    I never played the second (G/S/C) generation games, and I havent exactly had any problems XD I actually played the 3rd generation (R/S/E) before the 1st and the 4th.

    At pokemon events I always see like little 6 to 10 year olds playing the game, so if they can grasp it, I don't think you'll have a problem. Just learn as you go! ^_^

    To be honest, I thought it was more complex than R/S/E.
    But it's pretty easy to catch on to, so you'll be fine.
