Now you're missing the point. Duh, likes/dislikes are subjective. The problem is that many people assume custom, (and therefore "good") graphics = good game, which encourages hacks to be half-ass in every other department. The community as a whole needs a new mindset... Which then leads into the issue about why this particular community is slowing down, but it's not really relevant at the moment.

First off, I don't think that good graphics = bad game, or vice versa. That would be a ridiculous mindset. You'd be surprised to find that many people will put up with a mediocre game just because it's flashy, however -- it's not just "noobs". Just by how a game looks (and sometimes even how the thread looks) can influence someone to play a game or not; the idea being that games that look better must have more effort put into them, and therefore must be better. People will often see it through, even if the game doesn't live up to their expectations, all the while HOPING that the game will improve and be as good as they initially thought.

Well, I'm sure modding keeps you pretty busy. I can see if there's some way to revive my old hard drive, or find the backup USB for HT, or maybe I'll just revisit the whole idea. Or maybe I'll actually write the papers I'm supposed to be working on for summer class. Decisions, decisions...

It's all right, the friend's doing well now. I've been keeping busy here--I'm working for my college's IT department over the summer. I haven't done much hacking either; all of my HT files went down with the hard drive... (do you have that ROM sitting around somewhere?). I'm thinking about getting back into it, either with an HT remake or a minihack idea I've been batting around... we'll see.

Saw you been having troubles with Sappy. I'm running Windows 7 64-bit, and what I did was download the hacked 2006 version of Sappy, and edit the XML file a bit. See, whoever wrote the XML file for the song IDs used accented és where Poké or Pokémon was written, and miscapitalized the ROM names in the headers. Both of those things are the main cause behind crashes when loading ROMs, at least in that version.

I'd provide the fixed XML file, but methinks you know how to make some grammatical changes to a text file of all things :P.

Well, there is a version that works with Vista + Emerald, actually. I had it on my old computer but sadly the screen burned out and can never be fixed :(

Could I ask you a favor? Sappy (any version) doesn't work on my computer, since I'm missing an .ocx file apparently and Megaupload, the only site that had it, is down.

Yeah, I'm not going anywhere - I was just trying out a new style of title and that's what I came up with XD
