  • Yay fun topic! Although hard for me to choose!
You are now a Gym Leader of a Water-type Gym, make a team of Water-type Pokémon (minimum number 2, maximum 5). Explain why having these particular Pokémon in your team.
    Region: Kalos
Pokemon: Barbaracle, Clawitzer, Kingdra, Lanturn, Lapras
Firstly i chose Kalos b/c it has a large amount of pokes in it but i stuck with the coastal Kalos pokedex mostly.
For pokemon i refused to use starters as they are not suited for a gym leader in my mind but i did use the 2 new water type pokes introduced in the gen as it is fitting for a gym leader to have the new pokemon introduced. Lanturn and kingdra are for support, rain dance, thunder, swift swim ability, and all that to keep the challenger from winning easily and Lapras as most of us know can beat most challengers in battle. Overall this team would cover a large amount of people battling me plus its kinda perfect for Kalos.

All right, I like these kinds of things.

This will be harder than most of what I have tried simply because there are just too many Pokemon to use. Hmm...

I like to make gyms with themes so I will be patterning mine with the theme "Summer" in mind.

Ludicolo, Milotic, Simipour, Female Jellicent, and Dewgong.

Lanturn, Swampert, Cloyster, Tentacruel and Mega Slowbro if Possible, if not forget Slowbro.

Lanturn for Volt Absorb, Swampert to stop Electric attacks, Cloyster for defense and Skill Link attacks and Tentacruel for bulk and to stop Grass attacks. Mega Slowbro will be my strongest Pokemon and will use his bulk to take hits then destroy you with strong special attacks.

    I guess that's a good team.

I believe Ludicolo and Milotic don't belong to Unova region nor Milotic and Jellicent to Kalos Pokedex. *cold sweat drops*

  • Oops, I'm sorry. I failed to read that part where it said to only choose from one regional dex or something.

Well, then, I'm going with Kalos.

    Greninja, Gyarados, M-Slowbro, Kingdra, Ludicolo

Ok I guess I have no gym but that would be the team I would have if I could have any Water Pokemon in my gym.

Current topic: Which Water-type Pokémon is a must in your team and why? (Competitive or in-game team).

This is actually a hard one because most of my casual play teams usually had the resident Water starters as my team's Water-type, but if I could choose from non-starter Water Pokemon I'd pick Azumarill (who got better with every generation) or Golduck (it's usually a reliable one for casual main story play and often did me well).

If i can find a lanturn i will use a lanturn! Haha but yes lanturn is probably my fav to use in game on my team because of its typing, coverage, cuteness and bulkiness. In competitive i currently use mega gyarados and he is something to fight with quite an amazing and powerful mega!

For a while, I would say it was Gyarados.

Gyarados has a very nice appearance, I feel; it was meant to be intimidating first and foremost, which it is, and its ability--Intimidate--represents that quite well. Aside from Intimidate, it also has access to Moxie, and when it comes to battling, this ability could be quite helpful.

With Moxie, we get our Attack stat raised by one stage every time we take down and opponent, making it more easy to take another down next turn. Gyarados also has access to some valuable moves in its arsenal, such as Dragon Dance, Waterfall, and Stone Edge, making this Pokémon even higher in the ranks of competitive.

Actually, this question is difficult one for me as well. Let's start with in-game party first. Usually defensively reliable ones like Swampert, Quagsire, Ludicolo, Pelipper, Empoleon, Feraligatr, Gastrodon and Jellicent or speedy attackers like Floatzel and Greninja are part of my in-game team.

When it comes to competitive plays, it was one of the following three : Starmie, Swampert or Gyarados and nowadays with the addition of Azumarill and Greninja.

This is more like a mini game, rather than a real topic. :P

    Read this first
    Object: Create a Water-type move.
    - It can not be overpower, unless it's a signature move of a legendary Pokémon like Origin Pulse.
    - Variation of non-Water type moves are welcomed.
    - Have fun with the secondary effects; be creative. Dual type moves like Flying Press are welcomed.

  • Object: Create a Water-type move

Tsunami: OHKO move with 30% accuracy
and 5PP like every other OHKO move.

Rain Storm: Its a Water/Electric Special move with 100 % chance of hitting. It has 140 power and 5PP. Oh and it has a 10% chance of paralyzing. The only Pokemon that can learn it is Chinchou/Lanturn and Tynamo and its evolutions. Just don't use it on Pokemon weak to both Water and Electric.

  • Current Objective: Create a new Water-Type Pokemon move.

I thought of doing a move that works off of the time system. The move is called Tide and will have 85% accuracy and varying power depending on the time of day, much like how tides work. Twice a day will be high tide and will have 120 power and twice a day will be low tide at 30 power. It will be a special type move.

    Name: Tidal Storm/
    Accuracy: 30/50 in Rain
    Power: OHKO
    PP: 5
    Special Move
The Pokemon is wisked away by a wave and looses consciousness underwater.

Best i could come up with without it having to be a tsunami or reef haha

Topic: We have quite a number of Water-type specialist, Misty, Wallace (Champion in Em), Juan, Wake, Marlon and Siebold, who is even an Elite Four member from the Kalos region. Do we need more Water-type specialist(s) in the future? Why?

I know we've had like a Water specialist in every game but I think the reason behind it is because Water is the most common type, and it'll always be expanding just like water itself. I do want to see more Water Elite Four members like Siebold, given we've mostly had Gym Leaders when it came to this type.

I agree. Water-type being as one of the most common type out there, needs to have more specialists out there and an Elite Four to be more exact, as Water-type is not only common but versatile and powerful too. There is never "too much water", in my opinion.

P.S. Sorry for the pun and I know that water is referring the sea. Hahaha. Ah and great siggy/profile pic there.

Hikari makes a really good point with water being the most common type. As water itself houses many species of aquatic life, the amount of new pokemon being created as the series goes on will increase. Next to types like normal and grass, they're one of the most common types amongst new pokemon and thus we'll need new specialists to keep up with it all. Seeing as it's becoming a tradition in the series to have them in every generation, then why not continue it?

Also if you guys were to want another water specialist then what sort of person would you create? I'm personally surprised they haven't created a sailor water specialist yet. I know it's already a common trainer class but seeing an E4 or gym leader sailor would be really cool. Same thing goes for an elite fisherman who uses stuff like the Gyarados he caught at the lake at the other day and so on. :]
