  • Alright everyone, just so you know, I wrote this while on one of my many chocolate-induced highs while listening to the song "Hero" so let's just hope it's not too crappy.

    -------

    "Do you know....What it takes to be a hero?
    When you're lost, a piece of love, a piece of you...
    Do you have, what it takes to beat the fear that's,
    In you're heart, To grow up strong, and undo wrong,
    to grow up strong, and undo wrong..."

    -Hero

    ----Story----

    The year is 2112, And as such technology has advanced slightly. Slightly. Things aren't much different than they were in 2000's. While cars no longer run on fossil fuels, but the rest is still relitively the same. Key in on the word "Relitively" there, it's kind of important.

    Humanity, for the most part, has also come quite a ways in the department of actually being 'humane.' However, this dosn't mean that it's 100% pure, it simply means there aren't as many 'bad guys' out there as there were 100 years go. These villans however, have taken advantage of newer technology and become what would be called "Super Villans."

    These 'super villans' have discovered, by mere chance, that humanity is evolving. Only a certain few have powers though, the rest merely use their smarts to create gadgets, or their skills to steal them. Heros also have powers, but a 'limiter' is placed on them. (will be explained later) it is the hero's jobs to defeat the villans and bring peace back to the world.

    Since a time of peace has come over the world's population, the police forces of the world, or rather, the "Global Safety Unit" (GSU) has become lax and was not ready to take on this new, and powerful brand of criminals Thankfully, however, when a new enemy appears, a new brand of heros will always rise to defeat them.However, with the growing number of villans...Let us hope those heros will be able to protect us.

    ----plot----

    You are either a hero or a villan. Villans can have either gadgets, or powers, but not bolth. The same goes for heros. Bolth teams can also work independantly, or work in teams/groups. Freelance heros are looked down upon slightly in the populace's eyes, while hero teams are looked up at as...well...heros. Sorry villans, everyone and their mother hates you, it's because your evil. You could, also be what the populace calls a 'Switch' or 'Merc,' meaning you go with whoever is moving twords your goal, but will jump ship at a moment's notice.

    (edit): This all takes place in the (imaginary) city of Necropetopoils, USA, which borders the states of California, Michigan, Florida, and Tennesee.

    ----choices----

    Hero: As stated above, you can either have 'Super' Powers, or use gadgets, but they cannot be uber powerful, and if they are you can't use them to their full, devestating potentioal. You can act however you want, but you have to remember one important rule: A hero never harms innocents.

    Villan: Hero, Shmero. As a villan you'll get all the really GOOD powers and gadgets, and can use them however you want! Who cares who gets hurt! If you have power, use it all you want. Even if you dont, use what you have to do what you want! Villans are usually 'evil and dastardly' as is the steriotype, but there are the misunderstood, gentle-ish ones that purely want to be recognised for their accomplishments and abilities, by any means neccisary if needed. Just remember, just because you're all villans, if you work together, it dosn't mean you cant be double-crossed.

    Switch/Merc: You work for yourself, usually by yourself, and do what you want to get what needs to be done, done. Rarely bought off, you can be tempted if offered something that will help you achieve your goal, no matter what it is. You stay out of the limelight and work from the shadows, only showing your face to the world when it's neccesary to build the image you're trying to display. You can have powers, or use gadgets, but since your abilities are usually sub-par you can usually use gadgets as well. Just remember, noone owns you.

    ----Rules----

    1: Obey all PC forum rules.
    2: Obey all RP forum rules.
    3: Obey all THESE rules:
    4: No godmodding, 'piggybacking,' or 'bunnying' ¬.¬
    5: while super powers may be 'cheap' they may not be UBER cheap.(i.e. you cant have 'spider sence' and 'force fields' mixed with 'super-reflexes')
    6: Teams may have as many members as they want, but hero teams cant force someone to join. Villans CAN blackmail you into joining them.
    7: It's called a SECRET identity people, you cant tell the 'norms about you, or any other hero's alter-ego, villans are free to tell IF they can find out.
    8: you can sign up at any time, there's no limit. "The more the merrier" afterall
    9: no killing. If someone want's their character to die off, I MUST know, FROM them before the person dies off.
    10: yes, you can have a relationship, but nothing further than pg13-17 can happen alright?
    11: no ripoff heros. yes, you can borrow ideas from the DC and marvel heros and others like that, but no rippoffs where all you do is change their name.
    12: I don't ask for a history, because your reason will more than likely show why you are doing what you're doing.
    13: HAVE FUN! I cant stress this enough. yes, you may make spelling errors, yes, you may have a little bit of gramatical stuff, but hey, we all do and nobodie's perfect. just make it so you're not the only one that can read it and have a good time. If everyone's not happy, you wont be happy.

  • (EDITED! Let me know if I need to change anything else.)

    Name: Jeremy Levins
    Alias: Jinx
    Alliance: Jinx isn't loyal to anyone but himself. Okay, thats a lie. He's also loyal to whoever's got the briefcase full of cash or the biggest check book. Good or bad doesn't exist to him, he just gets his money up front and then does whatever he's told. After that, he does what he wants with his earnings.
    Gender: Male
    Age: Twenty-two
    Personality: To everyone around him, he's a very sarcastic person who only appears to try and put others down. And to him, he's the exact same guy. Jinx doesn't give a rats butt who he's talking to, he just says it like it is and doesn't care whether he makes the person happy or angry. His boss' are not above others either, and he's contantly criticzing their plans or other henchman. Secretly though, he would be nice if he got paid extra and he makes that term available on each mission. No one has taken him up on it yet, unfortunately for them.
    Description: On one of his missions, Jinx had to kill a military man and after all was said and done he decided he liked the mans outfit. The outfit was a black t-shirt, green and brown fatigue pants, black boots, a green vest with multiple pockets and black sunglasses that hide his fierce icy blue eyes. His hair is a dark blue, spiked up to give him an enticing look to scare his targets into submission, even if he does kill them all in the end.
    Powers/Gadgets: Jinx Powers: The reason for his Alias and his favorite power, he has the ability to jinx someone, meaning he's able to cause them to do something they normally won't do. Most of the time, he uses it when his targets try to run and causes them to trip over themselves. But he can of course use it to cause someone death, like get hit by a car.
    Shadow Manipulation: The name says it all really, can control shadows. The only ability he has mastered with this powers is to transport through shadows, making it easier to catch the targets. Other abilities with this power he can control the shadows in the surrounding area to attack/kill targets and can morph his own body parts into shadow weapons.
    Matilda: Matilda is a computer system that Jinx developed himself and has the capability of hacking into any electronic system in the known world. The gadget itself is a small ear piece (like a blue tooth) and he looks as if he's talking to himself.
    Non-Lethal Firearm: Jinx carries around a 'gun' but it is only for non lethal purposes. He keeps bullets that can knock out or shock the person who the bullets are made contact with. Also, he carries bullets that can create fake blood spatters and knock the person out incase he needs to get the target away from the police.

    Reason: Why not? If your a good guy you have to follow all the rules and be limited on how you catch the bad guys and when your a bad guy you can have all the fun in the world but you're hunted down for it. By being a merc/switch, I get the benefits of both. I am legally allowed to hunt down whoever and while I do have some limits I am allowed to do much more without the reprecussions by choosing one side.

    Hey DM, post the actual thing on the main forum before you post the OoC, so I can accept it. Just so that it goes through the acceptance system, that way it doesn't look like you're moderation bypassing.

  • Sorry sis, but it's also the OOC....thought it would be allowed, my bad *sweatdrops* but since you've seen this, it's accepted right? *will make an effort to post these things in the RP forum from now on, honest*

    Also, Chabz, by "Reason" I mean, "Why dose your CHARACTER do what they do" not you personally, guess I'd better edit that to avoid confusion...

