^ show me some proof. That is highly doubtful.
    https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Pokémon_Red_and_Green_beta#Female_player_character

    Bulbapedia said:
There were originally plans for a female character to be playable in Red and Green, as older sketches suggest. Green from Pokémon Adventures seems to be based on her. The character was redesigned and included in the remakes of the game, to continue the standard of including a female protagonist option.

    Strange Pokémon Facts!

    That enough proof for you?

An interesting fact that arose during this year's Get-Together quiz - the move Selfdestruct is known as "じばく" or "Suicide Bombing" in Japanese. Read into that what you will. ;)

    Strange Pokémon Facts!

Tornelos is the only pure-flying type Pokémon that does not need an item or ability to change it's type such as Kecleon being hit by a flying-type attack and then changing it's type or an Arceus attached with a Sky Plate.

    Bulbapedia ftw!

ninetails has something to do with an old japan myth about a "fox devil" with nine tails that used to transform into humans to commit murder or whatever.....i hope its accurate im in a rush....

Ninetails is a reference to the legendary Kyuubi No Kitsune, the Nine Tailed Fox Demon =]
It is said that the colour of the Kitsune's fur changes to a goldish colour when the ninth tail appears, like with Ninetails; unlike Vulpix, who was a reddish colour xD

In the first Mystery Dungeon games, Attract can infatuate even genderless Pokemon. You could also infatuate a Pokemon of the same gender... o_o'

The best strange fact that I can think of is that many of the first generation Pokemon originally had different names than what they were eventually known as. Most of these names were used in promoting the new games and anime back in the 90s. Here's the whole list (nearly 50):

    Spoiler:

Personally, I find that some are better than others, but there are others on the list that I could not imagine ANY Pokemon being named.

Another fact that I remember hearing was that "Mew" was trademarked many years before "Pokemon" was even trademarked.

not strictly pokemon related by some, but Super Smash Bros Melee used to have a ditto come out of a pokeball. This Ditto would copy the summoner and attack anyone in the vicinity, but it was taken out because it crashed the console.

Because SSBM could not even fathom holding Ditto's epicness of wild-cardness in a mere PokeBall. :rambo: Hopefully, he manages to get in Super Smash Brothers 4... :)

Some of those names I've come across before while roaming Bulbapedia... I think a lot of them are odd, but I think Koffing and Weezing would have had it the worst off. Could you imagine going "Go! LA!" when sending out Weezing during battle? Supposedly, it's to reference the city of Los Angeles and pollution, but still! LA?! :cer_cry: Pokemon Speak at its worst, possibly leading to the derailment of Weezing's reputation...! *shudders* :cer_no:

    Strange Pokémon Facts!

Also, fun fact that may shine thru teh Internets one day: THERE WERE ORIGINALLY 150 151 190 POKEMON!!!!!! OMG!!!! :cer_eek: :cer_boogie:

    Strange Pokémon Facts!

So for all those "151-purists" in terms of Pokemon artistic design, there are 39 other Johto Pokemon that you have to vouch for as well! ;) :cer_laugh:

Duno if this has been posted before, but I was just watching episode 64 and the title card says "It's Mr. Mimie Time" (as opposed to "Mr. Mime Time").

By the way: did you know that Marill was going to be pink instead of blue? It looked like that even in the first playable beta in a Spaceworld event (can't remember the year).

I saw some beta art of it, and it does show it as being pink. I wonder why they would make such a seemingly insignificant change so late before the release of the actual game? 0_o

    Unreleased and unnamed turtle Pokemon

    Strange Pokémon Facts!

Nothing is known about this turtle Pokémon. The Pokémon it most closely resembles is Squirtle, but Squirtle was in Red and Green, which pre-dates the appearance of this image. Torkoal from Generation III, and the Turtwig evolution family from Generation IV bear the closest resemblance prior to its appearance, but it is highly unlikely they are related. It also bears a huge resemblance to Purutoga from Generation V.

Sorry, but those Pokémon were in the Pokémon Gold beta I mentioned, not for Pokémon Red & Green (but that doesn't I'm saying that you are a liar, they are just the wrong Pokémon).

By the way, did you know that in Pokémon Fire Red and Leaf Green's data there are unused OW sprites for Raikou, Entei, Suicune and Celebi. You don't believe, right? Just use AdvanceMap to find them.

And another trivia: Raikou's OW is green (unfinished palette?).

EDIT: Can someone tell me how to upload pictures from my computer so I can show you proof?

Then how do some of the RBY glitch Pokemon turn into actual Johto Pokemon when transferred to GSC...? Some of those glitch Pokemon's index numbers are before the index numbers of later Kanto Pokemon (this is seen all the way up to #190). And Shigeki Morimoto, the purported programmer of Mew, also alluded to there being 190 originally planned Pokemon as well. However, space limitations only permitted 150 to be included... (plus Mew, as later discovered)

(you're right about the artwork though; aside from Tyranitar, the rest were in GSC's dex)
