    Battlefields of Blood and Tears

The RP version of the fanfiction "50 States and Beyond"

    RP Rating: PG-16

This RP contains: Strong Language, Minor Sexual Themes, Human and Animal Violence, Mild Gore

    The World:
Pokemon is not a game – it never has been. Well, maybe the games released for the Gameboy, Advance, Xbox, Nintendo 64, DS, etc; but here, in the real world, Pokemon sometimes aren't considered the partners of humans. With over six hundred species of Pokemon, some being more dangerous than others, different conflicts have arisen.
The streets of every city, state, or country are infested by gangs or of Team Globus, the combined teams of Team Rocket, Team Galactic, Team Aqua, and Team Magma. With the strength of all five teams combined, Team Globus is responsible for many of the bank heists that have taken place across the world, is responsible for hosting many underground Pokemon matches; is responsible for selling Pokemon to many gangs, and is responsible for the deaths of thousands of Pokemon and humans alike.
But the acts of Team Globus haven't stopped the annual national and world-wide league battles hosted around the world. When people graduate high school, they are eligible to sign-up to receive a trainer ID. Since battling Pokemon without a trainer ID has become illegal around the world, many people try for this, but not many succeed (a study shown that only around 38% of those who sign-up received their IDs). Those that succeed usually travel around their nation, or the world, to collect badges. And when a trainer has a specific number of badges, they are eligible to enter into their nation's league.
Every year, though, there are three students within different high schools in different states that are chosen to get their trainer IDs early due to outstanding academic and simulation-battling scores. These three students, from each state, are allowed to choose one Pokemon from their S.P.B (School Pokemon Battle) team, and then they are allowed to travel the world. But these students face many different obstacles, whether good or bad, and it is up to them to change the course they take.

    The Plot:
Within your state, you are one of the three students chosen to get your trainer ID early. It is up to you whether or not you want to challenge different state gyms or just travel the world. But problems will plague your path – Team Globus being one – as well as love, betrayal, hate, sadness, grief, anger, and greed. Will you give in to the problems you have to face, or will you become a 'hero' and beat back your own emotions and Team Globus? You might want to think carefully about your answer…

For those who are interested in signing up, this plot currently takes place within the UNITED STATES.

    Rules:
    1. All PokeCommunity Rules apply
    2. Please be realistic.
    3. Swearing is allowed, but please keep it mild in the beginning please.
    4. Blood is allowed, but please keep it mild.
    5. You must be ACTIVE. Meaning, you must post once every TWO DAYS.
    6. This roleplay will require people who know how to write and drive a plot. So, please, each post should have a minimum of three paragraphs, five sentences each.
    7. NO legendary sighting unless I say so!
    8. Each state, nation, or country has different Pokemon, so I'll tell you, if you choose to capture Pokemon as you travel the world, what is located where.
    9. Pokemon will not grow with levels.
    10. Have fun.

    Full Name: Rebecca L. Johnson
    Gender: Female
    Age: 16
    Height: 5'3
    Weight: 125 lbs
Appearance: Rebecca has long curly reddish blonde hair and large stunning sapphire blue eyes. Her skin is a dark tan from all her time spent in the sun and the bridge of her nose is dotted with freckles. She dresses in a dark green tank top paired with black skinny jeans and dark green ballet flats. She wears a dark green beret on her head along with a pair of black sunglasses.
Personality: Rebecca despite her tough appearance is one of the sweetest and most kind girls anyone can meet. She tries her best in everything she does and is one of the most concentrated kids in her class. Surprisingly outside of anything involving academics Rebecca has been known to be careless which has endangered her life more times than she would like to admit. She has no friends because of her status as a nerd in school and at first doesn't seem to keen on talking to people but once she gets to know someone she'll be fiercely protective of them.
History: Born and raised in Washington D.C Rebecca's parents raised her with the standards of always trying your best and never giving up. By the age of 12 she had learned everything she thought she needed to know about Pokemon and had decided when she grows up she want's to be a Pokemon researcher. When she started going to her high school Rebecca thought that she'd finally make some friends but instead was constantly bullied for being smart. For a short while she ended up almost giving up because of the bullying but in the end made the choice to keep trying and do well. When she was chosen to receive her Trainer ID early her parents couldn't have been more proud and she accepted it with honor hoping to travel the world to start studying Pokemon and making herself known as a starting Pokemon Researcher.

    Name: Christopher R. Jacobson (Zero)
    Age: 17
    Gender: Male
    Height: 6'2"
    Weight: 165 lbs.
Physical Appearance: Zero is a fairly tall (about 6'2") boy that never seems able to get enough sun. His skin is quite pale, but not too much. Although he doesn't way much for a boy his age, he still has some muscle on him. He's grown to be pretty nimble and flexible, because he liked to climb trees when he was young to think about stuff. His eyes look like the bluest of oceans, and his hair black like the darkest of nights. His hair drops down to about mid-back length in the back and is really short in the front. He never lets it get in his eyes. It is always messy, and despite his mom's best attempts, he keeps it that way. His face is always clean, there are no blemishes on it, and he makes sure to keep his teeth white to contrast his hair. He loves blue and black, and always wears the same navy jacket over his black tee. He wears blue and black striped athletic shorts and black flip flops at all times, even when he knows he's going to be hiking.

