Why is Red appearing every where now?

Jasmin is also in 3 games, 2 battle and one she gives you an HM.

Cynthia appears in 3 game sets. Four now so she appears more times than Red as an NPC.

Steven appears 3 or 4 times as well.

Professor Oak has made a good number of Cameos.

  • I think they can't really have the other trainers be in the story because, well, half the time they don't exist.

In the originals, there was only the option to play as Red, so no matter what it would be Red becoming the champion etc. But, once they brought in the female protagonist, you can't say Gold won the Johto league/Kanto league, because what about Kris? And same with Brendan/May, Lucas/Dawn etc. If gamefreak decides to have one of the MCs be champion, then it messes up the system. Better to just leave it as is.

And I think Red is STILL considered to be the ultimate trainer since once they put him in Gold/Silver/Crystal to be the ultimate trainer, they couldn't really take that position away. And again, Steven can't be the ultimate trainer since in Ruby/Sapphire he was just the champion.

As said before, he is always there because he was the first Pokemon Champion, (Well second, but whatever) so it makes sense that he would appear to be the secret boss at least in G/S/HG/SS.

It's nice that they include him because it's a nod to the original generation of Pokemon games that started it all. Red represents the spirit of the old school 90's kids even today in new games.

Of course, it would be nice to have a Pokemon game, perhaps on console, in which you toured and met every player character. A more open ended game with every continent available.

Thread moved to Pokemon General cause its really about reappearences of characters. Can continue with "What character reappears more than one game" discussion here since its not really specific to B2W2's gameplay.

  • I agree with Xander all the way.

He is the original main character, and became the Kanto Champion which explains his appearance in B2/W2's World Tournament and his "bonus boss" status in G/S/C/HG/SS.

Red is the most iconic Trainer in the entire series, cos he was also the inspiration for Ash in the anime. Not to mention that like Ash, Red's signature Pokemon is also a Pikachu.

Red is currently the only character to appear in all generations so far, albeit not in every game.

In a way, Red... isn't actually in many games? He was in RBY and FRLG, sure, but that doesn't count for much since he was the protagonist. He appeared in GSC, and thus appeared in HGSS, which doesn't exactly count as an entirely separate game. And, since he was in GSCHGSS as an NPC trainer of high esteem, naturally he's in BW2's Pokemon World Tournament, along with all the other big name NPC trainers you've battled. All (two of) his appearances after GSC can be attributed solely to him being in GSC to begin with. If they hadn't decided to put him at the top of Mt. Silver way back then, I doubt he'd have ever shown up again.

  • Red is in B2W2 because he's the only playable character to appear as an NPC in the games, so he's the only one to have an AI team. You could include Gold, Brendan and Lucas (as well as their female counterparts), but which team would you give them? Red is an NPC as well as the playable character, so building a team for him that characterizes him is much easier.

little know fact red was supposed to have a poliwrath instead of pikachu stupid anime Red is such a boss he is everywhere
Actually, that's Pokemon Specials Red, as much as love the guy, he isn't 100% identical with Game!Red. And Poliwrath was Red's first Pokemon in the Special manga,, just like Blue's was Scyther, and in the games his first was either Bulbasaur, Charmander or Squirdle. And Red appears so much as he was the first main character in series, and many character's especially from Kanto, are also quite recurring.

  • Well the Kanto region has appeared multiple times too along with it's gym leaders so it's kind of a given even without counting B2W2.
Red and Green (boy) have appeared in 12 games (13 games in Japan).
    Lance in 12/13 as well
    Steven has 7 games
Cynthia has 9 games having appeared in all of gen IV and so far in all of the gen V games (honestly Gf seems to like Cythia more than Red Imo).
Alder has four. And those are only the champs

I don't see the big deal tbh, although I would like to see Ethan/Gold in some more games, since he was my favourite protag from all of the games.
