  • Of course. If that's what you want to do, then feel free to do just that. All I'm asking is that you don't call it "ROM Hacking". It just so happens that a number of people have very strong opinions on the definition of "ROM Hacking" and you're likely to piss one off with statements like those.
Um, no. You're not. Sorry to be so blunt but if you've never used Tile Molester (or TilEd, TLP, etc.), there's a good chance that you're not a ROM hacker. Now, that's not to say that using Tile Molester is the end-all, be-all characteristic that separates ROM hackers from tool users. I'm sure there are some ROM hackers who have never used a tile editor and I'm also sure there are plenty of people who have used a tile editor who aren't ROM hackers. It's just that if you have never used a tile editor, then you're probably relying on game-specific tools to edit graphics, which is not hacking. If you want to make edits with game-specific tools, that's fine. Just don't call yourself a ROM hacker. It annoys us ROM hackers.
My advise would be to use Tile Molester. It's a solid program that is used by a lot of ROM hackers so you have a greater chance of it working. If you want, I can try to find some addresses for you.
Well, I've never used NSE for anything but OverWorlds, but a sure-fire, straightforward way is by using a tool like TileMolester. If you load the palette of the tileset you wish to edit (in this case the sand-palette, I believe?) then scroll through the entire thing (doesn't take as long as you'd think) you'll eventually find where all the animations are. I believe the first one is the default flower, so if you see something that resembles that, you're there. And from there you can edit most/all of the animations for tiles, like the water tile, various flowers of the game, etc. So (more of) my advice is to just use TileMolester- but I'm kinda biased, so if someone can help you out with NSE it's probably easier.
Not that I'm stalking VMs or anything, but I just happened to come across this VM more recently than your post in the thread.

Regardless as to whether or not this has been answered, I'd like to say that you should just get a copy of the ROM and try on it. It'd be a heck of a lot faster for you.
For stuff like tile inserting or sprite stuff it's easier to just try it first (just not on your good ROM, in case something awful happens :P)

    Just my advice.
The only other thing that I can think of is that you exported the tileset (along with the .pal file), changed the palette in AdvanceMap, and then tried to import the tileset. If you did that, you should either change the palette back to whatever it was when you exported the tileset or just export the tileset again and insert your tiles a second time. If you didn't do that, then I don't know what to do. :\

Very old news. I think I've already said this to you twice, but I'll say it again: You have to put in a text string at 0x1F8820.
I deleted them, so you have to add them back in. It's very easy, just click on the events tab (on A-Map) and simply add them.

EDIT: Oh, you meant Pokemon Center? Just copy the scripts from a clean Emerald rom...

To be honest, you should only be using that patch if you already know what to do.
