    Me: Matthias
    Nickname: Matt

Greninja is called Froakie. [I disliked the German names of the Pokémon and the evolutions so I just nicknamed it after the English name.]
Ivysaur is called YoloSwagger. [My friends suggested it. lol]

But that's actually it, because the rest of my team I traded so I can't nickname them.

  • My Delphox is called Magical Gift, Azumarill is called Blueberry, Pidgeot is named Sand Kicker, Gogoat is named Lucy, Aurorus is Amane and Lucario is Auron.

I know Amane is a girl's name, but I couldn't pass it up even though my Aurorus is male. I just picked a random Final Fantasy name for Lucario.

The only other Pokemon I nicknamed is Wish, the female Hidden Ability Eevee.

I have Chester the Chesnaught, but that doesn't count because I got him in a in-game trade.

I usally nickname the pokemon i plan to use. And are usally named after game or movie characters. Sometimes myths or a name that relates to what animal they look like/similar to.

    My pokemon nicknames:

Furfrou: Georgette(Name if from the character poodle Georgette form the Disney movie Oliver and Company. I thought it was fitting as furfrous are super pamperd in pokemon and Georgette was a spoiled pamper poodle.)

    Pangoro: Poe(Kung Fu Panda....)

Noivern: Norbert(Norbert aka Norberta of Harry Potter)

Houdoom: Flint(...Nothing lol was the first thing that poped in my head when i named him)

I have others but these are my main pokemon on my team atm so... yeah.

I usually don't nickname my Pokémon, but decided to do it this time around. (: I've named my Pikachu "Elecouse," a combination of the words electric and mouse. My Blaziken—I've named it "Firghter." It's a mixture of fire and fighter. Not very original, but hey, at least it's a bit creative! And finally, I've named my Scizor "Rebuissor," a mash-up of red, bug, and scissor.

  • In my X Team I have:
    • Sophie - female Mienshao [nicknamed from Meerkat Manor]
    • Mozart - male Watchog [nicknamed from Meerkat Manor]
    • Tosca - female Linoone [nicknamed from Meerkat Manor]
    • Xandra - female Pyroar [nicknamed from online comic]
    • Milo - male Meowstic [nicknamed from movie "Milo & Otis"]
    • Flowers - female Floatzel [nicknamed from Meerkat Manor]

almost forgot: my starter in X was Zaphod the Chespin [nicknamed from Meerkat Manor] but I left it on the PC once I caught Mozart on route 15.

Now that I have my Y team started, I have:
[note: nicknames are in Katakana - since I"m playing the game in Japanese]
    • Todd [トードー] - male Fennekin [nicknamed from Beavis & Butthead]
    • Castor [カストール] - male Bidoof [nickname is Spanish for beaver]
    • Sakura [サクラ] - female Zigzagoon [nickname I heard that name somewhere]

Restarted Y team - and decided to stay with English... next post has the nicknames

  • Trainer: Scarlett
It's a French girl name meaning red, where Pokemon all began and my version is the red one, Y.

    Starter: Colette the Chesnaught
She was female on my first try, so I did not have a nickname planned. Since I started my Sapphire version as Nicole and my female (first try) Treecko as Scarlet, I switched the two up. Colette is another variant of Nicole then, which means victory.

    Team Members:
Terry the Talonflame, after my uncle who passed away shortly before XY's launch.
Lulu the Florges, named after Luke because he bought Y for me and wanted to be a Fairy type.
Devona the Dragalge, a French girl name meaning divine.
Sybille the Delphox, a French girl name meaning prophetess.

    Greninja: Prince *male*
    Venusaur: Venus *male*

    Pidgeot: Ace *male*
Combusken: I would name it Blaze but I can't nickname it because I got it from the special event. *male*
    Tyrantrum: Tyri *female*

Btw I've already beaten the game, for those of you who don't have it yet, it's a great game! :)

i based my pokemon off the trojan war because... well it's the trojan war.

greninja - hector: named after the greatest trojan warrior in the trojan war.
tyrantrum - aias: the strongest achaean fighter, described as being rather colossal in size.
aegislash - aegis: zeus' shield or buckler.
lucario - heracles: the greatest of greek heroes.
meowstic - psyche: goddess of the soul. although i plan to rename her athena, as it seems to fit in more with my team.
blaziken - achilles: would have been, if not for the fact that he is an event pokemon, making nicknaming impossible. achilles is the greatest warrior in the iliad.
venusaur - odysseus: master mariner and soldier. although thinking about it now, a more appropriate nickname for venusaur would be apollo.
lapras - xanthos: zeus' talking horse lol

  • Here are some of the nicknames I gave my Pokemon:

Chesnaught - Espada (had wanted to name him Spike but the game wouldn't allow me :()
    Blastoise - Kamblast
Meowstic - Feraldine (probably my favorite out of them all)
Aegislash - Soul Calibur (so glad it was able to fit!)
    Scrafty - Yakuzed
    Malamar - Krakrau
    Salamence - Bertha
    Alakazam - Merlin (obvious)

I tried not nicknaming the new Pokemon as much because I wanted to learn their names.

  • Espeon - Trjegul
    Sylveon - Bygul
(Espeon and Sylveon are named for the Norse goddess Freyja's cats, though Sylveon is more canine than feline)
    Blastoise - Cowabunga (Ninja Turtles~)
    Goodra - Jabberwock
Charizard - Francis (as in Francis Drake)
Ninetales - Asher (male) Le Fay (female)
    Noivern - Bruce

That's all I can remember at the top of my head. Clearly I don't put too much thought into these lol.

  • My liteleo/pryroar Regulus, after the brightest star in the leo consstellation. All of my other Pokemon have ridiculous names. My Absol is named Abby, as usual, and my croagunk is named Biohazard, which is actually kinda cool.
