4th Gen HG/SS - Updated Gym Leaders/Elite 4/Red?

Status
Not open for further replies.
Actually, there is a guy blocking the Mahogany gym, so you can't battle Pryce yet. To get access to the gym, you have to go to the Lake of Rage and meet Lance and all that. But I see what you mean. Though, I wouldn't want Mahogany and the Lake of Rage blocked off completely, because what if you wanted to use Red Gyarados to battle Jasmine? They could keep the gym blocked by saying "Pryce is out training under a waterfall. He's not here; why don't you try to get the other badges first?" Even though I'm given the option of choosing between Olivine and Mahogany, I always choose Olivine first. XD

Spoiler:

Yeah, but that problem can be solved by increasing the Red Gyarados levels, then when you catch it is as if you've trained him before. I think that after Olvine and the 6th gym leader defeated, the Team Rocket would be more powefull.

The problem with G/S/C were those optional parts of the storyline. To make the two options at the same level, they made them at the same level, and the problem was when you had to go the other way, and your pokemon were way too overpowered. By doing a constant storyline, the levels wouldm increase and levels up to your progress.

    They'll keep them low for nostalgia's sake probably. Meh... wasn't Lance's strongest pokemon a 50? D:

Sadly, yes, Lance's Dragonite was level 50, which reminds me of the event for the TRU Dragonite that was held last year. Though, even if they raise the levels of the Pokémon for Gyms, Elites, etc. the game can still keep its nostalgic feel. I mean, it is more replaying the storyline of the game and remembering all the old days you shared once before that counts more to the nostalgic feel. Levels shouldn't really be considered too much a big part of it, only for a minor few, I would think.

I personally, would like to see it risen, for more of a challenge and maybe for a little extra afterwards. Also, I'd think everyone would enjoy it if they can reshare a battle with Red, but this time he's even tougher than before. It'll seem more realistic too as if he's trained more through the years since Gold and Silver, but that's just me.

Its about time that nintendo made the games more challenging. The jhoto gymleaders were totally lacking in the level department. They should increase the levels to match to those of the gym leaders in platinum. The elites should have levels matching to those in platinum.Kanto should be a region which has trainers of very advanced levels. The trainers in kanto should have very high leveled pokemons. The gym leaders there should have levels in 70-75 range.I think that Red's pokemon's levels should be between 90-95 and his pikachu should be at lv 100. Now that would be CHALLENGING! (I think that some people may disapprove of my opinion but I think that this would be really challenging and its just my opinion :D)

Ya Nintendo's really gonna have to kick it up a notch if they want to make this game fun for all generation of "trainers" (Kanto,Johto, etc.).

I would hope they increase the levels. I'm sure they'll at least increase the E4 levels, if not all of the gym leaders. I'm sure Red will also have some sort of boost as well.

Is this topic solely about the levels? Because I for one am hoping that all the character designs get a bit of a revamp like gold did. I remember the Johto gym leaders having some of the most forgettable outfits out of all of them..

Especially someone like Falkner should still keep his japanese influence on his outfit, but would be nice with a tiny bit of an update to bring it into the present...

The levels' in Johto were the one thing I disliked about the game,Red should defiantly have at least one of his team in the 90's,I would love it to be his Snorlax, just for a good challenge,I think three(or just about) of my team were lvl 90 at that time.Even so I'll still enjoy the game.

I'm sure all the characters will have some sort of revamp, but I doubt they'll be anything as critical as the main character revamps.

For the record... it kinda is on the levels of them solely, rather than the looks of them as well. =/ I'd suggest raising this in the Speculations thread if you want to, though.

yeah I do think the in the original G/S/C games were low but that will most likely change HG/SS. As far as Kanto goes I think making it a Battle Frontier would be cool with Frontier Brains but in the same format of the show.

I'm the kind of player who barrels through the plot with next to no training beyond whatever battles I get into going from Point A to Point B, so the levels in G/S/C never bothered me much. :P Still, it'd be nice if they made the levels in HG/SS more closely match the ones in other games, so I'm all for raising the levels. I'll just have to put up with trudging around in the grass leveling up my Pokémon, heh.

Pretty much the same as me!^^I think that it didn't matter that they had low levels, because that means that the amount of experience you get is affected and they all go along together.

Satoshi? Oh for god's sake his name is Ash! ASH! If you don't like the English name well then too bad for you.

Anyway as I have stated before I want the move sets and AI of event battles to be raised, and not just the levels.

I think he meant Satoshi Tijiri (the creator of Pokemon.)

They should make the elite four level 60s or at least mid level 50s.

