    Heather Rockford
    Age 17 | Female

    Appearance
Heather stands at a height of about 5'7". Her body build is very slender, save for the fact that her breasts are that of a very perky C-cup. In general she sports a very fair skin complexion, not being tan, but at the same time not so pale that it looks as if she's avoided the sunlight for years on end. Heather sports sandy-blonde hair which she generally keeps on the short side, reaching down to just the base of her neck. It is rather messy in appearance, and definitely more on the boyish-side in terms of style. Her eyes are a dark, chocolate-brown color.

In terms of style, Heather tends to dress more in a rebellious style. When not in her uniform, she tends to wear rather worn, denim jeans and tank tops. The jeans usually sport various tears and rips in them, while the tank tops are usually dark in color, such as various reds and purples and black. Around her waist, regardless of if she wears jeans or not is a white leather, studded belt and some form of plaid or black leather skirt. This style of dress continues into her school uniform, choosing to more or less wear the male's uniform instead, with a plaid skirt around her waist as usual. She usually leaves several buttons on it undone and wears the tie in a rather sloppy fashion. One constant about Heather's apparel, is the fact she always wears a black choker around her neck and a black leather hat on her head.

    Personality
Heather is quiet and a loner by nature. She does not make it a priority in life to ever make an attempt to truly get to know those around her, and likewise she does not see the importance in letting those around her get to know her. Because of her seemingly cold and distant nature, many people around her have come to see Heather as nothing more than a punk or a thug. While that sort of thinking is not entirely correct, Heather often sees no point in trying to correct them on it and is fine with people in general being afraid of her. Heather's number one priority in life is herself. Her actions tend to reflect this, as many of the choices she makes in life are usually for herself, regardless of how it may effect those around her. She tends to shrug off any moral coaching and preaching she may receive as a result of these choices, often seeing it as little more than a bother.

    History
Heather comes from what most would consider to be a broken family. Her father had abandoned both she and her mother when Heather was only about five or six years old. Her mother had a strong history of alcoholic abuse, so it could easily be said that Heather more or less spent her childhood relying on herself to stay alive. Because of this, she developed a strong sense of independence at a young age.

For a long time in her life, Heather was usually forced to do without. Her clothes were often dirty and in bad condition. Her mother often spent any free money she had on booze and drugs, often pushing Heather's needs and wants off to the side. Many kids her own age did not seem to understand the reasoning for Heather's often unkempt and shabby appearance. As a result, Heather was often made fun of, not really understanding why everyone insisted on constantly giving the girl a hard time and making her feel aware of her less than desirable life she lived. It was only a matter of time before the girl snapped, and retaliated. She became somewhat of a bully in her elementary and middle school career. She would often get into a fight with anyone that so much as gave her a wrong look or a comment she did not care for. Her grades during this time were also absolutely abysmal.

Watching her mother as a child, one could easily say that Heather lacked a strong, moral compass that one would need while growing up. She quickly developed a habit of stealing anything that she needed or wanted. Needless to say, it was only a matter of time before teachers and other authoritarian figures became concerned about her actions, appearance, and constant trouble she found herself in. Eventually, the girl's mother would be investigated, and it was during this time that Heather was taken from her home and placed to live with her aunt and uncle in Beati.

Despite being placed in a much more positive environment, Heather's behavior and choices did not seem to change much for the better. In fact, one could say they easily got worse. Not long after starting high school, Heather found herself falling into a rather tough gang of thugs who often cut school, shoplifted, drank on a regular basis, and vandalized parks and other such properties in the middle of the night. For the first time in her life, Heather honestly found a group of people who actually made her feel accepted, and she easily made the choice to join them in such activities. The girl could easily say that she was truly happy, or so she thought.

It would finally catch up to her during her junior year. She and her group of so-called friends had cut school as usual, and made their way to a local liquor store in order to lift some booze for a hardcore party they had planned to attend later that night. The group had decided to send in Heather to acquire their drinks. Thinking little of it, Heather went into the store and began to grab various bottles of hard liquor as usual. However, this would be the day that Heather would unfortunately be caught. It turned out that the clerk had been keeping an eye out on these kids, as he and several others in the city had seen them often loitering about and making trouble. Heather tried to weasel her way out of it, even going as far as to point out her friends. However, as the police escorted her from the shop, she had found that these so-called friends of hers had abandoned her without so much as a second thought. The thought of her only true links of friendship in life being broken so easily devastated Heather.

