Worst anime endings

What was your worst anime ending? How did you feel after ward?

Mine was Death Note's and Code Geass's endings x(

It depends what mood I find myself in. Sometimes I'm happy about the end of Death Note and others the opposite. Sometimes I love the ending Elfen Lied, sometimes "why the **** did they ******* do that, it could have been so much better"

I wouldn't like to say any that end really sad as they can be most fitting but i did think that Gantz could have been written better.

If I'm in a cynical mood any animé that finishes with a miracle also could annoy me, Clannad and Kanon would be prime examples. Lucky i love those so much it's not too bad.

And I thought this thread was about anime EDs, like the songs they play at the end of an episode. Anyways, I'll start off with something unexpected (for those who know me anyway). These are examples of bad endings only, by the way.

Clannad ~After Story~

Spoiler:

I think there were thousands of ways that Clannad AS could have ended better. Having a miracle ending with a best case scenario just feels a bit out of place for me, even if it's been hinted throughout the show. I would have went for a more bittersweet ending. Still, this doesn't keep Clannad from being my absolute favorite anime series of all time. The experience of the journey is more important than the destination.

Valkyria Chronicles

For a show that tried to make war realistic and demonstrating personal problems people would go through, the ending was horrifically typical of a shounen anime, akin to Dragon Ball Z.

The ending to the anime of Fruits Basket annoyed me because there was much more of the story to be told (that gets told in the manga). I guess I could say the same for a lot of anime that are based off manga.
I dont really like endings where "they all lived happily ever after"

Which is why I love stuff like Cowboy Bebop, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Death Note...sometimes I feel its more fitting that even my favourite characters die

I love wolves. The action was great and everything, but what the hell happened in the end?

Zombie Loan.

Anti-climatic ending. The OVA should have saved it, but they decided to go with a whole different story.

Had any of the characters shown this level of crazy before the final episode, then I could understand the ending but... it came out of nowhere. I expected them to be crazy because at least the mental breakdown of nearly everyone was hinted at but... never ever violence. :| It was just silly. I forced myself to watch the whole thing because I wanted to see how such a boring anime had such a ridiculous ending but the ending still came out of nowhere and seemed out of place. Oh well.

Neon Genesis Evangelion

:( I'm one of the people who disliked the ending to the original series. I'd be fine with it if they'd sort of... built up to it more? Maybe it's because I watched it while running on absolutely no sleep or something but it just seemed really out of place. Or maybe it didn't. I dunno. My favourite part of the series was the fights & the whole... physical contact with the Angels. It was the main appeal for me so switching it to a purely psychological thing was just boring. u_u; But I know there's a stigma toward the people who hated the original ending (and preferred the "new" endings, which I do) so I don't like admitting it lmao.

Umineko no Naku Koro ni

I know there is going to be more to it (I think?) but I was hoping they'd end it with an arc that gives more closure than whatever the hell it ended with. :'( Like at least Higurashi left me confused & wanting more, but I could deal if it had simply ended there. This one just... didn't. ;_; It was really disappointing.

The only one I could think of was Angel Beats! mainly because of the love between Kanade and Yuzuru, it's quite sad when thinking about it :<
I swear everyone who watched that ending cried

and possibly the end to Full metal alchemist too. I got emotional over Ed getting killed in that ending

OK I didn't exactly watch the series, but I read the summaries of each episode on Wiki and then watched the final, uncensored minutes of the final episode on YT. Come on, I would understand better if they had shown psychotic and violent sides throughout the entire series, like in Higurashi. The manga's ending was better than this (though it also brought psychotic violence out of nowhere).

Full Moon o Sagashite/Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne

Both series were done by the same mangaka, and both animes ended with an effing cliffhanger. So what if the manga shows what happens afterwards, both animes didn't get as far as their manga counterparts, so an epilogue would've REALLY been nice >.>

i did finish it in the end though. i can't say i hated the ending.

although it was odd that all of a sudden everyone (thought they) knew everything about everyone's plan.. so confuzzling.

.. as for endings that made me cry,
Angel Beats!'s ending did, Full Moon wo Sagashite's did too though. i don't think it was much of an open ending really. i haven't read the manga, but i thought the ending was completely different in the manga? ahwell.

it's true BRS had.. quite a bit of an open ending though.
it made me think it'd all happen again, the other way around.. ahwell.

If you mean the saddest ending, it would probably be 5 centimeters per second. I did not cry, but it left a weird feeling. Oh, and Death Note's ending was pretty screwed up, too. I mean

first L's death which made me drop the anime for about 3 months, then Light's death, which pretty much destroyed me >.<

By worst, there are countless anime that had pretty bad ending. School Day's is THE perfect example of a bad, messed-up ending.

That was a case of the anime ending before the manga was completed (of course, the manga is still ongoing so there is no proper ending at the moment). I didnt really like that ending either.
