  • Lol yeah, I like the sound of them anyhow. But yeah, good luck~

    oh make sure that if you're doing any pitch bend events that you return the bend to normal after you're done.
    Meh, everything's going alright. I'm joining the Community Day ^-^ And you?

    My laptop came with Norton, but it was just a trial.
    Thanks for the tips, though!
    lol I just write the notes. I don't even use bends because I'm a lazy bum. I just write the notes as really really fast notes.

    Basically midi events are timed by a duration of ticks, if the ticks are closer together the bend will be less jittery. Not sure if you can change this in AS
    tbh I only know the basics about anvil studio lol, (embarrassed). Although the pitchbend might be a limitation of the driver itself, have you tried doing it so that they're closer together? If you go in the events tab they have all the events, and usually very slick pitch bends are very close to one another, I'm not sure how to edit that though...

    I use AS for just writing notes. I'm such a simpleton aaah
    aaaaaah noooooooo (yikes sounds like it got pretty bad). Basically he holds it like from the top instead of the bottom. Which blows my mind. aaaah

    I like the dorky 80's synth, because I mean. Come on. Amazing.
    Let's just hope it doesn't end up like that song, SHE BLINDED ME WITH SCIENCE aaaaaa terrible joke feel free to hit me with a guitar (technically even then though if it's just your retina a lot of progress is being made to that so it would be restorable at some point, and since your brain is already adapted to seeing things the cool way instead of the mysterious SOUNDY SOUND way it would make recovery and prognosis way better)

    My buddy plays with the hand facing the wrong way. Is your vision good enough to see a video? I could show you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cCeJKYF25W4

    He's actually really really really good though, this was a practice thing he was doing and we were kind of messing around.

    I can only play guitar. I'm pretty good but very out of practice. I usually synthesize stuff.
    Yeah that's true, and you're 17 so probably no income >.>

    Yikes. Well I have heard that scientists have been working hard at producing artifical retinas and the information does look pretty promising. Too bad it wouldn't help my buddy since he was always blind and he wouldn't really know what to do with sight but I could see that helping you down the line. Maybe after developing a treatment to keep the arteries in check it could be used to repair any damage done to the retina later. It's really amazing what science can do these days. Too bad that won't help most of my blind friends for one reason or another...

    My mom when she was in her 30s had a sudden drop in her vision and she needed surgery, and she was legally blind for a while. I just hope that doesn't happen to me. :P I've been a little paranoid ever since she told me about it, since my eyes have been pretty much like hers when I was growing up. I think one of my eyes is weaker than the other and it's definitely less able to handle excess light than the other. It was my left eye but I can only tell really when it's super bright. (I'm pretty SURE it's my left eye)

    Ha, well that's one way to look at it. Do you play an instrument? I play guitar and so does my buddy. He's really good and records all his stuff in Audacity (yeah he doesn't synthesize music like us). Maybe you could hook up your midis to a keyboard and work from there? That would be pretty rad lol. I always wanted to learn how to do that.
    Hiiii :3 I'm doing pretty good, I have spring break next week and I'm excited for that even though I have no idea what I'll do :p How about you?
    Well people who are totally blind play it pretty well so I think you should be right on.

    Ah, okay. I have a friend who's kind of like that. He doesn't really "have anything" so to speak but his eyes just suck really badly :p I know people who range from legally blind to not even being light perceptive so yeah, wide ranging scale there lol! And here I am, whining about my problems and I can drive with glasses *punts self*

    I think I know what you're talking about, something like FL Studio? I don't know if he'll know anything about that stuff because he doesn't synthesize his stuff. I do but I don't go outside anvil since I usually just try to lay out the notes so I can transfer them to LSDJ or insert it into a GBA rom lol (although that's a lot less common these days).
    Honestly what would help most is someone with experience with the pokemon games playing my game, or a blind person playing it (although I got plenty of them playing it already lol!) OR BOTH LOL. All my stuff is written in Game maker because I have a shoddy choice in languages preference for it.

    Anyways, sounds like you are at least visually impaired, uh, if you don't mind me asking, how intense is it? Obviously you're not fully blind like my best friend but it sounds like you have some issues. Sometimes I use a screen reader because my eyes hate the cold and light, and, well, in winter you get a lot of that if the sun is shining lol. I have terrible depth perception without my glasses too. Honestly though calling me "visually impaired" is like saying someone who stubbed their toe needs to call the ambulance though lol

    Don't worry! You'll get the hang of it eventually. I didn't start until I was 19 lol. And braillemon was my first big project. GM is good for teaching the basics but I heard it's not really that accessible, so if you're 100% relying on a screen reader, well that's no good. I started with Java, I prefer languages that follow a similar syntax myself.

    I'm sure there are some applications to suit your musical needs at least. I'll ask my buddy when he's online (he's busy being all introverted right now lol). I actually made an audio tutorial on how to use LSDJ but I'm not sure how good it is LOL

    If you want I can send the next release (which will have saving) to you when I get it out. :) It goes up to right before Mt. Moon.
    Hey, just noticed your post in the braillemon thread a few days ago, I don't usually update here since there's very little traction for the project here (makes me cry a little inside) but if you're interested in seeing more updates there is a thread on Audiogames.net where I regularly update stuff.

    Anyways if you have any ideas you're more than welcome to hit them on by; I'm always open to more ideas. If you're wondering, I test releases with my friend who is completely blind. He's also a programmer who has helped develop some of the stuff for the project as well, and he'll be helping me implement cool things like braille in it too. Another friend helped me develop the sound so that it's better for blind people to use (he's also blind). The people on audiogames.net also help with a lot of input and it's very helpful, just in case you're interested in developing stuff for that too!
    Oh don't worry, there's a bunch of us. ;) Not to mention a few Twitch Plays Pokemon characters.

    I'm doing well! I just got done with a whole bunch of A&D stuff I've been working on. @_@; Other than that though, I can't complain! How've you been doing? :)
    Oh no, it's okay! n_n;

    It is a staff-only perk. Right now the staff/hstaff is having a collaboration. So most of us are displayed as pokemon, with our avatars coordinated as such. I'm glad you asked though! I'd hate for people to get confused. ><;
    Haha, yeah it is :P It's my real name, which I don't like so that's why I don't use it online XD
    Oh, not at all, haha. I'm pretty sure I put my Skype username on my profile XD
    I know what you mean! I lurked GameFAQs as well mainly because of the walkthroughs :P Tumblr has a bunch of weirdos like PC so it's a nice place too XD I agree with you, PC is by far the friendliest community I've been active in and it's nice to feel like you belong :)
    Ah, haha, sometimes I sign up for forums and lurk, but I've missed being in an active forum so here I am :D I'm also quite shy in real life, but our internet selves tend to be different :P And it's understandable. I'd expect everyone to have a life outside of PC and not spending time 24/7 on here like I do ;____;