Her aunt and uncle were absolutely mortified as the girl was taken down to the police station and received her first mugshots and had her fingerprints put on file. She was even sent to court. However rather than place Heather in a juvenile correction facility, the judge issued the girl a different sort of punishment. She soon found herself enlisted in the New Dawn Program, as a means to rehabilitate the troubled youth.

  • I have finally been able to get some stuff done in writing!
Sorry for the delay again guys, I've not been removing reservations out of fairness considering my own situation. This being said, I'll be chasing up the rest of you soon if I don't see at least some posts in here.

Edit: My SU is nearly finished. It ended up morphing into a similar but altogether different character to the one I played in the original Connections. I'm too lazy to add any real CSS.

And Shazam! I mean.. done. took long enough.

    Name: Karter Devven
    Nicknames (if any): Kurt
    Gender: male
    Age (13-19): 17

Appearance: He has long, black hair that reaches the bottom of his neck, hazel eyes, and sharp eyebrows. He is about 6'0 and weighs 125 lbs. He also has bulky arms and a tall torso. He often wears a white t-shirt to show off his muscles. He also wears baggy blue jeans, and redrunning shoes. He also is always wearing his sunglasses. They never leave his face unless he is in a dark room, or sleeping.

Personality: By many, Karter is considered a cocky prick, and they aren't completely wrong. His sunglasses are his ego. If someone is being rude to him or his friends, and his sunglasses are on, there is a flow of smart remarks and retorts. However, there is a select few who see his friendly, fun loving side, where he isn't a complete jerk. This is a select few, although. He still has a fan base, so if someone he dislikes goes to the same party or public function, they are 'asked' to leave.

But his outside ego doesn't follow him everywhere. At home, he is solitary and doesn't talk much. He is curt to his parents and is often in his room, sulking or bored, thinking of something, bad, to do. When an outside force calls upon him, he is out the door before telling his parents where he is going. When lonely or scared, he will often act in a rude matter to 'protect' himself.

History: He was born into what most people would call a bad family. His dad was almost always gone on work and his mother was usually busy and did a bad job of teaching him right from wrong. Being an only child, Karter had very little domestic interaction, and came out to be unfriendly. When he went to school at age five, he was rude and a loner, having no friends was hard on him and he took it out on everyone.

When he was ten, he was finally beginning to socialize, and became a pro at it. He became popular by eleven, and became a whole new person, at least outside of home (Note around this time is when he got his sunglasses). Inside he was still arguing with his parents, and was increasingly angry about it. Then, it peaked. At thirteen, he vandalized a building belonging to his fathers company, enraging his father, Karter was sent to a juvenile detention center. He got off lightly due to his mother pleading innocence.

Over the years, Karter did lots of crimes, from minor ones life shop-lifting a pack of gum, to major things like vandalizing civic buildings. Although he had multiple offenses, the most he got was a week in jail, much to the anger of his father, and the relief of his mother. Although Karter was a sweet talker, he still only had two girlfriends, and remains a lonely person, on the inside. While browsing the internet, his mother found a program for troubled youths called 'New Dawn', seeing this as an opportunity to better her child's ways, she immediately enrolled Karter, and now, Karter awaits his punishment for his wrongdoings.

  • And so, my summer holidays begin. What better way to kick it off than with an SU.

    Murph_zps1ffbed1d.png

"Well, well. This certainly became interesting."

    Name: Murphy Edgson
    Nicknames: "Murph", formerly "Murky"
    Gender: Male
    Age: 17

    Appearance:

Murphy stands at 6'7", and weighs about 120 lbs. His build initially appears rather skinny for one his age and height, but he does in fact sport a considerable amount of muscle in both his upper and lower body. This allows him to run at above average speeds, and often surprise attackers with the strength of his punches. He wears dark red colored contact lenses on his normally brown eyes, and has dyed his initially blond hair a bright white. His eyebrows are thin, but they are still the murky shade of blond his hair used to be. (Pun totally intended) His facial features are sharp, and he's often seen with either a gentle smile or a sly grin on his face.

