The Drink of Disenchantment
________________________________________________________________________________________
It has been over a century since the Battle of Hogwarts but peace has not lasted long in the wizarding world. Many copycats would emerge over the years to take Voldemort's place, to gain the power he never fully achieved, but to no avail. These criminals would eventually get caught and were sent to Azkaban, the notorious wizard's prison. The worst of the lot would be sent to deal with Alozandra Lane.
During her time as a student, Alozandra had been very gifted. She assisted her professors in their research and consistently stayed at the top of her class. She excelled in potions and many at Hogwarts wanted to see her one day become a professor of the subject. But then an offer from the Ministry of Magic came in that intrigued Alozandra more than any position in academia ever did. It was a tight lipped experiment that they had been working on for years, but couldn't get right. At Azkaban, they didn't believe in the death penalty, but still wanted a last resort punishment to inflict on this recent surge of criminals using dark magic. They needed her help creating a potion that would rid the drinker of all their magical abilities.
Alozandra worked tirelessly on this potion, until finally on a rainy day in April everything came together and the potion was created. They called it "The drink of disenchantment" it was clear and had a shimmering quality to it and was completely odorless. Alozandra watched, unflinching from behind a double sided mirror, as the first criminal drank the potion. She would do this a hundred more times, getting more and more frustrated with all the evil in the magical world.
Sitting with the executioner, they would talk about the rise in magical crime and how Hogwarts never truly had a period of peace. Alozandra argued that so long as magic existed, there would be people who abused it. To her, true peace would come when everyone gave up their magical powers. She also argued that magic created an unnecessary hierarchy between humans. Why should only a select group of people be allowed to use magic? To her, it was time to leave magic in the history books and return to normal life.
Over the next few years, Alozandra would begin creating a group of followers who believed in her vision. People who sympathized and understood the muggle world, who believed in total equality, who were tired of being scared to return to Hogwarts. That being said, other groups began cropping up all around: in high places and in small circles, who would stop at nothing to make sure this witch didn't get her way. Most of this was still relatively unknown to the overall magical population, the Ministry of Magic worked extremely hard to keep it that way.
But then something peculiar started to happen. Families began coming forward, telling tales of family members who had lost all magical abilities and memories of magic. More keep coming forward and the ministry is worried that Alozandra or her followers are behind this. Alozandra left her role at Azkaban and hasn't been spotted since.
As Hogwarts begins another year of schooling, whispers have begun to circulate around the halls. Some people doubt the potion's existence while others claim to know a friend of a friend whose cousin actually drank the potion. Others seem to think the potion may be hidden within the walls of the castle somewhere. Whatever the case, the students begin taking sides and joining their own groups to help Alozandra's cause, or to stop it before more wizards and witches are lost. It's a tense time at Hogwarts and the students are more determined than ever to learn about the mystery behind this potion, their magical future stakes on it.
You're a Wizard!

You are playing as a student at Hogwarts who will be attending school while the fight between these two sides begins to grow and eventually boil. You'll learn more about these rumors of the potion, pick a side, and help fight for your side. Even though there is an overarching plot, this RP is still pretty open for you to explore Hogwarts. Attend a quidditch match, fight a troll in the dungeon, go searching for the Mirror of Erised, just make sure to pick a side and follow along with the major events that happen to help move the story along.
Important Notes:
- Under no circumstance can you go "Avada Kedavra-ing" around this RP. If you feel it is absolutely crucial to use this spell, talk to me about it first. For those unfamiliar with Harry Potter, this is the killing spell.
-In the story, your character is allowed to come across this potion. Whether or not your character drinks the potion and loses their magical abilities is completely up to you. You cannot force another person's character to drink the potion.
-You must make an original character. I do not want a bunch of Weasleys, Potters and Malfoys running around. They had their time to shine, this is yours!
Sign Up Sheet:
__________________________________________________________________________________________
The only players that will partake in this are students at Hogwarts. **Please note, do not mention in this sign up whether or not your character agrees with getting rid of magic. That will develop within the story** I'll control Alozandra, the professors major decisions and other minor characters as they come up.
The RP will be broken up into 3 arcs that will drive the plot. Each arc will have a few events that you can react with to help move the story along. You'll be able to post a few times per arc if you'd like, building your character and then responding to the different events and conflicts. Since it'll be easy to get adjusted to the story, I'll leave sign ups open until we near the end of Arc 2. Feel free to sign up, there's currently no limit (although each person can have one character)!
