  • Well I KNOW stall is hard to pull in NU, I'll try anyway since after trying out a noob stall team I've made (Pert, sp.def forry, rotom-h, blissey, crocune and scarftar) I seem to pretty much like stall.

I'll go with Misdreavus for my spinblocker. I'll might try Drifblim lOater though.
I still wonder who can setup Toxic Spikes, and I need a shuffler. I was thinking about SubRoost Articuno with Roar > Toxic. I'll use Qwil for spikes, Roselia for toxic spikes? I have slash for spinning. I'll might go with SS stall with Cradily > Articuno but I really dunno. Any suggestions?

Use Dusclops as a spinblocker, works much better imo. Qwil can be used for Spikes, sure, but if you want to Roselia can dual spike, otherwise you can run Nidoqueen for T-Spikes and Stealth rock. Slash for spin like you suggested.

    So so far:

Nidoqueen (works well as a lead)
    Slash
    Qwil/ Roselia
    Dusclops

Ok there is somewhat of a Manectric weakness, and also Magmortar and Typhlosion destroy you. Flareon can help out somewhat with the Tar/Typhlosion weakness with Flash Fire, also can provide wish support which is nice. Grumpig also works thanks to Thick Fat, but lacks reliable recovery iirc, but can sponge hits from Manetric bar Crunch, which Nidoqueen can take pretty well if its physically defensive. Muk also works as a special wall in NU against Manectric, and also blocks Switcheroo and Trick with Sticky Hold.

tl;dr, go with Flareon and Muk or Grumpig and Flareon imo in the last two slots.

  • I had my experience with Clops, it's extremely bulky but it's so slow and it's setup bait for whatever thing that has sub + statup. Almost autolose actually.
Also if I run dual spikes with rose then I don't need nidoqueen because slash can set up SR.

  • If you have Hippowdon, Flygon would be a good idea. Decent Stats, good typing. Here's an idea.

    Flygon @life orb

    Rash 80atk/252 SpA/ 176 Spe

    ~Flamethrower
    ~Draco Meteor
    ~Earthquake
    ~U-Turn

Good coverage, power, and an easy way to escape if something scary switches in.

  • I'm an EV training noob pretty much, and I EV trained a Porygon2 recently. I'm leveling it to 100 right now, and at currently at level 97 it's stats (namely HP and Sp. Attack, which I trained it in) are both roughly 30 points under max +...yeah.

Are will the stats increase once it hits 100, or did I blow it somehow? :\

  • So like every trainer i think that smogon sets are evil and i don't use them when possible
this is my froslass tell me if the move set works plox
    jolly
    252 sp 252 att
    -swagger
    -psych up
    -ice punch
    -substitute
ok you can guess what im going to do swagger then set up a sub and then psych up to get the stat boost on froslass
i know its risky but will it work if i get the swagger on the switch?

  • I guess it works on paper, but you have a 50/50 chance of confuse and most likely they will switch out. Ice is also really bad offensively by itself and it will be walled by a lot of mons.

ehh i guess i just thought it sounded cool, yah know?
but if they switch i on the swagger i get a free sub, then ill swag on the next poke... yeah but ice kinda does suck oh well at least frosslass is immune to fighting, a common counter for ice types, the reason i asked this is i used on a altaria, worked like a charm, then i got a late game sweep (both were weak to ice though =/)
i just thought it was a cool moveset

i totally agree its not practical though, thanks for the reply! =)

Before you get it to level 100, do something similar to an IV battle to get its stats at level 100. Get its IVs and use a stat calc to see if you're on the right track, but if you doubt yourself you might be better off wiping away the EVs and starting over.

    Quiet Nature, Lv. 100 Porygon2, 252 HP - 252 Sp. Attack - 4 D

    HP:
    353
    A: 172
    D: 217
    Sp. A: 311
    Sp. D: 211
    S: 136

Are these stats good or should HP and special attack be max because that's what I EV'd it in?

  • I have a question about my Mew...

So I am relatively new to the whole ev training, and I was just wondering if I went about it the right way...so is my Mew strong?

