While I'm a fan of those Pokemon, you may want to look at your type coverage, since you might be in for a tough time if you run into a strong Rock type Pokemon. A Pokemon like Swampert (if you can get one over from RSE) might be a good choice there, as it has two seperate advantages over Rock types. Don't know who I'd suggest for a sixth, as I'm not much of a competitive battler myself, but it can never hurt to have some additional type coverage in there as well.

Yes, I found that as a big problem. Yesterday, all of my pokemons were killed by a Nidoking with a Rock Slide in the Trainer Tower. Anyway, I'm planning to add a Blissey in my team but changed track after reading your reply. It's a great idea. Thank you!

  • LeafGreen:

The four I beat the Elite Four with:

    Pikachu (f) - L64:
    Naive nature, Static
    Thundershock
    Brick Break
    Rock Smash
    Thunderbolt
Been one of my best friends ever since Viridian Forest

    Kadabra (f) @ Blackglasses - L65:
    Modest nature, synchronize
    Confusion
    Psybeam
    Thief
    Psychic
I drove myself crazy on searching on routes 24 and 25 because I'd decided I wanted a female Abra with synchronize, but finding one with a modest nature made it totally worth it.

    Blastoise (f) @ Leftovers - L65
    Calm nature, torrent
    Water Pulse
    Surf
    Ice Beam
    Strength
My trusty starter. Getting a female was pure luck.

    Dragonite (f) @ Leftovers - L64
    Lax nature, inner focus
    Wing Attack
    Thunder Wave
    Outrage
    Fly
Late-game replacement for my previous flyer, Fearow. Managed to catch a Dratini in the Safari Zone, so I figured I might as well add it to my team.

And the rest of the team:

    Starmie - L56
    Hardy nature, natural cure
    Bubblebeam
    Surf
    Psychic
    Swift
    My best friend when caving.

    Graveler (f) - L53
    Naive nature, rock head
    Rock Slide
    Earthquake
    Magnitude
    Dig
A main team member for quite a while, but haven't had much need for past the Power Plant.

    Fearow (m) - L42
    Rash nature, keen eye
    Fly
    Aerial Ace
    Drill Peck
    Secret Power
My trusty flyer since early game, but not as cool as a dragon. Sorry Fearow.

    Meowth (m) - L28
    Naughty nature, pickup
    Pay Day
    Bite
    Flash
    Cut
    HM and Pickup buddy

So far I've beat the Elite Four for the first time, all set to head back to the Sevii Islands, and... kinda stalled out on the game. So now I'm playing Sapphire, where I've gotten all 8 badges and am currently running around rematching trainers and grabbing items I didn't have the field moves to access the first time I was in the area as I prepare to head to the Elite Four.

    Sapphire:

    My current team:

    Girafarig (f) @ Blackglasses - L59
    Naughty nature, early bird
    Confusion
    Psybeam
    Crunch
    Stomp
Traded in my previous psychic for this lovely as soon as I reached the Safari Zone, because Girafarig is the best. Slayer of ghosts, psychics, fighters, poison types, and anything that can be Stomped.

    Manectric (f) @ Magnet - L64
    Brave nature, static
    Spark
    Thunderbolt
    Quick Attack
    Flash
Overleveled from leading the party on all those water routes

    Walrein (f) @ Nevermeltice - L50
    Calm nature, thick fat
    Aurora Beam
    Ice Beam
    Waterfall
    Dive
The last addition to my party, but no less valued for that.

    Linoone (f) - L22
    Quirky nature, pickup
    Tackle
    Cut
    Rock Smash
    Headbutt
    HM and pickup buddy

    Pelipper (f) @ Mystic Water - L52
    Timid nature, keen eye
    Water Gun
    Surf
    Wing Attack
    Fly
A companion since early game, equally useful for Surfing and Flying me around and for taking out fire, bug, and ground types

    Combusken (m) @ Charcoal - L52
    Adamant nature, blaze
    Ember
    Fire Punch
    Double Kick
    Peck
My trusty starter. Slayer of normal and dark types, took down Team Aqua near single-handedly. I'll probably replace Peck with Brick Break before the Elite Four, but Double-Kick has been all the fighting firepower I've needed.

And a few retired party members:

    Graveler (f) - L38
    Rash nature, sturdy
    Strength
    Rock Smash
    Magnitude
    Dig
A valued team member for a long time, but at this point I don't have much need for her except for field moves. She was great for combo-ing Earthquake with Pelipper's Surf in double battles.

    Kadabra (f) - L36
    Quirky nature, inner focus
    Confusion
    Thief
    Psychic
    Teleport
A useful psychic for a while, but just doesn't match Girafarig's versatility

Here's my most recent LeafGreen team. Not my usual team since it has four "storyline" pokemon, but I was curious to see how a run with them would go. I wasn't disappointed, but it wasn't my most aggressive team either.

    B - THUG / Venusaur - 51
    Frenzy Plant
    Toxic
    Leech Seed
    Razor Leaf

    DABZ / Kadabra - 51
    Shadow Ball
    Shock Wave
    Psychic
    Recover

    FELICIA / Ninetales - 50
    Attract
    Confuse Ray
    Will - O - Wisp
    Flamethrower

    BRANIGAN / Jolteon - 53
    Thunderbolt
    Double Kick
    Pin Missile
    Quick Attack

    SMOKEY / Snorlax - 49
    Body Slam
    Yawn
    Hyper Beam
    Earthquake

    TR3350 / Lapras - 51
    Surf
    Body Slam
    Confuse Ray
    Ice Beam

ZERK / Fearow - 35 (used early in game, deposited)
    Fury Attack
    Pursuit
    Fly
    Mirror Move

Overall a pretty basic type spread- grass, fire, water, electric, normal, psychic with the flying type I used for a decent portion of the game until I deposited it for snorlax. Still, I had fun. I'm excited to go with a more aggressive team build for my next play through.

Here's the team I just clocked into the hall of fame on emerald:

    Swampert - 54
    Ice Beam
    Take Down
    Earthquake
    Surf

    Kadabra - 51
    Psychic
    Shock Wave
    Recover
    Shadow Ball

    Skarmory - 49
    Fly
    Steel Wing
    Swift
    Toxic

    Absol - 49
    Swords Dance
    Quick Attack
    Slash
    Bite

    Manectric - 48
    Bite
    Quick Attack
    Spark
    Thunderbolt

    Ninetales - 49
    Quick Attack
    Will o wisp
    Confuse Ray
    Flamethrower

    DEPOSITED:

    Mightyena - 34
    Tackle
    Howl
    Swagger
    Bite

    Swellow - 25
    Wing Attack
    Double Team
    Focus Energy
    Quick Attack

Gotta say, this has probably been my favorite run and favorite Emerald team that I've ever made. I love how diverse it is, with Pokemon from Kanto, Johto and Hoenn. I also decided to include the Pokemon I deposited, Mightyena and Swellow helped me through the early game, but I replaced their slots with Absol and Ninetales. Overall I like how this run turned out, hands down the best run that I've ever had. There's nothing like your starter Pokemon being the last one standing on your team with 27 HP left as it barely pulls the win out. Gotta love a close match sprinkled with the cliches that make Pokemon beautiful.