    Switch/Merc:

    Name: Takami Haru
    Alias: Wildside
    Alliance: usually goes for the hero side, but has been known to steal from time to time.
    Gender: Male
    Age: 16
    Personality: Despite being a merc, Haru is usually happy go lucky for the most part. A kid of sorts, he will often help take in villans for rewards and such, but other than that he isn't much of a 'hero' as he will steal from places to get what he wants or needs. Usually what he needs such as food and things like that, but on occasion things he wants, such as new toys or expensive clothing, and, on occasion, rare jewels that he ends up pawning for cash on the black market. He isn't really 'for hire' but can be tempted with things he wants such as sweets. In all essence, he's a kid at heart.

    Description: Haru wears a black T-shirt with an orange pawprint on the front and orange stripes on the shoulders, and sides. A mane of shaggy black hair sits atop his head that has orange highlights near the ends, along with naturally orange bangs. His eyes are a dark brown in color. His pants are black with those same orange stripes and his shoes are black also, orange pawprints adorning the soles of bolth, while what looks like five claws make up the toe of each shoe.

    While on-duty however, his appearance changes drasticly. A pair of black cat ears spring from his hair, and a black-and-orange striped tail finds its way out behind him. black stripes appear on his skin and his fingernails lengthen into claws, the same going for his feet which is why he goes barefoot. His clothing is replaced by a black, with orange-striped leotard of sorts, that, while being skin-tight dosn't actually give away anything of his appearance. His hair also shortens slightly, and more oranges appear throuout it, along with his eyes turning gold and the pupils becoming slits. The leotard has orange stripes along the short sleeves, pant legs, and shoulders, along with a large orange pawprint surrounded by an orange circle adorns his chest. For added effect he usually wears a black burglar mask, although it dosn't really do anything but make him look like a thief, which he kind-of is.

    Haru stands 5"11' and weighs 90 lbs.

    Powers/Gadgets: Haru has the following abilities (aside from the change that activates them)

    Night vision: Haru can see in the dark

    Advanced Jumping and speed: Haru has above average speed and can jump heights that would be impossible for even a basketball player

    Advanced Hearing: Haru can hear things a great distance away, even while human, this dose, however, open him up to supersonic attacks.

    Above-average strength: Haru can lift things several times his weight, but only to a certain extent. Cars - tricky but possible, collapsing buildings - run.

    Reason: Haru is what he is for a few reasons. One is that since he grew up without parents since he was five, he had to be there for himself most of the time, and sees the villans as a threat to the animals he lived with, and this is the only reason he goes after thsoe villans. The villans that help animals, and are only seen as villans in the eyes of big companies however, he'll team up with and steal what's neccessary. So long as the animals are alright, he's fine with it. A new set of clothing wouldn't be bad either.

    Other: (just something I wanted to clear up) Haru lived in an old treehouse in the city park since he was 10, living with the stray cats that he would find. despite being drawn to cats as are his powers, he will take care of other animals too, such as dogs and even the rare raccoon. All the animals that actually live with full-time him actually have the appropriate tags and shots, as so they cannot be picked up by the pound.

  • Villain

    Name: Patrick Gordon

    Alias: Earth-Shaper

    Affiliates: None, Solo. Unless More people sign up and I can make a Team.

    Gender: Male

    Age: 23

    Personality: Patrick is a man of no morales and only thinks of himself. He has an ego and isn't afraid to flaunt his arrogance around and with the mentality that he is the best and everything is about him, Patrick becomes one who is quite irritating yet dangerous. He is out for himself and nothing but himself, refusing to care for others. Patrick is fairly intelligent and charisma , making him capable of skillful manipulation. However, he often acts with great impulse and rarely thinks most things completely through. As long as Patrick receives what he desires at the moment, his goal is complete. He isn't one for big, elaborate goals such as world domination but rather one for quick money raids. However, Patrick becomes most dangerous when someone interrupts one of his more grand schemes or personal life in a huge way. Then the desire of revenge consumes him and seeks to disrupt and ruin the life of his opponent making him a potentially deadly force.

    Description: At first glance, one would see a 6"2 man with a large build. Patrick weighs roughly 230 pounds mostly muscle but he doesn't resemble a bodybuilder. His blonde hair is fairly average in length, with a trimmed back and sides and bangs covering his forehead though a black long hair wig covers it unless he is acting as the Earth-Shaper. His everyday outfit is composed of a traditional black suit and a red tie as he is a salesperson for a electronic company. He appears very business-like which is fitting for his character and persona. His face is usually calm though a bit rebellious considering a smirk is always on. Grayish Blue eyes pierce through his hair at all times and they seem almost emotionless at all times. His skin is a fair color, far from tan or being albino but rather in the middle granting a typical rich white man appearance.

    Patrick doesn't wear an official costume. Instead, he wears extreme street clothes when active as Earth-Shaper. His natural hair flows with no wig. Patrick wears torn stonewashed jeans with a black t-shirt with a torn world design on the back with a pair of black fingerless gloves. The shirt's sleeves are slightly torn on the edges, granting a very rough almost poor appearance. Patrick also sports steel toe boots with a dark shade of brown and a black outline to further detail in it.

    Powers:

    Earth Manipulation: Patrick is capable of manipulating the ground in order to order to attack his opponents. The powers range from levitating rocks and throwing them to covering his body in stone armor. Despite the wide ranges in his power, he prefers to apply to simple uses so he limits himself to using for combat purposes meaning stone fists, rock tosses and minor earthquakes are as far he does it. The power puts some strain on him so it limits his ability to fight for extended periods.

    Super Strength: Patrick packs superhuman strength roughly equal to Venom's original level. Tossing people around is easy, though anything heavy as or heavier than a car takes extreme effort.

    Enhanced Durability: Patrick packs superhuman durability slightly greater than Spider Man and with that exhaustion takes far longer and his vulnerability to wounds is decreased. However, injuries such as broken bones are still possible and his increased stamina is offset by the strain his other powers cause.

    Healing Factor: Patrick contains a healing factor allowing for unnatural healing abilities. Most minor wounds such as cuts or bruises heal in a matter of a few hours after some bleeding. Major wounds such as deep lacerations or broken bones take several days to heal completely. The power doesn't grant an increased lifespan or immunity to diseases, so clearly the power applies only to physical wounds.

    Reason: Patrick's only reasonable reasoning behind is that he believes he is superior as an individual and that everything should be given to him as a result. However with the oppressive world, he has to force himself on top and get the pleasures he desires. Patrick, in that regard, is motivated by greed and personal desire more than anything. He runs on a the natural high committing crime gives him and thrives on it. World domination or destruction ruin the fun of his ambitions and as a result are not his principle goals. Revenge consumes him in times of personal feuds as they disrupt the fabric of the ideals that control his life.

    If anything needs to be changed, just tell me.
    I made a small edit, increasing his strength as I felt the need to make a bit stronger.
    Healing factor is toned down.

  • alright, Chabz is Accepted

    Got-A-Plan-B is Accepted although I still think you should tone it down a bit, but hey, you're a villan. What can you do?

    NOTE:

    Also, I forgot to mention this, but Villans are allowed "Henchmen" regardless of abilities or gadgets., but they have to be normal humans who just work to get paid, and aren't usually really more than a distraction to heros, while some can be 'trained bodygaurds' of sorts.

  • Ahahaha! I know what I'm tempted to do! I shall reserve a spot (I'll sign up AFTER I get done with finals). I'd be signing up as a team of four, maybe five, characters... who are just barely not evil enough to be villains... (well, I guess you'll have to see once my signup appears) and act more like a group of friends. Would that be okay?

  • of cource that would be fine. But, you'd have to make individual signups for each member, and they would all have to have their kryptonites (even if they can cover for eachother, their abilities can't all be uber)

    you also have to be able to HANDLE all the characters you create. alright?

