Hi.
M and my friends are having a few Double battles with each other using different strategies, trying to beat each other. The Team Im using Now Is a "sunny day team" (Uses the advantage of Sunny day to win, kind of sucks but I am just trying it out).
Now, My Groudon and A Cherrim are the first Pokemon Im sending out, Groudon because of Its Drought and Cherrim cause Its awesome in Sunny Day. Now If Im correct, Cherrim raises BOTH PLAYERS Attack And Special DefenceAttack by 50% (1.5).
What I am asking is should I even PUT solarbeam on my groudon. I Mean sure, Its 120 attack, 100% accuracy and can attack immediately, but its special. And Since Groudons Non-Special (physical) attack is 1.5 its special attack, plus Cherrims added bonus, wouldnt it be better to put an 80 Physical move on groudon, which would power up to 160 theoretically?? (Groudon has much higher Attack score, don't bother with ANY special attacks not named Overheat - even then, a pseudo-STABed Fire Punch is there, so don't bother. Why not use Solarbeam for Cherrim instead? Cherrim gets a STAB from Solarbeam.)
Im Thinking of for my 4 moves:
Earthquake (100): 100 + stab (1.5) x Cherrim (1.5) x Attack Stat over special (1.5)=250! (Attack and BP are a completely different thing. STAB makes Earthquake's power to 150, where as Flower Gift multiplies Groudon's Attack Stat by 1.5.)
Fire punch (75): 75 x Cherrim (1.5) x Attack stat over special stat (1.5) x Sunny Day Fire effect (1.5)=172.5! (Better than flamethrower which just gets sunny day ability and gets 142.5) (It's both Attack / Special Attack that gets boosted)
Possibly Eruption (Wont get Cherrim or Attack stat over special stat but at the start of the battle it does 225 cause of sunny day, But i already have a fire move), thunder punch, Iron Head, Return, Dragon Claw, Iron tail, (Every single moves excluding Dragon Claw sucks here in coverage. Earthquake, Stone Edge, Fire Punch, Dragon Claw are the main attacking moves for Groudon.)
Any Suggestions??
Also, Here is my team for it, Any changes??
Groudon
Cherrim
Ho-oh [Highly suceptible to Stealth Rock, otherwise a great Pokemon]
Heatran [Highly suceptible to Earthquake, otherwise a great Pokemon]
Flareon (They both can learn lava plume and both have flash fire, an AWESOME combination) [Not really, "Flareon's Special Attack is nothing to write home about" -Smogon. It DOES have 95 Special Attack which is respectable and a magnificent 130 Attack, but it's a missed opportunity of not having great STAB nor speed and defense to survive hard hits. You already got Heatran who abuses the ability and attacks much better, much sturdier and just slightly faster. It's got more Attack than Arcanine, but otherwise Arcanine pretty much outclasses it in the other stats and movepool.]
Arcanine [Isn't so missed as Flareon, because it has a suicidal yet effective toy named Flare Blitz, which truly is a blessing for it. It also has better speed and the strongest priority move Extremespeed, which can be crucial in deciding which are better. Its special attacks are more wide-ranged, albeit weaker, Dragon Pulse and Flamethrower covering many types. Since neither of Arcanine's attack spectrums are "magnificent", entry hazards will help it KO-ing some more things as well.]
I can seriously bet that your team will NOT last long if the opponent has Stealth Rock. So you really need a Rapid Spinner + change some of the Pokemons. Just because you have an infinite Sunny Day, doesn't mean everyone needs them. I'm not really the one to judge this team by the types, but this team doesn't synchronise together much except Groudon and Cherrim. Try getting a Stealth Rocker as well, because not having one's not really smart in today's metagames. If you want to use Ho-Oh badly, get a Rapid spinner at least, as your top priority. Also, try to cover as many different types as possible. If Groudon's down, a Gyarados will actually have a high chance of doing the ever-so-famous "6-0".)
