I was this close to spelling his last name ketchup, anyways back onto topic what are your thoughts on Ash? What do you think of him back then, and what do you think of him now?

I thought he was the greatest trainer on earth when I was little. As time grew and so did the seasons (around season 8) I realized that he could've been way stronger than he was at that time. And now in the DP series the last episode I watched involved him batteling the gym leader in vileston (frogot her name) and I was suprised that it ended up in a draw.

Im not sure where he is now but I hope he is training a lot more than what he has been doing.

I liked him more from Kanto-Jhoto, then he traveled to Hoenn and I haven't followed him since. I hope he's doing alright. At least they didn't make him uber-powerful. He actually gets pwned, at times.

... At least his cockiness didn't grew as the series continued.

He did get pwned by Paul... his got defeated in a full battle and Ash only knocked out his Ursaring and Honchkrow.

Maylene is the leader of Veilstone right? I don't know actually but I do know that they tied in their gym battle.

I used to like Ash when he was a newbie and clueless and only had his trust with his Pokemon, but after Johto I found him to be a little bit arrogant and very annoying because of his training and not participating in gyms as much. Nowadays he seems very stale because his static personality had changed from naive and non-arrogance to extreme confident and overly cocky... I miss the old Ash. :(

Again, I found he was great when I was little. But, as I got older, I started to doubt him a little. He was always annoyingly cocky, and got whatever he wanted on the first try (second, tops).

That, and he is mercilessly cruel to the unsung heroes of the show...

i don't like ash, no, not even a little, he's like a crying worm, how many time in the movie that he bowed, hid his eyes under his hat, shook and cried? oh god, i just can't stand his way of expressing emotion, may be he' ssensitive but to me, he's more like a pretender.
and how many years since he first became a trainer that he doesn't grow up and same battle style? Ash will take a long time if don't want to say forever to become pokemon master

This reminds me of the dreaded "Sick of Ash?" thread of a little while ago though the smilie in the title does give me hope.

Anyway, I like Ash. I hope he stays but it won't bother me if he doesn't.

He can be pretty stupid. I only really know him up to Johto though, not sure how he is now. He can be annoying, but he's the main protagonist, I can't hate him. :P

I like Ash Ketchum. For many years I thought for sure that he was going to get old. But now I'm starting to like him again, lol. He never gets old anymore. I would miss him if he were gone. lol. Unless Silver got his time, for once, and had a show to his own, lol.

I liked him when he was stupid back in Kanto. The show made me laugh. Now, I can't even watch it.

What scared me more was the lifespan of that thing. o_0 I thought it would never die.

I like Ash. I don't know where people are coming up with arrogant and over-confident...

He completely lacks a personality because virtually everyone in Pokemon is a Mary-Sue character; being handed everything to them for no real reason and pretending like they've learned when they keep making the same mistakes over and over.

That being said, lack of personality does equate to lack of a personality that I hate, so...yeah, Ash is a pretty cool guy. He has God Mode on and doesn't afraid of anything.

I hypothesized that the Pokémon world is socialist to explain why most of the characters had everything handed to them with the exception of Jessie's backstory. Ash doesn't have to pay for the services for provided at the Pokémon center. If he does, that would make the anime seem too preppy since only Pokémon training (and trying to earn gym badges) can be done by the upper-middle and upper classes as those familes could finance their children's adventures. Delia Ketchum does not act live like a preppy mother.

Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's initially tried to do this by having its protagonist locked in a ghetto in the first episodes.

That being said, lack of personality does equate to lack of a personality that I hate, so...yeah, Ash is a pretty cool guy. He has God Mode on and doesn't afraid of anything.

Ash does have a personality; he has a strong bond with his Pokémon with the expection of his Pidgeot as he has forgotten about it.

I used to like Ash when he was a newbie and clueless and only had his trust with his Pokemon, but after Johto I found him to be a little bit arrogant and very annoying because of his training and not participating in gyms as much. I agree, but Sarah Natochenny does a good job play Ash. However, she does not match the old Ash though, but at least Ash was played well enough to at least show that he is capable of empathizing with his Pokémon and have a light-hearted personality. I do not like the Diamond and Pearl Ash, but I think he does a good job as a foil for Paul (in my opinion he is one reason why some episodes of Diamond and Pearl are worth watching.)