    NOTE:
    Also, i'd like to point out again that, for a hero RP, we seem to be missing quite a few... oh... I dont know... HEROES?!?!?

    once these 'almost villans' are done, we will need atleast 1 hero for every 2-3 'villans' (not mercs or switches, just pure bred villans) to even things out. Yes, that's even. There's always more badguys than good guys. always.

    (Heres your hero if she is alright. The alias is bad but I couldn't think of anything. I don't mind any name suggestions. I'll change anything you want me to SilverTail )

    Name: Kira Jonhson
    Alias: Novafrost
    Affilities: None as of yet
    Gender: Female
    Age: 17
    Personality: Quite, occasionaly staring into space, and rarely showing any emotions, most people stay away from her, thinking her as the dark loner type, whereas she is the complete opposite. Inside her quite exterior she habours a secret longing to protect people. She will happily sacrifice herself to save a friend, and she doesn't diplay emotions mainly beacause it helps her keep control over her abilities, and also becasuse she doesn' want people warrying about her. She is also quite tatical, though she is stubborn and hates giving up.
    Descriptions: Around 5'8 with a slight athletic build, she has medium-long russet coloured hair, ending just after her shoulder blades, which she wears oose, except with the fringe clipped back. She tends to wear black ankle length trousers, a light blue or red t-shirt, with a black jacket over the top, and with trainers. Her blue eyes are often staring into the distance.
    Her one-pice Novafrost costume is mainly blue, with red , reaching halfway to the knee, and red gloves reaching her elbow. On her chest is the picture of a flame, with a snow flake in the middle. She wears a black mask that just covers her hes, and her nose. When Novafrost she has her hair tied up in a plait.
    Powers/Gadgets:
    Pyrokinesis - The ability to control fire. She can make fire, but there has to be some kind of fuel for her to do so, unless it's only a quick burst of flame like a fire ball, but after it's created she can make it do many things, such as taking on shapes, or creating missiles to throw at her opponents.
    Cryokinesis - The ability to control ice. She can freeze water, but has to be in contact with it. Again she has to be in contact with it to shape the ice, but she can move it with her mind after that, like making a small ice dart speed towards the opponent, and change direction. Though she just tends to make a ice sword and shield.
    Shape Shift - She can change into a plain, ordinary, fox, which her allows her to sneal around places, and make a getaway. Her clothes, and anything she is carrying shift with her. She tends to keep this power a secret if she can.
    Reason: Kira has always like helping people, though she doesn't show. However when she first discovered her powers she became scared, and hid from the supehero responsibilty, until one day a villain attacking he home town, laying it to waste, killing many, including some of her friends. She got angry and fought him , getting badly hurt, but manageing to chase him off. After that she realised the world needed heroes, to combat the villains, so she made herself a new identity, and started fight villains whever they showed near her.

  • One more question before I sign up. I just noticed that Necropetopolis "borders the states of California, Michigan, Florida, and Tennessee". Those four states are so far apart that that would mean Necropetopolis has to occupy all the midwestern, southern, and southwestern states (which amounts to more than half of the US). Either that is one huge city, or somebody flunked geography...

    EDIT: *looks at Haru* 5'11" and 90 pounds? That amounts to an awfully low body mass, especially on someone with above-average strength. Either he has hollow bones or something (like a bird), or somebody flunked anatomy...

    Now that I'm done nitpicking, I can continue working on my signup... I'll post it when I'm finished with it. Oh, and the flunking is a joke of course. :p

  • Hmm... Flunked which though? And you'd better be kidding, or off wit' yer head![/lame pun]

    Anyways, let me point out some things:

    about the city -

    one: it's been ONE-HUNDRED YEARS. Things can change.

    two: it is, as I stated, an IMAGINARY city. either you overlooked that, or you need a new perscription, or contacts. Those might help. Alot.

    Now onto the topic of Haru's frame.

    1 - It is a ROLE PLAY. with SUPER-HEROS. things can be crazy like that. get used to it.

    2 - he's MY character. I can do what I can make him how I want, solely on the basis that it is MY RP and MY logic. NEVER question my logic. you will ALWAYS lose. every time. no winning. none. like, seriously. froyd couldn't beat me in a battle of my logic. dont even try. (honestly, I made this RP on a chocolate-high)

    3 - he's a CAT. cats are small, light, and built for speed and power. the strength comes from the 'big cat' part of the spectrum, which are large, strong, and agile. as you can see, it works

    now that the counter-nitpicking is over, I'd like to say that I await your signups! now get back ta' work ya' lazy bum!

    x3

    Is it okay if I do two just in case? You can pick which one you want to be in(if I get accepted *I say that because it keeps sounding cocky in my head... -_-<Hopefully I can get both in!>*)

    Hero:

    Name: Marshall Summers

    Alias:

    Affilities: N/A

    Gender: Male

    Age: 23

    Personality:

    Personal - He is a kind, caring man who is always ready to lend a helping hand. He tends to talk a little too much and has trouble keeping a job due to his laziness, but that can really be attributed to his lack of interest in almost everything (he is lazy, though). He lives in a small apartment that is almost always piled high with dirty dishes and clothes, until he earns enough money to hire a maid

    Hero - He is a very solitary and quiet man. Almost everything about him is the opposite of his personal life. He has is meciless when it comes to the villains of the city. As of yet, no one is really sure if he really exsits or he is just a myth.

    Descriptions: Marshall is 6'3" and weighs about 195 pounds. He has a burn on most of the bottom half of his left arm recieved from a fire started during his third practice fight. He has short black hair and dark, almsot black, eyes. He has a slightly above average build and always seems to have bags under his eyes. He has started growing a beard as he has grown tired of shaving.

    Powers/Gadgets:

    Electromagnetism - Simply put, this abilities lets the user control electricity, or "lightning".

    Telescopic Vision - The ability to see clearly in darkness and magnify vision to various levels.

    Reason: He never knew either of his parents and grew up in a very poor orphanage. The orphanage was in a bad spot in the city, having been placed next to the headquarters of one of the strongest villain teams of the time. After seeing some horrible events concluding with the discovery of his powers and the death the woman who was almost his mother, he vowed to do anything he could to keep this from happening ever again. He trained his powers against some of the weaker villains, developing his powers over the years.

    Villain:

    Name: Tori Schroeder

    Alias:

    Affilities: N/A

    Gender: Female

    Age: 21

    Personality: Tori is what most people would call the perfect example of "twisted." Much like the stereotypes, she has a wonderfully psychotic laugh; zero empathy, compassion, understanding, ect; and the backstory of a terrible childhood and wanting to be special. The only thing really exceptional about her mind is her ways of murder and torture and the occasional (and brief) change of heart. But this change of heart does not help anyone as her views of what is helpful and what is not in this state quite horrible. During one of these phases, she tried to help a man out of the top floor of a 137 story building by pushing him out the window.

    Description: She has a lazy left eye, which many say is a cause of her finally snapping (which also caused the random "changes of heart.") Her black hair, tan skin, six foot height, and emerald green eyes contribute to her vast beauty, causing many men (who don't really notice her very lazy eye) to fall for and do anything for her, which she uses to her advantage. She has a tattoo of an eye on the top of left shoulder and a butterfly tattoed on each of her thighs. She weighs 120 pounds when last weighed and is usually wearing (when not committing acts of evil or "good as she sees it) a tight sequined dresses and sparkly heals while her face is slathered in make up, making her look much like a barbie and adds to her sex appeal.

    Powers/Gadgets:

    Rapid Cell Regeneration - The ability to heal any wound and regenerate body parts to a certian limit.

    Mental Manipulation - The ability to erase memories and block mental abilities (such as telepathy, telekinesis, ect.).

    Reason: Even though Tori usually uses her powers evil, she occasionly does what she thinks is helping
    (I.E. helping someone with a suicide attempt). She has the typical abused childhood which has led her to have several mental problems. She was a social outcast in school, and her first job as a villain was to destroy the lives of everyone who had ever done her wrong. Another reason was, as a child, she met her childhood hero. She discovered that he was nothing but a drunk who was being falsely portrayed by the media after he tried to molest her while he was drunk.

