VS Flareon!

Sam was happy. He had finally made it to Saffron City. It had been a long road, but he was finally there. THE BIGGEST CITY HE HAD EVER SEEN! As soon as he was in town, he noticed something. There were a bunch of people standing outside a building. As Sam walked over, a kid came out. "Wow! I can't believe you did it Yunihiro! You beat him!" a boy said, obviously a fan of the trainer. The trainer just nodded, walking away. Now Sam was curious. What was insde that building? He decided to find out, walking inside. Now he was in for a surprise. "GREETINGS!" a man said. "Yes! Welcome!" Another said. This continued until one said. "He's mine, guys! I'm Danny! Let's battle!" Danny said. "Sure! Eevee! Go!" Sam said. "Hahaha! An Eevee? If you win this, you'll get a real prize! Go! Flareon!" Danny said, releasing a huge, red and orange flame covered pokemon from his pokeball. Checking this with his pokedex, Sam got the reply, " Flareon. This pokemon is the evolved form of eevee, covered in flames." "Who! An Eeveelution! We'll show it! Eevee! Sand Attack while running straight at it!" Sam said. Eevee charged at Flareon quickly, suddenly kicking up a lot of sand. This was Sam's perferred style. Attack and defend all in one move...

Flareon obviously wasn't stupid. It jumped over the sand. "Use Ember!" Danny commanded. Flareon shot red flames down at Eevee. Eevee, however, was fast. "Use Tail Whip!" Sam commanded. "What do you plan to...aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagggggggggggggggggh!!!" Danny screamed. Eevee was brilliant. It hit the flames perfectly, hitting Flareon hard. Flareon, despite its ability, was obviously very vaunerable to its own flames. "Yes! Now tackle!" Sam said. Eevee charged, hitting Flareon as it fell, knocking it towards a wall. "Hm...good move. Eevee's getting tired, though. Return it. Use something else!" Danny said. Sam knew he was right, and returned his Eevee. "Okay. This is gonna sound weird...but go magikarp!" Sam said. The golden orange fish came out of its pokeball quickly. "What's with that? It'd be good if it evolved. It's weak now, though! Loser!" Danny said. Magikarp was mad now. "Use Tackle!" Danny said. "Splash! Straight up and down!" Sam said. Flareon charged. Magikarp went up. Flareon stopped. Magikarp fell. Flareon was squished be 10 or so pounds of bone and scales...hahahahahaha! "Ha! Eat that!" Sam said. "EMBER!" Danny screamed. "Splash again!" Sam said. Flareon hit it. Magikarp caught on fire. Magikarp fell. Magikarp squished Flareon again. This was getting pathetic. "Crush it," Sam said emotionlessly. Magikarp let its full weight down with one splash.

"No! Flareon! Oh well. You won. But remember this. You pokemon need to be treated with love. Not cruel commands." Danny said, handing Sam a parcel. "I just want them to reach their full potential. Trust me when I say I'm actually much more kind than much of my family..." Sam said. "Okay...by the way, send out Eevee." Danny said. Sam did. "Now put the fire stone I gave you on its head," Danny said. "No. I know that it'll evolve. Instead...I've got to go. I'm gonna challenge the gym tomorrow. In the mean time...there's more than 1 way to evolve an Eevee. Eevee and I are quite close...I'm considering trying to evolve it into an espeon or umbreon because of that, but its Eevee's choice, of course!" Sam said. "Good. At least you know that much. But you've still got a lot to learn. Still, you should challenge the gym! You'd probably win!" Danny said. "You think so? I will tomorrow, then!" Sam said. After that, Sam left for the pokecenter, but as he was about to get there..."You! You just beat someone! WHO?!" a guy said. "Um...Danny. Why?" Sam asked. "Oh. Just taking a poll. Well, good job! Here!" the guy said, handing Sam a rock. "What's this?" Sam asked. "That's an everstone, which prevents evolution. It'll help when you've got something you don't want to evolve yet. Well, see ya!" The guy said. Sam just continued to the pokecenter, where he had his pokemon healed and went to sleep.

(Sorry this was short... I Just wanted Nidorino to evolve).

Running into the pokemon center, James took his egg out of the bag and saw it was glowing. He ran over to Nurse Joy and showed her the egg. She immediately called over her Chansey, and the two of them got straight to work. James watched from a distance for a short while, until Nurse Joy beckoned him over. James slowly walked over and looked down to see a pokemon with a teal-colored body with a cream-colored spot on its chest lying in the spot where his egg had been, James pulled out his Pokedex and scanned the Teal coloured Pokemon.

Munchlax

The big eater Pokemon. It's the Pre-Evolved form of Snorlax. It wolfs down its weight in food once a day, swallowing food whole with almost no chewing. It hides food under its long body hair. However, it forgets it has hidden the food.

" Ah, aren't you cute ". James picked up Munchlax and cradled him in his arms.

" Munch Lax Munch ". He said excitidly.

" Come on then little buddy, you can come watch me and my other Pokemon train for our gym battle ".

" Munch Lax Munch ". Munchlax happily clapped his hands. James walked out of the Pokemon Center, he kept on walking until he was out of Saffron City, he entered Route 7, the perfect place to train before a gym battle. James started to look around for Pokemon to battle.

" Okay, I choose you Nidoran ". Nidoran emerged from his Pokeball, then suddenly he turned a bright White colour, he was evolving.

" Nido Nido ". Then when the light stopped a much bigger Pokemon stodd in front of James and Munchlax. James pulled out his Pokedex, almost dropping Munchlax in the meantime, he then scanned his newly evolved Pokemon.

