Appearance: If you were to ask Anselme what he looked like, he would tell you he looked "regular". Indeed, he would not be wrong, but there is more to it than that. To elaborate; his height falls at an average Kalosian 5'9", and his weight being no less average at 145 lbs. His entire wardrobe choice consists almost entirely of jeans and T-shirts, with the occasional hoodie for the weather, although he will sometimes wear jackets or button-up shirts (albeit unbuttoned) given to him by his substantially-more-stylish brother if only to keep them from just taking up space. His outfit for the day is usually a random shirt and pair of pants taken from his closet without regards to color or condition. Presently, he is wearing a pair of worn navy-blue jeans marked with large holes over the knees that are frayed at the bottom of the pant-legs. His shirt is a mostly-plain black tee with a simple white stripe going down the right side. His sneakers are also black, but with red accents, and he also wears a simple brown-leather-strapped watch.
Anselme's build is unimpressive. Although he is by no means scrawny, he really lacks very much muscle or toning whatsoever. His skin tone is somewhat pale, which is understandable considering how most of his time is spent shut in at home. The skin itself lacks any callouses or scarring, but also fails to be especially smooth like a baby's. Anselme cares as much about his hair as he does the rest of his appearance, his hair being a short mess of chestnut brown, although he is forced to comb it nicely for his job at a nice hotel, something he feels is stupid considering his position as a janitor. For that same reason he keeps himself clean-shaven. His eyes are brown like his hair, but a duller brown that is actually more mud-like than chestnut. They have fairly-sized bags darkening the area underneath. Thanks to the frequent use of baking soda and mouthwash, his teeth manage to stay mostly white despite his heavy smoking, again being something he does for his job. Apparently none of the staff is allowed to look unkempt in the Hotel Richissime.
Something to note is that he tends to walk around with a slightly slouched posture which, paired with his habit of keeping his hands in his pockets, leaves him emitting an aura of nonchalance. This idea is further supported by the earphones that often rest within his ears. He has pulled the earphones up from under his shirt so that when not in use they simply hang on the collar of his shirt for easy access.
Family: Anselme grew up in a good enough household with his parents, Joseph and Marie Ducreux, and his twin brother Enzo, who has since become an expert pokemon trainer. He currently lives alone, the way he likes it, although he does receive occasional visits from Enzo when the latter decides to take a break from travelling the world. His parents have both retired and are using their savings to travel the world as well, seeking resorts and other tourist hot-spots instead of tough battles like Enzo. Anselme only ever sees them on their annual Christmas dinner party. He isn't very close to any of his cousins, aunts, or uncles and all his grandparents are dead.
Interests and goals: Anselme was content with his routine life in Lumiose, working as a janitor in Hotel Richissime to pay for the rent on a small flat where he liked to listen to music, play video games, browse the internet, or otherwise just relax. It was a peaceful existence except for any time he received a visit from his brother, Enzo. Whenever he visited, Enzo made it a point to remind Anselme how much of a loser he was. It was never out of ill will, as Enzo only wanted Anselme to become someone he could be proud of, but Anselme didn't want to hear any of it. It was his life to live how he wanted, and for someone with no real talents the life he'd made for himself was good enough for him. Enzo usually kept his composure when the two would argue, often leaving soon after if Anselme tells him to leave, but during his latest visit a few weeks after Anselme's 29th birthday he finally snapped. His brother was a chain smoking high school drop-out with a dead-end job who had never even owned a pokemon, lived in a one-room flat, didn't have a girlfriend, subsisted off of instant noodles because he kept spending the little money he had on games and cigarettes, and to top it all off was almost thirty years old, and Enzo refused to let him stay miserable the rest of his life because of a warped sense of pride.
This had never bothered Anselme too much before. In fact, he was fairly open about some of the things. Who cared if he was single or where he lived, or even that he smoked? Individually, it all seemed harmless, but having it all spelled out to him at once by Enzo, the man who shared his genes but lived a much better life, helped it all actually sink in. He'd been living this way for almost ten years, and although not all of them were as a janitor the other jobs weren't much better. It became apparent that if something didn't change he might actually spend the rest of his life like this. So finally, Anselme decided to accept Enzo's help. However, it didn't come in the form he expected. With a quick move from Enzo's Vivillon Anselme was put to sleep, and when he finally awoke he was in the middle of a forest with a letter from Enzo in his hand explaining the situation. He had been flown to the Kanto region, specifically Viridian Forest, and directed to go north to Pewter City to begin his first pokemon journey. Enzo had given him a pokeball containing one of his pokemon to keep as his own, as well as a few sets of clothes, basic survival gear, trainer essentials such as pokeballs and potions, Anselme's MP3 player, and 3 packs of cigarettes. Enzo left it up to Anselme to decide whether or not he would pursue the path of a trainer or simply go home, but with no money or place to stay Anselme would be forced to be a trainer anyway, at least until he managed enough money for a ship home.
Strengths: Anselme likes to consider himself a "realist", and as such keeps an air of skepticism that repels most trickery. This also keeps him from biting off more than he knows he can chew. Most of the time, at least. Despite his bad attitude, he is actually very patient and fairly tolerant, and at heart he is a good person. He is generally able to ignore things he considers annoying if he figures they are more trouble than they are worth. While he'll complain a lot, he is usually willing to do whatever he needs to do to get things done. Also, he can smoke 2-3 packs of cigarretes a day without getting lung cancer, if that counts as a strength.
Weaknesses: "People person" is probably the furthest you could get from describing Anselme. While he's able to interact with people if he has to, Anselme would rather avoid them. To him, all he needs is his music and himself to be happy, although he wouldn't mind a few cigs too. Anselme is a smoking addict and going without a smoke for a long time makes him irritable, and it becomes difficult for him to concentrate. While he's somehow managed to avoid a number of lung diseases, the years of heavy smoking have made his lung capacity pitiful, making him a bad runner. Another major weakness is that he doesn't plan ahead much, but what is probably his biggest weakness is his lack of knowledge concerning pokemon, as he never cared much for any of the careers that called for much interaction with pokemon such as trainer or coordinator. It is worth mentioning that any mention of Anselme's brother is enough to make him angry.
Starter pokémon: Beedrill ♀

Bio: This Beedrill previously belonged to Enzo Ducreux before she was given to Anselme to help him on his journey. Anselme has yet to name her and knows nothing of her past other than the fact that she belonged to Enzo, but he thinks she's cool and keeps her out of her pokeball. She seems willing to do whatever Anselme tells her to without question, but shows no pet-like qualities or anything else to suggest that she cares about Anselme. Unbeknownst to Anselme, Enzo taught this Beedrill a few moves he believed would help Anselme: Cut in case he got lost in the forest, Rock Smash to give him a fighting chance against Brock, and Return as an incentive for Anselme to befriend the pokemon. Anselme has no idea the Beedrill knows any of these moves.
Second pokémon: Weedle ♂
Moves: Poison Sting, String Shot
Bio: This Weedle was the first pokemon encountered by Anselme after waking up and was promptly caught without even a battle. It has not been released since being caught and has yet to be named. Anselme is unaware of the fact that Weedle evolves into Beedrill.
