6th Gen Is anyone still not excited?

I know there are a lot of Hoenn fans and it was the first Pokemon game played by many but I can't help but feeling that this game hasn't brought anything absolutely substantial and revolutionary.

In truth, I was one of the people saying how Gen 3 didn't need a remake but low and behold, here we are. I was hoping we would get a little more story for some of us that played Ruby And Sapphire years ago but it feels a bit cheap now because they are just teasing Mega evos and not really anything else.

I'm not trying to start a Gen war among fans because I know those get out of hand but I feel that there should be something to further the legacy of R&S and this just feels like they are trying to squeeze some money out of nostaligic fans. I remember playing R&S a million times in the early 2000s but I did get tired of it after a while.

Is there anyone that is still not excited about these games or do you think there is more exciting news to come? (besides the 5 barbie pikachus they just announced :p )

I feel that Gamefreak is trying to "fix" things with mega evolutions - not in the ORAS context but Gen VI in general. Megas in XY were generally well-received, but one complaint was the sheer lack of use in the game itself. True enough, only Lysandre, one of your rivals and Diantha could mega evolve pokemon. Otherwise it's just the player abusing Megas against other trainers.

Honestly, mega evolution does fit into ORAS rather well. I find it a lot wiser to include it as part of Steven's research, since he's a stone maniac. I find it WAY better than a small little compulsory sidequest in XY from a gym leader that barely even knows you.

People are excited, myself included, because of the graphical and other tech improvements. Believe it or not, I can FINALLY play multiplayer in Hoenn, because I never bought a link cable for my GBA. The graphics look great, and to some extent even better than those of XY. It's definitely a massive step up from RSE. Hoenn is also the only region so far not to get any "3D" environment, while Kanto already got it in HGSS (not talking about storyline but the region itself). Oh, and the special/physical split.

I'm looking forward to more contest info, and a possible battle frontier. I have friends here also hoping to see the return of the PokeNav.

I'm someone who doesn't really care about anything mind blowing being added to a remake. I just really enjoyed the old games and I'm excited now to play them again with new features and all in 3D.

I am a little bit excited, but as I've gotten older games don't really pop out at me like they used to. I guess you could say that I'm looking forward to it. I think I'll get more hyped up when more information is released. I'm definitely excited about some of the returning features and new features. Like creating your own gym. That'd be pretty cool. :)

I'm not terribly excited for ORAS, but that's because I don't want to set the bar too high for it, only to have it not meet my rather high expectations; I've done that too many times in the past. Hopefully by not getting excited I'll be pleasantly surprised when I play it.

I personally wasn't looking for anything new in the remakes, all I really wanted was to be able to play Hoenn again in the newest generation on the 3DS :) The new Primal Reversals and several other features such as the ability to share Secret Bases with the world and Amie have just been some awesome, extra bonuses. So even if we hadn't gotten those things it would have been slightly disappointing, but I would still be excited to play RSE again :)

Don't forget Korrina, she's a Mega user too (Lucario battle).

I didn't have a link cable so I couldn't complete the dex during these games. Now with the new wi-fi features I hope to complete the Hoenn dex and get my Johto starter (if they're having them like in Emerald).

Oops, totally forgot about that even when I made a reference to her in the later paragraph. Silly me.

I have confidence that the mega implementation in ORAS will be much better than XY. To be honest, I found mega evolution to be a terrible gimmick in XY. It just doesn't seem to flow. A gym leader who doesn't really know you, for some reason wants to award you a mega ring. Then wut... Lysandre that stalker. And finally Diantha who suddenly appeared out of nowhere.

Steven (and Devon Co.) is way more bonded with the player. At least we will get to see some flow here.

To sum it up for OP:
to be excited is surely possible, given all the advancements in tech, gameplay and engine. To be overly excited... Well, I'm not exactly that. It's a remake after all. I'd admit when I first see such leaks I get super psyched, but most of the time that excess hype dies down fast because it's a feature that's expected anyway (mega metagross for instance).

That's not to say ORAS is going to be dull shyt, the new secret bases are really cool... And I'm still crazy over those.

I've waited for these games for awhile now, and considering how much I've been posting on here I'll say I'm excited for these games to come out. Sigh, four months and 10 days to go...(at least it's not an extra week, I think I'll go insane if I lived in Europe...)