His attire is always fairly simple. Murphy wears a simple buttoned shirt, usually colored white but sometimes found in other colors, coupled with a badly arranged tie, which also varies in size and color. Over this, he wears his signature coat: it is similar to a trench coat, only it is colored dark blue, sports a green hood at the top, and is closed using four straps on his left hand side. The coat also sports several pockets; two on the outside, but six on the inside, for a total of eight pockets. His pants are a simple pair of black linens, coupled with a pair of white and black trainers.

    Personality:

Murphy refers to himself as a 'Connoisseur of all things interesting'. That is, of course, all things subjectively interesting. He almost instinctively finds himself fascinated by anything which he considers interesting, usually something out of the ordinary or new, or simply something thrilling. His definition of the word 'interesting' is much broader than most standard ones. He strives to discover and learn about these things, whether they be objects, stories, or even something as simple as words. Once he's learned all that he can about one thing, he hungrily moves on to the next, making sure to become an expert on whatever it may be. His thirst for knowledge about the things which fascinate him often drive him to do exaggerated things that would not be considered proper conduct. When it comes to interesting things, nothing can deter Murphy from acquiring the knowledge he desires, even the law.

But above all, the things which fascinate Murphy the most are human beings. And yes, he refers to human beings as things, because that is what they are to him: objects. Despite his fascination with the different kinds of human beings existent in this world, he still sees them as nothing more than something for him to become the connoisseur of. However, Murphy is aware that human beings are intricate creatures, and must be handled delicately. He works subtly when trying to find out about other people, opting to befriend them and talk to them, slowly learning more and more without scaring them off. Though, he has resorted to stalking and other such unsightly actions in the past; something he is thankful he never got caught for.

Obviously, this is a part of Murphy that nobody is aware of. In public, he puts on a demi-facade; he will still express his interest in things other than people, and is very open about it, though he will never divulge exactly why they interest him. Around normal people that he has no particular interest in, Murphy is usually calm and collected, often found with a small smile on his face. His hair and eyes can sometimes help to discourage people to talk to him, but those who have gotten to know him believe that he is a respectful and happy teenager. Which, in part, he is. When he needs to be.

Murphy is adaptable, able to act differently according to who he needs to interact with. Some would consider it a form of acting, but Murphy's adaptability to people comes as naturally as his real personality. Though, that real personality is undefined in the sea of characteristics he chooses to use. In a way, he has complete control over his personality, in that he is able to tailor his own emotions and actions towards the person he's interested in learning about, in a way that will allow him to learn more.

    History:

Murphy's abnormal levels of fascination manifested at a young age. Up until that point he'd had a normal childhood; his parents were average middle-class citizens of Beati making good money, and he had made a circle of friends to play with up until age six. That was when it changed. Murphy had always been a rather energetic child, often getting excited over nothing. But his excitement became concentrated on only what he found to be interesting. He began to shut out all of his friends and peers in an effort to learn and understand his interests better. He made himself isolated and attempted to focus only on his various researches, only speaking to people when necessary and when it involved said researches. His grades naturally started to decline as well; he had been a straight-A student before, but now he was so focused on the things that interested him that he no longer cared about any of that.

No matter how much his teachers and parents tried to convince him otherwise, Murphy refused to change his ways. By the end of primary school, all of his friends and peers had deserted him, labeling him a weirdo and a recluse. It was also during this time that Murphy began to realize his greatest mistake. He took a look at the humans around him, and began to realize how diverse they were. Each one was different in their own right, so many of them interesting. Even random strangers captured his attention. The fact that Beati was such a multicultural place only helped to further fuel his interest.

By this point, however, it was too late. His peers still rejected him, leaving him a loner when he finally desired human contact. Trying to initiate contact with strangers was unsuccessful. That all changed, however, when he entered Helen's Street Community College. Here, surrounded by new people from primary schools all over Beati, Murphy had the chance to make many new interesting friends.

Unfortunately, his social skills had been undermined due to years of isolation, so he did not have much luck at first. This was when he learned to be adaptable. He quickly realized that in order to get closer to the individuals that fascinated him without frightening them with his hyperactive demeanor, he needed to change. Drastically. The first step was to create something of a 'default mode', in which he toned down his excitement and remained calm and collected. It took months to master, but once he had finally settled down, people noticed the change and began to feel more at ease around him. After this, he chose one target, and tried to befriend her again, this time much more friendly and calm. The attempt was finally a success, and he just kept going from there.

