Gofre; I pretty much knew what you was going to say, I just wanted to look cool with a question.. >.<

It would seem pretty elogical though tho then have just Lugia looking after the birds and not the dogs (Does Ho-Oh protect the dogs?).
I think it's just one of those empty story lines, when they was a bit stuck for ideas..
    In the Game Freak office:
Man: We're stuggling for storylines.. And ideas team?
Man #2: Why not put the legendary birds back in.. And call them DOGS! Think of all the money's we could make!
Commitee around the table(Incl. the Men): *Droool* Money's... *Drool some more*

Hannah: yeah!!! i just realised that as i was writing and i was like :o lol

Zungie: Nice theory, but ive been adding to this thread since the off and its more or less established that arceus created mew. But thinkin about it it could work either way. Its a chicken/egg situation really. Here's a hypothetical version of events if mew did in fact make arceus and arceus turned evil:
    *Mew makes arceus, a super-powered god-poke
    *Arceus goes mental
    *Mew runs away
*Arceus Destroys the universe and creates the state of chaos described in the myths
*This takes all of arceus' strength, so he restarts his life in the form of an egg, creates a new unverse upon hatching, and then goes into dormant state to regenerate fully.
*Mew survives the chaos in one of the bubbles he can create, then re-appears when he sees the world has been re-established.

That was a quick theory, i still perfer the arceus came first one but this one's a bit darker lol. If this is the case then perhaps arceus is evil and sadistic and made a world just so he can blow it up again? doctor evil style lol

    Any thoughts?
    :)
hmm i kinda like that but i would think it would be more like...

Arsuces gets mad w/ power and starts destroying everything and then Mew comes out to stop it...in a long battle mew finaly prevails and seals arues's power into the plates.. the "god" is then turned into the egg thing... hatches recreates the universe adn blah blah blah..Mew knowing aruces has returned used its power again to seal aruces to teh top of spear pillar and teh only way to re-awaken it was to paly the mystical tune of the azure flute...
edit: and about the 3rd movie thing Yes teh entie was fake the unkown turned the girls father into it because she thought entie was here gaurdain or something adn heard aout the legend, but it wasn't real...

Near enough in a nutshell of what I tried to say.
    >.<

The big faceoff would've been intersting..
Being as Mew could just recreate more pokémon's, and Arceus was some uber power maniac.

    EDIT:
Diageo; It was more of a joke than anything.
But all it boild down too is a few subtle differences.

    add on the final battle...

Mew at the top of spear pillar is about to finish off Arueses while aruses is tring desperatly to muster up all of its remainign power...Mew fires its blast and so does arueses the blast was so strong that the explosion nearly desrtoyed the entire mountain arues stood deafeted and sealed up, but in the blast areses also sheilded a branch and carved it into a flute that contained a large amount of both Mew's and Arueces's powers and would have enough power to unlock him and it was indestructable Mew just realizing this finds the flute and hides it forever....

and thus is teh story of teh Azure flute...

Arceus thinks he has the better of Mew, but little did he know, Mew had a little trick up his sleeve. There was only 1 oppertunity, 1 time he could gather enough strength. So Me travelled to the highest point on a planet named Earth, and waited for moonrise. As the moon appeared from behing small hills, Mew began to shine a slivery grey colour. The Arceus stood there, nearly amused by the oppertunity of finishing of Mew. The small pink creature's eyes began to open. A bright light shone from it's eyes, blinding that of Arceus. In rage and confusion, Arceus uses it's final, most powerfull attack, known to destroy planets. Arceus blasted Mew with the 1st part of Judgement. The Mew gritted it's teeth and shut it's eyes again. Mew felt her insides start to disconfigure.. Was this it, the end of Mew and all of Pokémon? The feeling inside Mew grows, but what happens next is an act of true amazement. The Mew opens it's eyes again, they still beam this white light. The Arceus throws Mew a pittyfull laugh. Then with a mighty raw, Mew throws a white, silvery light at Arceus. A bubble grows larger, and larger. It starts to fill up the Universe, pushing planets off course. Then after a high pitched noise inside the bubble, it pop's. Shards of power fly out of the bubble, crashing onto Earth. This was it. Mew lies down, and closes her eyes. The Mew turns into a small oval, simmilar to the shape Pokémon get before being born. Flowers of bold colours, and grass as green as Bulbasaur's back, in what looked like the shape of a tree. Besides the small egg lay a branch that had snapped from one of the many flourishing oak trees. One day a small boy, maybe 7 or 8 years of age, comes across this small twig on an adventure in the land. He notices the branch is hollow, more at one ant than the other. The boy picks it up and gives it a toot. Clouds of purple and blue gathered across the green pastures. The boy dropped the stick and ran home, where he cried himself to sleep. Noone know what blowing into that stick did. All that is know, is that it was powerfull, and that the power could only be best described as having an evil presence.

The bubble getting larger = Arcues' power hitting the sides, increasing mass.
Arceus is turned into an egg, which is left to the readers disgretion.

I think all of you are overthinking the whole thing a bit. Gamefreak can do whatever they want because their target audience is probably 8-12 years old, and the naivity of that age group makes it possible for the new "legends" to be whatever they want them to be as long as they look cool. It sucks for older Poke-fans, but it's the truth.

I think it's fairly correct really.
But such a short age bracket, and so many older fans?
I wreakon they just pray on us all being as naive as 7-year-olds, and it's not like a topic like this it bought up often.
I think many of us older fans are less naive, more acceptant.
We know most of the contenet is based for younger kids, but we just try to make the bast out of a bad storyline(Not saying that the storylines are bad, just not thought out propperly).

wolfie stop wrecking our fun :(
Here's a question: Rotom? Is he legendry? Some will say no cuz he can breed, but so can manaphy. He is one of a kind, there is no mention of its origins, so what is he?

Rotom is not a legendary because you can get more than one (breeding). Manaphy can breed, but you won't get another one.

wolfie, I think that's half true, sadly. While it's fun to discuss how all this fits, we can't deny there are some things just made out of the blue.

Not alot of people posting here refer to the anime much.
    Bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net said:
Three Lugia have appeared in the anime: a large Lugia from the second movie near Shamouti Island in the Orange Islands, and a parent Lugia and its child Lugia (nicknamed Silver by Oliver) near Silver Rock Isle in the Whirl Islands. In both cases a human has attempted to capture them: Lawrence III attempted to capture the large Lugia for himself, inadvertently threatening the world's balance in the process, and Dr. Namba attempted to capture both the parent Lugia and Silver for Giovanni. Both were foiled by Ash and his friends. Lugia is so far the only legendary Pokémon to appear in three consecutive regular Pokémon episodes.
    Hope this helps.

EDIT: Notice the use of words such as "thier", and "them".

No zungie! come back to gameland! stay away from the anime! its bad! inconsistencies!

As you can see i go strictly by game information, as there often clashes between the shows and the games. And seeing as the games came first, they are usually right :)

Now answer my question people: what/why is deoxys???