Personality: His friends call him Zero because of his innate ability to zero in on an opponents weakness. He's very quiet, always thinking. When he talks, he can seem rather harsh at times, but that's only because he hates people not thinking ahead, and gets onto them when he feels they should have seen something coming. For this reason, he didn't have many friends early on in his life, but the ones he did have completely understood him and quickly came to think like him.
Zero himself is very smart. With a GPA of just shy of 4.5, he was the smartest kid in his school. He didn't have friends because he was the "typical nerd", he didn't have friends because of how cold and mean he seemed.

History: Zero's family is from Knoxville, one of the four largest cities in Tennessee. The only two things Zero cares about in the world are sports games (just from his favorite college, UT) and Pokemon. He has always felt that morons didn't deserve Pokemon, that they would just get hurt or killed by their own stupidity. He, on the other hand, needed Pokemon to protect the aforementioned morons from themselves. So, he enrolled in a Pokemon School at an early age, and quickly became the top of the class. Many of the students there were jealous of his smarts, a few of them tried to be his friends, only to be turned down due to their inability to think ahead far enough. However, there were a few of the students there that Zero liked, and they quickly became friends.
    GPA: 4.5
    State: Tennessee
    Town: Knoxville
Pokemon: Starmie (Orion), Houndoom (Blitz), Drifblim (Sentinel)

    Name: Raphael A. Newmeyer

    Age: 16

    Gender: Male

    Height: 6' 1"

    Weight: 140 lb

Physical Appearance: Raphael is fairly tall and lean. His eyes, which are rarely seen due to the glasses he wears, are a dull hazel. He wears his dark brown hair long, almost down to his eyes. He also sports a thin ponytail in the back. Whether or not his face is cleanly shaved usually depends on the day, so he will sometimes have stubble on his chin and cheeks. He usually sticks to black clothing, almost always wearing a black jacket over a black or gray tee. His pants are on the slimmer side, but not compressing. These too, are usually black, or at least a darker blue. His footwear is darker and casual.

Personality: Socially awkward would be a nice way to concisely summarize Raphael's disposition. He is prone to trailing off in sentences, often lost in thought. He slips on his words due to trying what he wants to say too fast, being the perfectionist that he is, he would bring the entire conversation to a halt just to correct his mistake. This causes his speech to sometimes be stammering. When spoken to, he usually doesn't respond right away, as he takes his time to fully understand what was said, and longer to formulate a response.

When not engaged in conversation, he is usually lost in his never ending river of though, anything he sees can inspire a rush of thoughts and ideas. Because of this, he usually doesn't actively pursuit conversation. Regardless, he always found education more important than friends, and he never saw school as a social place either. Because of these thoughts, he has many philosophies and principles he often humors himself with.

History: Raphael was conditioned into the way he was by his early life. He wasn't always one who saw school above all else, and he didn't always see companionship as such a petty matter. Once, he was what is considered to be normal. But that was soon to change, as his family was always moving around from state to state. Every year, he would leave his school, and friends. At first he resented it, but after year after year of pains from lost friends, he came to accept it. To avoid the pains of loss, he stopped receiving. To occupy time he would've spent with others, he replaced with school work. Eventually, the void that was devoid of social interaction was filled by books and knowledge.

It was only a matter of time before his parents became concerned with his lack of social development, and they feared that it was because of their constant movement. So, they sent him off to boarding school, in hopes that settlement would mend his inability to relate and interact with others.

Alas, the void was already filled. Raphael no longer found comfort in being with others. Not even seeing familiar faces for years on end could not inspire the boy he had used to be. So, with no family, and no desire to make friends, all that was left were two things: School and Pokemon. The problem was, he could not yet have a Pokemon, so he resolved that he would strive to become one of the honor students to receive an ID early. With such a goal being the only thing to occupy his time with, it came as no surprise that he came out second to none.

Sign-ups are now going to be closed, as I had edited in the first post. I will edit the OOC thread, located in the Lounge, with details on the accepted trainers. I will also edit details of each Chapter into the OOC thread as we go along.

We will begin the roleplay now! You may write in either first or third person. Try to be very creative in your posts – write down your character's thoughts, actions, what he/she senses (sight, smell, touch, hearing, and taste), etc.

    Prologue – Post 1
    March 2nd, 2011
1 week before you start your journey

"It's been two years since the infamous New York students known as Johanna Siren, Michael Crawley, Azi Durett, and Melanie Axel begin their journeys across the world as new trainers. But as they worked on their journey, jealously and evil tore the four friends apart.
One year ago, on February 25th, 2011, Michael Crawley was found dead and his friend, Johanna Siren, missing. Team Globus was blamed for the death of Michael and for the disappearance of Johanna. The story of these two trainers spread through the world. These trainers were known in the towns they appeared in – the two trainers that stood up against Team Globus and succeeded so many times over. But this time, it seemed they failed.

