You did the right thing. Anyone who doesn't know what they're doing with linux should never use it at all, because they'll have no need for it.

There's some truth in that - if you don't know anything about Linux, then you're not ready to use it. Although some people, such as myself have looked into it and now love it.
I'm running Linux Ubuntu 8.10. It works great, and I don't have to worry about viruses.
You... do realise that's a year old, right? 9.10 is out.

Still using the upgraded Windows Vista. Still works as if new. Although they say they're some faults in it.

    Might get W7 next year.

I'm still using my myraid of OSes (Leo, Snowy, XP, 7 RC, Linux, Solaris). I might upgrade my Linux to 9.10. I also want to wipe my XP partition with a 7 install; problem is, it's way too expensive and the install faults are too plentiful.

About bootloaders... Chameleon FTW. I love it's GUI; I just need to get my netbook to stop giving me a "plist file was incorrectly parsed" or whatever and boot into OS X automatically.

So I just installed Debian with LXDE on a partition on my old 2000 Aptiva computer alongside my nLited XP. Runs like a charm. :D

If GNOME isn't something you're fond of, you could always try KDE (For example, Kubuntu uses KDE). It's more windows like.

Also, Windows 95-95 users are teh pwnage. I still have a compy with it, but I rarely use it :p

After playing around with Windows 7, I do like it a lot.
It seems a lot more stable than Vista, though, a tower of cards is more stable Vista! XD

    Errr, Windows!
I can't stand Mac, it's too hard for beginners.. Windows is very simple, but Vista is such a slow idiot sometimes! <_<
I hear Windows 7 is even better.. i've heard of Linux but it's not much around. So, I like Windows.

At least you don't have Windows ME. I had to live with that for 5 years... ugh, what an atrocious OS...

I just deleted Fedora (because I couldn't configure wireless AT ALL AUGH) and I installed openSUSE 11 instead. Me lieks, although I almost screwed up Ubuntu yet again.

    It helps to have
    Code:
    root (hd0,4)
in the bootloader. Jesus Christ I can't believe I was fretting over that.

Are you kidding? Windows ME was the best thing ever, I loved playing the Sims on it whenever I visited my nan and my cousin was there... Such good times.

    Also, lol amateur OS hour

Well sweeties, I use Commodore BASIC V2.0. I win.

Serriously, I use Windows 7, but I've been easing into Linux for some time now.
Right now I'm using Fedora with both GNOME and KDE. I'm loving my Linux computer, sweeties. x3
So yeah, the answer is Linux.

A true man would use Plan9.

Also, you should try out LXDE and Xfce, they're both way better than GNOBLOAT and KDBLOAT.
