I've had pretty much the exact same experience with Pokemon all the way through, and I love it so. 8D I dunno if it was my first Gameboy game ever, but it was close. *Nods some*
And sure, I guess it's true that comparing things is human... But it'd be nice if there wasn't quite so much hate without reason. XD Besides, I really don't think the newest 2 generations of Pokemon designs are that bad. Sure, some are scary... But way back in Generation 1, Exeggutor's sprite scared small children. o__o

On a board where you see "This generation sucks!" and "I hate Pokemon yet I still play it!" all over the place, it's nice to see posts that seem to demonstrate a love for the games here and there. n.n Not to mention you seem to put a lot of heart into your writing, so that helps with the effect.
