Name: Alistair "Ice-Man" Halberd
Age: 24
Appearance
History: Alistair was born the son to a small noble family somewhere in the northern region. His family ruled a small, snow covered village near Snow Grotto. Because it was a small town, Alistair did not have many children to play with. Instead of play and adventure, his younger days were filled with studying, training, and solitude. Originally he was like any other little boy: Easily excited, adventurous, and ambitious to an unnatural level. But his father frowned upon this sort of behavior. In a way, his childhood was taken from him almost forcefully. Alistair was forced into training almost everyday and every night, his father determined to make him a successful noble, and perhaps even the king at some point. As the years dragged on he became stronger and stronger. The exponential amount of training he was put through gave him almost superhuman strength, and his father recognized it. Although Alistair had a surprising amount of intelligence, he was born to be a soldier. The nobleman gifted his son with the Buster Blade, a massive sword that could only be wielded by a man of considerable strength. Alistair was amazed with the blade. He took it out to the sparring grounds immediately and began to train with it. He hefted it with little difficulty at the age of twenty.
After two years of even more training, the small village was attacked by a mighty dragon. The dragon began to burn everything he could, leaving the peasants to retreat within the walls of the castle. The castle guards, as few as they were, were led by Alistair and the legendary Buster Blade. They took tactical positions throughout the castle to deal with the dragon. Each soldier was capable of fighting a normal dragon on their own, but this was no normal dragon. The dragon threw down the door and stormed in, finding nothing in the main hall. He began to scour the castle, defeating each guard with very little difficulty. Soon Alistair was the only one left to defend the peasants and the royal family. The dragon took a human form to deal with the young nobleman. The two began to fight, Alistair fighting harder than most would consider possible to defend his people. The dragon, who had been holding back, grew tired of the combat and back-handed him with all of his strength, sending the lad into the nearby stone wall. Assuming Alistair was dead, the dragon proceeded to slaughter everyone else.
Alistair was unconscious instead of dead. The lad awoke to find everyone dead, from the oldest man to a squalling infant. His rage was unmatched throughout the world in that moment. He left the town and went into the nearby forest, cutting down tree after tree. He managed to calm down after leveling the entire forest. ashamed of his lack of control. He went into Snow Grotto and began mercenary work. After a while he had heard news of the Dragon Slayers on his twenty fourth birthday. He set out immediately in search of this "Asliana" and her Dragon Slayers.
Personality: Alistair is, in contrast to the rest of his fellow slayers, cold and cynical. Normally he can be seen standing at the back of the party with his arms crossed. He will talk often enough. He'll speak his mind more times than not. Although his ideas are generally well-thought out and clever, he can be a bit of an ass about it. Alistair's ego is quite large, but then again, who has the balls to tell you you're an a$$hole when you can swing a sword that weighs twice as much as them as you can swing a fifty pound sword? Generally he makes himself keep a friendly face on to get along with his companions, no matter how much he may dislike them in all reality. He can't have a schism in the group. It would cause too many problems in functionality. Still, he is quite cold and will brush off most attempts at personal friendships. Alistair had a hard time getting close to people, and always has since his family dispersed. His biggest fear is being hurt by somebody he loves again. His loyalty to the Dragon Slayers is all he needs. He'll defend the group to the bitter end, no matter how bitter, and will fight the strongest dragon tooth and nail, no matter the size of the teeth and nails. His bravery is one of his more prominent features. He will throw away caution if he has the opportunity to finish things like a badass.
Alistair is very intelligent. His training as a young boy has left him with a hunger for knowledge, and a lust for power. Knowledge of ancient civilizations, stories battles with fearsome dragons, and regales of glorious journeys fill his head, each one of them memorized to the very punctuation. Despite his cold demeanor, he yearns to be known as a hero. "Alistair the Dragon Slayer." Many would consider him an anti-hero, but he does what he does because there is truly good in his heart. He just has a hard time expressing it. Alistair has a great deal of honor. He won't strike down a defenseless target, no matter the importance. He always lets ladies have first strike in combat, priority in entering buildings, choosing the first bite of a meal, etc.. He's polite, no matter how rude it comes out as...If that makes any sense.
Powers/Abilities: Alistair has extraordinary skill with his weapons, using every single mechanic of each blade to its fullest extent. He has training in each sort of weapon, but only keeps two on him at all time. His physical strength seems to be much greater than that of an average man's, and his stamina in impressive as well. His magic, however, is virtually non-existent. The only bit of magic he can use is directed towards fortifying his body to take blows. Alistair has great endurance, and has survived a lot more than the normal human should be able to. When angered, he flies into a fit of rage. His strength then increases exponentially but he becomes uncontrollable, more of a liability than an asset unless you can direct his anger.
Weapon: Alistair is a true swordsman. His physical strength is what earned him a spot among the dragon slayers. He lacks in almost any magic ability. Both of his main weapons are heavy and, therefore, cannot be swung nearly as fast as most weapons. Still, he uses them as a normal warrior would use a regular battle axe or greatsword.
The Buster Blade: Alistair's main blade, sheathed to the right of his back with a slant. A fearsome sword, more for crushing power, but has great slicing capability. Around 6 feet long and a foot wide. Capable of blocking dragon fire. With a few well placed strikes, it can incapacitate an average dragon.
Dragon Slayer: Alistair's secondary weapon, sheathed to the left of his back with a slant. A powerful axe, able to cut through a tree trunk. Much heavier than your average battle axe. Can almost incapacitate an average dragon with one swing.
Other: The unofficial "Weapons Master" of the Dragon Slayers. Alistair is a tank. He can take a pretty powerful blow and shrug it off in mere moments.
