I'm interested :). As far as the starter goes, it's gotta be cyndaquil for me. Cyndaquil has always been one of my favorite starters, and cyndaquil is definitely my favorite of the lot here.

Dratini. It just takes so many of those things to get a dragonite and I've only seen two in the wild.

I didn't even know he was rare at first. For the longest time I had him on one of the tiles next to that little patch of land that you don't even have to surf to get to and could just fish there and get him. I reset the tiles at some point, but by that point I already had one and didn't see any...

You may have heard it called the tweaking glitch before, but basically, there was a bug in loading maps in DP and it meant that in certain situations maps had a chance not to load, allowing you to go into the black void that is outside maps and access places you're not supposed to be able to get...

It should stay shiny when it evolves because evolution doesn't change it's Personality values. Additionally, the original Trainer values are saved with the pokemon, so even a traded one will stay shiny after an evolution. If yours didn't, I don't know what to tell you... Maybe you just thought...

Well, at the very least you should be able to go to the move deleter if you ever decide you don't want your venusaur to be an HM slave. Just think what might have happened if you didn't have a pokemon that new strength.