Nidorino

The Poison pin Pokemon. It's the evolved form of Nidoran and Pre-Evolved form of Nidoking. It has a violent disposition and stabs foes with its horn, which oozes poison upon impact. It evolves to Nidoking when it comes into contact with a Moon Stone.

" Hey, Nidoran evolved, but Moon Stone to evolve you hey, not quite yet ". On that note Munchlax pulled the Moon Stone out of James' pocket and chucked it at Nidorino, he turned White once again, he was evolving.

" Munch Lax Munch ".

" Munchlax, you naughty boy what have you done that for ".

" Nido Nido Ran ".....

[I Laugh at your Misfortune!]

"So...how does this trade work, exactly? Do we just switch Pokeballs?" Danny nodded in response to Warren's question.
"There' some big machine you can put them through, but it doesn't really do anything." He held out Gastly's Pokeball.
"Here, it's yours." Warren smiled, accepting it, then unclipped Mankey's Pokeball from his belt, handing it to Danny.
"Look after him, all right, he's a good battler." Danny grinned.
"I will, Warren. Thanks, I'll see you around." Whistling cheerfully, he turned and wandered off, leaving Warren holding a brand new Pokémon. He grinned and held out the Pokeball.
"Time to meet, Gastly!" in a flash of light, a dark orb burst from the ball, surrounded by a dark purple gas. Appearing from somewhere, two piercing eyes appeared on its surface. A small indentation below them resembled a mouth.
"Gaaaasss?" The Pokémon hissed, its sibilant voice echoing strangely around Warren's head. He grinned.
"That is so awesome! I'm Warren, by the way, your new trainer! We're about to head to the Gym here." The ghost eyed him up or a minute, then nodded serenely.
"Gasssss" it whispered, before returning itself to the Pokeball in Warren's hand. Smiling, he headed towards the gym.

"OI! BATTLE! NOW!" Needless to say, Warren did not walk in calmly and politely ask for a gym battle. The whole gym looked deserted, though - the entire place was filled with shadows and it was impossible to see more than few feet into the building. Warren stepped forwards and without warning, the doors slammed shut and four high-watt lamps at the corners of the battlefield burst into light. Warren squinted a little as his eyes tried to adjust and noticed a lone figure standing at the other end of the battlefield.
"Are you the Gym Leader?" he bellowed as the person turned to face him, revealing themselves to be male. Warren scratched his head.
"Hang on, I thought that Sabrina ran the Saffron Gym?" The leader smiled.
"She used to, but the board kicked her out after she kept changing the losing challengers into dolls." Warren shivered at the thought. Freakish Psychic powers completely weirded him out. Then, he shook his head.
"Never mind the gym's sordid back-story, I'm here for a badge and that means that I want a battle!" The Gym leader smiled and stepped forwards.
"My name is Tyron," he said, introducing himself, "I specialise in the Psychic type. That's why my first Pokémon will be Mr. Mime!" Warren gawped as the red and white...thing emerged. He couldn't accurately gauge its power, but one think he could tell was that it would get its ass kicked in a beauty contest.

Today was not a good day. Sam had woken up late, he hadn't been able to get breakfast (which he WOULD get tomorrow...) and he hadn't had lunch. Instead, he woke up to dinner being cooked. How annoying. Anyway, he was headed for the gym. That was good. He had to win a new badge before he headed down to vermillion. The leader there would be just as strong if not stronger than this one. After that to celedon and so on. As he walked, he found the gym. This was good. Walking inside, he was greeted by a man introducing himself as Tyron. He said he was the gym leader there. "Great! I"m ready for a battle if you are. I'm Sam." Sam said, introducing himself. "Great. Send out the pokemon you intend to use. Here're mine! Go!" Tyron said, throwing out his pokemon, a Mr. Mime and a Kadabra. "Hm...I think I'll use...Vee! Pidg!" Sam said, throwing out his pokemon. His Eevee and his Pidgey came out. "Great! Let's begin! Mr. Mime, use Barrier. Kadabra, teleport! His Mr. Mime created a barrier out of psychic energy while his Kadabra dissapeared. "Whoa! Where'd kadabra go?" Sam asked. Suddenly, Kadabra appeared, right behind Vee. "Now Confusion!" Tyron commanded. Eevee was picked up.