Red can have Pokemon in the level 90s or 100s.

If the Kanto gyms levels were raised, I'd like to be able to encounter some strong wild Pokemon as well.

I hope some of them get a wardrobe update like someone else has mentioned. I doubt Jasmine would seeing as her overworld sprite was in Diamond, Pearl and Platinum. She was still wearing the same white dress. However, that doesn't mean that some can't get a new look. *coughWhitneycough*

i dont know why yall keep over rating pearl (barry to me lol)
i beat his lv 80s team wit only a lv 44typhlosion knowing flamethrower, earthquake, shadowclaw, and flame wheel
granted my typhlosion was lv 50 at the end of it but still dats sad when a lv40 can beat 80s and still be in the yellow wit out healing.
Red is Ash so they should just go ahead and call him Ash
they better up the levels in the gyms but keep kanto the same for the most part (kanto has always been a joke, but still even they need a lil attention).
they should completely change the elite four cuz they were PATHETIC back in g/s/c
Lance was boring,i used my purple(shiny) kingler wit ice punch (never really understood that) and pooned his butt!
lv 15 pigeot would be AWESOME!!!!! i would so use the cheat code to catch dat lol
pigeotto was catchable at lv9 in yellow so it is possible.
hmm maybe they will just have all johto pokemon and theyre evolutions from kanto, hoenn, and sinnoh in the pokedex instead of the reversed pokedex lol
i wonder if youll get the GS ball in these remakes? you kno at least in america since we never got it the first go.
that would be awesome, finally not using action replay (a.k.a. gameshark) to get it and celebii.
maybe whitney will hav tauros AND miltank this time.... who knows wat theyll do but i do hope they lv them up a teensie bit so i dont have to lv grind, but i do hav to walk thru grass to find pokemon,i also hope they do the pokedex thing like in d/p/pt
so i dont have to catch every pokemon to get credit for my hard work ya kno?
wow ive typed alot for once lol ^_^

Levels, should definitely be risen. Also, using Tyhphlosion, he makes the game a bit easy by itself, which is one reason in these remakes I'm taking the challenge and keeping mines at its mid stage evolution. However, for the Gyms, Elites, and Red I wouldn't want their team altered. All that needs improving is a basic raise in the Al, and altercation for their moveset to match that of the newer ones introduced since GSC and higher levels. This alone is simple and satisfying. It will also [as I've said before] keep the solid fans content with the nostalgic feel of things and compaints won't be as heavily risen.

Though, if teams were to be changed, I would want it to be after the Post-National Dex is obtained so we are allowed to the the later generations around. This way the Elites and rematches with the gyms can be hightened once more in level and their team rosters can be changed with some of the Pokémon afterwards. I think all this is possible as well, as I look back at what has occurred in Emerald, FireRed, LeafGreen, and recently Platinum. So, we'll see how things turn out. Oh yes, it has been shown that the PokéDex will follow the original way it had been in GSC, so the newer Pokémon will not appear until after the Elite most likely. As for the concept of basically seeing the Pokémon over catching, information on this has not been told as yet.

Actually, his name is Red. That was his given name in G/S/C when you battle him; that's one of the given default names in the games for that character; and that is his name in the Special manga, which is based on the game.

People can use the English names or the Japanese names or the German names or whatever language they feel more comfortable with, or whatever names they actually prefer. There's no need for that attitude just because someone calls a character by the Japanese name instead of the English name. It's simply a matter of preference, and what the person is used to.

Aero.'s post reminded me of one good change they can make to the Gym Leaders/Elite/Red/trainers in HG/SS: the AI. Make it as annoying and good as the one in D/P/Pt, and I'll be happy.

I wouldn't like to see roster changes with them, though. Not only would it change the nostalgic feel, it is also unnecessary. These are the Johto Gym Leaders/Elite, and their teams (at least the first time through the game) should reflect that.

Man I'm looking forward to beating Red into the ground one more time. I really hope that make his pokemon's levels higher, the AI smarter, and overall just make Red really challenging, the final battle.

Same here :D. (I would like to see how they do red's sprite though). In my last post I just focused on levels. I think that all the important trainers should have very good AI level. Red should have the AI at max. They can also make Red's pokemon have max IVs like those of Cynthia. I want Lance to come to the level that all the other champs are. Every pokemon that an important trainer holds should have an effective moveset so that it may give us problems to beat them. So basically I want increased levels,AI, better moveset,(good looks too) and most above all A CHALLENGING GAMEPLAY THAT WILL KEEP US AT THE EDGE OF OUR CHAIRS(OR SOFAS whatever)!!!