I'm super... excited. Yay. No 3DS for this loser lol.

So I guess I'll wait for the emulator and ROM :P

Otherwise, I'd not be able to fall asleep waiting for these. Hoenn was by far my favorite region, with my favorite Pokemon as well.

I am seriously happy to see this topic like I don't think you understand.

At this point I honestly though I was the only one. I love Hoenn, as I do most every other region, very much. I do have many fond memories of playing through R/S/E when I was young, and many memories of being completely stoked about the release of the games for months. But I can't say I'm actually that excited for ORAS. I think it'll be a fantastic addition to the series, but well... it's a remake and I can only experience so much new content. It's not a whole other region with all new Pokemon, characters, etc. You know what I mean?

    I'm still definitely going to buy it and enjoy it to the fullest, but I tend to look forward to new regions more than remakes. uvu;

I'm fairly excited! But like Zekrom, I'm not expecting too much. XY really disappointed me mainly because I set my expectations for it really high. The sheer lack of new Pokémon and easy difficulty of the game really drained it for me. If there's an exp share or any device like it, I'm not going to be using it in ORAS for my main playthrough.

I'm mainly excited for the graphics and scenery of the game as well as reliving all my past memories playing Emerald. <3

I don't care for remakes. They are just polished up games that I already own. The addition of even more Megas is a huge turn off for me. And other than for the sake of it being a Pokemon game, nothing they have shown has any reason for me to buy it.

The release information is very underwhelming and I'm getting more and more depressed about this release the more they try to show.

Right now...ORAS is shaping up to be worse than HG/SS in my books and that is an incredible achievement because I dislike both G/S and HG/SS.

I'm kinda on the fence. Didn't really like RSE to begin with (got passed Flannery and got bored, I think), but I like contests and secret bases. That's basically I'm excited for: decorating (I have Animal Crossing for this) and contest ribbons I can transfer back to X & Y.

I didn't see Gen III as being that great, quite honestly. I much prefer Gen I, Gen II and Gen V. I like RSE's plot better than X&Y's plot, though.

    Meh.

For me Gen III and IV were the pinnacle of the generations I've played fully (Gen's III-VI), with Gen V as the abyss...mal ruins... Gen VI seems better. I was disappointed by the redesigns of the evil teams and the Main characters which popped my excitement. Now it's back to normal (for me when it comes to Hoenn) levels.

X and Y rode on extremely high expectations, and didn't quite meet them, mainly because of the small amount of new Pokemon introduced. However, Hoenn has been my favorite region ever since I first set foot in Littleroot Town way back in Sapphire, and I expect ORAS to be amazing and entertaining for weeks on end, with the Battle Frontier, Contests, and secret bases keeping me busy for long after the Champion's been defeated. Those are the things that really made Hoenn stand out for me, and they're what's making me so obsessed with these remakes. Can't wait.

I'm going to get a lot of hate here, but I honestly didn't really like Gen I and I find that Gen I is terribly overhyped.

Yes it is where it all began, it is where it all started. I understand that.
However the really horrible AI (I remembered Blaine kept on using a hyper potion on his Rapidash even when the HP is full, and he wasn't the only person), the really bleak storyline (it's just winning your rival, really...), and the fact that there's a huge group of people worshipping that generation as though they're gods is kinda pissing me off.

I understand that it is Gen I. Pokemon was very new back then and will have a high tendency for faults. However the genwunners sometimes pisses me off real bad by thinking that gen is king and the others were plain sh!t.

For me, Gen III and IV were the ones I really enjoyed. Gen V was my least favorite out of all. XY was a missed opportunity due to its easy difficulty.

I'm pretty sure everyone is excited considering almost everyone is yearning for it. It was also the first games of most of the Pokemon fans out there. And considering we had a meme attributed to it aka #HoennConfirmed.

My issue with the remakes are more on how I already have the starters, a large sum of the Pokedex, and that I feel like they won't offer anything of value in the post game , story-wise. Like, actually making a story around Rayquaza which forces the player to lose their badges and challenge stronger leaders and the Elite Four, but with more of a selection to catch. How everything ended abruptly with the story of the original RSE is not what should be done in the remakes this time around.
