It's fairly rare, but not extremely.

Back when we were kids it was like the rarest card one could have.

When you say "original", I think of the sets that Wizards of the Coast printed as the "original" sets (Base, Jungle, Fossil, Rocket, Base Set 2, Team Rocket, Gym Heroes, Gym Challenge, Neo Genesis, Neo Discovery, Neo Revelation, and Neo Destiny).

When you say "original", I think of the sets that Wizards of the Coast printed as the "original" sets (Base, Jungle, Fossil, Rocket, Base Set 2, Team Rocket, Gym Heroes, Gym Challenge, Neo Genesis, Neo Discovery, Neo Revelation, and Neo Destiny).

Regardless of whether or not he meant the actual sets or the original 151 Pokémon, I still have waaaay more originals then the others. XD By at least 20 when comparing to the Johto Pokémon and sets.​

The rarest Pokemon TCG item I have is the Japanese Green/Red vending promo deck set, so I guess either the holo Scyther, Articuno, Zapdos or Moltres from those could be the single rarest cards I have. Some of you may have never heard of them, since they're really old (1998) Japanese promos that were never released in English. Here they are on eBay:

Some of those did get printed in English, but only as Black Star Promos, if I recall, with the exception of Master Ball, which was printed in a set.
