5th Gen What do you think of the New Characters?

Hmmm, I still don't think they'll do them. Imo they'll do the double letter theme really, since to me it all seems to be opposites here.

The new character look pretty awesome, especially the rival. I'd rather have Prof Juniper back though.

It's like Hilda and Hilbert's caps withered to visors, and then their hair exploded.

I like the female player character, and I like the male's clothes. But that hair is awful, it's just a pile. And is he wearing like... Leggings underneath those shorts? Or is it some kind of scuba outfit? What if they're getting rid of surf and dive and letting our characters do that instead? That would be cool.

Rival looks awesome. I like his jacket and his hair. Looks like he might be kinda cocky, like someone said above, I hope he's a Blue/Silver sort of rival.

Also love the Poison Gym Leader, she looks really 80s. And the Water Leader looks pretty cool too.

All in all, pretty much enjoying the new character designs. If we could just cut the boy's hair. D;

So like, instead of a Cheren/Bianca thing, you instead get your opposite protag travelling with you like they were sorta--no I'm probably reading into this too much, but I still think it's pretty likely. :x Dunno, I'd just like to see the other protag being involved in your journey. XD

It's all really exciting.

Judging by what route we'd have to take in order to travel the updated region, I presume that the two new gym leaders are going to replace the Striaton trio and Lenora.

Swimming seems to be the theme so far, aside from the funky water leader, the male protagonist appears to have a diving suit underneath his clothing and the female seems to also be wearing a swimsuit under her shirt

I wasn't as keen on the hair of the new Professor, but the absurdness of the style has grown on me in the past couple of hours. As for his role, I personally wouldn't mind for him to be the one who gives us our Pokedex/Starter. As for the suggestion that he's evil/suspicious I think it would be an interesting twist. I'd certainly be grateful for a Pokemon game with a starting professor who has a less linear and more impacting role within the main plot.

New protagonists have grown on me, the girl is brilliant, no complaints. I also like how her Xtransceiver appears to be yellow rather than the typical gender colour association. The male reminds me a lot of the HG/SS protagonist, his bag looks a little too big for him but I'm willing to overlook it. I'd perhaps like them more if they didn't look like complete Hilbert/Hilda revamps; I'd prefer them to look like completely new characters.

The Poison-type leader appears to be the first gym leader. If my eyes don't fool me she has two Pokémon, and her gym looks like a "thrashed" version of the Striaton Gym.

The player characters are OK. Although the male would be better without all that hair and that swimsuit-thingy under his shorts.

I hope the professor turns out to be an antagonist towards the end, just like Ghetsis's actual ambition in BW.

The rival gives me this Silver-vibe, it seems to me that he'll get some pretty powerful Pokémon. Too much hair, again! At least this rival looks like a guy.

I hope the Dratini-line is part of the regional Pokédex. It's nice to see some Gen 1 Pokémon, anyway.

I like the characters designs, the male character's design sorta is similar to Brendan's Emerald design, sorta, just barely, but I always liked that design and so I like this one too, also the girl looks alot more casual.

meh, I'm not feeling the designs, it seems they went back to kids as protagonists (please tell me I'm wrong on this, either that, or these guys are older than they look). the girl looks ok (interesting hair!, a Princess Leia reference? :P ) , but has (so far) nowhere near the wow factor Touko had. the boy's hair looks a mess.

the increased pokedex is better, I suppose, but I want to see how "johto-ized" they made Unova.

also, I wonder if you would fight the old BW protagonists a la Red in Mt Silver.

I think the characters look pretty neat. I'm with the majority here in that I also really like the female's design, but I actually don't mind the male's design either. Though it makes me wonder if Hilbert also has massive hair underneath his hat, haha.

The rival looks more rival-esque than the buddy-buddy vibe Cheren and Bianca gave me at first, so that's cool I guess. The professor looks too menacing to not be secretly evil, haha. Also, that hair.

As for the Gym Leaders... well, they look like Gym Leaders. Nothing too surprising design-wise.

GAH! They all look fantastic. The protagonists do remind me a lot of Touya and Touko, but I'm guessing there isn't any real connection.

I love the boys hair, it's all whacky. The girls design is cute, and the hair. The Rival looks awesome and sneaky, gah - and THE HAIR!

The other characters look interesting too. The researcher especially - I think someone mentioned he was the main antagonist or something (idk if that's been confirmed), which would be cool. The darked skinned guy with the blue eyes looks really cute, plus that poison gym leader looks really fun.

I already quite like the female trainer, my opinion on the male trainer on the other hand is still kind of....ehh, in the first scan i saw of him, I actually thought he was Hilda in a cool tomboy outfit << The rival, when I initially saw him I knew he was the rival, nothing I dislike, but I don't have much of an opinion on him yet.

I actually like Hilbert/ Hilda more than the new Playable characters, now there's still more to see in Pokemon smash.

My opinions:

-Male Scientist: Looks cliche and mysterious. Now only if he could take that blue strand off, then he'd look like Germany with glasses, and Hetalia fans can squee in peace.
-Water-type Gym Leader: A simple, yet briliant, design. Reminds me of a cross between Finnick from The Hunger Games and Sokka from Avatar: The Last Airbender.
-Guitarist Gym Leader: If they give ehr a cutsey personality, I hate her. If they give her a snooty personality, it's genius.
-Rival: Sex/bed-hair? He should comb it down to look more handsome, like Shinra drom Durarara!!. Aside from that, neat overall design. I could live without the pahnypack, though...
-Female PC: Cutsey design. Looks adorable, in contrast to Hilda's sensual design. But it still irks me how Sugimori's doing all he can to prevent panty-shots.
-Male PC: Get a haircut or GTFO.

That's what I think of them, but that's just me. Other people will surely have different ideas than mine. XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

As for the time-setting, it's wonderful to see that everything hasn't stayed the same, to be honest. This will make things far more easier to work with, as far as sequels go. And considering how half of the region's frozen, it's understandable that the oldies migrated down to the pre-E4 areas, making them available early. The development team thinks of everything! XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

As for the player characters and rival...meh. I can't say I care too much for them- the only one that particularly sticks out to me is Sailor Mo'n CWUTIDIDTHAR the female character. I may end up playing as her, I dunno.

I actually like the design of the male character too. :O I much prefer his design to Lucas' and Hilberts anyway. :P The female protagonist looks pretty cool too, and the rival looks pretty awesome- in my opinion, he looks like he could be a serious 'Gary/Silver' type of rival, unlike the recent trend of friendly rivals we've been having (May/Brendan, Wally, Barry, Cheren, Bianca etc.) So yeah, hopefully that'll be good. :D

And the gym leaders look pretty epic. :O Their designs seem pretty memorable, and they clearly look like they'd be that type of gym leader, so me gusta. :D Also, I don't really have an opinion on the professor yet. :s

Old gen pokemon,nice..The one that researches pokemon strength is like cheren before.
I want to see hoenn pokemon in the game,since hoenn and unova are similar.
And if the rival would steal like silver it would be cool.

I can understand why people may dislike them but I love them! Especially the Poison type Gym Leader, there aren't many leaders that specialise in Poison and they did an excellent choice choosing that.