When their two friends were told of the news, all that was across their faces was guilt, sadness, and most of all – anger. Many people could remember, from many of the television interviews of Melanie and Azi, that their eyes would go glassy and soon tears would drip down their face.

The searches for Johanna Siren, led by her uncle, the gym leader of Phoenix, Arizona, have finally just ceased. 'If Jo wants to be found, she'll make herself clearly seen. But right now, she doesn't want to be found,' says Theodore Siren, Johanna's uncle. 'I'll worry about her, but I know she's alive and she'll come out eventually.'

So, congratulations to all the new students who were rewarded with their early trainer IDs. And please think about this report – Johanna and Michael have done some reckless acts, but they were smart adults. Let their actions help pave your path." Written by: Editor, New York Pokemon Trainer Weekly, Hiro Loki

Your AP Pokemon 101 teacher finishes reading the newspaper story before placing it back down on her desk. Finally, she or he (I don't care – make something up – be creative – just don't make the teacher a Pokemon) sighs and you see that he/she looks over to you through the corner of his/her eyes before turning back to the class.

"That ends our class for today, students," says the teacher. Finally, you gather up your books and head out of the room for your next class – S.P.B. Gym Class. Some students show reactions to you – either jeering or whistling in congratulations. (feel free to elaborate).

Finally, you reach the gym and before the class begins, you decide to spend a few moments with your Pokemon (but you don't know that you can only choose one to allow to come on the journey with you). End your post with a whistle sounding for all the students with their teams to go out to the gym…

Raphael only partially listened to the speech the teacher gave about the two students. Even with his ears half shut, Raphael already knew every word the teacher said. It's been the same story for the past two years. Raphael was at the time, in a mental rant.

Funny how the world works. He mentally commented. A lowly shopkeeper dies, and we continue with our lives. But God forbid that a kid dies. Get killed as a kid and people start building solid gold idols to you. Sure, it's sad. But the past is the past, and that's where it should stay. This isn't the first time Globus has killed someone, this isn't the first time someone has died, yet they decide to make it a worldwide crisis. And everyone knows that the only reason the media did that was because it would sell. They don't really care about the kids, they just want the money they can get for their corpses. I just love this country.

He continued in like fashion until the reading ended. He wasn't directly looking at the teacher, Raphael only seemed like his was facing front. When in actuality he was staring off into space. He didn't need the teacher's subtle sign to know that he was getting his ID. Everyone in the school knew.

In due time, the class ended. Raphael walked to his SPB Gym class. Using the exact same and tired route he always did. Having no friends or even having spoke more than three words to anyone at the school, save the teachers, students he passed made no attempt to congratulate him, only those who felt obliged by some imaginary code of what is and isn't "polite" even bothered with the effort of straining their vocal cords in a congratulatory tone. Where others, mainly those who had worked really hard to get their early ID, chose to shoot angry glares at Raphael.

Once in the gym, Raphael paid his daily visit to what were as close a thing to friends as he ever had, his Pokemon. Out came his well-rounded trio. First Donphan, then Electrode, then Bronzong. Raphael gazed upon his party. In the beginning, he had chose them simply because of the strategical advantages, but they had become so much more than tools of battle. There was the proud and bold Donphan, the energetic Electrode, and the calm Bronzong. Each had such distinct personalities. Each was an individual. They had given Raphael a new respect for the Pokemon population.

Before he could further reminisce in the past, a whistle sounded. With his team in tow, Raphael reported to the center of the gymnasium, where others and their wide assortments of teams already sat.

"Let their actions help pave your path."

The sentence echoed in Zero's head over and over. It filled him with rage. Was the meaning of these two peoples lives nothing more than to be used as a simple stepping stone for others? They were human beings, and the media, behind their sensitive, caring shell, was treating these trainers as nothing more than a chunk of cobblestone. Ridiculous.

As professor Ayala placed the newspaper back on his desk, Zero saw him glance at him from the corner of his eye. Zero already knew what was coming. He, being the most gifted student at Farragut High School, and one of the top three in the entire state, was going to be given his trainer ID early. The entire school knew it, they just didn't know when. Because of this, Zero was kept on his guard, paying close attention to every movement his professors were making. But this, this had to be it. Everybody knew the story of these four trainers, it was all over the news. What reason could Professor Ayala have to read this instead of teaching them valuable things about Pokemon, then if not to follow it with "On a happier note, we received a letter officially declaring Christopher a full-fledged trainer." But it never came. Soon, the bell rang. It was time for Zero's SPB Gym Class.

Zero quickly looked to the edge of the pool, in which Orion, his Starmie, patiently waited. Blitz the Houndoom was sitting near the water, carefully eying the small Meowths and Skitties that were running around the gym. Sentinel, Zero's Drifblim, was floating nearby, quietly as ever. Zero oftentimes wondered what went on in that Pokemon's mind. He was a great battler, but its like battling was all he lived for. When he wasn't battling, he wasn't doing anything.

