Im looking forward to writers bringing back some of older characters back in Kalos. I mean many of them have viable chances and storylines which would justify seeing them back in region based on France, love, fashion etc. ORAS remakes are around corner and since series are playing more on nostalgia card. In reusing 4kids music and pokerap in openings, creating pokemon Origins for specifically first generation fans, referencing to past by bringing back Kanto starters etc.
Gives me some hope that writers and production staff will realize potential and appeal return of iconic well known older characters can bring. Increasing continuity, bringing more excitement to storyline with various scenarios and plots through which Ash friends from past could influence Kalos region and develop their own stories. And providing insight to past and events which helped mold Ash character, series history and main storyline.
Yeah, apparently they are going for the past more than usual, and without regressing Ash. Let's hope the hope is sound. We're still not sure about ORAS remakes actually making it into the anime. The closest to any of the remakes actually being covered for a season was with FRLG, and even that was more focused on the Battle Frontier from Pokémon Emerald.
1.)One of this characters is definitely May wishing to see ber again, enjoy in her sweet and bubbly personality. Get update on her contest adventures and witness how much she improved. I mean she is protagonist of third gen so promotional value is there, and she could fit nicely with Kalos theme of beauty and fashion. In promoting contests among people over there and how to use pokemon in different way than they got used to see through regular battles, Drawing some coinnections to pokemon performer occupation, as far as appeal rounds go.
She could technically have mega evolve her Blaziken or Venusaur too. Maybe even Wartortle if it evolves in Blastoise in meantime.
I can't exactly agree with your sentiments on May (she's a Hina, and, well, you probably know me well enough to know my views on Hinas), but yeah, she probably has a chance of appearing thanks to ORAS. Then again, I wonder what May will do if she appears. She was pretty goal-centric to the exclusion of her friends (considering how she didn't hesitate for even a second to go to Johto at the expense of her friends, little if any indication of being sad about the group splitting apart, and even her return in Sinnoh was primarily for the trans-regional ribbon for her journey in Johto, and her friends were just a side issue), and since Kalos doesn't seem to have any contests so far as I can imagine (neither did Unova, for that matter), I honestly can't imagine May simply going there to visit friends.
Besides, we also can't even say for certain whether the writers can in fact get May over to the region, even if they do reveal it has Pokémon Contests. Don't forget, her voice actress, KAORI, retired from voice acting to pursue a career as a pop singer, similar to Hillary Duff here in the states, and Japan allegedly has a habit of not replacing voice actors (then again, America does this to some extent as well, and even Japan sometimes replaces VAs even when they died, considering how Giovanni is still a major player despite his VA dying nearing the end of Battle Frontier). At least with Misty, her voice actress is still active.
[2.) However what i wish even more is Misty long, long awaited return.
At very least for 10 to 15 episodes. There is Gyarados which could mega evolve, E4 Siebold who is basically water master and writers could develop subplot in Misty going through struggles trying to impress him and end up taken as apprentice teaching her secrets about water pokemon, Kalos is based on France Misty always fantasized of visiting, there is battle Chateau or writers could possibly have some powerful expert hosting tournaments similar to Whirl Cup expandinbg on master of water title. Seeing Mistya in action again, do follow up and develop more and bring more life in main cast we have in XY with her emotional, brash and adventurous attitude.
Not to mention there is Serena which has feelings for Ash, something well i cannot deny Misty also had(still possibly does)making for highly interesting encounter and pretty deep story made out of it. IN both girls gettking over their misunderstanding and prejuidices with Misty helping her to better stand up for herself, courageous and independent.
Although i wouldn't mind seeing Misty become main travel companion again. She is great character, many people want her back and her story was never finished providing lot of opportunities to expand upon. It wouldnt be surprising to see her leave gym going on journey to meet other specialists, train in developing more complex strategie to become E4 of water pokemon, prior to that becoming Lorelei, Wallace or Kalos E4 Siebold apprentice. Developing story through which she could battle stronger trainers, enter tournaments and pass evaluators who search for talented people who could reach elite status.
Advancing water master dream that way and make creative story through which someone could go forward.
Yeah, she did mention wanting to go to France, and based on the fact that DP not only referenced Jessebelle at the very beginning of DP, but nearing the end, shortly after the Mt. Sinnoh arc in fact, she even has a "round 2" with James, I'm pretty sure the writers will remember that element. Plus, if the writers learned from their mistakes and decided to include the World Conference arc after they stupidly skipped it over in Best Wishes, even if she doesn't permanently return to the main cast, it would also give an actual chance at closure for Misty's story arc, especially having her actually continue her journey rather than simply being relegated to a gym leader. Not to mention considering her hostage situation in the episode where Brock got Vulpix, I'm doubtful she'll take too kindly to Team Flare's views (Plus, I kinda agree with her that both internal and external beauty matters more than Ash and Brock's insistence that only internal beauty matters, even moreso after a particularly bad experience in college where I had to be subject to a lot of brainwashing by left-wing professors, starting with one who was a femnazi in pretty much every sense of the word which made me give up feminism (though not Misty, fortunately), not to mention some things intellectuals pushed since the Age of Enlightenment that made internal beauty utterly meaningless, at least regarding intellect, that I basically stopped trusting Belle from Beauty and the Beast).
3.) Another thing i want is more faithful adaptation of Team Flare conveyed on TV show screen. Whole idea of pokemon genocide with cynical, embittered and delusional leader Lysandre developing misconception over human race, Making generalization of every human being greedy, corrupted and egoistic. Trying to create his own vision of "beautiful world", Utopia by abusing AZ trainer ultimate weapon is actually very deep, dark and ingenious story.
Especially with whole backstory about AZ which is pretty engaging and murky casting whole new light on pokemon world and how to prevent giant war between humans and pokemon ever hapening again(something both games and anime brought for first time in Johto generation around Ecruteak city and whole Ho-Oh story). Trying to find peaceful solution in wrong way almost exterminating life in Kalos.
Mega evolution specials revolved around so far still mysterious and pretty whithdrawn character Alain who wishes to discover whole secrets behind mega evolution and defeat all trainers which learned to use mega evolved pokemon.
And his collaboration with Lysandre being unaware of his true of malefic nature plans abusing him for his own benefit, is another great twist.
Which would make Kalos plot and one of main themes revolved around new ways of upgrading pokemon bring to whole new level delivering one of most memorable, intricate and pretty realistic storylines ever seen in anime. If writers have enough motivation and time to make viable job out of it.
Yeah, we definitely need Team Flare to actually be faithful in their adaptation, especially considering how in BW, the writers absolutely butchered Team Plasma's role (though, to be fair, BW2 probably made that inevitable, thanks to it being released before they even got halfway through the arc).