"Now crush it!" Tyron said. Kadabra threw Vee to the ground with a lot of power. "No! Vee! You can do it!" Sam said. "No it can't. You should have known that you couldn't beat me without either a dark type or at least an evolved pokemon. Pathetic. You really are weak. Kadabra. Finish that Eevee off. Use your disable to hold it still, the crush it." Tyron said. "Noo! Vee! Hold on! Sand attack." Sam said. It was too late. Kadabra was already crushing Vee. "Noooooooooo! Vee!" Sam screamed. That's when it happened. Vee started glowing. Sharper, more prominent ears grew, it became bigger and its tail thickened. When the light cleared, a black pokemon was sitting there. "Umbre!" "It...evolved? For him? Whoa...this isn't good...if it knows that now...shoot. This is not good. Mr. Mime! Finish it with your Doubleslap!" Tyron said. "Pidg! Quick Attack on Mr. Mime. Umbreon, use anything new you know on Kadabra!" Sam said. Pidg and Umbre (Vee's new nickname) both used the command. Pidg used Quick Attack and hit it hard. Umbre, however, used a new attack. It pulled together energy and charged, tackling the Kadabra. "What was that?!" Sam asked. "That...was...pursuit. Shoot. This is NOT good. I can't hit it with confusion. It'll probably kill Kadabra before I can attack with it again anyway. And that would leave...no. I've got to continue! Confusion on Pidgey and Doubleslap on Umbreon!" Tyron said anxiously. "Change positions! Gust, Pidg and Pursuit Umbre!" Sam commanded. The pokemon switched places and used their moves flawlessly. "Grrr! New rule! You can't use those two! Switch your pokemon!" Tyron said. "Cheater...return!" Sam commanded. His 2 pokemon came back. "Now go!" Sam said, throwing out his other two. Magikarp and Pika came out of their balls. "Now this is more like it. Confusion!" Tyron commanded, directing his attention to Pika. "Use Quick Attack of Mr. Mime!" Sam said. "Grr! Barrier!" Tyron said. Pika crashed face first into the barrier. "Hmm...Thundershock." Sam said. Pika released a volt, which bounced off the barrier, striking Kadabra. "Agh! Stupid attack. Just luck. Use confusion on Magikarp!" Tyron said, turning, but Magikarp was gone. "Heh. Your mistake. Magikarp is fast. Now fall!" Sam said. Magikarp fell on Kadabra, crushing it. Sam heard a crack. "No! Return..." Tyron said. "Now! Use Thundershock...then thunderwave!" Sam said. Pika shot out a bolt which bounced off both the barriers as they held them. "Now Splash on Mr. Mime!" Sam commanded. Magikarp fell on Mr. Mime, who let down his barrier to be hit by Sam's combo. "Noo! I lose! Grrr! Here!" Tyron said, tossing a small object at Sam. Sam caught it, and it was the Marshbadge. "Haha! Yes. We did it. Now...I'm gonna head south. To Vermillion City!" Sam said, leaving the gym.

As he walked out, he bumped into someone. "Oh! I"m sorry...oh! Danny!" Sam said, recognizing the man. "Good work, Sam! You beat Tyron. He's got a streak of victories and evilness. His pokemon are strong...but you beat 'em! And Eevee evolved. Wow! You were right when you said you had a tight bond. Great work!" Danny said. "Thanks! Well, my pokemon are tired and we're gonna head to the pokecenter. Then, to Vermillion City." Sam said. "Cool...cool. Anyway, there's a rumor that there's a powerful Vulpix south of here. Its said that it knows the flamethrower attack. I think it'll come in handy if you go fight the Grass Gym of Celedon City. You should look for it. Your Fire Stone you won from me will come in handy! Well, good luck. I'm headed back to the gym now. And if you ever get time, come back for another round. I won't dissapoint you!" Danny said, heading back to the Evo. Gym. Sam headed to the pokecenter, going to sleep. His pokemon were healing and it was going to be a great day tomorrow.

It was morning. Time to go. Sam walked out onto the route south of Safferon City, where his next badge was waiting just south of here, in Vermillion City. "Hm...the next gym is an Electric Type gym. I might want to catch a new pokemon, since none of mine will be much good. That Vulpix Danny mentioned, though..." Sam muttered. He remembered what Danny said, a Vulpix with the powerful flamethrower attack. That would be a great addition to his team, if he could just catch it. Well, no point in wasting time. He would have to get going. He walked down the path of the route. It was a really pretty place, despite all the scorch marks. Wait...scorch marks?! Only a really powerful fire attack could cause them. Sam followed them. Suddenly, they stopped. "It must have gone further towards the grass. Still, why would it know flamethrower? And why would it be using it?" Sam asked himself. He eventually found some tracks. This was good. He was going to find the Vulpix. As Sam walked, he saw a flame light up. He was close. As he pushed his way through the grass, he saw something. There were a fair many Vulpix there. Two were fighting in the middle. Sam quickly knew what was going on. They were fighting for the right of leader.

As Sam walked in, all the Vulpix turned to face him. "Pix! Vulpix Vul!" one cried. Sam knew it wanted a battle. "Okay then! Go Pika!" Sam said, throwing out his pokemon. Pika came out, ready to attack. The first vulpix used quick attack. Sam knew by how fast it was moving. "Use Thunderwave on the ground!" Sam commanded. The Vulpix was stopped. "Now! Quick attack yourself!" Sam said. Pika charged, hitting the Vulpix, knocking it out. Another charged. "Return! Go Pidg!" Sam said. His Pidgey came out, ready to fight. The Vulpix used its powerful ember attack. "Use Gust to blow the flames back!" Sam said. Pidg hit the Vulpix with a gust and a flame coated it. The flames it blew were used against it. "Now Sand Attack on it!" Sam said. Pidg covered Vulpix in sand. Suddenly, another one came up, assisting the current one. "Use Quick Attack to take out the first one, then Gust on the second." Sam commanded. Pidg charged, hitting his opponent. Then, he knocked the second one into a tree. "Okay! Return!" Sam commanded. His Pidgey went back in the ball. "Now! Umbre!" Sam said, throwing out another pokeball. His Umbreon came out, this time.

