  • Having recently made my most complex animation ever, I'm afraid to post it anywhere for fear that I'll see issues with it and won't be able to fix it. D: Fortunately for me though, I'm not much of a perfectionist-- I can live and let be with some things, although in the case of tiles I do start to get irritated by them after a while, much to the chagrin of Uranium's developer.

Huh, don't bet on it... having already been proven your skill, it's like as not that they'll come requesting you finish the tileset so they can make their whole game in it. Or come asking you for tutorials. Or something; it really does depend on how good you are.

Yeah, better wait it out until you're absolutely certain you can bypass their rabid "4 examples per topic k >:|" rule. Or just wait until you feel good about posting them. If you're looking for crit, there's always the discussion thread... although tbh, there's better places you could go.
Well since you're an FFT fan, I'm sure you don't dislike FFXII, which is my favorite obsession of all time. <3 Just about every FF game really, but FFXII the most.

Really nice creation there. I suck at hacks and the like unless it's creating a story for one, which I did once, but it seems the person who's making the hack hasn't logged on in months, so I quit making the story. It was good though. D:

Glad to see you like FFT. I'm in love with the story of FFT but unfortunately I suck, lol. FFXII is more me, although I still love the system of FFT. FFTA was good, because it's important to the overall impact of Ivalice in a way, and I love FFTA2 and FFXII:RW because they're both so connected to FFXII. FFT is nice in a way that it and FFXII are the only two FF games, putting Vagrant Story aside, that have made a good political story. Not sure about VS, since I've never been able to play it. =\

Today I defeated Hell Wyrm in FFXII in one of my normal games I've been doing for fun. You should join the FF fan club here, or better yet, www.fftogether.com, which is a really cool site that I'm a Global Moderator and a News Manager on! ^_^ We need a good person who can give info on Vagrant Story, as none of the active members there have much info on it. :)

    I ranted.
I really like your Akihiko Yoshida drawing of Ashley from Vagrant Story, if I'm not mistake, that's him. If not, it's definitely from FFTactics. ^_^
I never bothered learning to program; it seemed like more trouble that it was worth, when it all got down to it. And yeah, it feels good to see your sprites in action, doesn't it? But then, you start to notice small errors in your work and then you feel like you've gotta fix it, check it and fix it again... it's a harsh cycle.

Expect to get accosted by game developers soon (especially if you do fangame-friendly sprites, like Pokemon-style overworlds and fakes); there are never enough spriters to go around, and most of 'em that aren't busy are hooked on some project or other.

Oh, it's very cool! Took me like three minutes to download and set up, and once I got it working it was pretty easy to figure out! It can't hurt to try it out; it's a lot more user-friendly than Paint.
If those were the quicker ones, I wonder what your serious art must be like? I commend you for trying tiles-- I'm, eh, allergic to tilesets (and overworlds too) but I often end up doing them since nobody else will. :/

I'm trying out GraphicsGale, which is cool since it can do animations (but can't save 'em D|).

Do you work for a fangame?
Hey man. You're a pretty good spriter. That's cool; I'm sort of a spriter too. I noticed you went out of your way to make a tutorial for Haz, and am I right in assuming you made your avatar too? Way cool.

...Say, I was wondering. What program do you use to sprite? I'm getting a bit tired of using Paint and was wondering if you had any reccommendations for programs geared specifically towards spriting. :3
You guys can already tell im somewhat good at this, eh? :p

But yeah, sure. Here's your C+C:

Hmm.. A quick glance tells me that it has too much colors.. And some even look too alike. I also see thin lines separating the tree segments with only light shadows under them. This and the similar colors give the tree a somewhat flat feel.

I'd suggest to remove the number of colors, say like 5 for the green and 2 for the core, add some contrast to them, and add darker, varied shadows under the branch segments. Also, having both sides of the tree being different would be far more interesting than making a half and then rotating it.. Different variations of the same type of tree would be awesome as well, to add diversity.
At least that's what I'd do.

Im in the process of making my very first pokemon tiles ever, btw.
I already have a pokemon center, 2 trees, some random OWs, and roofsets. Once I get enough I'll go make a thread. :)
Hey you seem like you know a lot about spriteing. So i have a question what do you think of my new tree?I spent nearly a half an hour on it.
hey thank's i will from now on but... i can't show the really old ones because i no longer have them...
What Fox♠ said. Pixel Art needs more people like you. :D Can't wait to see your sprites.

btw, if you want to reply to a visitor message, you can click "View Conversation" at the bottom of the message, and it lets you reply to them specifically.
    Lol yeah

Im trying to get to 15 posts only with C&C, to get a fresh start here.

Hopefully then I should start posting all my stuff.
I am actually thrilled that a level headed member like yourself has joined and started posting in Pixel Art.
