Kerri's only home--that she can remember-- is, and always will be, Fallarbor Town in the Hoenn region. Her mother was always protective and constantly worried about her child's health, what with the high possibility of ash falling from the sky like snow, being blown from Mt. Chimney not too far off. Her father was a bit more carefree, which caused them to argue quite a bit, and in fact lived elsewhere before Kerri was born. However, since they had settled into Fallarbor Town so comfortably, and her father found a decent job for good enough income, they did not leave. Although, since the conditions were unpredictable sometimes here, Kerri ended up traveling a good ways just to go to school, which was the time she had dread the most up until her early high school days.
The younger version of Kerri was actually clingy to her parents, and would hide behind them and avoid socialization, since she was far too shy and timid to push herself to do it. Of course, this began to attract different forms of bullying as her years of school continued. She wanted a way to fix it, or to make it all go away, but didn't know how. A year before graduation from middle school, one bully just wouldn't leave her alone, and she began to tear up a bit and even quiver. Would she start crying more? Unsure to say, but this provoked even more chances by the bully. However, instead of just running away, Kerri suddenly became infuriated, and punched straight out, one inch away from the bully. A loud sound rang throughout the hallway, and it seemed everything fell silent for a moment afterwards. The locker actually got a decent dent in it from the impact. The person looked like they'd almost faint, and scrambled away pathetically. One boy noticed her hidden fighting spirit and potential through the exchange, and asked her to join a club he was in, and said he'd teach her a few things. Confused and still bewildered by the events, she agreed, and would go once she got more information... and got her hand treated.
Nearing graduation, Kerri's personality already began to change once she was getting into the club activities. They'd borrow the gym for self-defense training, and would be coached by the gym teacher with extra tips as well. Kerri admired the boy who had invited her, since she had thought of it as him indirectly helping her to change. The club would also continue into high school, though the group she knew would most likely separate since clubs of that nature most likely already existed. This also meant that she could become rivals with the boy who had invited her, but they both welcomed it as a fun possible challenge. Another new chapter awaited her in high school.
Even with Kerri's changed personality, she had some doubts with how tough it seemed, but just sometimes thinking of the boy and how disappointed he'd be if she saw her discouraged was enough to stay strong and act the way she liked. No one would ever look down on Kerri again, or at the very least bother her without her doing something about it to get them off her back.
She managed a couple of close friends in her days of high school by the time she was fifteen, and was also well-known to be pretty well at her energetic boxing style of fighting. A tournament was to take place between the sporting clubs, with the boy she met in middle school being on an opposing team. Gradually, she began to realize that the 'admiration' became more like her being a secret admirer instead, and it felt distracting. A week before the tournament was going to take place, she managed to scrounge up extra confidence and willpower to try and tell him. Despite that, Kerri had never felt so nervous before, at least that she could recall. He had completely 'turned her down', and bluntly at that. Although she thought it saddened her, Kerri showed it didn't bother her, and just declared that she would surpass the teacher in the tournament and make him proud. Even that didn't seem to get a good response; if anything it was more like she got a look from a total stranger. Though telling herself it didn't bother her wasn't enough, because at least once or twice in that week, she found herself alone... crying. She hated it and couldn't understand, but chose to ignore it and forced herself to get it together as she continued more training than usual to be ready. It seemed even before her 'confession' they had most likely drifted apart to unrepairable lengths without her even noticing.
The day of the tournament had finally come, and Kerri was psyching herself up strongly, and was about to head to the gym where all others had gathered, where she heard a very discouraging exchange between the boy and a couple of girls. Were they groupies or something? Weird. In any case, they 'worriedly' spoke of Kerri, and told him to be careful facing her because of the rumors of her fierce nature and whatnot, and he insulted her by not even acknowledging that she would be a decent fight; quite the opposite. He laughed with them as they headed off to the gym. Kerri's fighting spirit was tarnished, but she had no time to pull herself together. The tournament began, and they both got through to the final round, where they would square off. Kerri was upset, so she thought that would be good enough to put up a fight and get her act together. And yet, she became conflicted and was unsure if she could do well enough to knock that newly developed ego out of his face. Kerri hated that she couldn't get rid of this nauseous feeling, and reluctantly moved to the center of the gym for it to begin....
It was a disaster. Kerri wasn't able to keep her focus at all and use her best techniques, and was bested in about ten minutes after just trying to avoid him as he came at her. He remarked of his disappointment out loud and gave her a look of what almost seemed like disgust as he left her there.
Kerri made sure to leave the area in a hurry; the incredible feeling of discouragement that she thought would never haunt her again weighed down on her shoulders heavily. Upon opening her locker to get her things, a random slip of paper slid out and caught her attention.
"What a nasty loss. It's a shame, but we still know of your incredible potential. We can provide better training to get you on track correctly..."
The message continued telling her directions of where to go, and meet up if she was interested. Even though the message was anonymous, she wanted to redeem herself in a hurry and get even stronger since she may have actually still been considered weak. However, the meeting had no positive outcome for Kerri. Scientists from the E.N.T.O.U.R.A.G.E project had shown themselves, and as little bits of information were mentioned, at least offering her more power, it didn't seem right. Somehow it seemed too shady with how they acted. Her gut feeling told her to refuse... however, she had no choice in the matter, and Kerri was easily overtaken by their pokemon and was defenseless as she was knocked unconscious.
A whole year of giving the scientists as much trouble as possible for what they had done to her was the only way to vent her seemingly never-ending anger; for the present-time, and the events that happened a year ago when she was fifteen. Any hope for escaping wasn't wasted though, as actually one of the newer pokemorphs was going to devise a plan while they were on the ship. While it may not have gone as smoothly, it seems some managed to escape, including her. Now she has been washed up on this unknown island for a day or so, and has yet to meet up with the others. Only a matter of time...