The 2 Vulpix who were fighting were now his opponents. Both used Ember on Umbre. "Dodge! Then use your Pursuit!" Sam commanded. Umbre followed perfectly. It jumped over the flames, then, surrounding itsself in dark energy, it charged at its opponents. It hit one, which looked weaker than the other, but the second one dodged. It jumped and used Quick Attack on Umbre. Umbre took fair damage from this attack. Then, the other Vulpix used its Ember attack again. "Use Sand Attack on both!" Sam said. Umbre kicked up sand in both directions. The sand blocked both attacks coming his way. The Ember actually stopped while the Quick Attack missed completly while being blocked, too. Then, 2 more Vulpix charged with quick attack. "Go Magikarp!" Sam threw out his last pokeball. The golden orange fish came out, splashing about. "Throw your self up! Umbre, jump on Magikarp, then come back down with pursuit!" Sam said. Magikarp bounced up while Umbre jumped on it. Then, Umbre charged using dark energy to KO the vulpix already hit by pusuit and severly injuring another one. Magikarp fell on one Vulpix, crushing it. Only two more left. "Umbre, return. Go Pika!" Sam commanded. Pika came out again. "Use your Thundershock on the one on the left. Then use quick attack on the other. Magikarp, use your splash attack on the right one." Sam commanded. Pika shocked one Vulpix violently, while magikarp splashed, distracting the other as Pika charged, KOing the last one. "I did it!" Sam said, as the last one ran. Suddenly, Sam realized he hadn't tried to catch the vulpix with flamethrower, even though he didn't know which one it was. There was, however, an egg laying there. A Vulpix had been heating it, and Sam could feel movement. It was about to hatch. Sam picked it up, saying, "This is mine..." and walked away, down the path towards Vermillion.

Description: A city which is filled with residents and passing by trainers looking to earn a Gym Badge. The town holds the basics, a pokémon center and the largest pokémart in Kanto. Oh, there's also a Gym which you could challenge. There is also a game corner with prizes! It's not gambling anymore though its pokémon orientated games! (Read Game Corner section).

What can you do in a City?

Explore the Town
Note: You may not catch wild pokémon in the city, and you cannot have pokémon Battles, unless you're in a special area, for example a gym. This is basically a place to restore your health and relax.

Places of Interest
Pokémon Center: A place where you may heal your pokémon and sleep all for free!
Poké Mart: A department store where you can buy anything (except TM's and evolution stones)
Celadon Gym: A chance to earn your next badge, the Celadon Gym leader favours Grass type pokémon.
Game Corner - You can win some fantastic Prizes, but can only play one game... so choose carefully.

Game Corner -
Entrance fee - $100
Game 1
Must use a water pokémon to knock all of the lined up cans off of the ledge, without missing one. If you miss a can then you lose the game.
Prize - Water Stone
Game 2
Have 15 seconds to melt all of the ice surrounding the prize with a fire type pokémon. If prize is still inside the ice at the end of 15 seconds, then you lose the game.
Prize - Fire Stone
Game 3
Must successfully charge up the entire giant novelty battery in 15 seconds with an electric type pokémon. If battery is not fully charged, then you lose the game.
Prize - Thunder Stone
Game 4
Must use a grass pokémon to retrieve the prize off the top of a high stand. If fail to retrieve stone, then you lose this game.
Prize - Leaf Stone
Game 5
Must break the moon shaped rock to retrieve the prize inside. Must use a pokémon that can evolve through the use of a Moon Stone. Failure to reach prize will cause you to lose this game.

Game 6
Must break the sun shaped rock to retrieve the prize inside. Must use a pokémon that can evolve through the use of a Sun Stone. Failure to reach prize will cause you to lose this game.

The next morning, Sam relized something. He already had Vermillion's badge. He was feeling stupid. As he walked back towards Saffron, he saw something. A man with 6 magikarp training them to swim. As Sam walked over, he asked, "What are you doing?" "Me? I'm training my magikarp! And you? What are you doing?" he asked. "I'm coming to ask. In the mean time, would you like to battle?" Sam asked. "Um...sure. Okay. 1! Let's go!" he said. "What the heck? 1?" Sam asked. "I give them numbers, since there are 6. What's your pokemon?" he asked. "Go! Magikarp!" Sam said, throwing out his own magikarp. His pokemon came out and splashed in the shallow water. "I see. Use Splash!" the man commanded. "Jump and fall on it!" Sam said. While the man's magikarp sat there splashing, Sam's Magikarp jumped and fell on the opponent's magikarp. "Wow! You use your magikarp well. In the mean time, splash some water on his magikarp, 1!" the man said. "Tsk. Again! Finish it this time!" Sam commanded. Magikarp jumped and fell on his opponent's magikarp. This time, the opponent's magikarp started sinking. "No! Return. I gotta say. You're not half bad...still. Go 2!" he said, throwing out ANOTHER magikarp. "How many of those do you have?!" Sam asked. "You saw. I have 6." the man said, "Oh! And my name's Andy. I'm tryin' to get a gyrados!" Andy said. "Cool. Cool. I'm just training." Sam said. "I see your magikarp's strong. Have it battle all of my magikarp. It should evolve as a result!" Andy said. "Okay!" Sam said.

The battle against the second magikarp was even tougher. "Use the same jumping technique he does!" Andy said. This was his most common phrase this match. Sam had to be careful. His magikarp was weak when it came to defense. He kept dodging and the opponent's magikarp would hit the ground a lot. Then it was time. "Jump into the water!" Sam said. His magikarp flew up and fell in the water, making a wave. Andy's magikarp was caught in the wave and was weak. "Now! Splash all over it!" Sam said. Magikarp slpashed all over his opponent's magikarp. This was his Magikarp's equivilant of thrash attack. Sam was curious, though. Was Magikarp really getting anything out of this training. He had the egg to hatch...but this was necessary training. He had to get karp strong. This was important. "Okay. Next...one!" Andy said. He threw out another magikarp. "Use your jump attack again!" Sam said. As Magikarp went up, this magikarp flung gravel at Magikarp. "No! Keep going the same way!" Sam said. Magikarp kept falling. It hit it, but only a side glance. Both pokemon went tumbling in the water. Andy's magikarp was struggling in the water. Sam's magikarp was splashing around drowning Andy's. "Return!" Both said at once. Sam, however, sent his magikarp back out. "Are you okay, Magikarp? Here!" Sam said, feeding Magikarp a berry. Magikarp looked better instantly.