    The Black Cat Bandits

    At first glance, you'd think of the Black Cat Bandits as a group of non-super friends, judging by their (fairly) normal style of dress and the fact that most people see them when they're just hanging around town having fun or talking about things. But in fact they have hopped onto the criminal bandwagon--or rather, built their own little wagon for that matter. For they have some elements of a gang and a secret society. Though not violent enough to be a gang, they are kind of organised like one. They are, as Warren noted once, "bound to a life of crime", although mildly--they do some pickpocketing, shoplifting, car theft, mild ATM-based bank robberies, a few business/industry robberies here and there (casinos are their favourite), sneaking into restricted areas or locked commercial buildings... and with all this there comes the motto of "quickly, quietly, and reasonably". This brings us to the secret society part. The Black Cat Bandits are always careful to keep their intentions within the group (a "what happens here stays here" kind of deal), and take special care to avoid detection by their parents and the police. It can also be noted that this group is nocturnal--they normally sleep between 10AM and 6PM.

    Hmm, looks like we have here a group of super-villains! ...Well, not really. While it is true that their lifestyles and actions tend to have mostly evil results, they do have some good qualities that set them apart from the villains:
    - The group is held together by friendship rather than dominion and service, unlike most villain teams. Its members trust each other very well.
    - They don't fight against heroes. When confronted with a team of heroes, they act innocent and generally ignore them.
    - They spend much of their time working against villains and evil organisations (especially the latter).
    - They generally act polite and friendly towards innocent people. (Doing otherwise would arise suspicion.)
    - They do not want to be known for their evil acts. In fact, they don't want to be known for anything they do...

    Other characteristics of the group:
    - They always call themselves by their aliases, which don't reflect their powers and gadgets so much as their personalities and characteristics. Only their families and such call them by their real names. (The exception is Silphia, who goes by her real name unless some hero or villain organisation asks for her name.)
    - They don't believe in costumes or even any type of similar dress. This helps them appear just like normal people, an important part of their secrecy.
    - Despite the fact that they own two aircrafts, they spend most of their time traveling on foot. So they'll hardly ever use them in this RPG, except for very special purposes... But the two aircrafts are: (for future reference, in case they're needed)
    Spoiler:

    Spoiler:

    A bit of history: The original Black Cat Bandits (everyone except Silphia, who are represented in the four corners of their logo) are not Necropetopolis natives--they actually came from different parts of Europe. But what does that have to do with anything anyways, for the world has been getting closer and closer to global alliance for the past century or so. But after a while, they lived in the same household (the reason why is quite a long story...), and thus became good friends. The formation of the Black Cat Bandits was mostly Lupin's idea, for reasons that are discussed in his signup, but everyone went along with it, as friends are supposed to stick together. Besides, the idea of a criminal life appealed to them, especially thanks to the insight and wisdom Lupin provided in that field. In the beginning, they were just a little group of troublemakers intent on remaining secret, and occasionally kept apart by real-life complications. But whenever a significant issue arose, like the current one in Necropetopolis, they got back together in a glorious reunion or... well we'll just have to see this time.

    The individual members...

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Name: Ryan Inistacht
    Alias: Halberd
    Alliance: He's the most neutral of all the Black Cat Bandits, not really choosing to take a side. He mostly helps the others along, following what they do, and keeps them together--an unofficial leader.
    Gender: Uh... male, hence the "he".
    Age: 25
    Personality: Halberd is the mellow sort of person who calmly looks on the bright side of things. He sees everything through rose-coloured glasses, and he encourages himself to share what he sees with everyone he knows and trusts. This also means that he tends to only look at the positive aspects of a person and tends to overlook the negative stuff. He believes in those he trusts, an important quality of a good leader. He also listens to those he trusts--in fact, during a typical Black Cat Bandit adventure, he would take suggestions from his friends and use them to formulate a daily plan. And when complications arise, he gently lifts them aside and goes back to his peaceful state of mind. This allows him to remain calm in most situations, but also not very well focused. If a problem arises, he's more likely to ignore it than to solve it. Or perhaps he thinks that ignoring it is the best way to solve it. Whatever.
    When Halberd is in unfamiliar territory, he can be very dependent. He gets confused and starts asking his friends what to do. (Which is good since many other Black Cat Bandits are very productive in ideas.) He's not very good at coming up with ideas, but he is good at putting other people's ideas together and setting them in action. What wonderful qualities of a group leader. ...But what about people who are not group members? Halberd tends to act indifferently to strangers. Basically he ignores everything that's different or unfamiliar, and focuses on his own in-group. This is usually good, as this motivates him to focus on the group's well-being, and help them cooperate.
    Halberd is definitely a mechanically oriented person, and not too badly skilled with computers as well. He acts as quite the inventor and fix-it person; if one of the Black Cat Bandits' gadgets or aircrafts malfunctions, Halberd's always the one to fix the problem. And when the group is not working on something, he still leads the group on various recreational activities...
    Description: (5'10" tall and 195 lbs)
    Out of all the Black Cat Bandits, Halberd is the tallest and on the largest frame. He has quite a stout stature, and might look a tad muscular were it not for the thickish layer of fat covering it. But aside from that, his hair is a rather bright chocolate brown in colour, a tad coarse in texture, and for the most part is tied in a loose braid that runs halfway down his back. However, a shorter part hangs in curls over one side of his face. Underneath that are his bright turquoise eyes, small and beady yet rather striking. He also has a dainty little moustache, although it can barely be seen from a distance away.
    Halberd's usual outfit is casual and humble yet sophisticated and different. The rather soft and cottony shirt he wears has a dark red flannel pattern, little buttons down the front, and short sleeves. He also wears a pair of black knee-length slacks, with a black kilt over it. This is fastened at the top by a dark red belt with a large silver buckle. Below all this he wears knee-length dark red socks, and black boots over them. He takes caution to keep his clothes clean at all times.
    Powers/Gadgets: Unless you count both of the aircrafts listed above (he did most of the work on them, after all), he doesn't have much in the way of gadgets. If neither of these aircrafts are present (in other words, most of the time), his only means of self-defence is a sword, which is rather lightweight but has very sharp edges... it could chop down a small tree with one swing. Of course, Halberd often ends up using this for other purposes... and when not in use, it's attached to a strap on his back. It's retro, but it's effective.
    Reason: Halberd's only here to do what he can to help his friends (the other black Cat Bandits) out, a very faithful member of the group indeed. His interest in aircrafts and mechanics in general seems to be almost innate--he's had it as long as he can remember. Having friends like the Black Cat Bandits around really is a blessing to him, due to the fact that during the earliest years of his life his parents were too busy to pay much attention to him, and he was a lonely only child. Ever since his parents did him a huge favour by adopting two boys to keep him company (Warren and Lupin, actually), his life had a nice warm touch to it...
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Name: Raymond Donly
    Alias: Warren
    Alliance: Although part of the almost-villain Black Cat Bandits, he acts a bit more like a hero. He's the most likely to pick on or fight against a villain, and also to rescue innocent civilians from trouble.
    Gender: Take a guess. (Hint: Elam spelt backwards)
    Age: 19
    Personality: Warren's personality could be similar to Halberd's, but in a different way. He too looks for the beauty in life, but the physical or emotional beauty of things rather than the positivity of them. When problems arise, he's more likely to fret or mope over it, and he might even have the tendency to become insane momentarily when he's in a panic. This is one characteristic he tries his best to control, but obviously there are those moments when he's not very successful. He gets nervous and scared quite easily, just like a little bunny rabbit. But nowadays he doesn't scream or shout when startled; he just starts quivering. However, he gets over fearful and scary moments fairly easily nowadays; once a moment of panic is over, he can return to being pleasant again quite easily, although he might occasionally mention how huge a relief it is to have the chaos overwith.