    ~Mew~

    Lv. 100
    Nature: Timid
    Hp: 325
    Atk: 197
    Def: 228
    Sp. Atk: 292
    Sp. Def: 227
    Spd: 322

    Moves:
    Nasty Plot
    Baton Pass
    Shadow Ball
    Aura Sphere

If I didn't do it right, it's cool...this is the first pokemon that I have ever ev trained, so I'm sure I will catch on... If you have an suggestions, please let me know...I really want to build a strong team and I know the evs and move sets are important.

    Thanks,

  • Mew stats are even all around so you can basically do anything you want with it, not only that it can learn every TM and HM move so that just furthers the possibilities.

    so is my Mew strong?

That depend on what the result your were looking for was. Were you looking to make it a wall, a sweeper? The move set is not so great as there are no psychic moves, so it can't make use of STAB.

  • I wasn't sure at first what I wanted to do with him, because in my opinion he isn't powerful enough to be a sweeper, so I decided to just give him Nasty Plot and Baton Pass so I can boost his special attack then baton pass to my my Mewtwo I am training, who can pretty much sweep an entire team with Aura Sphere, Ice Beam, Thunder, and Fire Blast...since he is holding Life Orb. I'm not positive if that is a great strategy yet though, It still feels like Mew needs some tweaking...The only thing I was 100% about is that I wanted him to have a high speed.

    What do you think?

  • Okay, for my Porygon2, instead of giving it a 252/252/4 spread, I somehow gave it a 168/150/4 spread (figured it out with Psypoke tool). How I made this error, I don't know. For HP I gave it 100 HP-Ups (10 x 10 = 100 EP), and with PKRS and holding a Power Weight, I killed 15 Wooper (1 + 4 = 5 x 2 = 10 x 15 = 150 EP - and by killed 15 Wooper, I mean switched Porygon2 out and had something of high level OKHO Wooper). For the final two EP, I simply took the Power Weight off and killed one Wooper (1 x 2 = 2). 100 + 150 + 2 = 252?

If someone could PM me to help me sort this mess out, I'd really appreciate it because this is frustrating me to no end.

  • Are you sure your Pokerus didn't run out halfway or something? =| If it's that big of a problem, just keep training, this time by killing them directing with 'Z.

Anyway, my friend Darthwaffles came up with a Jirachi set:

    Jirachi @ Leftovers
    Bold Nature
    252 HP / 220 Def / 36 Spe
    - Water Pulse/Flash Cannon
    - Wish
    - Charge Beam
    - Cosmic Power

Basically, in his words, "Cosmic Power to make massive defense for massive tanking, Water Pulse to prevent them from attacking and Charge Beam to make your attack massive. Wish for recovery and with 252HP EVs, tanks everything!!!!!1111 but the EV spread could be better".

    Ideas, crit, etc?

You find somebody to battle over Wi-Fi, have the Pokémon whose IVs you want to check in your party (even if it's level 1), and set the battle to 100. When you start the battle you just check the stats of that Pokémon, write them down, and check them in an IV calculator.

  • I have a question about Blissey. I use this:

    Blissey @ Leftovers
    24 HP / 252 Def / 232 SpD
    Calm nature
    Natural Cure ability
    - Wish
    - Protect
    - Seismic Toss

I really dunno what do use on the 4th slot, I was thinking flamethrower, which is nice so Scizor / Lucario won't setup on me. I have T-spikes support, also with flamer I won't be walled by SubSplit Gar. I know "toxic for flyers" etc, but yeah I pretty much dunno with what to go.

I'm trying to think of way to use substitute in battle any suggestions?
Uhh Sub + Pain Split works well for Rotom-A and Gengar (never tried the latter but I heard it's good), Agility / Rock Polish + Sub + Petaya / Liechi Berry (Agility, then Sub down until the berry activates, works best for Empoleon), general attackers but with Sub to ease prediction and take status, etc.

So I am relatively new to the whole ev training, and I was just wondering if I went about it the right way...so is my Mew strong?

Could fit Rock Polish somewhere to support slow attackers, and it wouldn't restricted to just special sweepers.

Did you calculate its EVs at level 100?