"Well, send it out!" Sam demanded. Andy reluctantly threw out his next magikarp. Sam decided he'd get some real practice now. A smirk appeared on Andy's face. "Use Tackle!" Andy commanded. Sam instantly knew his next 3 pokemon were stronger. Much more so than his own magikarp. "Spin! Then smash it with your jumping smash!" Sam said. Magikarp quickly started spinning. He hit the opponent's magikarp, then jumped and fell upon it. This wasn't enough to defeat it, though. "Now! Splash attack!" Both said simeltaneously. They were both good attempts, but Sam's was stronger. His magikarp knocked the other into the pond nearby and the other magikarp was instantly knocked out. The water wasn't normal. All the magikarps that has fallen in had taken a lot of damage. "Heh...hehe. Hehehehehehe...HAHAHAHAHAHA! YOU LOSE! GO BOTH MY MAGIKARPS!" Andy said, throwing out not one, but two pokeballs. In one was an ordinary magikarp. In the other was a golden magikarp. "Oh shoot. This isn't good. Two of them and magikarp's getting weak. My other pokemon are all severely injured after that battle with the vulpixes. Okay then. Magikarp, can you keep going?" Sam asked. "Karp magi magi!" his pokemon said. Sam knew it was saying yes. "Haha. Okay. Use your tackle, both of you!" Andy commanded. Both the pokemon flew at Sam's magikarp. "Rgh...we can't take this shot. Magikarp! Jump and spin!" Sam said. Magikarp followed orders perfectly. One magikarp had enough time to get down. The golden one. Sam guessed that was the stronger one. The other wasn't so lucky. It was hit hard, and fell in the pond. The pokemon was hurt again. Sam continuously wondered why. In the mean time, it wasn't down yet. "Jump on it!" Sam said. Magikarp followed orders. The pokemon was knocked out.

"Okay. Now's the time. Magikarp! Jump in the water!" Andy said. As this pokemon jumped in, it wasn't hurt. In fact, it looked almost happy. It was jumping around. "Now! Eat this!" Andy said, tossing what looked like a pebble at the pokemon. Magikarp ate it, and suddenly, it started glowing. After a couple seconds, it started changing shape. A few more seconds passed, and the glow dissapeared. In its place was a huge, red pokemon. "Whoa!!!! What's that?!" Sam asked, pulling out his pokedex. It said, "Gyrados, the atrocious pokemon. This pokemon is incredibly violent and dangerous, especially when angered." "Well that helped a lot. Magikarp, you sure we should keep going?" Sam asked. Magikarp jumped about, signaling a yes. "Hahaha! Pathetic! Thrash!" Andy yelled. Gyrados started thrashing about. It missed magikarp completly, however. "Hm...doesn't look accurate. Jump on it!" Sam said. Magikarp hit it head on, though it looked like it did very little. "Shoot. It's pretty strong now..." Sam muttered. "USE BITE!" Andy said. Gyrados picked up Magikarp with its fangs. Sam was about to give magikarp a command, when he remembered Magikarp's pokedex entry. "Magikarp! Trust me and stand STILL!" Sam yelled. Magikarp looked a little nervous, but when it saw Sam's face, it instantly became more confident. It just sat there, ready. When Gyrados bit down, something amazing happened. Its teeth broke. "What?!" Andy screamed. "Haha. You had 6 yet you didn't know? Magikarp is bone and scale! That's all!" Sam chimed. "Now! Splash! Break the teeth!" Sam said. Magikarp thrashed about, breaking several more teeth. "SPIT IT OUT!" Andy screamed. Gyrados spit Magikarp straight out the ground. "Switch shape. Bouce straight up! HIT IT WITH ONE MORE JUMP!" Sam yelled. Magikarp hit Gyrados on the nose. This time, it did much more damage. Gyrados fell in the water. "Get up!" Andy said. Gyrados didn't obey. It stayed down. "I win!" Sam said. "Um....uh....RETURN!" Andy said, running off. "Hey! Get back here!" Sam yelled. Suddenly, he stopped as he saw something shiny on the ground. It was a disc. On it, it said Water Pulse. Sam slipped it in his backpack. Picking up Magikarp, Sam said, "Good work! You've gotten so strong!" "Karp!" Magikarp cried. As they walked down the path, Sam looked into the sunset, wondering where he'd be going next!

" Nido Nido King ". When the light stopped, there stood a giant Purple Pokemon that didn't have much resemblance to Nidoran or Nidorino, James pulled out his Pokedex and scanned his new Pokemon.

Nidoking


The drill Pokemon. One swing of its mighty tail can snap a telephone pole as if it were a matchstick.

" Hey Munchlax, it looks like Nidorino has evolved into Nidoking, boy he looks really strong ".

" Munch Lax Munch ". He clapped his hands, obviously happy with his deed.

" Well, Munchlax I need to do some battling so, you'll need to go on the floor while I do this ". James pulled out a blanket and wrapped Munchlax in it, he then gently placed him on the floor.

" I think I'll save you for my gym battle Nidoking, so return, well I need two Pokemon for the gym battle that's Nidoking and either Eevee or Vulpix ". James was still debating other whether or not to give Vulpix her gym battle debut or to use Eevee who already has experience, James looked through his Pokedex for clues then bingo he spotted one. " It says here that Eevee can learn Shadow Ball via TM, so if I go to the Poke Mart after I've trained him up he might be able to learn it then it'll really effective against Tyron ". " So I choose you, Eevee ".