Zero began walking towards Orion, and was bombarded with younger trainers saying "Is it true that you got your ID now? Let me see it!" and classmates saying "Aww man, I thought for sure you were going to get it in Ayala's class!" They didn't understand him. Hardly anybody did. He had about 10 good friends, and three of them weren't even humans.

"I thought I would find you here." a girl's voice drifted to him through the air, as Zero bent down to stroke his Starmie's back. Zero turned his head slightly to indicate he was listening. It was Chelsea, his girlfriend.

"Why don't we go out to eat tonight? We both know that the look Ayala gave you was all but a giveaway. I'm treating. Your choice." Chelsea finished.

"Yeah, I could use some pizza." a boy's voice on the other side answered for Zero.

"The choice isn't yours, Dannewitz. Let Chris decide." Chelsea told Zero's best friend.

"Come on. We all know that his favorite food is pizza. I'm just cutting out the middle man and saving him the bother. After all, he needs to save his voice for when he's out there in the real world, commanding his Pokemon around, right Snookie-poop?"

Zero always appreciated his friend's pet names he called him when Chelsea was around. With a grin, he jumped up. "Yeah, I think I'd be up for some pizza. But I'm paying for myself. Ain't nothing you can do either." he finished, turning to Chelsea.

"All right, I'll rally the troops." Dannewitz decided out loud. And like that, he was lost among the crowd.

Unfortunately, Dannewitz didn't have time to 'rally the troops', because a loud whistle, indicating the beginning of class, sounded from the center of the room. Human and Pokemon alike began searching for each other, and after five minutes or so, there was a nice large circle of trainers around the center of the gymnasium, with an equally nice circle of Pokemon right behind them. Zero sighed. Yet another pointless day of class. He wasn't learning anything anymore, it seemed like he knew everything that his teachers had to offer. At this point, and his friends agreed, it was time for him to move on, take the next step and venture into the real world. He was ready to walk the path that foolish trainers had paved for him.

    The start of a journey...

    -----

We all already knew this story, so it was pointless for it to be told. At least, it would be if it didn't make it completely obvious that I was going to be holding a brand new trainer ID soon. Who would have thought that me, of all people, would get my trainer ID early? I sure didn't, and nobody else in the school seemed to either. It came as a surprise to everyone.

"That ends our class for today, students," Came the voice of Mrs. Bodinska, my AP Pokemon 101 teacher. Everyone packed up their stuff before walking out the door. It was time for me to head to S.P.B. Gym Class.

As I walked through the halls I received mixed reactions. Some were angry and jealous glances in my direction, and others were words of congradulations. I ignored most of it, occasionally thanking the ones who congradulated me.

When I entered the gymnasium, I quickly walked over to my pokemon and greeted them. Corenid, the Krokorok, was standing close to me with that withdrawn, arrogant look he had. Midnight, the Liepard, was rubbing up against my leg as I pet her head. Lastly Cinder, the Quilava, was sitting next to me calmly, surveying the area as he has done every day since we've been friends.

I sat there as everyone entered the gymnasium, waiting for the bell to ring. As soon as it did, adrenaline began to course through my veins in anticipation for what was to come. I, Kris Kollyns, was about to become a pokemon trainer, early. I knew it was going to happen soon, maybe even now, and I knew what I was going to do when it happened - besides just do a little adventuring. I was going to completely obliterate Team Globus.

Vergil arrived to school and he was late for his first hour, as usual. He sprinted to class.

"Hello Mr.Sykitor I'm glad to see you joined us. Now please take your seat."

Vergil went to his seat all the way in the back of the class room. Prof.Groth started to read the newspaper. Vergil hated this class it was very boring, and he didn't like Prof.Groth. One thing he did like about the class though was the girl that sat next to him. She was very nice to Vergil.

    "Hi Vergil."
    "Hey Chelsei. How are you?"
    "I'm good. How are.."
    "Chelsei and Vergil. Be quiet!"

Prof. Groth yelled at them from across the room. This was also a normal thing. The two had many classes together and they always talked to eachother.

    "Sorry."

Vergil sat in class playing with his pencil just thinking to himself. I can't wait to get my trainer ID. I'm surprised they chose me. I mean my scores are high but, I know most teachers don't like me. Well whats it matter I'm getting my ID and then I can battle. Vergil then fell asleep and started snoring.

"Mr.Sykitor this isn't nap time. Now wake up."

Prof.Groth grabbed Vergil's desk and shook it violently to wake him up. Vergil woke up in a rage.

"Just what to do you think your doing?!"
"I'm simply trying to do my job. Now calm down or I will send you to the headmaster."

Vergil sat down and waited for the bell. It finally rung after what seemed hours. Vergil tried to hurry out of class but, Prof.Groth stopped him.

    "Vergil."
    "Yes?"
"Stop sleeping or I will fail you."
    "Ok."

Vergil just igonred the comment and continued to his second hour. It was S.P.B. gym class and his favirote class. On his way he let out his pokemon to talk to them.

"Well who is going to battle today?"
    "Lucar!"
    "Gro!"
    "Skarm!"

The pokemon sqqaubled about this for awhile before Vergil stopped them.

"Alright lets make this fair. I'll pick at random."

