4th Gen Quality of Platinum sprites...

Oh, I liked them in general. Most seemed to be improved pose-wise, but they seemed to have a little less detail and shading, sadface. I do have a complaint, though.

WTF DID THEY DO TO IT? It looks severely overweight. ;____;

the pokemon platnum sprites look bad
hope fully they will have better looking sprites in heart gold and soul silver

My opinion is that D/P/PT all look far too cartoonish. The sprites should be better, yes, and the are, but they are too much like a cartoon. Especially the 4th generation Pokemon. Back in the days of R/B/Y the sprites just looked so awesome. I mean, they weren't nearly as good as today, but the Pokemon don't look nearly as fierce. The games are still amazing, but I definitely prefer the older sprites.

For Platinum specifically, it appears that some were rushed, or that they were trying too hard to improve on what was already there.

Some sprites look better, while others look MUCH worse ): I'd say the worst is Rampardos and Lucario - Couldn't they just leave them as they were?

Yeah, I was looking at sprites for platinum (gotta occupy time while I wait for it to come) and I saw rampardos in D/P. That's what it looks like. That sprite captures the very essence of rampardos while the platinum one just makes it look like... a dinosaur @_@. Rampardos is a rampant raging dinosaur, not just "a dinosaur"

But I noticed that a lot of the platinum sprite changes were improvements on the D/P ones (which I had thought were really good to begin with, and really captured who the pokemon were)

I also wish that the Vaporeon sprite had been left alone... I remember it from youtube battles and I had always wanted one like that... The new one is kind of reserved

I was never fond of any fourth generation sprite.
I mean, they're okay, as far as the game goes.
Eevee's Platinum sprite is much more eevee-like than the DP one.​

The first time I looked at Skuntank's sprite, it scared me a bit. The foot looked as if it were another head to me; awkward look at it. Then when I looked at it closely, it was the foot. In my conjecture, it looks like if Skuntank only has three legs in the Platinum sprite. I don't really like Skuntank's sprite, and I prefer the old sprite of it.

I never really had a problem with Misdreavus's new sprite in Diamond and Pearl. When I saw the Platinum sprite for it, I just didn't like it at all.

Comparing the two sprites, the left side one is the Platinum sprite and the one on the right side is the Diamond and Pearl sprite. Misdreavus's Platinum sprite looks a lot more duller and the head of it looks squished. Misdreavus's Diamond and Pearl sprite looks a lot more brighter, and it doesn't look too squished at all.

Ewww yeah that misdreavus looks raw. So did platinum update all sinnoh sprites and random sprites from other generations? Because for example they didn't change Aerodactyl's sprite (thank the lord, that looks so hot) but they changed vaporeon's.

They changed every sprite in the Sinnoh dex, and also a few in the national dex for some reason. I can only remember Muk and Primeape, but I think there's others.

They also darkened Porygon2 and Togepi's backsprite, I've noticed.

All and all, some sprites have improved, but others have severely worsened.

I really didn't notice until I was doing some trading between my diamond and platinum versions... And I don't think they're all that bad, I actually like Flareon's and Vaporeon's Platinum sprites better than their d/p sprites.

Hmm ok... I guess they just wanted to further distinguish Platinum. Honestly though, when I look through serebii's dex it seems like the DP sprites focus more on the stance and mood, whereas platinum is more static like the 3rd gen sprites.

Most of the sprites of Pearl and diamond are better than platinum...
For example glaceon or darkrai!

I do happen to like Platinum's sprite of Golbat, but not that much. Diamond and Pearl's sprite of Golbat was a lot more better in my conjecture. Perhaps if the wings were upward it would have looked better. The pose of how Golbat is [excluding the wings], is alright but the feet seem like if Golbat is running.

Comparing the two, I am actually glad they shrinked the mouth a little in Platinum. Golbat in Diamond and Pearl had a huge mouth [my opinion] when I look at its sprite. Though I still prefer Diamond and Pearl's Golbat sprite rather than Platinum's Golbat sprite.
