Do you prefer plot driven RP's or sandbox RP's? Why so, and have you given the other one a try?

Each has its place. Sandbox RP's are a nightmare to maintain, but they pretty much run themselves as long as you have enough people ready to keeping it going. Plot driven roleplays tend to be more exciting, but sometimes pacing kills off the fun of the plot, which is a shame.

Have you realised you make a better Roleplayer than GM, or the other way around? How did you figure it out, and have you accepted it or tried to change it?

What does my track record say?... DX

I'm probably a better GM than roleplayer, unfortunately. Saying that, I'm also a terribly busy person at the moment who gets bogged down with real life :( sometimes GM-ing is a labour I don't have time for. Being a player is much easier - as long as people aren't relying on me too much for snappy, quick joint posts.

My GM-mind is hard to shut up sometimes though ;-; currently I can't help but want to set up some kind of Borrower's/Arrietty roleplay.

Two weeks, no weeks; potayto, potahto! I'm not sure if hiatus would affect the veteran status. Don't think so :) because if you've been here over three years ago, you're still kind of an oldie. I'll let Skymin decide ;)

In other news, the RP summer we were dreaming about seems to have arrived! New RPs are practically raining in. Better it be raining RPs than water, eh?


I'm still adjusting to my working hours and struggling with finding energy and actual time to write though. I'll officially declare myself the slowest player to joint post with and I should bake a cake for Bastian and Raikiri and the others who are affected...

@Adventure It would be set in a single house, where players live in isolated homes hidden away in different rooms. It would be driven by a fairly comical plot, playing on odd dangers such as a new, over-friendly cat or the dreaded thursday vacuum cleaner.

I'm in the opposite place, I have just over one more manic week at work then it is the summer holidaaaaysss!

And it's nice to see activity picking up. I have my own roleplay ready to post, but . . . this one is based around Mega Evolution, so I'm probably going to postpone it until November until all of the ORAS Megas have been released. Until then I'll try working on a few other projects.

In general, what kind of roleplays would everyone like to see?

@Naku - I'd love to see a supernatural/sci-fi RP set in an underground city that follows the struggles of oppressed people with superpowers against the government and mysterious creatures wreaking havoc. I think there might already be something like that here though... ;)

Honestly, I'm hoping to see more original and unique concepts coming in. I had a massive nerd moment when I read the plot for Tinted - I say bring on more original stuff!

Just steampunk in general sounds awesome to me. Adding supernatural in there could make for a good mix too.

Whether or not I'd join it is up for debate though. As much as I'd probably like to, summer has made me incredibly busy lazy, so yeah.

If someone is creative enough to put, like, a massive spin on the steampunk genre though I definitely couldn't say no. Originality ftw.

Wow that would be cool. I have no clue how one would go about doing that though.

Another thing a friend of mine from another site once mentioned was a Medieval-Pokemon RP. He said it could be somewhat based off of the ancient times described in that Pokemon movie, Lucario and the Mystery of Mew, but with some original concepts also. A big thing that was planned for that was actually befriending your Pokemon properly, cause without pokeballs they have minds of their own, so they can turn on their trainers and whatnot. Also, big Pokemon wars. But we already got enough of those. >.>

Idk, just throwing ideas out there. Up for grabs for potential plagiarizers GMs. Nobody ever went through with that idea as far as I know so it's still sort of original.

It was called Steampunk'd, GMed by Skymin. Although it looks like the thread was deleted.

I've tried GM-ing a sort-of steampunk supernatural RPG before on 2 other pokemon forums. Less than 5 people joined. After the 4th GM post, all the other players just disappeared and stopped playing without any reason.

I've also tried pitching the same idea as an interest check to those legit RPG forums specially made for RPG (not like an RPG subforum in a pokemon forum). Only 1 reply came back, and it turned out to be a criticism.

So yea, I think the whole "Creativity and Originality pls" doesn't really appeal to the public, even to the RPG public, based on my past experiences :/

Depends on what you come up with really. I know people (myself included) who prefer original RPs to existing world based RPs. Generally they are harder to come to fruition since you're setting up a new world, but the creativity some people have can bring about amazing looking RPs (as gimmepie pointed out Tinted, for example).