Vergil closed his eyes and pointed. He chose Grovyle.

    "Alrigh Grovyle lets go!"
    "Grovyle!"

Lucario and Skarmory returned to their pokeballs. Vergil heard the whistle in the gym. He and Grovyle rushed into the gym anticipating today's battles. The students booed as Vergil walked in. Except for Chelsei who cheered for him.

    Prologue – Post 2
    March 2nd, 2011
1 week before you start your journey

As usual, the S.P.B. Gym Class begins with you and your fellow teammates, as the gym class is split into two different teams (Red or Blue, or, Yellow and Green). You start to discuss who should go to battle first, but the plans are interrupted by one of your gym teachers. He/she walks up to the group, clearing his/her throat and turns to you, a note in his/her hand.

"You are needed in the main office," your gym teacher tells you and only you, before handing you the note. Warily, confused, and upset, you return your gym partners to their Pokeballs and hand them to your gym teacher to hold; however, your gym teacher tells you to take them with you. You don't know why (as they are usually not permitted out of the gym area) but you start down toward the main hallway anyway, thinking of why the main office would want you now of all times.

But when you arrive there, you are surprised to see your parents there, with large smiles on their faces standing alongside of the principal/headmaster. "Ah, good, you got the note," the principal/headmaster says to me. "Please, come to me." He says to you and your parents.

You head into his office and the principal/headmaster sits you down.

"I'm sure you're very aware of this by now, but I will say it again anyway – you have been chosen as one of the students to be allowed to receive their trainer IDs early in this state." Your principal/headmaster tells you as he takes a seat across from you and your parents. "It's a great honor, I must bet, but it surely is going to be a great deal of responsibility."

Finally, your principal/headmaster gestures to the Pokeballs in your hands. "You must be wondering why I asked you to bring your Pokemon gym team with you." He says. "Well, it's really easy to explain – you will pick one of your Pokemon to begin your journey with."

It seems your heart stops for a moment. You thought that you'd be taking all three.

"We can't allow you to take all three because then it would be unfair to the kids that have received their IDs before you. I know you've grown to become friends with your team, but you may only choose one. I'm sorry." He sighed. "You may take the rest of the day to think of your answer if you so choose so…"

You decide not to tell your answer, and when you're finally home from school, you are thinking about the choice you would want.

End your post with the Pokemon you will choose.

(OOC: Taking a crack at first person)

I sighed sitting in the school auditorium with my fellow classmates as we heard the news about the trainers that had recently been killed. When will all this stop I thought shaking my head sadly. "I hope everyone will take into account the dangers that Team Globus presents, to our graduating class once this year ends we all hope that you enter the world and be careful not to meet the same fate as those kids. To the lucky students receiving their Trainer ID's we all wish you luck on your journey's and pray that you stay safe. Those three students know who they are and an announcement will be made tomorrow with who they are. With these words I conclude our assembly students you may return to your classes." Principal Johanson said capturing everyone's attention with his speech. Standing as the rest of my classmates did I heard people whispering to each other.

"Tiffany, who do you think the three students are?" a girl with obviously dyed blonde hair whispered to the brown haired girl next to her.

"I'm not sure Hannah, but it's probably one of the school nerds. Little miss Perfect Rebbecca is most likely one of them" Tiffany whispered back glancing in my direction.

I ignored them and kept walking heading right AP Pokemon Care. One of my best classes next to AP Pokemon Research. Taking my seat at the front of the room I took out a sheet of notebook paper even though I already knew everything about the subject.

After the teams had been organized, randomly, as always, Raphael made his way to his assigned Green Team. He was in no real hurry to get there. He always chose to battle last anyways, no reason he should tire himself arguing with his classmates. Plus, he had grown tired of battling the kids in his class weeks ago. He had beaten every one of them at least once, and rarely lost, especially in the more recent years. The strategies and combinations his opponents used have become stale and predicable. However, Raphael did enjoy this battling time, mostly because it gave him the opportunity to hang out with his Pokemon companions.

However, his unenthusiastic walk was interrupted by his gym teacher. The familiar man that stood before Raphael has been left relatively unchanged by time. He was still of broad shoulders, square-faced, and bearded. In his hand he held a note, which he promptly presented to Raphael.

"You are wanted in the main office." said the gym teacher.

With an internal sigh, Raphael took the note and in exchange gave his Pokeballs.

"You'd do best to take those along." his gym teacher said in response.

Raphael shrugged his shoulders. Normally, Pokemon weren't allowed outside the gym. But he wasn't complaining. He pocketed the balls and proceeded through the winding halls and spiral stair to the headmaster's office.

Raphael opened the door and stepped in. Inside, to his awe, were his parents. This would mark the first time he saw them this year. They seemed pleased, though, for they were smiling at him. Raphael returned their smiles with a slight smirk, but Raphael was unsure as to whether he was actually happy or if he was just being kind.

His mother was the one to make the first move. She almost sprang upon Raphael with her arms wide. She made the usual greeting small talk: "It's so good to see you", "It's been so long", and other long worn out phrases. Raphael wrapped one arm around his mother. He decided that he was happy to see them. His father was soon to also give a likewise embrace.