" Ee Vee ". Out emerged James' Eevee from his Pokeball, he looked as handsome as always.

" Okay Eevee, it's time to train you up, so let's look for a trainer to battle ". James was looking around for trainers when he spotted a familiar face, it was Danny.

" James, I haven't seen you since I defeated you in MountMoon ".

" Oh shut up about that Danny, I'll beat you this time ".

" Oh, you want another battle, do you "?

" Yeah I'm sure I do, let's make it One on One, my Eevee against a Pokemon of your choice ".

" Ee Vee Vee ". Eevee looked at James pleased that he's shown confidence in him.

" Okay, then I choose my newest Pokemon, go Krabby ". Out from the shiny Pokeball emerged a crab like Pokemon, James removed his Pokedex from his belt and scanned the new Pokemon.

Krabby

The river crab Pokemon. It lives in burrows dug on sandy beaches. Its pincers fully grow back if they are broken in battle.

" Let's do this thing, Eevee use Tackle ". Eevee started to run towards Krabby, ready to smash into him.

" Krabby, fend her off with Bubblebeam ". Krabby started blowing bubbles towards Eevee, rapidly.

" Eevee dodge it then use Growl to stop him firing them ". Eevee rolled out the way of the bubbles, then before he could fire anymore Eevee growled at him, putting him off.

" Krabby, counter by using Vicegrip ". Krabby started to scuttle towards Eevee.

" Eevee when he gets close slap him with your tail, use Tail Whip ". As Krabby got closer Eevee made the First move by slapping Krabby with his tail.

" No, Krabby try to get up then use Vicegrip ". Krabby started to get up.

" Eevee before he gets up use Tackle to send him flying backwards ". Eevee smashed into Krabby and pushed him all the way back to his trainer.

" Krabby are you okay ". Danny looked down at Krabby.

" Krab By ". Krabby nodded at Danny showing he was okay.

" Thats great news, now Krabby use Bubblebeam ". Krabby started to fire yet more bubbles at James' Eevee.

" Eevee start to run towards the bubbles then jumped over them and use Tackle, so you land on Krabby ". Eevee ran towards the bbbles then he jumped over them, then he used Tackle and smashed into Krabby, a feint crack could be heard.

" Krabby, no whats happened to you ". When Eevee rolled off there was a crack in One of Krabby's claws, Eevee had cracked it.

" Great work Eevee, now you're close use Tail Whip ". Eevee swung his tail and sent Krabby back to the feet of Danny.

" Ee Vee Vee ". Eevee looked towards James, wondering what to do next.

" Eevee use Tackle ". Eevee started to run towards Krabby.

" Krabby use Vicegrip with your un-damaged claw ". Then as Eevee was getting closer Krabby swung his almighty claw and smashed it into Eevee's face making her squeal in pain.

" Eevee no, get up ".

" Ee Vee Vee ". Eevee pulled himself up, he wasn't out of this yet.

" Krabby, before he has time to recover use Slam ". Krabby scuttled over towards Eevee, he was just about to pick him up.

" Eevee now while he's close use Tackle ".

" Ee Veee ". Eevee put alot of power into this one. Krabby against the floor, only just surviving.

" Finish it Eevee, use Tackle, full power ". Eevee ran as fast as he could and belted Krabby into a tree, Krabby fell from the tree and fainted.

" Return Krabby, great work James, smell ya later ". On that note Danny ran away and out of James' sight.

" Amazing Eevee, well return ". Eevee returned to his Pokeball. james began to walk back to Saffron City.

" Munch Lax Munch ". James felt like a right dope, he had almost forgotten Munchlax, he ran back and picked up his baby Pokemon, and he cradled him in his arms, he then re entered Saffron City. James made his way to the Poke Mart and walked up to the TM section, he hand picked TM's 23 and 30, the bill came to 3500 Poke dollars, James paid and walked out, he then gave Eevee the TM's, he then walked to the gym, he waited outside.

(Ahh, turns out this battle will last a little bit mroe thatn 4 posts...).​

The battle was about to get started, while Sean was thinking of the most appropriate move to be used. For some reason, he had known that Poison Sting wouldn't do much good, and that Wrap might not hit, which was correct. That left him with only one move that could attack, yet he was still unsure of, Bite. Diane was sure that Gastly would really overpower Ekans, as she knew what Gastly was like and would use it well. Sean came to his final decision, that he would use Bite, since he had a sense that the other two moves would do nothing. However, he did have one more move that could be used, that he would save until the time was correct. . Finally, he started to command his Ekans. "I'm ready. Use Bite, Ekans!" Ekans was coiled up in its stealthful position, and followed Sean's order quickly. Gastly was floating there, with an evil grin on its face that it would always have on since it is supposed to be an evil Ghost type. Ekans got out of its coiled position and started to slither over to Gastly, who was levitating carelessly. Sean did not have a very good feeling about Bite on Gastly, but little did he know that Bite was not actually a Normal type move, but it was infact a Dark type move. While Ekans was about to set its sharp fangs out on Gastly, it opened its eyes widely in shock as it did not see that coming. Gastly was rather hopeless, and did not listen to Diane much, which got on her nerves. As Ekans bit Gastly sharply, Gastly let out a sharp screech which sounded worse than Zubat's Supersonic. Diane was annoyed by how her Gastly did not sense a thing from Ekans, and just growled like a little girl would if they didn't get what they wanted. ​