    Warren takes a good liking to animals and anything cute. This tendency to be cute gets into his head as well, to the points where he forgets to take things seriously and slips in a little joke here and there. Not to mention that he also gets confused easily. If one of his friends is in danger, he'll run around frantically wondering what to do, even if he does constantly hope for the friend's well-being. It can be noted that he takes good care of his friends--maybe that's because he doesn't want them to meet the same fate as his parents. He does the same to any person, in fact--even strangers--he's been known to try and help random people out in times of trouble.

    Warren is also the kind of person who wants to avoid trouble altogether, although he is kind of getting over that. It was once true that he was completely against taking risks, but he's gotten over that too. He tends to adapt to the beliefs of his friends, so if they all say something is okay or not okay, he'll quickly abide by it. He can be quite capable of adjusting his own attitude to fit the requirements of his friends, maybe just a little.

    Description: (5'5" tall and 120 lbs.)
    Warren's straw-coloured hair is light and wispy, and flutters pleasantly in the wind. His eyes are big and round and a bright hazel in colour, aww... Anyways, Warren has a pretty lanky figure, but people would only call him a bit thin if it wasn't for the attention paid to his cute, boyish face, or if he's not standing next to Lupin. But ah well, many people would say he's kind of cute in a little boy-ish way anyways, especially with the tiny little freckles still visible on his face. Little bunny freckes... Anyways, Warren's usual outfit consists of a yellow T-shirt with a happy face on it, faded jeans with holes at the knees, old-looking white sneakers... Oh, but you can't forget the most important thing: the racoon hat! He doesn't go anywhere without wearing this, except maybe school.

    Powers/Gadgets:
    - The "Bunny Punch" is a rather unique and almost comical-looking revolver, pink in colour with a little bunny head on the side, coloured red, blue, and yellow around the three mouths to colour-code them. This is important, because it shoots three different kinds of bullets. But none of them are normal bullets. The red section shoots out a probe-like object that latches itself onto the target, then produces a series of explosions that sounds like miniature fireworks going off. (Can be used to cause damage or a distraction.) The yellow section shoots sedative-filled needles, which Warren also carries a sort of vaccine for. The blue section shoots bullets made of compressed air, and go off more quietly than most bullets do.
    - Warren also has a device that looks like a remote control, except it can plug into any computer or computer-based control complex. The various buttons on it activate various viruses, probes, and spywares Warren has copied and modified from incoming sources over the years. Ohh, how it helps to have toyed with computer codes in the past.

    Reason: Warren adds a touch of light to the Black Cat Bandits out of the faint hopes of preventing others from what happened to his late parents. He had come from mildly eccentric yet wonderful and artistic parents, but when they went on a cruise one day, they were faced with a very Titanic-ish situation, where the ship collided with an iceberg near Greenland, and his parents were among the few people who for some reason never made it to a lifeboat. And he's generally okay with the idea of the Black Cat Bandits because... well, causing trouble was fun, as long as you have someone to protect you.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Name: Vincent Estrel
    Alias: Merlin
    Alliance: Another very neutral Black Cat Bandit. He's careful to not get involved in fights or criminal activity that often, but he can tolerate it.
    Gender: Male, believe it or not.
    Age: 21
    Personality: Merlin is an eccentric, proud, and captivating young wizard. He enjoys telling people about things he knows about and finds fascinating, which also makes him often refer to ancient legends and various works of fiction for quoting purposes. He can also be called a bookworm--he loves to read whenever he finds time. He especially loves the fantasy and science fiction books, as well as any nonfiction that has to do with paranormal topics or ancient legends. He can be seen as quite scholarly in this area, as he has shown a thirst for knowledge in his areas of deepest passion ever since he was a little boy. He's also not afraid at all of public speaking or performing, and he tends to exaggerate or stretch the truth to make it more exciting. (He especially exaggerates details about himself, making him seem a bit conceited.)
    Merlin follows a belief that everyone should be respected and appreciated for their actions, and that the concepts of good and evil are too complex to judge people by. He is a firm believer in karma and thus is aware of the consequences of doing something ev--I mean harmful--to other people. But this doesn't mean he avoids it altogether (how can any Black Cat Bandit do that?!?)--just that he doesn't "lie, cheat, kill, and steal five times a day". But, he won't hesitate to act in a harmful manner towards those who are harmful to him. Besides, he tries to sit through bad feelings that result from bad karma or bullying or such, and tries not to panic.
    Description: (5'0" tall and 105 lbs)
    Merlin is the shortest Black Cat Bandit and the one with the darkest skin--well, not too dark--just moderately tanned. Other than that, he's definitely on the petite side figure-wise. His eyes are a dark, dull green in colour, so they don't stand out by themselves. But his eyes do stand out, because Merlin usually puts on green eyeshadow. But people also pay much attention to his hair, his outfit, or the expression on his face. His straight black hair is fairly short in some places, but fairly long in the form of wispy bangs in the front, and even longer in a sort of ponytail in the back. What makes it stand out is the fact it's dyed deep purple in most places. Merlin really does dare to be different and stylish!
    Yes, different and stylish--this goes for his outfit as well, which consists of clothes he sewed together himself (except for the shoes). His shirt is made of white satin and is covered with a tightly fitting (which also means he can't button it up), long-sleeved, light jacket that is dark purple on the outside but is coated with hot pink satin on the inside (which shows up on the collar), and little bright green buttons. Hehheh, Merlin especially has talent and flair in designing jackets. Anyways, Merlin also wears deep blue pants which flare out similarly to bell-bottoms, and shoes made of a grayish leather. Also, lastly, Merlin wears two rings on his left hand, one with an amethyst stone and one with a ruby one, both wuth rune designs on them.
    Powers/Gadgets:
    - The ability to create elemental "sprites". These little energy forms usually take the form of either faery-like creatures, elemental symbols (flames, leaves, raindrops, etc), or little glowing orbs. They hold the power of one of five elements: wind, water, fire, earth, or spirit. They can be used as basic energy blasts, for distraction or spying purposes, or... well, each type of sprite has its own little ability. The wind ones create teeny little tornadoes. The fire ones breathe fire. The water ones squirt water at enemies. The earth ones emit a pollen that can daze or confuse people. The spirit ones fire little pulses of psychic energy.
    - A healing ability. This one can't heal wounds or injuries, but it can ease pain quite a bit, vitalise even the most tired people, and improve concentration and control of one's abilities. It works by stimulating the energies of one's aura, and takes more time to work on someone who's stressed or depressed or is skeptical of supernatural occurences. Merlin has also used this ability in the past to help the other Black Cat Bandits discover their own powers and abilities (if any). After all, mind over matter--you uplift the mind, you strengthen the matter. Merlin can also use this ability on himself, though it takes more of a form of meditation than the psychic connections and gentle stroking it would take on in the case of using it on another person. Obviously this only works on living things, so it can't be used on machine-based robots, for example.
    - A more protective, erm... spell... starts out as a glowing circle around the target, then expands into a cylinder. Interestingly, the cylinder is always the same size--ten feet tall, five feet in diameter. Anything inside it cannot leave the cylinder. Anything outside the cylinder cannot enter it. Anything exactly on the edge of the cylinder at the time of its creation is immobilised. So this little ability (or maybe not so little) can be used as a means of immobilisation, but it can be difficult to target. Merlin commonly uses one of these "enchanted cylinders" on himself, thus freezing anyone standing close to him in place, and preventing him from outside attacks. Tricky tricky tricky... The only downside to this ability is that only one can be made at a time, and its existence relies on concentration--so if Merlin breaks his focus on the cylinder for even a second, it vanishes.
    - In simple terms, Merlin can use telekinesis. In more complicated and specific terms, well... the ability is not that strong as a lifting force, meaning Merlin can't use it to levitate anything heavier than himself, and can't use it to fly. However, he can use it on more than one object at a time pretty easily, and the aura that appears around the object(as is the standard with this kind of ability) is very hard to see, and is invisible around himself. Haha, count on a Black Cat Bandit to make this ability less obvious...
    Reason: Merlin is mostly in this for the development and practice of his powers, but that doesn't mean he doesn't care about the goals of the group. A combination of spirituality and curiosity fuels his involvement as a Black Cat Bandit. He lived much of his life with parents who were involved with a board of paranormal research, an early source of inspiration to continue pursuit of knowledge in this area. They also practiced witchcraft in a coven, an early source of inspiration to stay harmonious with that spiritual connection all people have. Even though he continued on in the later years of his life in mostly solitude, he credits his parents for those two things, and even the discovery of some of his powers. It was in fact because of such a magical influence in his life that he gave himself the nickname Merlin. Count on him to be named after a famous wizard of Arthurian legend, after all he's been through. Besides that, though, he's glued to the Black Cat Bandits by curiosity--the (semi-) criminal life seemed rather intriguing, as long as not too much harm was done. We can note here that Merlin had the habit of taking another Black Cat Bandit on an exploration of a place believed to be haunted, to discover and embrace its secrets, to use them to his advantage later on. But of course he's also tied to the Black Cat Bandits by the elusive yet magical force of friendship, and thus takes great pride in helping them out.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Name: Edwin Tasselbury
    Alias: Lupin
    Alliance: Lupin is the reason why the Black Cat Bandits are almost villain-like in nature--he "put the Bandit in Black Cat Bandit" as Halberd noted once. As he's the driving force behind the Black Cat Bandits (without him, they'd never exist), he'll ally with no one else. If he was by himself... well, he'd most likely be a villain with a bit of a good side.
    Gender: Female. ...Wait, just kidding... male, actually. (Whew!)
    Age: 23
    Personality: Quickly, quietly, reasonably.
    This is the Black Cat Bandits' motto, but Lupin came up with it, and follows it closely. Quickly and quietly, to avoid being noticed whenever doing something in defiance of a rule or an authority. Reasonably, so as to minimise the possibility of being caught for some willy-nilly acts of thievery. Lupin is probably most noted for doing things as secretly as possible. This especially applies to theft (or any type of crime for that matter). He stays calm throughout (definitely not a "maniacal" villain), and if anyone is in the way, he's much more likely to wait or distract them with a false kindness than just push them aside. (Going for anyone but the target is pointless and might arouse suspicion, he figures.) What's more, he takes careful measures to ensure the same thing does not happen to him.

