The Old Sea Map for Mew in Emerald was never distributed in America. It's very possible that they simply won't distribute Darkrai that way.

And hey, you can always trade for those Pokemon.

They never used Faraway Island in English versions of the game. And because many Japanese people used the E4 Glitch to obtain Darkrai and Shaymin, they would lose money for an event they already have. And if the Japanese doesn't have the event, it is likely no other languages could have the event.

But I could be wrong. Maybe they plan on releasing it once Platnum's out.

I don't think we're going to be seeing the event items distributed any time soon, since
    a) The Japanese glitch leaked those Pokémon far before any Nintendo plans to release the events. There's a chance Nintendo abandoned those plans for straight Mystery Gifting.
    b) By controlling use of Cherish Ball and Classic Ribbon, they can avoid the GTS cloning glitch. Unfortunately for them, this does not stop AR cloning. For AR use, they ban any game that has been hacked from official tournament play.
    3) If we haven't seen them yet, we probably won't.

What about Platinum? wouldn't they fix any glitches that were in pear or diamond?

Of course. But obviously, people will still have Diamond and Pearl, so it doesn't make much of a difference.

Someone can always just trade you a Legend for free. For example, I have a bunch of cloned Darkrai from the recent event.

Yeah, they would. Would that change those glitches that are still in Pearl or Diamond?
They even fixed it for the English game. Those Japanese glitches still exist.
    EDIT: Sniped :P

    Its called Toxic Spikes.

1 Layer will hurt your opponent.
    2 Layers will poison them.
    No, actually its...

1 Layer will poison your opponent.
2 Layers will badly poison your opponent.

Steel types, Flying types, Poison Types, and Pokemon with Levitate cannot be poisoned through Toxic Spikes. Toxic Spikes can be Rapid Spinned away.

You can get it through certain Pokemon leveling up or breeding, such as Skarmory, Roserade, Tentacruel, and Forretress.

I'm not sure if anyone knows, but

Why didn't Nintendo put a random WiFi battle finder for the DS?

This is a children's game. With voice chat, it becomes more about internet safety for them. When you pair up with people you only know in real life, you can't be seduced by a pedophile. Unless you know a pedophile in real life, in which case you're on your own. That's why Nintendo didn't let people post friend codes on the Nsider forums when they existed.
Besides, Friend Codes are Nintendo's thing.

Oh please. Nintendo may be more paranoid about the internet and children than a PTA meeting, but don't pretend like they couldn't have easily masked that. After all, they had random WiFi on PBR. And voice chat? Who the hell actually turns voice chat on?

The real reason is that either Nintendo was too lazy to put it in, or that they simply didn't have enough time to. Sad, but hey, it may become available in Platinum. Along with a ranked leaderboard, where you can compete for the top spot... oh man do I want a ranked leaderboard...

To add to this, take a look at Pokemon Battle Revolution's random battle feature: it is completely filled with kids abusing untrained Ubers and ignoring what are normally considered basic rules for battling other people (both by Nintendo AND the metagame). If we had said feature for the DS games, it would most likely be the same.

What if there were ranked battles? Official battles to compete on a ranked leaderboard, where all of the matches could be forced to follow the standard clauses, including banning Ubers.

The only problem with that is that Nintendo would be the ones setting the rules: no Sleep Clause, Item clause on, Lati@s unbanned, only 3v3, etc. It would be terrible. :(

Speaking of PBR, actually, that's probably one of the reasons random WiFi wasn't put into DP. Who would bother buying PBR for random WiFi battles when you could already do that with DP?

Agreed. PBR also used Friend Codes too, though, and it didn't have voice chat. (Not to mention D/P has voice chat on when you start, so it's more about randomly pressing X than, as you say, "turn[ing] voice chat on")

...Honestly, judging by what I've seen from the leaderboards on YGO games, having something like that would also lead to hackers taking the top spots and keeping a hold of them *points at WonderTomb*. And how fun would that be?
