Calason can be nice. He is just isn't the nicest (if you look at the history, this is the man who would bring fire mages around to burn and pillage ships lol). Look at him as a stern individual that wants to succeed. He is ambitious and takes his job seriously, which in turn makes him difficult to deal with. They could be friendly assuming Ladamer does his job well and demonstrates commitment to the cause. I am not sure if you ever watched Game of Thrones but a good idea of the relationship they could have would be the relationship between Stannis and Davos in the second season in that Ladamer could be his right hand man that he trusts because Ladamer is very loyal and effective in his dealings. Does that make sense? So it's not out, just the relationship would need to be modified a bit. A minor change really.
Raelus is prosperous, but many of it has been directed to militaristic tendencies. So in fact, they would have fast and powerful ships to travel. So getting to the meeting wouldn't be a problem xD. Raelus isn't peaceful, that is what I meant to say earlier. I apologize since I am not always the easiest to understand. The culture section in the first post of the OOC should at least give you a better feel for Raelus. If you have any more questions or concerns, feel free to ask. Raelus is primarily my creation so I should be able to answer them. If not, I'll probably make something up ;D
