It because Pokemon Franchise will leave on with or without the Anime , The Anime is in far worst position then other Pokemon Franchise .
It takes a whole lot of money to make an Anime So if Producer notice Pokemon's Popularity is same as with or without Anime then they don't need to waste money on Anime.
Instate , They could use the money for greater project !
So , Writer/Director should come up with something with or without Ash before the Producer cancel the Anime .
Plus , It not like Ash is an awesome protagonist who can't be replaced ! Honestly , If Writer make a new Protagonist who's like Sora (No game no life) , Conan (Detective Conan) , Gold (Pokespe) , Harata(Pokemon DPA) Or Izayoi (Mondaiji Tachi) then Fan will forget Ash ever Existed!
Ash is completely boring ! He being an Underdog doesn't make him interesting Or likeable.
Actually being An Underdog doesn't guaranty that he's will be interesting ! Just like a lot of Digimon Fan like Taiki (Digimon Fusion) who happened to be a ''Child Prodigy'' While find Tagiru (Digimon Fusion) completely annoying despite he being the new Protagonist & a complete Underdog.
Truth is , People doesn't like Underdog Protagonist! People like to see The Protagonist being treated like an Underdog by other character even if he/she stronger then Everyone.
Like Tatsuya Shiba (Mahōka Kōkō no Rettōsei) Or Touma (Toaru Majutsu no Index)
Fan simply want to see The Protagonist stun everyone who look down upon him by unleashing his true Power.
Ya Ash is very kind But 90% Kids Anime Protagonist are Super Kind & Selfless .
As for Bonding with Pokemon , Its an Anime about Pokemon so that a fundamental quality all Pokemon Protagonist should have .
But Good Progonist has their own characteristic that wasn't a requirement for the show and those Characteristic makes a Protagonist unique .
For example Some Protagonist are Sly , Some Protagonist are cold ,Some Protagonist are Airhead Some Protagonist are perverted etc.
Unfortunately , Ash's characteristic beyond Requirement aren't really cool !
Currently , Ash is just too freaking nice & Innocent ! Like an Harem Anime protagonist form VN .
Honestly , The Original Ash who was Arrogant , Prideful , Show-off , Attention-seeker , Mischievous & Sarcastic was better .
FYI : BW Series didn't Brought the Old Ash back , Truth is , BW Ash is more incompetent & Idiotic version of DP Ash .
Yeah, and underdog characters are only interesting if they are actually allowed to gradually grow stronger in a reasonable frame of time, and right now, its not going to end up that way with Ash (especially considering the disaster that was the BW series). I don't mind underdog protagonists as long as they are at least shown to actually get stronger and more skilled, thus making their progression worth watching. We got some sense of that in Johto and Sinnoh, but not in AG or BW. Hopefully Ash's result in the Kalos league, win or lose, is closer to Johto and Sinnoh's results and not AG or BW's results.
And forget DP Ash, BW Ash is even more idiotic than even Indigo League Ash. At least Indigo League Ash had it being his very first time as a Pokémon Trainer and thus inexperience as an excuse for some of his actions, BW Ash doesn't have such an excuse, or any excuse for that matter, not even that it was a region far away (I went to Italy a few years ago for a Christmas vacation, and even though I had never set foot in that country before and not like a change in routine, I definitely was able to cope with the experience and not go around like an idiot like Ash did. Heck, I didn't do that with Vancouver, the only other time I left the United States from my recollection). Honestly, Misty was actually correct in Episode 3 as much as it pains me to say this: Ash truly is the worst Pokémon Trainer if he keeps this up.
Plus, the games themselves pretty much replace the protagonists all the time, so it's getting a bit tiresome that Ash is constantly being used for every single region, constantly failing, and in at least one case even making sure he fails in a particularly dismal fashion. Even under advertisement reasons, there's no excuse for not including both game protagonists as main characters in the series, either as replacements to Ash or otherwise as people Ash is mentoring. I mean, what's the point in even watching an advertisement of the games if the person you're actually playing as isn't even a main character in the series (Yes, we do have May and Dawn, but that doesn't cut it, as I doubt most characters who play the games play as the opposite gender when asked unless they are transgendered. We need Brendan and Lucas in the series as main characters in addition to May and Dawn for the advertisements to actually work.), and they gave that up in BW. They did return to it somewhat in XY, but the problem is Serena doesn't seem to have a clearly defined goal other than wanting to hang out with Ash, and even with her having a Pokémon, she isn't doing something consistently that actually involves Pokémon, and just does various odd jobs. Misty and Iris at least had becoming Pokémon Masters of a specific type as a goal, and May and Dawn at least had Coordinating (even though Pokémon Coordinating in the games doesn't even impact the game's story at all, unlike Pokémon Leagues where you actually HAVE to beat the Elite 4 and the Champ in order to get the game's ending. At least with Misty and Iris, it can be justified by using a purely Water or Dragon-type team [even dual-types as long as they have either Water or Dragon as one of the types] in the games for the leagues.). Heck, even Brock, Tracey, and Max actually have a goal to some extent (Pokémon Breeding and later Pokémon Doctor, meeting Professor Oak, and learning to become a trainer in advance, respectively). She literally has nothing at all regarding her goal and Pokémon other than a starter. And considering we're already about thirty episodes in, or at least close to that number with Ash having already gotten his first badges, its unlikely they're ever going to have that. Even May managed to change goals by the time of the battle with Roxanne.
Also, I could forgive losses as long as there was an actual indication of improvement via a rank increase that makes the loss actually worth something. If he does terribly in a league, such as retaining a rank (Hoenn) or worse, decreasing in rank (Unova), then glorified advertisement or not, face of the franchise or not, they really need to keep Ash off the series as constantly watching him lose without any indication that he's actually getting closer to getting to his goal makes the entire thing pointless, even IF we use the excuse of "the journey, not the end result, is what matters," which really, considering how long that's been going on, even that's flimsy at best. Besides, technically, the anime series is supposed to be about the Pokémon, not Ash, so we really don't need to constantly make Ash the main protagonist. Now, if the series actually had his name on it, that's different, because since the series actually has his name on it, that means he's obviously the focus and can't be removed without cancelling the show. Though even then it requires it to be blatant and not ambiguous. Even though part of the reason why the Metal Gear series' flagship series was called Metal Gear Solid was because of Solid Snake, Solid Snake ended up replaced by Raiden and, later, Big Boss as series main protagonist after MGS2, because another reason for the name of the series, and probably more important than that, was because of the 3D "solid" graphics.