Now it was her turn to chose a move for Gastly to use, but she did not know which one would be great to really get on Sean's nerves. Of course, since he got on her nerves, she would drive him insane in return so she chose one of Gastly's more irritating moves, but not the most irritating. Sean and Ekans were positive about what Diane would do and they would be ready for it. Ekans was slithering around in a circle, as if it were trying to chase its tail. Sean was staring at Diane's Gastly with confidence, and knew that anything she would use he could do twice as better. Now Diane would give out her command to Gastly, and would sure hope Gastly would use it or else she would get even worse. "Gastly, use Lick!" the move that Gastly could use to possibly paralyze Ekans, which would put Sean in the red, which was where he did not want to be. Sean thought that Lick would just be some stupid move that would be pointless against Ekans as it did sound weak, but little did he know that it was weak, but it had a high chance of paralysis. Ekans looked over at Gastly, staring as a Snake would to any enemy in its way. Gastly then started to hover slowly to Ekans, its motuh opening wider and looking more devious each bit it got closer on over. Ekans had no scared reactions, but it tried to slither away from Gastly, but that would have little chance of avoiding Gastly's Lick. Fianlly, Gastly opened its purple coloured mouth, and spread out its tongue all over Ekans' neck, which made it feel strongly intimidated. Sean was amazed by how a simple Lick from a Ghost could cause Ekans to be intimidated. Diane smiled, opening her mouth a little bit with her small, white teeth showing. Ekans was shivering, and had trouble moving which made Sean horrified, because he knew that these symptoms led to paralysis. However, Sean knew that he also had one move that had a certainty of paralyzing Gastly, and he would use that move now. Diane and Gastly were watching Ekans shuffle along the ground in shock, as it had trouble moving due to its paralyzing. Sean just hoped that Ekans would listen to him or else it could all go wrong. "Fight it, Ekans! Use Glare on Gastly!" it was a move that he had never used before, and he had spotted it in the guide that it had a 100% chance of paralysis, but of course, it had to hit, which would be hard for Ekans to do in its poor state. Ekans then gave an evil stare, different to Leer but it was even worse as it had its eyes tightened so hard that its pupils were like toothpicks. Gastly, and Diane too, were scared by the harsh look by Ekans and cringed backwards. Gastly was more affected by the Glare given by Ekans, and had its mouth open but with a frown instead of a smirk. It also had trouble moving, as it could not move against Ekans' evil eyes. Now they were both paralyzed, and had little chance of moving or attacking.​

Even though both oth the two Pokemon were in a bad state, Diane had an evil plan up her sleeve that she would take out on Sean. Sean however had nothing that would help Ekans as he had no medicine or berries to use. Unfortunately, Diane did and would certainly use them. She got her backpack off her back and digged her hand through a pocket, trying to find a certain berry that would cure Gastly, putting Gastly in the lead. Once it was out, she tossed it over in the direction of Gastly, recklessly forgetting that it might hit Ekans instead. "Eat the Cheri Berry, Gastly!" the berry was flying throught the air, as Ekans was watching it, trying to get in the way of Gastly's mouth and eat it for itself. Sean was watching in hope, wishing that Ekans would take the berry out of the air, but the berry had then stopped moving, and ended up in Gastly's throat. sean's reaction was a smack in the face as he was so close to getting Ekans cured. As for Ekans, it was trying to move, but it had a major dificulty in trying, leaving Gastly far ahead, but Sean was far from giving up. As Gastly had gotten better, and became healthy, Sean was getting furious and got Ekans ready to try to bring down Gastly. "Don't you worry, Ekans. Use Bite again!" Diane did not care as her and Gastly were already winning against it, and she was going to use her most annoying move that Gastly could use when ever she needed to incase she did have any trouble which had a small chance, since Sean was the one who was really in trouble. Ekans tried to get up, and get prepared to slither up to Gastly. Gastly was smiling happily, as it was ready to resist anything, even if it was another tough Bite by Ekans, but it forgot how tough it was and it did strongly hurt last time. Unbelievably, Ekans was slithering finely even in a paralyzed state. As it got close over to Gastly, Diane was suprised by how strong Sean's Pokemon actually are. Fianlly, Ekans struck its fangs onto Gastly and Gastly let out another yelp in distraction. Diane was enfuriated again, as she could not possibly stand getting back in the red even when she uses her tricks. ​