Once the usual greeting were exchanged, Raphael's headmaster, an elderly woman who wore thin glasses and had snow white hair, gestured to a seat.

Both he and his parents now occupying a seat, the headmaster began to reveal the meeting was about despite the fact everyone already knew.

Her speech of how Raphael was getting an early ID went rather fast. And it was followed by the expected exclamations of pride from both of Raphael's parents.

"But Mr. Newmeyer." the headmistress continued after it was clear that the celebrations were over. "You are probably wondering why I had you bring your Pokemon. Well I am afraid to tell you this, but you may choose only one Pokemon to accompany you on your journeys. I expect your decision tomorrow, that is all." She closed, dismissing them from her office.

A weight fell into Raphael's heart. A cold shiver ran through him. He was unable to hear the words of condolence his parent's offered. He had been friends with his Pokemon for the longest time, and now he must abandon two of them? That thought occupied Raphael's mind the rest of the day.

In due time, the school day was done and it was time for the school dinner. Raphael, however, went to his dorm early. He had been thinking about his choice all day, but there was no way he could finalize it in the racket of the dining hall.

For who knows how many hours Raphael contemplated.

Surely Electrode's speed will aid me, but then there's Bronzong's defense, or Donphan's power, or..... no. This isn't about which Pokemon will benefit me best as a tool. The Pokemon that I choose has to be a true friend. One that I know will stick with me, thick and thin.

His mind shifted through the different personalities of his Pokemon and which he would get along with the most. For some reason, though, his thoughts always hovered back to Donpahn, like some sort of connection he had with it. Perhaps it was just because of the nostalgia Donphan brought. Donpahn is brave, bold, and feels it can conquer anything, much like a child going out into the world for the first time. Donphan is proud of his strengths and knows how to utilize them. It always gives one hundred and ten percent effort. Every time it falters, it wants nothing than to do better next time.

In a way, Donphan reminded Raphael a lot of his youth. He soon came to realize that Donphan completed him. He was the embodiment of his new self, where Donpahn is the old.

It took Raphael hours of careful choosing just to figure out he had no choice at all. He wouldn't make it a step without Donphan.

    The big decision

    -----

"Red team, that side of the gym! Blue team, that side!" Mr. V said as he motioned to opposite sides of the gym. I walked to the side Blue team was designated to go to.

"So who battles first?" One girl, Lilly, asked.

"Well, that's a no brainer." Another boy, Kyle, said as they all turned to me.

That's when Mr. V walked up to us, "Sorry, Kris can't go first." He turned to me, "You are needed in the main office." He handed me a note, which I grabbed cautiously. I recalled my pokemon and was about to hand them to Mr. V, but he refused them. "Take them with you." To be honest, I was confused, but I figured it might be for my ID, which gave me a new burst of joy. I ran out of the gymnasium and straight to the office, which took me less than a minute as I was a very fast runner.

When I reached the office, I found that my parents were waiting there. When I arrived, the Principal was the first to speak, "Ah, good, you got the note." He began, "Please, come here." My parents and I followed him into his office where we took a seat.

"I'm sure you're very aware of this by now, but I will say it again anyway – you have been chosen as one of the students to be allowed to receive their trainer IDs early in this state." He explained, "It's a great honor, but it is going to be a great deal of responsibility." He continued, "You must be wondering why I asked you to bring your Pokemon gym team with you." He incquired, "Well, it's really easy to explain – you will pick one of your Pokemon to begin your journey with."

Wait, did he say one? ONE? WHAAAAAAAAAAT?!

"We cannot allow you to take all three because it would be unfair to the students that have received their IDs before you. I know you've grown to become friends with your team, but you may only choose one. I'm sorry." He sighed. "You may take the rest of the day to think of your answer if you wish…"

I nodded. This was news to me, BIG news. It shocked me into silence, for the rest of the day. I went through the rest of the day, receiving a few comments about being unfocused. Well no duh.

I was silent the entire bus ride home, which wasn't too unusual for me. When I got home I went to my room and just layed on the bed. I was deep in thought about who I was going to choose. How could I leave any of them behind? HOW? It just wasn't possible. It just WASN'T FREAKING POSSIBLE.

I was plagued with this decision all day. I could hardly even eat when it came to dinner time. After that I returned to my room to make the decision.

I pulled out a Pokeball and clicked the button on its center, releasing the pokemon inside.

"Are you ready to go on an adventure...Cinder?"

1 week before you start your journey

You arrive in school the next day and head to the main office to talk to the principal/headmaster about your choice of your Pokemon. When you tell him/her of your decision, you head to your first class. And in the middle of your teacher speaking, the loudspeaker flickers on and a voice comes over; "Congratulations to –your name here- who was chosen as one of the three students from this state permitted to get their trainer ID early."

The next few classes are a blur to you, and finally you get to your S.P.B. Gym Class. Your gym teachers tell you and your teammates you will go up into the stands first. You do so, thinking what was going on…

    The big announcement

    -----

"I've chosen to have Cinder accompany me on my journey." I was in the Principal's office, telling him of my decision. He gave a nod of approval and I headed to my first class.

