  • Coincidentally, no. I get paid by square yardage, which is generally better. However, this job was too small for that, so my minimum charge applies (for instance, I made $500 on Friday alone, on top of $180 Thursday and $150 last Tuesday). It was a $75 job as a result, which was almost a waste of time for the amount of labor that was done. I'm not in a position where I can turn down work. Service trades can suck like that sometimes. At least I have larger jobs later this week.
Yes, that's what "bueno" translates as ('Good' or 'Well' depending on the context).

Mmm, that's nice to hear. I've been working somewhat steadily again, though I wasn't too fond of today's job: a stupid little basement hallway where they tore up old tile and we had to cover up parts where they left it because it had minor chips in it. It took us three hours to do what should've been an hour job because of all the little crap we had to do to prep things. It mostly sucked because we were blindsided by it without any info about what we had to do beforehand. Otherwise, I'm doing well.
Huh. I've never seen Pacific Rim. I guess that's another movie in my list.

You seem like a guy who has a lot of work to do, and a lot of projects going on. Was Alien Poverty your first fic?
Movies, unlike video games, need to have an exciting storyline that isn't too unexpected or too predictable. In video games, the lack of an original story can be compensated by gameplay and the choices we make in the game. Movies are just one show. There's no two ways around it. That's why I feel that movies these days need a lot of plotting, as there is so much competition.
Dark Knight Rises, huh? I remember watching it in a theatre not so long ago. It was a nice movie, but I feel that the storyline was so linear. I mean, it was like "what should have happened, happened."
Ex-stalker? You can't have retired already, surely? D=

Well, that's up to you, haha. read all my fics But yes, it should be decently explained, I feel. In general though Pokémon Colosseum is not so unlike the main games as it is, unlike many other spinoffs. For one, battles work the same way (at least, with 3rd gen mechanics, so like RSE =p). The notable differences are that each battle was a double battle, so two Pokémon out at any one time. (In the game, anyway. ;p) So that should be already familiar to you.

The other major point is that the game had something called Snagging. Instead of catching wild Pokémon (hard because the game's setting is mostly desert/a ruined region!), in Colosseum you steal Pokémon from trainers via special Poké balls! You do this heroically though because these Pokémon you stole are 'Shadow Pokémon', Pokémon turned bad basically. Then you make them good again with the power of friendship (they sure love fighting for you yay battles).

Naturally that mechanic was heavily tied into the game's plot. And that should be also not so out-of-the-blue as the fic goes too. I hope, anyway. And that concludes my ramble.

How goes in rl, btw? Any luck in finding something else? :< And what about writing too, of any sort?
I think that may be why so many movies nowadays get bad reviews. It's because they simply copy the original idea since that worked out so well. But it is hard to keep getting new ideas for movies, right? As long as they modify the plot and work out the scenes well.

What was this latest superhero movie you watched?
    Hi I am a stalker

It was finished! Two years back, and sitting near the top of the Fanfiction Archive section. (Also the BBS of course, that's just me reposting bits as I do minor edits. Which I'm also updating on PC as well.

(I suppose it does help to have played Colosseum, but I included info at the end of each chapter explaining how the fic relates to the game so you'd only miss out on some jokes I suppose.)
I see. Seems cool. I think the newer movies attracting audience thing will keep happening, as newer movies follow newer trends and style, like having less stale elements and making every moment action, romance or comedy. I feel they depend less on a storyline and focus more on the elements of the movie.
Like I said, it was years ago. I'm not even sure if the forum history/index goes back that far or if the fanfic was even completed.
That was like 2007/2008, so yeah, it's WELL before your time. I don't remember the full details of the plot, but I think I remember that Astinus used to write some pretty dark stuff. Then again, it's been years since I've really been active here, so I may be mistaken...

Bobandbill used to be pretty active too. I was reading his "Retelling of Pokémon Colosseum" fic for a while there. I wasn't overly impressed by it, though... But, the game itself as hard to really novelize, I think.
I guess the movie lives up to the name of DreamWorks. How To Train Your Dragon seems much better in comparison, right? It's hard to find animated movies that are actually interesting, huh?
