But that's life. People will do it anyway.
For those kinds of people, alcohol is the sense of life. The only thing that is left.

Personally, I hate drinking on big parties or with many people. I would rather drink alone or with at least 1 person. That's why I am doing this very rarely. Despite many comments about it, alcohol can be helpful... Sometimes...

Sure, getting rid of it completely is pretty much impossible. But that doesn't mean it can't be limited as much as possible.

It would be extremely hard, believe me.

    Anyway.
Those behaviors have their own reasons. For ones those reasons can be stupid and senseless, for another acceptable and understanding. And thats why it is so interesting! Why ones think this way and another think in another way!

Eh, never mind me... Just wondering.

I already have my own preconceived opinions on the subject.

Yes. It would have made my 18th birthday a hell of a lot more exciting. I don't smoke. I don't give a **** who the next president is going to be. And I'm never getting laid and I'm going to be a virgin for the rest of my life asdffagasjkldggaehglkrgvaskhrgbsgr. 18 year-olds get all the boring rights.

    Edit: lol. Word filter.

Well yeah, of course it would be hard. The fact that everyone has different reasons is what makes it hard and interesting.

I'm somewhat positive on this sentence. It isn't really interesting, though.

But the sentence before. Are you really sure about this?

    Eh, I'm.. not so sure. A lot of 18-year-old's really aren't mature enough to handle the drinking age being that low, in my opinion. At the same time, if it were lowered, maybe that would take some of the thrill out of it, and kids would stop drinking to look cool. I occasionally have a drink or two, because I like the way some of them taste, but I didn't mind waiting until I was 21, and I don't see what the big deal is. xD;

Also Gardenia's post raises a good point too.

The legal age to drink alcohol over here is at 16, lol. And the legal driving age is at 18. And I can tell it doesn't work too good, as there are lots of accidents in our freeways.
I think it should be 18 everywhere... That's the age when you legally become an adult and gain all sorts of rights of an adult citizen. Some kids here start drinking way too early and, as most of them are not mature enough to know the limits, they lose control of the alcohol. Or they simply drink because they want to look cool, when they are actually showing they are total dumbasses.

I don't know why would anyone be interested in drinking alcohol anyways. It doesn't have a good taste and everyone knows it likes to attack livers.

I won't refer maturity because it doesn't depend on the age.

you see thats my problem. the goverment thinks that people under 21 are immature and cant handle the alchohol maturely. but whats to say that people who are 21 can hand it maturely too?
They can't. People are just as immature at 21, but if you show up drunk to class at college, you run the risk of getting thrown out, and that costs YOU money. When you're 18, you may still be in high school and if you show up drunk, the worst that happens is that you spend another year sapping taxpayer dollars attending a different public school.

Nobody is saying they ARE..... But people usually mature with age, and so chances are 21yo's are going to be more mature than 18yo's. And the whole point wasn't maturity, it was brain development. I don't know why it has to be repeated so many times for people to get it..... Obviously people aren't even mature enough to have enough patience to let their brain develop fully before drinking, so the drinking age has to be legally set to 21. >_<

If you want the drinking age to be 18 so bad...

    Move to Mexico.

You'll have crappy jobs, college, and crappier life, but hey, at least you can risk your life 2 years earlier!

Or to Canada. It's better than Mexico. :3 (Only half the countries have it as 18. The other half say 19.)

Believe me, the fact that you can drink in the UK at 18 makes no difference. Kids still start drinking incredibly young. The difference is that instead of drinking in a pub or bar they do it on the street.

    I detest alcohol.

I think that's a little melodramatic. Plenty of people, myself included, have benefitted from the laws allowing you to drink under the legal age (18) when you're at home with parents and whatever.

Technically, 18 is the legal age buy alcohol. It is legal to drink at the age 5. As long as your parents buy you the drink and you are on your own premises (I think that due to a loop hole it can be beer gardens aswell) you can drink alcohol.
Also 16-17 year olds can drink beer, wine or cider when having a meal out with the family, as long as they don't buy it themselves.

    Alright.

Over here in Ireland the legal age to purchase alcohol is eighteen. As some of you may or may not know, this is great for girls because their brains (on average) are fully developed by that age. Boys, on the other hand, don't develop a full sense of awareness until they're twenty-five, hence we always hear about young male drivers speeding and killing themselves. Normally when they're drunk, but also while occasionally when they're sober.

Thing is that if you brought the alcohol limit up to twenty-five, it wouldn't change anything. I've seen my friends at the ages of thirteen or fourteen come into school with a hangover after having a session with their mates. I've gotten into drinking a couple of months ago - it comes down to how you manage yourself; the legal drinking age is really only a guideline. If you can't handle alcohol; don't drink it no matter what age you are.

True, most people drink illegally before 21... Not to say that that makes it alright, but... meh. Anyone who drinks and has a problem with it isn't mature enough, whether they're under 21 or not. I mean I would say "yeah, they should lower it..." but then that means more and moreee teens would be out at bars, getting drunk, and that means more drunk drivers would be on the damn road. It wouldn't be a problem if some people weren't so damn stupid...

    Yeah, I know that :)

I just think that the biggest issue about alcohol isn't to do with age limit, it's all about the attitude of kids. Which probably will not change in the near future!
