Ooh for me it would be dragon quest 9, spent hours grinding trying to beat grottos. I'm still grinding.

Actually, aside from Mario Kart 7 when I first got my 3DS, those last 4 games were the only ones that I bought for myself this year.

Mine would have to be Call of Duty Black Ops II.

I played that game an insane amount this year. Followed by the Mass Effect series, because a friend and I did an entire playthrough of the series together. Then followed by Dark Souls.
