Remakes for the 3rd gen have been hinted in X Y, and by Mega Blaziken event itself. We might be getting them soon enough. Anyways, I think it would be kinda cool! Hoenn was actually pretty cool and fun (lots of water routes with Tentacools... not so much). Looking forward to Mega Swampert!