    Another thing Lupin is noted for is having an immense amount of willpower. When faced with anything from a regular ache or pain to a perilous situation, he'll push himself to or even past the limit of what he can do in order to endure or cure it, if he really has to (or at least not complain about it at all). He figures that any moment could be his last, and practically dares death to fall upon him. So of course Lupin is okay with an element of risk, all to achieve the full potential of his abilities. He's also not the one to show much emotion--he'll mantain either a smirk or cold gaze when around people, or else stick around and remain silent. Or he'll just avoid other people altogether--after all, he prefers to do things alone. However, he can tolerate being around his friends a little. There is nobody he completely trusts, although he does show quite a bit of trust in the other Black Cat Bandits.

    The thing that Lupin possibly hates the most is sunlight. Well, if he doesn't like to be noticed and can see pretty well in the dark, it would make perfect sense for him to be nocturnal. (He's the main reason why the Black Cat Bandits are as well.) He also hates bright lights in general, like those in cities at nighttime. Yes, hiding in the dark can be effective for, say, teasing and name-calling. But Lupin also takes measures to narrow down his reasons for being made fun of, which leads him to be quite fussy about his appearance, and to his development of a rather intimidating aura...

    And we go on to the miscellaneous characteristic section. Though Lupin may seem to not have much respect for people and their property, he does have respect for nature, and seeks harmony with it. I dunno, maybe he sees himself as a predator among society, like a... wolf?... might be in the wild. As for other things... It's nigh impossible to get him to fall in love with someone--I doubt even a siren or a love potion would work very well. You'll have to add some personality and friendship to establish a sense of love... Ah, speaking of friendship, loner though Lupin may seem to be, he really can't function that well unless someone is supporting him, unless he "has someone to fight for". Gotta have his pack behind him, eh?

    Description: (5'9" tall and 100 lbs)
    Lupin's hair is fairly curly and long--as in almost touching his shoulders--and a light brown in colour. (More specifically, various shades of blond.) And the fact that it has a soft texture reflects Yamiko's comment about him having "angel hair", oddly enough. His eyes are a deeper, darker brown, an interesting contrast to his skin, a very pale shade thanks to lack of sunlight. Gaunt best describes his figure, yet he manages to avoid looking weak or dead. Besides, at least his face and hands don't look that bony. You won't find a whole lot of muscle on him (except maybe on his legs, since he's a very fast runner)--just enough to be able to move around quite well. And with absence of strength there is flexibility anyways. Form really does follow function...

    Lupin wears a fairly long black jacket that fits him perfectly, so it doesn't look big on him or anything. (It actually was made by his friend Merlin.) There is the occasional golden button on the end of a sleeve or near the collar, and the dark purple embroidery on the neck, and purple satin lining what little you can see of the inside. He wears a shirt underneath the jacket, but it can't be seen at all anyways because he always buttons the jacket all the way up to his neck. Also he wears what look like black jeans, except they're made from a slightly more comfortable material. These too are not too tight or baggy. He's not a firm believer in sneakers, and thus instead wears another kind of shoe made from black leather. He also wears a pair of glasses that have rectangular lenses and barely visible frames. Without them, his vision is still pretty good, but not as good as with them. Also, he doesn't carry around any sort of bag or backpack or anything--he just keeps everything his jacket pockets for the most part.

    Powers/Gadgets:
    - Gadget 1: In what looks like a purple coin purse with the Black Cat Bandits logo on it (see picture on top) are a bunch of little tools. Some are rather simple ones--a pen, a little flashlight (what?!?), a memory stick for a computer... There's also a razor blade that's way too sharp for shaving purposes, but can be used as a weapon and conveniently fits inside most locks. Well, there can't be too many of these things, otherwise any one of them would be harder to access in a hurry.
    - Gadget 2: At first glance it looks like a lighter, but the button on the side sprouts not a flame but rather an electric current. This current is rather mild, but this "Firewand" can also sprout a stiff piece of wire with a much more powerful current running through it (so much that it glows red, hence the name "firewand"), one that can stun or knock someone out if in the right place... and do quite a bit of damage to most machines and robots as well.
    - Power 1: A sort of sixth sense allows him to sense the presence of anyone nearby, even if his other senses can't detect them. This only works with people and animals, but not something with artificial life such as a robot, nor with cameras (unfortunately). He's able to distinguish between animals and, er... civilised beings... but other than that he can't determine what kind of individual it is with this sense alone, nor what it's doing. He can determine the general direction the individual is located in and a rough idea of how close it is, but can't pinpoint its exact location. Oh and finally, "nearby" usually means around 100 feet away.
    - Power 2: Part of what attributes to Lupin's rather intimidating aura is an ability to drain energy and strength from people. This energy makes him a bit more... energetic... well, it also boosts his strength and speed and/or senses a little for a short while, and can be compared to a food source. The victim, meanwhile, is left feeling a bit more tired than before, maybe even a little dizzy or fearful or cold. This power works better the closer the victim is, but doesn't require physical contact--just extending his hand towards the victim works. It doesn't work very well during the daytime for some reason, but for another awkward reason, it works better the brighter the moon is--he can extract more energy that way and cause more damage. But it is only during a full moon that he can kill someone with this ability.

