  • I ran into 3 people who only spoke Italian today!
It went pretty well for the most part
    LOL :P

I was doing good till one lady started speaking really fast...
I would definitely want to do that, since it affects the whole experience kinda, but I'm not sure what to do once it's been converted from a .asm file to a .bin file. If I ever make an actual attempt to learn asm, then I'll definitely do it.
    i replaced the bytes
    0x4d 0x58
    with
    0xec 0x08
    in a hex editor.
that's what the tutorial said to do and it crashes my rom.
hi. i have an asm sort of question.
i followed MastermindX's ruins of alph tutorial, and replaced all
    0x4d 0x58
    with
    0xec 0x08
but now, when i open my rom, it crashes. how do i fix that?
I'm doing awesome! So far I've made 450$ without really doing anything XD

Thanks again for the alarm it's awesome ^^

There is a guy in the class who did programing for like 30 years so I spent most of the day talking to him about stuff LOL Tomorrow I gotta do field work but its gonna be easy =)

    How's everything with you?
Haha well thats ok. I have a question though. Since GBA runs on the same engine or whatever, can I rip a follow me routine for another game and implement it on a pokemon game?
Hm... I hope all that means is that Emerald hackers have to be more careful when repointing/inserting stuff.

Also near the end of the Emerald rom, starting at 0xE3CF64, the rest of the entire rom is FFs, even though Emerald uses 00 for free space. Since R/S/FR/LG uses FF for free space, is it possible that Emerald doesn't use 00, meaning it's not actually free space, and that the only free space Emerald has is from 0xE3CF64 until the end of the rom?

EDIT: Just to clarify, what I meant was that from 0xE3CF64 to 0xFFFFFF is all only FF bytes, even though Emerald supposedly uses 00 bytes.

EDIT: OMG THANK YOU. I tried doing something in AM that I know for sure corrupts the sound. First, I took a patch of my hack, and renamed "OLDALE TOWN" to "VIRIDIAN CITY". I know 100% sure that it will corrupt the sound more, and then I got a copy of my hack, and renamed OLDALE again, except I manually chose what offset. The sound didn't corrupt! So I guess it's a matter of knowing what's free space and what's not.
I noticed that you have a little "I'm Fixin It" series going on. Do you think you could try and "fix" the Emerald sound corruption problems?

Just in case you don't know what that is, EVERY Emerald hack at PokeCommunity suffers from sound corruption, and what I mean by that is when some of the notes played in the BGM are replaced with annoying 8-bit sounding beeps. Every Emerald hack suffers from it, the worst case I've seen is Pokemon CrystalShards, which was a hack someone made from a couple of years ago.
OK. I will, but would it be possible if you posted them? I don't have those banner or the CSS-type thread design ability :/
May I have permission to post some of your tools somewhere else?
We are slowing growing, and more users are starting to get interested in ROM hacking, I think that your tools will exponentially increase their success rate and urge them to learn more.