"Hello class. Today we'll-" Mr. Kigiston was cut off by the loudspeaker bursting into life.

"Congratulations to Kris Kollyns, who was chosen as one of the three students from this state permitted to get their trainer ID early." I gave a quiet sigh as this reminded me that I had to leave Midnight and Corenid here. That part really did stink, but I was looking forward to the rest of it. I sat through this class and the next two. They seemed to go by faster than usual, which was the opposite of what I had expected. Perhaps it was because my mind was wondering so much.

When I got to S.P.B. Gym Class, the gym teachers told us that my team and I would be the first to go into the stands. That was just a little odd, and I could only assume it had something to do with me...

Of course that was when I saw someone stand up, the youngest gym teacher, and the son of the New York gym leader. "Who's ready to see an intense Pokemon battle?!" He shouted excitedly. Everyone burst into cheers. I also cheered, but my version of a cheer is just me stoically going 'Woot.' "Who's ready for a battle between me and your fellow classmate Mr. Kollyns?!" Okay, there was a sudden akward silence. Of course, if there was to be an intense battle, it had to involve me. Freaking figures.

"Before Mr. Kollyns begins his journey, as a requirement, he must battle one of the faculty teachers. Mr. Kollyns, will you please go get your team?" I stood up and walked out of the stands, feeling the envious, jealous, and excited stares burning holes in my head.

As I grabbed my team I realized this was the final battle i'd have with my entire team, so I might as well make it count. I re-entered the gymnasium, ready for whatever this guy could throw at me.

Raphael had all of his business attended to. He had informed the headmistress of his choice of travelling partner, had gone through the nth round of praise for being chosen for an early trainer ID, and now was just ready to get through his last few days at school.

Yet, once more, Raphael's gym class was interrupted. He quickly found himself alone, all of the other students packed into the electronic bleachers. The battlefield where Pokemon battles normally take place was fully set. In the center of it all, stood the headmistress.

"Good evening, students." she begins. "You may be wondering what is going on.Well, today you'll have the privilege to see your fellow schoolmate Mr. Newmeyer battle one of the strongest IDed trainers in this school – me." she ends with an obviously dramatic pause.

Raphael freezes. Him? Battling the headmaster? Now? Mummers of disbelief echo throughout the crowd. The headmaster was not one for playing around, she was dead serious.

"Mr. Newmyer, go and fetch your team." she says, the calm tone somehow sounding threatening to Raphael's ears.

Not needing to be told twice, Raphael quickly gets his three Pokeballs. He looks down at them. He knows this will be their final fight.

"Let's make it one that counts." he whispers to his friends.

    Post 2:
Mr.Dunaway the gym teacher was sitting at the tabel by the entrance to the gym writing on his chart. He finally spoke.

"Alright as usual get into your teams, and decide who will go first."

Vergil went to the far left corner of the gym area where he met the rest of his teammates. All 8 of them together made the Grean Team. They were agurably the best, but many of them dislike Vergil. He could hear them whispering talking about him

"You know I can hear you guys right?"

The kids got quiet and then one boy spoke. Vergil disliked this kid very much. He had atrocious breath that smelt faintly, as Vergil could describe it, like a rotting corpse. He always had a awful smell as if he never showered, and his hair was long, dirty, and unkempt. His name was Kyle.

"Hey Vergil since your so great why don't you go first?"

Vergil could sense the hatred in his voice. The other team memebers all responed with a shouted yeah.

"Well fine. I've watched you all battle anyway, and if I must say your awful. People as bad as you shouldn't be allowed to battle."
"Vergil one day your going to lose and then you'll feel like we do when we battle you."
"Your right I will, but until then I'm the best here."

Vergil and Grovyle walked up to center of the gym ready to battle. They were going against Ansem of the Red Team. He was quite formidable his pokemon of choice was a Scrafty. Right when the battle was about to begin Mr.Dunaway ran up to Vergil. He handed Vergil a note. Vergil read it. Please excuse Vergil Sykitor to the office. Whoever wrote the note wrote heavy as the smell of ink was very strong on it still.

"Your needed in the office. You should know why."
    "Yes I do."

Vergil proceeded to hand him his pokeballs. When Mr.Dunaway interrupted him.

    "You'll be needing those."
    "Ok are you sure?"
    "Yes."

Vergil left and headed to office. The smell of mint was stuck in his nose from Mr.Dunaway talking to him. It seems he had a like for strong mint gum. Vergil walked into the office, and to his surprise he saw his parents there. They seemed eager. Vergil was puzzled by this. Then Headmaster Sindone came in. He was a short italian man. Very stout, but he had a muscle build. He had dark black slicked back hair and very tan skin.

"Hello Vergil it is good to see you again."

Vergil sat in a chair and put his legs up on the desk. Vergil's parents sat on either side of him. He smelled something strong. Like a cologne. It was coming from his dad. Whatever it was they were about to hear it had to be important. Vergil's dad never wore cologne unless it was for something important.

