I'm having trouble with the Habitat tab.

When I add a new pokemon (from expanded dex in FR) to any habitat and save it'll ask me to repoint which I did but I got an error message, I read on a previous post that this is due to the habitat being pointed to 0xFFFFF but I'm pretty sure I repointed correctly to the new offset while saving. How do I solve this because the dex entry page isn't showing correctly when I caught a new pokemon.

PS: I already got a national dex

I'm new so I can't post links/images but this is the post I'm refering to, the error is exactly the same as the one on the link on the quoted.

    What am I doing wrong?

I'm working on hacking FireRed. I wanted to add a few Pokémon of my own. So I decided to use one of the "?" spots after Celebi to make way for my new ones.

I didn't change anything just yet. Before anything, I went to adding my Pokémon to the Pokédex. I put it under the "Rare" category, sitting beside Deoxys. However, when I clicked "Save All" it asked to repoint to an offset or something. And it kept asking me to do that every single time I saved my progress. Eventually, it asked me to repoint after every single action I made.

And when I added a Pokédex entry, that killed it. Now there was an error showing up. Something about tracing. It told me it could recover a corrupted ini. It asked me for the number of Pokémon, items, and other things. Since I didn't actually add anything additional to the numbers, I left it as is and clicked "Submit".

Alas, another error. I tried again and again, but I could no longer access my ROM through this program. I was screwed.

I didn't even touch the moveset or sprite yet; just the Pokédex things, and the program went bonkers. I literally did nothing else. Could anyone else to me if I did something wrong, or if this was just a bug?

You can just instead expand the pokedex you know. Also the error is on the Habitat Tab. That messes things. I have the same problem.

    Expand the Pokédex...?

    Explain

Open up a Fire Red rom in the program. On the right three is a button that says 'expand pokedex' or something to that degree. Press it and follow the prompts. The program will automatically update and repoint everything for you.

One thing, I wanted to totally change one of the original pokemon, for a quick test I chose to replace charmander. I changed the moves stats sprites pokedex everything. It all works in game and looks fine. The one problem I am having however is whenever I try to change the pokemons name from Charmander to the name I want for my new pokemon it doesnt save. And when I load up the rom and select charmander as the starter pokemon instead of the name I gave it, the text still says its name is Charmander. Is this a bug perhaps?

Well, depending on what you mean by the name saying Charmander when you select it makes an impact on determining your actual problem.

If when you look at Oak's Balls you see the names Charmander, Squirtle, and Bulbasaur... that means you didn't alter that script in the game.
If when you add not-Charmander to your party you see the name Charmander, then that means you probably forgot to save the name change in G3HS.

  • In your tool, when you expand the number pokemon, does it expand the national dex too ? Because when I want them to evolve they don't evolve even with the National Dex, and in the Dex, they have a "???" for number....How can I make them evolve ?

  • I have got an error, it does not affect the actual game, as far as I know.
I was changing clefairy to riolu and when I saved the stats that I had changed, it came up with this error:

    Spoiler:

I am user MrDollSteaks ROM base for decap and moves but i'm using his ini

    To your question:
When you expand your pokemon, there was a box to expand the pokedex

I am using A-map, is there any way to recover the rom? I do have a backup but I have added like, 12 pokemon since then so I do not want to lose that.

I said that with this box the evolutions doesn't work, and I was talking about the Dex.

I don't know if it's possible to recover your ROM. I think you have to restart from your backup.

  • I'm confused on how to run this on Mac. Is it as simple as running the applicatioin Gen_III_Suite? Because I receive the error

22:06:32: can't open file 'Resources/Icon.png' (error 2: No such file or directory)
22:06:32: Failed to load image from file "Resources/Icon.png".

I'm sorry if this sounds like an idiotic question.

  • For some reason, the Expand Pokemon button is missing. I am using the windows version. How might this be fixed?

  • Does anyone know weather I can use A-Map with this tool, just not both open at the same time, or if i'll have to wait till after i've done all the pokemon to do the mapping? Does anyone else use A-Map then this afterwards?

    And also, this error:
    Spoiler:

And, evolutions are not showing up in the program
when I play the game, the pokemon evolve at the levels they evolve normally (I replaced Caterpie with Gible, Gible evolves at lvl 7, not 24...)

I should be able to run the iso in a virtualbox and compile that way. Compiling on windows is so quirky.:/

    So.. when you'll do it?
I also use XP and the program constantly crashes, i can't use the 'Mon Expander or change the sprite because when i click in "Save All", it crashes ;_; ...
(And since im in safe mode for X reasons, i can't install .NET Framework to use Advanced Series or Yape)
