Not too good at "balanced teams" also with Black it's kind of tough to make a team without including too many Unova Pokemon - hopefully this works out:

That's entirely up to you. It would be a rule you added. Although, given the nature of this challenge, I don't recommend it. Having to go back and catch a Pokemon that died would suck.

I thought I had checked the Pokemon before suggesting - it says available on Rt 6 (water) if still not available, then suggest using Basculin.

It's available in Black 2, but no Pokemon pre-Gen 5 are in Black/White before beating the Elite Four I think.

Yeah, I know. I'm not sure how often I'll get to do this challenge, but I'll do it when I'm bored and am not playing X, so it could take a while for me to complete this challenge.

Got to play today so I'll post my first update now

Pokemon FireRed Update #1

Spoiler:

-Started the game, named my character Magic and my rival Green. Then I withdrew the potion from the computer.
-Hacked in a level 5 Koffing for my starter.
-Battled my rival after choosing Koffing as my starter. Nicknamed it "Jupiter". He started out with Poison Gas and Tackle as his first two moves.
-Traveled to Viridian City, got the potion from the Poke Mart clerk on Route 1, and found a Potion in Viridian City as well. Healed at the Pokemon Center, then got Prof. Oak's Parcel.
-Delivered Professor Oak's Parcel to him at his laboratory in Pallet Town. Got the Pokedex and 5 Poke Balls as a reward.
-Battled my rival near Viridian City and the Indigo Plateau.
-Was stopped by an old man to give me lessons on catching Pokemon while I was on my way to Viridian Forest, he proceeded to give me the Teachy TV.
-Was stopped multiple times to battle Bug Catchers and wild useless pieces of garbage >.< Weedle & Caterpie.
-Got through Viridian Forest with nearly no PP left, then healed right away at the Pokemon center.
-Arrived in Pewter City, & Challenged Brock. Poison Gas played an important role in this battle.
-Defeated Brock and got his badge, along with the TM containing Rock Tomb.
-Healed at a Pokemon center, got the running shoes, etc.
-Skipped some trainers on Route 3 and got the entrance of Mt.Moon, where I healed at the Pokemon center.
-Caught Jigglypuff and nicknamed it "Pink Puff". It only knew Sing and Defense Curl and was at level 5 when I caught it.
-Trained Jigglypuff by switching it in and out, and using Koffing as well to defeat the skipped trainers on Route 3 as well as some wild Pokemon.
-Got Jigglypuff to level 9 so it could learn Pound, it's first attacking move.
-Healed at the Pokemon Center and saved the game.

Update on my current team: Between Santalune City & arriving at Route 5
Pokemon: 5
Caught: 2 - Francine, the Ledyba (she will join team) - Charmander, female nickname Johanna(to PC)
Evolved: 0 - two Pokemon got their everstone (Fox & Polly) part of the challenge that I accepted is that they won't evolve - George has to remain a Panpour until I reach route 8 where I can get the Water Stone (already searched in all my other games - don't have extra to spare).
Badges 1/8 - next gym match is until Cyllage City, still far from it.

Along the way:

• On Route 4 I caught Francine, the female Ledyba, I was quite surprised how long it took me to come up with her nickname - it took me almost 2 hours trying to come up with one, I never gave a bug-type a nickname before, I had to rely on the movie "A Bug's Life" for idea

• I arrived at Lumiose City, too bad I can't do much of exploring - the north and central parts of the city are in a power outtage.
