I really think these starter split evolutions will be based on gender rather than day and night. I think the similarity they share with Rockruff will be split evolution, but in terms of what determines the evolution, then I think gender would be more fitting for starters.

Interesting you think that, when you consider the final evolutions seen in the concept art where Popplio's is more feminine than Rowlet and Litten's. If gender-based evolution will be the case for the starters, I may be heavily tempted to soft-reset for a female Popplio if the male evolution looks ugly.

Well that's what can happen when you stick your neck out and say outright that something isn't going to happen.

I don't really understand why people would have ever thought they were going to be removed anyway. No new Megas I could see but not the outright removal of them....I mean they've never removed Pokemon or forms of Pokemon before. (well aside from spiky eared Pichu maybe but that's kind of an odd one) Why would they start now?

Because they found Mega Evolutions broken because of the likes of Kangaskhan and Rayquaza dominating the VGC and Lucario, Blaziken, Mawile, and Gengar having their Mega Evolutions banned to Ubers.

So far, shady hasn't made a new video regarding this news.

Personally happy that Megas are at least going to be a thing in Sun & Moon, even if we aren't going to get any new ones. I kind of figured it'd be a bit on a ridiculous side for Game Freak to somehow jettison a feature that they built a plot so heavily around last generation and have it so integral to battles only to have it not be a thing in a subsequent generation. That jsut seems like a weird move, to me.

Like you said, I felt it would have been weird to have Mega Evolution removed after just one generation, even with Game Freak's tendency to drop features between generations. I never actually paid attention to how well-received it was in media outside of the games as well, so I can get why people were getting concerned over nothing related to Mega Evolution appearing in S/M trailers so far.

Anyways, TheOneIntegral has uploaded a new video regarding the starters' final evolutions. He believes the ones we've seen in the concept art may be the Moon forms.

He misinterpreted. They still have a secret, just that its not necessarily the same as Rockruff's, but even then, we aren't sure of that either.

While the split evos concept may be fresh, I do feel that messing with the starters' straight evolution paths could be an issue. We'll probably have to wait until release before we get official closure on this speculation, though.

If there are new megas, I could see a postgame involving them.

Perhaps if Aether is evil, after you defeat them, some members reform the company to be truly good, while others leave and go out to carry on their own expierments.

Perhaps they go out and experiment on megas making them stronger and cause trouble around the islands. You have to stop them once and for all. It be neat if they went after a new mega legendary. This angers the guardians and they team up with you to stop them, assuming they don't in the main game.

Then to be even more of a dream, beating it, gets you Battle Frontier access.

I highly doubt that, because Pokemon starters always have a 87.5%-12.5% male/female ratio

I do agree. That tradition of starters having an extremely high chance of being male is very unlikely to be changed, so while a gender split evolution does look like an interesting idea, the problem is that we're way more likely to end up with one form over the other and that's what I call unbalanced.

This gen has been changing thing so I wouldn't be surprised if the gender ratio for this gen's starters were 50/50.

As someone said earlier, having there own Z-Moves wouldn't be that big of a deal and honestly, I don't think they would have even mentioned Starters have a secrete if it wasn't similar to Rockruff in a way. And honestly, getting both kinds wouldn't be that difficult. There will a Day Care and we can probably easily get a Ditto, especially if we use Pokemon Bank. It would also give us some freedom of choice if it is Night or Day.


Also, a while ago, someone mentioned that the games could be rated T because of a rumor. However, this has now been debunked officially, as the main site states that they are rated E. I am sure everyone knew that by now, but just figured I'd point that out.

I actually pointed out that rating. It can see be E10, but there was stuff in the website's code about mild alcohol reference, and humor, and one other thing I can't think of off the top of my head. Which might happen still, but probably not.

Regardless of who said what about who having a secret, I'd believe Joe any day over PokeJungle. If Joe's saying they don't have a secret then I'm with him.

It's a fact that CoroCoro says the starters have a secret. It doesn't really matter what Joe says. You can even translate it for yourself if you want. The thing people keep misinterpreting is that they "share" a secret, which isn't true. It just says "Rockruff has a secret and the starters also seem to have a secret as well."

I don't believe the starters have split forms though. None of the reliable leaks or the starters' themes imply it at all and the reliable leaks keep describing and citing the exact same set of three starters we've seen. If they have a secret my guess is that it's something else.

Joe has gotten a few thing wrong, including the name of some of the pokemon. He has also not posted a few things that is brought up in the Corocoro, one being Rockruff playing a big part. He said nothing new was shown in a video in the past, when a lot of new things were shown, including Z Moves.

And they do have a secret. And just a FYI, he does say they have a secret, not that they don't have one. He just didn't say they shared one.