    Reason: Lupin would have never survived his childhood had he not considered defying rules and authority, had he not developed his thieving skills. He wouldn't have been alive had his mother not defied his father's wishes not to have a child. His father was both poor and cranky, and exercised any means possible to make his life into a living nightmare--even torture when possible. As a result, he frequently ventured outside the house to wander about the town, always at night because its darkness proved an excellent cover for sneaking and stealing, and it was the time when his parents (and nearly everyone) slept.

    Of course, the harshness of his life would have depressed him enough to just give up and die--but two things prevented that. First was the beauty and modest prestige of his hometown. The Tasselbury family lived in the seaside town of Markshire, on the southern coast of England. (OOC: Yes, it's another made-up town--in case you go searching the map.) Hehheh, many a stray traveler would marvel at good ol' Marky due to its liveliness and tight hold on tradition (it was definitely not a technologically advanced town), and its park and its pleasant architecture and its friendly-minded craft shops and its underground trade centre and its view of the sea and its lack of attention from most foreigners. There seemed to be a code of secrecy in this town, a code that kept its identity and location secret from any governments other than its own for centuries. It seems that Lupin, being a true Marksherian, carried on this code of secrecy when the Black Cat Bandits got together later on. The second thing was his mother, who seemed to actually love and care for him. It seems that Lupin knew that his mother wanted more than anything for his son to survive. But unfortunately, he did have to run away from town, because Mum didn't do that good a job of protecting him from Dad. Yet still, this and more special relationships later on gave him hope in his life...

    Why, then, is Lupin against evil organisations? Well, he originally wasn't, until about three years ago. For while he was exploring the underground city of Night City (gee, how creative...), he found the mafia there, and eventually joined it. Things went perfectly fine... until they picked on a girl he knew (Kelsey, who he had met in an orphanage--see her signup for more info) as a victim. When Lupin found out about this, he suddenly disappeared from Night City's mafia and "rescued" her from it. But unfortunately, a while later they plotted revenge against his disappearance by blaming one of their crimes on him, and exposing him to the police. He was sent to prison as a result. Although he did manage to escape from it after a couple of weeks, he decided it was best not to trust these big organisations from now on...

