  • Regarding my Haiku Contest, I think I'm going to make major revisions to the way voting is conducted next time or change things so that entries are to be made one week and voting to be conducted the next week.
For a new-ish mod, yes. Very well, in fact. You're generally prompt and know how to conduct yourself (and I say that without the least bit of sarcasm). I have dealt with mean mods before and, trust me, you aren't one of them.
I'm just talking from my own experience as a mod on PokeBeach, which frankly isn't that good of a site (especially for fanfics). I held the position for two years and was respected by my own little group of friends, but I was basically forced to quit because the higher-ups were making demands I couldn't meet (one of the admins even threatened to de-mod me anyways if I didn't do what he said). But, I have no intention of getting involved with modship again; it was just too many headaches by the time I quit PB. I can offer a lot of advice, but that's all it is: advice. You shouldn't make judgments based just on my input (though it looks like a lot of people are basically saying what I am anyways in your thread).
I don't think so... But, that's me. If you think you're too harsh, you still have the ability to edit your own posts, right? (Sorry, I'm not trying to tell you how to do your job. In fact, I feel bad for lecturing you at all.)
That's why I said you could be slightly more assertive, but just to where you're making a point and not scaring the living daylights out of people.
Gotcha. At least you don't have a totally clean slate to work from. You have a set of rules that could be slightly revised if you (and the rest of the staff) deem it necessary. Personally, I think the 1,000 word minimum would help improve fanfic quality a little (or at least promote better quality). It worked wonders on a forum I modded on when it was instituted (at least until the idiot who replaced me scrapped it). It doesn't even have to be strictly enforced, so long as people look like they're trying to write passages longer then a few short paragraphs. But then, that's just my insight.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! No, you're fine. If you have any problem (even remotely), it's just lack of assertiveness when you actually have to close threads. But then, it's probably for the best that you're not overly assertive because assertiveness often comes across as just being mean.

I, on the other hand, kind of feel like I suffer from a case of "open mouth, insert foot." Basically, I sometimes think I make a singificant post with a blatant point, and then later end up seeing someone post a response that seems to demean my comment. I then feel like I shouldn't have said anything at all since it makes less sense to me that I said what I did after I see someone contradict me. >.>
    Also BAM
I find it very unsettling that we aren't officially friends yet.

    Lets change that. :)
No, I haven't. But, looking over what other people have said in the thread, I'm getting the impression that I'm kind of the odd-man-out.
Oh i see. Well good luck when they come! :>

I've got finals coming here too, and just like you, I don't think they'll be too much of a problem. But I better make sure just in-case, and so I'm studying. :P

    Oh, lucky you having a sleep-over. I'm jealous, I want a weird sleep-over! >_<
Hey, if you wanted to try your luck at RPing, check out the RP I've put up recently, the Compass of Anemos; I know you're an able writer, so inviting you in was an opportunity I couldn't simply pass up!
Regrettably, I've put forth what I thought were my best ideas in your one thread, and I think I've struck a nerve with some people. If I come up with anything significant, I'll pass it onto you.
