I liked Kris. As evident by many of my previous posts, I really would have liked to see her back in a cameo. But I don't have anything against Kotone either. I have begun to like her character now. Even her music sounds cute to me.

You know, I wonder what would we be doing now if Kotone was in the original G/S/C and Kris replaced her in HG/SS.

Apart from showing that you really like Kris and that a few others like her more than Kotone and the rest of the poll options, this really doesn't mean anything.


Excluding the obvious improved sprites, everything about Kotone is certainly more eye appealing to me.
Her natural hair colour as opposed to that horrid blue Kris has(as Marina in the Anime and Crystal Game Art).
The hat is actually not putting me off, lots of girls I know wear big hats.
She's better looking than Kris(cuter imo).

I never really liked Kris at all actually. Kotone is the best designed girl I've seen in Pokemon so far.

Misty's top was short. May's clothes were too tight looking. Dawn's skirt is way too short.
I mean, would you seriously let your 10 year old daughter out into the big wide world with that little clothes on them?
I know it's a children's sorta thing but come on...


Anyways, back on topic. In order of preference for me:

Kotone(Soul, if you want to call her that...)
May(+ Manga appearance: Sapphire)
Dawn(+ Manga appearance: Platinum Berlitz)
Blue(Green...whichever you prefer to call her; and Leaf(Game) )
Misty
Kris(And Manga Appearance: Crystal)

I'm going strictly by both game art and anime appearance here...
And manga, if it applies to that character...
That's all from me. 'Nuff said.

I'll just add that even though I like Kotone more than Kris, this seems like a pointless question.
It's just a game/anime/manga and threads like these are more likely to cause arguements between opposite fans of both characters more than anything else.
But that said. Both are most likely great trainers. It's all a matter of preference, really.

But I don't like it being so annoyingly bright.

Besides some major design overhauls, Kris and Kotone are pretty much quite alike... Almost.

And to Makku's Jailbait Loli comment:
All of them are.
Leaf(Aka Blue/Green in Pokespecial) was using Pokeballs to make her breasts look bigger.
May's boobs shouldn't be that size for a ten year old and her clothes look almost too tight.
Dawn's skirt is way too short.
Only thing keeping Misty's top on was the sleeves and the straps over her shoulders.

They've all got some form of jailbait thing going on.
And you only see it that way if you have a dirty mind.
And they'll all probably be designed this way, just be glad they don't have huge breasts like most other anime girls.
I've see way worse examples of jailbait loli, Pokemon is in the minor leagues considering that.

Also, I'd like to reiterate something that a lot of people forget.
Whilst the G/S remakes feature some Crystal elements and storyline, it does not have Kris because it is not meant to be a Crystal remake(nor will they make one).
For purposes of including a girl into the G/S timeline(considering Kris doesn't exist in this specific timeline), they made Kotone.
Crystal is a seperate entity to G/S.
They took the best bits out of Crystal's story and stuck them into HG/SS.
Crystal's story, not some random girl you can choose to play as.

And besides, Makku stated that Kotone bumps into you every five minutes in the start of HG/SS. That's also true if you were playing as her, for Gold.

Comparing an older generation sprite to a newer one does not get your point across too well.
Since it's not fair to call kris a graphical disaster because her sprite is outdated and ugly.

Simple way to end this is just to say that both have their differences, strengths and weaknesses when thrown out at fans.

And yes, Timbjerr, I agree that they are made like this to attract hormonal teenage boys, as are the boys designed to appeal to the girls.
This is obvious because Pokemon has a minimum age rating of like, 7, but that means, that it still has stuff appealing to older generations of fans like us, such as girl/boy designs.

The games have stuff in them too strategically complicated for a seven year old to simply pass without throwing their handheld system against a wall.

The age rating is just there as a warning to parents that it may contain stuff unsuitable for younger children, such as cartoon-like violence or darker tones in the story such as Cyrus wanting to destroy our world to make way for his own.

Again, the girl designs do seem to appeal to teenage boys.
I know they appeal to me, anyway.

Okay dude we understood your answer but you could have used some other words instead of those, couldn't you? We know that you prefer Kotone but there may be others who would find your post really something bad.

As I have said that I like them both, I really don't prefer anyone and have not voted for anyone. But instead of 'Pokemon trainer Kotone would like to battle' I could also have written: Mario Hat trainer Kotone would like to battle. But I didn't, coz I know that MANY people prefer her and really like her.(I don't have anything against her hat. I actually like it the as I don't think that the in-game sprite and the OWs of Kotone get effected in any bad way due to it.)

Both are good characters in the end.
Why people have to who is "better" is quite silly.
There is always going to be some difference in opinion when it comes to this but in the end, it's not really gonna serve any purpose but to show how a fanbase is divided.

On topic, i love Kotone- pretty much everything about her. I like Kris, too, but i wish that she didn't vary so much- i like her non-blue (unfortunately non-game) attire, with her realistic Black hair. Game Kris just looks a bit too.. Bland. I dunno.

I have nothing against Kris, but one things sorta bugging me here.

Kris never talked.

Kotone (Soul) is there to help you throughout the game, and has a nice, happy personality with a good design to boot.

Kris is also awesome, and by Anime standards has the same happy cheerful personality. However, as far as the games concerned, she's never talked, and never spoke a word.

Which means one thing: Kotone has more character depth, game-wise. And most people like a little character depth. Therefore, Kotone has a slight edge. Howver, it all comes down to personal preference.

Kotone is her japanese name
i heard her name is going to be melody or harmony in english.

All english names such as Melody or Harmony or Soul are all speculation until confirmed by playing the english version or from official sources.
Besides, Soul was used in a japanese trailer reffering to Gold, just as Leaf was used to refer to Red in a trailer back when FR/LG was released.
We won't know until we get official sources to confirm it.
