  • I was expecting someone to at least score/win by the time I woke up but apparently not. :P Such a long and gruelling game, took them 118 minutes for someone to finally score. XD;

But yay, Spain are the FIFA'S 2010 Champions. :3 Paul was right!

  • I knew the comments would fly in now, I wanted people to comment as the match was playing so people could not listen to all my opinions on the insane amount of incidents.

Well all the fouls dont matter now anyway.

    Congratulations Spain! (and went ¬_¬)

I said after Euro 2008 Iniesta best player on the planet, I dont think that now but guess who scored the crucial goal.

  • 8 matches in 8, a 1/256 chance, and Paul has done it.

I think Spain deserved the way they played this match, dominating possession, as well as the fairer player out of the two. Congratulations to Spain, and goodbye to a great World Cup 2010 (minus the vuvuzelas).

  • Ozil deserved the golden ball by miles in the end, Forlan was good but Ozil was definitely better.

Back to good old club football now, less vuvuzelas and hopefully less diving.

Well, turns out the octopus won't kill itself ._.
Robben should've done better with his chances. That's the only thing I think went wrong.
Now back to bed. It's almost 4 am o:

  • I'm pretty surprised that Spain made it to the final.

Netherlands played pretty dirty through the match, if I'm right, they were 8 yellow cards in the whole game. Arjen Robben had some pretty obvious chances of scoring, too bad he didn't. Overall, Spain played a lot better than Netherlands. Not satisfied with the result but congrats to Spain.

  • I came here to congrat Spain for their winning!

    NOT!
Portugal scored more goals on the group phase than Spain in all world cup. Netherlands had 8 players yellow carded and 1 red carded, Spain only five.. what's the nationality of the refere's comission president? And etc, etc, etc..
Also, the octopus always choose the flag with more red/hot colours, so of course he always guess right.

Now, less vuvuzelas, I really hope that become forbidden in Portugal, better football and.. CARREGA BENFICA!

  • Eeohnex, Netherlands got 9 yellow cards, everyone in the starting lineup of the Dutch got booked except for Kuyt, Stekelenburg and Sneijder. Heitinga got two yellows.

Spain win, they deserved it. I loved watching the Dutch players in the post-match handshake, they were pretty reluctant to shake hands. Forlan gets the Golden Ball, imo he deserved it (why couldn't he had played like this while he was in Manchester United?). Sneijder was second in Golden Ball, Ozil should've got the second place. Casillas too deserved the Golden Gloves.

Oh and bye vuvuzelas, you're banned in 2014, yay! But vuvzelas may hit the English Premier League, I hope not..

  • Well, watching the final match on a cinema, on 3D HD was definetly worth it. Specially since there were no ads, so we could watch the full ceremony. Casillas crying when Iniesta scored the goal was incredibly touching. He single-handledly ruined the best Dutch chances.

    Andrés Iniesta Ballon D'or. Please.

Portugal scored more goals on the group phase than Spain in all world cup.
But football is not a matter of scoring a million goals, but just one more than your rival. If you beat North Korea by 7-0 and then you lose to Spain 1-0, you have scored 7 goals and conceded 1 and you are out of the World Cup. That's how it works.

Netherlands had 8 players yellow carded and 1 red carded, Spain only five.. what's the nationality of the refere's comission president? And etc, etc, etc..

It's fun that you suggest that the referee helped us when this received just a yellow card. Holland should have been playing with 9 when the extra time started.

Btw, Villar was also the president of said comission in 2002, when the referee didn't concede us two perfectly legal goals that lead us to a penalty shootout defeat. Just saying.

  • Why must he be fired?

I watched the match and he got almost every decision right. If its because quite a few players got booked, they did deserve them. The only decision I can remember him getting wrong was the free kick towards the end of the game that should have been a corner due to a deflection, but a goal kick was given instead.

Congrats to Spain though, the best team won, not just on the night but over the course of the tournament and over the past few years. And of course to Went. ;D

    @Went: I'm loving your user-title.

    Jesus ****.

That referee from yesterday must be fired. Now.
I think he did a pretty good job of refereeing . But I really think that Puyol should've really been sent off. The 9 yellow cards for Netherlands was deserved.

  • ...wanted Dutch victory.

    Too tired to speak coherently.

    Dutch victory in four years.

    Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

((But yeah. I want Brazil to get to the finals, only to repeat 1950's fiasco.))

I like how you try to make it seem like the most incredible thing ever. This must have been the biggest thing since the Civil Rights act of 1964!

Seriously though, both teams could've done much better. I wouldn't mind nearly as much if Spain didn't waste my time by scoring in the last few minutes. I wouldn't mind if Robben actually made goals when he charged either, but you can't get everything I suppose.

    Jesus ****.

As much as I wanted Holland to win, De Jong definitely deserved a red card after kicking Alonso in the chest. He didn't do a terrible job, although being new to actually being interested in sports, I guess I wouldn't know.

It was a pretty physical game overall though.

  • Oh well. I'm still happy because in the thread I voted that Spain was going to win :P And it's their first time so I'm happy for them. Poor Holland though. They went 3 times in the finals and never won once. Oh well, maybe next time. Congratulations to Spain! My best friend was in Spain that night and they must've been partying like hell. Awesome.

  • Ok, that world cup went pretty much as I expected: stuff happened and in the end Spain dominated everyone. Still pretty entertaining overall, and I wonder if that kick by De Jong will achieve a similar meme status as Zidane's headbutt.

By the way, did Paul the Octopus even guess one game wrong? If yes, I must have missed it.