Using a method similar to how he created 'default mode', Murphy was subsequently able to adapt himself to all kinds of personalities. He took on many different traits through a process of emulating them through observation, and then by growing accustomed to having them and assimilating them into his own persona. Before long, he had become part of all kinds of groups which usually had no association with one another. He met many interesting people, but... it was not enough.

When he learned everything he could about his fellow pupils (sometimes through more shady methods), he resorted to learning about criminals. It had become one of his fascinations, and he was determined to learn everything he could about local criminals and their ways. One day, a friend of Murphy's known as Conner had handed him a packet of marijuana, while in a high state. Murphy, unsure of what to do with it, decided to take advantage of the opportunity. He did not take any for himself. Weed did not interest him at all. Instead, he opted to sell the marijuana off to local druggies, thus opening the gate into his beloved criminal world. Murphy saved up money and bought the rest of Conner's weed supply, while Conner was in another state of trance. Thus, he managed to get them at a ridiculously low price. He then proceeded to sell these drugs for a much higher price, cashing in thousands of pounds after selling it all off.

As it happened, Conner's grandfather owned a field in which he grew the drug. This was Conner and his father's source of drugs, and after contact was established, soon became Murphy's as well. The old man was impressed by the profits Murphy had made off of the last batch, and offered to become business partners with him. In return for half of the profits, the old man would provide Murphy with an endless supply of marijuana grown from the field. Not caring about the money at all, the deal was made and Murphy became an official drug dealer.

This continued on for years. Murphy adopted the pseudonym 'Murky' when dealing with buyers, and his notoriety in what passed for a criminal underground in Beati grew. In the end, he became notorious enough that word reached his parents somehow. The two, already having grown suspicious at the boy's weekly night time escapades, decided to investigate until they managed to find Murphy's stash of drugs.

    Needless to say, chaos ensued.

There was a major fight between Conner's father and Murphy's, which almost escalated until an all-out fistfight. In the end, though, the two agreed it would be far better for both parties not to get the police involved, as both Conner's family and Murphy would be punished. They forbade Murphy from ever speaking with Conner again, and chose to put the whole thing behind them. Though after that, they became much stricter with Murphy, and still are.

Murphy was very upset. Now, his connection to the criminal world that he had spent so long building up had been severed. He was no longer able to study the local criminals, since his mother had forced him to dye his hair white and start wearing contacts. This was both punishment, and a guarantee that none of his contacts could recognize him anymore. He needed something else interesting, and fast, but could not find anything. After months of this torturous lack of research material, Murphy stumbled across the New Dawn program. He was not particularly enthralled by the program itself, but rather by the assumption that new, interesting people might be participating. After all, it was for 'troubled' youths. Troubled people tended to be fairly interesting, in Murphy's experience. His mother, realizing that her own son was indeed a troubled child, agreed very easily when he brought it up and signed him in.

Other: On a side note, Murph is currently learning Japanese (though he's also very bad at it right now), and one of his most passionate fascinations, bar humans, is pizza. Whenever he sees it, he starts drooling like a dog.

  • @Tyler - It's a temporary image haha. It's just that the eyes really caught what I imagined her as looking like. Maybe I'll just remove the image and leave the description?

Edit: In hindsight, I think you were a bit off with five. She looks like she's in her teens which fits the bill of her description nicely enough. You of course can imagine her looking however you wish, which I think is certainly a bonus of text-based RPs.

  • I've always wanted to try it in an RP, see what happens. Plus the anime this is based off of did it quite well. In any case, it'll be fun to see what kinds of insanity you have in store for us gimme & Nauje. Murphy will probably love it as much as me. :3

  • Tyler, I suggest watching the anime. It is by no means needed to enjoy the RP but I think you'll find you enjoy it -it gets pretty M-rated at a few points haha. I remember the last connections inspired like half the players to watch the series (Nauje included) xD

Xilfer the more you talk the more I think Murphy is an exaggerated you :P

  • @tyler - If anything it might at least give you an idea of some of the horrible things we may set upon your character xD

I'm going to give it another day or two and then I'll be submitting the IC.