  • ...And again I exceed the character limit with my signup... This is about the third time this happened... Oh well, here's Black Cat Bandit #5.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Name: Kelsey "Yamiko" Murakage
    Alias: Silphia
    Alliance: What do you think she is... good or evil? She can pretty easily prove that she's either a hero or a villain. To a villainous group she'll talk about the people she's killed (which are usually either businessmen, politicians, or other villains) and that her boyfriend's a thief (referring to Lupin). To a heroic group she'll talk about her kind efforts towards children and poor people (in reality she's sort of a modern, female version of Robin Hood, attacking and stealing from the rich and giving to the poor) and that she's fought against villains. She could ally with other organisations, but remains the most loyal of all to the Black Cat Bandits.
    Gender: Female. This time I'm not kidding.
    Age: 18
    Personality: Yamiko is generally not a fun and happy girl. She tends to look on the negative side of things, and when presented with an idea, she's usually the first to come up with ways it can go wrong. Maybe this was due to having bad luck in the first place... (see Reason) Well, at least she's aware of negative consequences--she doesn't just head into something, not caring what can happen. Anyway, Yamiko tends to be very modest when talking about herself, and whenever someone compliments her, she often doubts it, or else feels quite embarrassed. But on the inside, she actually has a fair amount of self-confidence... though she can in no way be called conceited.
    As far as social details go... Yamiko's very ambivalent about being around friends. There are those times when she prefers to be alone, and there are those times that she really needs someone (often times a specific person) with her. But no matter which state of mind she's in, nowadays she's better at things like establishing her own personal space around people, or assuaging her loneliness. But the last part still can be difficult if she knows someone she really loves is in trouble. Speaking of which, nowadays she will work especially hard to protect her friends when they're in trouble.
    But Yamiko is mostly noted for being very emotional. In fact, although she feels otherwise confident in herself, she still occasionally has a hard time controlling her emotions. In fact, under very complicated conditions, she goes into one of two distinct emotional states, which sometimes make it seem like she suffers from manic depression. In her depressed state, her pessimism is enhanced, and she tends to act violently towards those who frustrate her--especially towards whoever (if anyone) caused her to go into this state. Her powers don't work that well in this state though... But on the other hand, there is her passion state, which is nearly the opposite. Okay, so she's not exactly overly self-confident in this state, but she's so vivacious and uplifted that if there was a meadow, she would dance a lovely ballet in it and toss all the flowers up in the air in an elegant spiral. Also, she's so optimistic in this state that she tends to overlook any problems or pitfalls in her life. And curiously, it weakens her powers the same way depression does...
    Another faery analogy we can draw here is for Yamiko's belief in all sorts of fantastical worlds and magical phenomena, claiming most of these to be ways to free herself from the hassles of everyday life. Also, she doesn't fear ghosts or spiders, and ghosts are very interesting to her because they seem to inhabit two alternate dimensions at once, and often have innate psychic abilities as well. She also deeply enjoys music, especially anything relaxing and with a pretty tune. Despite Yamiko's tendency to be downspirited, a good way to cheer her up a little might be to play some music, tell a story (faery tales and other legends are especially good), or even take her on a walk through a beautiful garden, or out into the wilderness at night to watch the stars (or just appreciate the comfort and mystery of the darkness in general).
    Ah, darkness, blackness, mischief, sin... Yamiko has developed quite an interesting dark side, which especially shows through the name Yamiko, which literally means "child of darkness". It's a cat (a black cat?) waiting to strike, to take down and eat up all the rats that had bothered and bullied her when she was a kitten. (see Reason) She believes that to fight evil you must be evil, like fighting fire with fire, in order to be effective. She feels especially justified when doing bad things to bad people (a taste of their own medicine perhaps?), or even people who sin in any way. She enjoys finding excuses to take people (especially rich, upper-class men for some reason) down. Do I see a bloodthirst developing here...?
    Description: (5'2" tall and 90 lbs)
    Yamiko is built as lightly and gently as a faery, a tad thin yet modestly curvy shape-wise. Yes, the almond faery... for her skin is a shade similar to that of the inside of an almond. A lovely contrast to this is her deep indigo eyes, which seem to look more and more beautiful as one gets to know her better. But yet, one hint at a generally miserable soul is the fact that her straight, shoulder-length hair tends to look like it's bleeding... well, the shade of red does resemble that of blood. But anyone who happens to touch it will notice it feels more like silky feathers...
    From looking at her outfit, it's easy to guess that Yamiko prefers to wear cool colours. First, a light purple shirt on top. It would look like a turtleneck sweater if the sleeves weren't so short, the neck part so wide (it must fit a huge-necked person snugly), and the bottom only going down to just above her belly button. Over this she wears a soft, darker purple sweater, which instead of buttons has a tie around the waist, is long enough to almost cover her knees, and has two large pockets on the sides. These compliment her blue jeans, which fit snugly and flare out a tiny bit on the bottom. Oh, and she wears black sneakers too, if it really matters. Who would pay much attention to her feet anyways? They'd more likely pay attention to the way her soft-looking black hat looks so perfect there on her little red head. Good--now all she needs is butterfly wings and... never mind, she's not really a faery. Besides, she doesn't need wings to fly, as you'll see later.
    Powers/Gadgets: Yamiko could definitely be classified as a psychic, due to the powers she has:
    - The power she uses the most often is telepathy. This means she can talk to people mentally, even when they're on the other side of the universe. It also means that other people can talk to her mentally by focusing on her and thinking. It does not mean that she can read minds, but people must be careful when sending telepathic messages to her--for anything they're thinking about at the time also gets sent to her. Yamiko has been known to spontaneously pick up people's deepest secrets this way... although she can't force them out of course.
    - The power she uses the second most often is telekinesis. Oh--so that makes two telekinetic Black Cat Bandits (the other being Merlin)! Well, this doesn't mean Yamiko and Merlin have the same ability. If telekinetic powers were muscles, for a comparison, Merlin would be the little shrimp with the speed and finesse, a juggler perhaps, while Yamiko would be the big and brawny one, a professional boxer perhaps. With this ability she can lift things as heavy as a car, and with enough effort she can crush or distort the shape of things, and shatter windows pretty easily. She can even use this ability to fly, and can carry one other person with her while she does so. However, unlike Merlin, she can only focus on one object at a time, and she has a hard time moving small objects around without dropping or breaking them.
    - Yamiko can also harness psychic energies in the form of energy blasts. The most common of these is achieved by building up pressure in her mind, then releasing the energy in a ring that expands outward. Keep in mind it's psychic energy, so it causes "mental damage" in addition to physical damage, a sort of mental shock.
    - The last is a pretty scary and cruel one if you think about it, as it's used primarily to cause pain, a magical form of torture. It can also have a "voodoo effect", to control one's physical movements. Yes, it can be a painful force to go up against (literally) and is made worse by the fact that it doesn't often miss (it just requires looking at and focusing on the target to use), but its effects are pretty easy to lift--you just have to make a non-twitching movement (like punching forcefully at the air, or something) or make some sort of mental assurance that you will not be harmed by this force.
    Reason: First we must understand where she comes from...
    Yamiko lived her life under a supposed curse that her great-grandmother, Celia, cast upon her. She came to be when a foolish, twelve-year-old Murakage girl named Mai ventured out into the world and fell in love with a much older stage magician named Dan. The two immediately had a child, but Mai died while giving birth. Two people heard about this: Dan and Celia. Both of them decided on names for the girl that was born: Celia came up with Yamiko and Dan came up with Kelsey. But Celia wasn't around at the time, so the girl was named Kelsey. Living with her father, Dan, was fine for a while...
    Then a bad thing happened: one day decided to take Kelsey and all his money with him to the bank. On the way, a group of teenage boys ambushed them and took all the money, leaving Dan and Kelsey poor from then on. During the ambush, Kelsey just sat by and watched and cried--what could she do against a group of older boys? What was worse, after years of poverty, she was separated from her father and brought to an orphanage...
    Then a good thing happened: while there she made friends with a boy named Edwin. Though initially intimidated by the fact that he was a thief, she noticed he was otherwise kind and respectful to her. What's more, she began to surmise that maybe bullies and criminals and the so-called "super villains" weren't so bad and fearsome after all... Even though someone came along shortly to adopt Edwin, this surmisation proved useful for a long time... Besides, after about eight years, they met up again... and traveled around the underground town of Night City. She had even fallen in love with Edwin Lupin by then.
    Then a terrible thing happened: Lupin was sent to prison (for reasons discussed in his signup). This time, Kelsey still couldn't do much, but at least she didn't cry (at least not immediately), and saved his Firewand (see his signup) from confiscation...
    Then a wonderful thing happened: not only did Lupin escape from prison, but he claimed that he was inspired to do it by a telepathic message from Kelsey. This led to Kelsey's discovery of her powers... What's more, the events in her life so far and what she heard about Lupin's life helped her realise that all the misfortune she deals with (and perhaps the whole Murakage curse) is not completely bad--that it makes her stronger in a way. For the first time in her life, perhaps, Kelsey felt quite a bit of self-confidence--she actually felt warm inside, that life was not a burden at all.
    Then a fairly bad thing happened: Celia died.
    Then another wonderful thing happened: by that time Kelsey was really happy for Celia, and Celia was really happy for Kelsey for learning the secret of the Murakage curse. Kelsey showed her appreciation by calling herself Yamiko from then on.
    Where, then, did Yamiko's dark side really come from? It could have come from revenge for Dan being robbed or for Celia casting the curse--perhaps she feels a hidden need to drag people down to her level (that would explain why she usually goes after the wealthy or the snobby). It could have come from her relationship with Lupin--perhaps she grew accustomed to helping him, a criminal syndicate perhaps. But it most likely came from a belief that has been reinforced all her life: "only the strong survive, and they survive by feeding off the weak..." And on the flip side, her "light side" may have been inspired by the continuation of the quote: "...and/or by helping the weak become strong". And a wise old crone (a.k.a. Celia) once told her that balance is the key to everything.
  • @Chabz: XDDDD I guess that's what I get for RP'ing as my favourite characters. Mwahahahaha. (Wait--my characters aren't completely villains...) *kisses Lupin* *avoids getting slapped by Yamiko*
    Erm, yeah... In these RPG's I usually find it impossible to shorten the Black Cat Bandits' signups (I've RP'd them before) or tone down their awesomeness, but... yeah well, they're not extremely awesome anyway.
    Haha, don't you feel special? I'm notorious for copying-and-pasting parts of signups, but I only did that for about 45% of this signup's content. (This is the first RPG where they had powers, for one...)
  • slurp... this one was pretty lazy.
    Name: Narcissa "Cissa" Evrard
    Alias: the stranger
    Alliance: Definitely leaning towards villainy, but won't work for anyone else but herself.
    Gender: female, I believe. hopefully
    Age: 10
    Personality:
    -everyday: At first, it seems like you would be talking to a intelligent and clever young girl, but it is easy to be fooled. Under that mask of calm delight seethes something callous and lacking in compassion. Cissa can be terribly indifferent to the hurt she's brought upon peers. She enjoyed acting, and it's probably one of her best things. In school she thought most of her peers were scum, though this did not deter her from mocking and degrading the worst. If anyone was her friend, it was because Cissa had the nerve to say things best left unsaid.
    -alter ego: Much like usual, only 'the stranger' is even more impulsive and aggressive. The stranger never backs down from a threat but usually doles out death for no apparent reason.
    Description: (i hate describing clothes)
    -On duty: On nights when the stranger is seen, she can usually be found with a tattered old scarf found in the attic of her old home, a bit of a vessel of sentimental value. if you catch a glimpse of the stranger's face, you'll see a deep bloody cut slashing diagonally from eye to neck. these wounds are typical everywhere. clothes conclude of fitting purple sweater, underneath that a black tanktop, a black and white plaid skirt, and some old pair of black shoes she's had for a while.
    -Casual: Er, Cissa usually wears brighter colors. The typical dark get up is only to avoid notice in her usual time of activity. Since RPG characters don't usually change clothes, she usually has another light blue sweater, a brown top underneath that, and capri pants. 4 feet even and about 60 something pounds, really. Other features that might be required include pale blue eyes and stringy brown locks, I suppose.
    Powers/Gadgets:
    -gadget 1: a knife. simple, looks like a bloody kitchen knife, however, if you burn the blade hot enough you can reshape and lengthen the blade. the blade itself's made of a strange, perpetually sharp steel and can hold no evidence of blood or DNA, etc.
    -gadget 2: a lighter chance found on the road. it can burn material, provided it was lit long enough.
    -power 1: indifference to pain. or rather, things that would usually cause a normal person to end up screaming (a broken arm, nasty burns, deep lacerations, etc) are shrugged off casually. this is a problem at times. you do not want to be walking around on a broken foot, although it would set and heal given time, due to power 2.
    -power 2: healing ability. of course, to counter out power 1, Cissa has quick healing and regeneration powers. anything from a minor bruise to a improperly set bone can heal given time. healing burns energy. (i should work out a mathematical equation for this.) pushing stress on a broken part will deter the time it takes to heal.
    Reason: Cissa likes to kill/hurt/maim people (and animals) in her spare time. For fun. It's a good way to vent and release. Having lived with a drunkard of a father and a bipolar -- of a mother does not help her in the slightest. Bored of just plain bullying and cruelty, she finally takes a life. er, lives: her mother and father. Temporarily discarding the evidence, she was later found somewhere wandering alone after dark. Cissa took great pride in getting away with the murder of her parents, it seems. Seeing as both parents were dead, Cissa was sent of to her father's sister's household to live.
    Sorry I didn't bring any of the heroes you wanted. Maybe later?