"Well as you know Vergil your getting your Trainer ID early."
"Yes I am well aware of this."
    "Good."

Headmaster Sindone took a deep inhale and exhaled slowly. Something bad was about to happen. Vergil's parents still remained very eager. He could hear their heavy breaths.

"I have some unfortunate news though."
    "What do you mean."
    "Well..."

Headmaster Sindone took another deep inhale, but this time he sighed. He then pointed to Vergil's pokeballs.

"I'm sorry to say this, but the reason we had you bring your pokeballs is because you can only take one pokemon."
    "Wait what?!"
"I know. I'm sure by now your very close to them, but if you had all three it would be unfair to the other trainers who recieved theirs IDs already."
    "Your kidding."
"Vergil I have never been more serious talking to you."

Vergil looked down to floor and sat in silence for a moment. There was no way he could only take one pokemon. He grew so close to them all.

    "I'm sorry."
    "I just want to leave."
"Fine your excused. Go home and take sometime to think. This is a very serious decision."

Vergil got up and went to his car. He got home before his parents. Who he was sure were talking to the headmaster. Vergil set his pokeballs down and stared at them with deep thought. He was on the brink of crying.

    "Well I guess.."

    Vergil started to sob slightly.

"..I guess I'll just have to pick at random."

Vergil closed his eyes and pointed to a pokeball. His choice was Grovyle.

"Well Grovyle it looks likes its gonna be you and me for awhile buddy."

Vergil sat on his bed looking down at Grovyle's pokeball weeping.

The first serious battle, part 1...

    -----

The gym teacher and I walked to opposite sides of the gymnasium. "Give me your all," He began as he tossed a pokeball into the air, "I'll take it easy on ya'."

One; no duh and two; if you really want to lose, then be my guest. That's what I thought, but all I said was "All right then. Let's get started." I watched as a Croconaw appeared on the side of the field opposite me. I tossed my own pokeball into the air and let out Midnight. "Start it off with Fury Swipes." Midnight dashed in towards the Croconaw and began to claw viciously at it. The Croconaw stumbled backwards a little before it began to glow. Yeah, you heard right, it freaking began to glow a shade of purple. Within a second it had transformed into its true form - a Zoroark.

"Crap, not good." I said at the same time as the gym teacher commanded the Zoroark to use Night Daze. It began to come at Midnight wildly, an aura of darkness surrounding it. It rammed Midnight, causing her to stumble backwards a bit.

"Hone Claws and then Foul Play!" Midnight began to sharpen her claws before she ran towards Zoroark, disappearing as she did so. She reappeared behind Zoroark and launched her attack. I knew that Zoroark had extremely high Attack, so Foul Play was even more effective.

"Night Daze again!" Zoroark twisted around, only to be confronted with thin air. Midnight had vanished and reappeared in front of me, a bright side about her being a Liepard. "Focus Blast!" Zoroark held his paws in a circle, creating a large bluish-white ball that it launched at Midnight.

"Dodge!" Midnight leaped into the air as the Focus Blast soared right by her. I stepped out of the way as it almost hit me, hitting the wall behind me instead. "Assist." Midnight started to dig under the ground - Dig, obviously - causing a little confusion on Zoroark's part.

"Come from the ceiling." As soon as I said that, Zoroark looked up. Wow, I was surprised that actually worked. The ground beneath Zoroark's feet began to crumble as Midnight launched herself out of it and attacked Zoroark. Zoroark was luanched high into the air, only to come back down with its claws ready for Foul Play.

"Assist." Come on, come on...yes! Midnight created a barrier that shielded her from Foul Play; Protect. Zoroark came down hard on the barrier, which shattered when Zoroark retreated a bit.

"Giga Impact!" Zoroark threw itself at Midnight with so much force she was launched across the gymnasium and slammed into the opposite wall; knocking her out.

"Return." Midnight disappeared in a ray of scarlet light, "Not bad for our last battle together..." I said in such a whisper I could barely hear myself. "Come on out, Cinder." Cinder appeared, as calm as always. For a moment he just sat and stared at Zoroark with an emotionless look.

"Okay, Cinder. Zoroark should be considerably weakened from battling Midnight, so let's try to finish this quickly. Flame Wheel." Cinder jumped into the air, began to spin and enveloped himself in a violent swirl of flames. He hurled himself at Zoroark with amazing speed, knocking Zoroark of its feet. It was currently immobile due to Giga Impact, so we had to make the most of it.

"Flame Wheel and Aerial Ace, at the same time." This time Cinder leaped into the air towards Zoroark, creating a gush of wind that was almost visible it was so strong. Then he let loose flames that engulfed him and the winds behind him. He created a mini explosion when he made contact with Zoroark, whom was apparently mobile again as it twisted and landed on its feet. It clutched its side as it landed, obviously close to fainting. "Finish it with Dig!" Cinder burrowed under the ground, disappearing for a few moments. When he burst forth from the ground, Zoroark was too weak to dodge. It fainted from the attack.

One pokemon down, two to go. I thought, before thinking, I hope it's not a problem that Cinder and Midnight destroyed the gymnasium floor when using Dig.