Sean was getting a confidence boost again, as he was getting back to shape again with Ekans getting back to normal, but Diane had her final trick up her sleeve which she was now ready to use and had no better time to use it. Ekans still had trouble moving, and was not cured even if it was capable of attacking. In an instance, Diane gave her command to Gastly, and she was posotive about it and was sure that it would get Sean really annoyed. "That's it! Gastly, use your Hypnosis!" Sean was familiar of this move, and hated the sound of it as soon as he could hear the command. His eyebrows were raised as Ekans was struggling to move out of its spot, and this meant that Hypnosis could have a high chance of hitting. Diane was looking at Ekans as if it were trash, and hoping it would just get knocked out by her Gastly. Just then, Gastly started to focus on Ekans, and got Sean worried as he could not let Ekans fall asleep and cost him another loss. Gastly kept its mind focused on Ekans, having its wide, white eyes closed shut. Ekans was watching in pain, and had not seen what was about to happen to it. And in that very second, Ekans and Sean were watching as Diane had her arms folded, Gastly let out three circular waves of hynotism. The waves were fast travelling, and hit Ekans before Sean could shout. As a shock result, Sean could not help but shout to wake Ekans up from its sleep which it had just fallen into. Ekans was flat on the floor, but it was breathing. Diane and Gastly were smiling evily, and now Diane had known that Sean could not attack and thought what exactly should be used next. All Sean did was get truly annoyed by what Diane had done, and hoped that his next Pokemon would not have to go through the same. His hands got turned into fists in seconds, and tried to control himself from doing or saying anything to Diane. Fianlly, Diane chose a perfect move that would weaken Ekans further. "Perfect. Now then Gastly, get it even better with Curse!" Sean had not heard of this move before, but the word 'Curse' sounded very threatening. Sicne Ekans was in a deep sleep, he could not give any command or do anything to wake it up unless it woke up on its own. Gastly started to glow red, and as it glew, a red shadow started to spread across the air and heading down to Ekans who Sean hated to see lose. Ekans then started to glow red, like Gastly, as the Curse had started to weaken it even more. Now it was almost the end, but Diane had to end it with one final move that she would use. Sean didn't care what it was, as he knew his next Pokemon to be used would be a success and knock Gastly out. "Now then, it's about time we finished it off! Use Night Shade!" Diane ended it with Gastly's strongest move, which was rather a waste but it was worthwhile to them. Sean, yet again, could do nothing to help, and just watched Gastly do its stuff. Gastly started to glow again, but this time, it had glown a different colour, purple. And a shadow did not flare throught he air, but instead, a shadow just grew from its purple, translucent body. Ekans then glew purple, just like it did from Curse, and then Gastly let go of its shadow, giving final damage to Ekans. Ekans then fell to one side, and was no longer sleeping, but had fainted. Diane gave a gesture with her fist as she shown off with another victory against Sean's Pokemon, yet there was more to come. Before Sean could choose, he returned Ekans in a red PokeBall. ​

So far, both Diane sadly was winning but hadn't known that Sean's other three Pokemon are his strongest, and the next one he'd send out would be one of them. However, she did not know this and continued to judge Sean with her Gastly which had tackled Ekans easily with all of its moves. Diane was grinning, and was sure that she could win it. Sean was choosing which Pokemon he shall use next, until the one choice came to him. "Well done, Diane. You managed to take out two of my Pokemon and I still have 3 left. Now, let me show you how good I really am." he took out a red PokeBall from his pocket and got ready to toss it, "Come on out, Zubat!" he then threw it to the ground, and out came Zubat who was flapping its purple wings to stay above the ground. Gastly was already weak enough, since it already had two Bites from Ekans which both had great effect, but it still kept up. Sean took the first go, to stop Diane getting the chance to command Gastly to use Hypnosis again. "Use Supersonic!" since Diane had drove him mad with all of her Gastly's moves, he thought he'd do the same. Diane did not like that he tried to copy her strategy, but she couldn't do anything about it. Before Zubat was about to make its painfully loud screech, Sean tried to add a witty comment to Diane, "Oh, and Diane, I'd cover your ears if I were you." once he said that, Diane gasped, because she didn't know what Supersonic really was. Zubat had its mouth opened wide, with its four sharp teeth showing, and then let out a terribly high pitched noise. Sean had earplugs on him, so eh couldn't hear a thing, as for Diane and Gastly, they just sround their teeth at the awful noise. As for Gastly alone, it kept shaking its head in dizziness, and couldn't take the high pitched noise anymore. Zubat then stopped, as it couldn't screech for now.​

Diane was irritated and had after shocks of Supersonic in her head, and she didn't like that move at all. The worst thing for her was that Gastly was confused, and had less of a chance of attacking, limiting her chance of bringing down Zubat. Shw couldn't accept it, and had to figure out a way of attacking back. As for Sean, all he did was stand there with his arms folded, acting cool and that he was the one to beat in this battle. "Well well well, Diane. You really thought you could annoy me with all of Gastly's moves. Looks like you were wrong." she didn't like what he was saying, obviously, and just chose any move that could make him take it back. "I don't care! This will work! Use Lick, Gastly!" she ordered, sounding like she was having a tantrum. Gastly's eyes were shaking and kept moving in its confusion, but it did hear Diane. So in that, Gastly tried to find Zubat who was flying in the same spot, seeing if Gastly would try and get to it or not. Gastly was levitating off in a random place, up to a bunch of plants with its tongue hanging out, ready to lick them. "What are you doing?!" Diane was angry, and tried to get Gastly to listen, but it was no use. Sean was smiling at Gastly, who was going completely the wrong way. Fianlly, Gastly swept its long, pink tongue over the bush, but this was no bush, this was a bramble bush. As a result, Gastly shrieked like a ghost, and kept spinning around in dizziness yet again. It was hugely damaged by the sharp prickles on the bramble bush, and Diane hated it. Now it was Sean's turn to finish Gastly off and atch Diane send out her next Pokemon which he would beat. "Perfect. Now, use Astonish, Zubat!" this move was one that not only would get Gastly by suprise, but do extra since Gastly would not be able to detect it in its poor state. Diane growled, and tried to say something, but she couldn't think of one remark that would help her. Zubat flapped its wings at an alarming rate, and then shot close to Gastly, but not directly at it. Gastly turned its head, trying to notice what was going on, but it was confused and its vision was blurred, leaving it helpless anyway. Finally, Zubat flapped its wings swiftly and darted over to Gastly, who didn't see a suprise attack coming. This left Gastly too weak, and it couldn't take any more attacks, so it stopped levitating and fell down to the ground, with the flow of its gas stopping. "Way to go, Zubat! That was so cool! Keep it up!" he congratulated Zubat, with Zubat returning with a twitch of its ears. Diane was unimpressed, and all she did was get a red PokeBallfrom her pocket, and push the white button in the middle, with a grim look on her face. Next up, she would send out one of her strongest Pokemon, which wasn't necessarily clever, but had some hard hitting attacks. Sean kept out his Zubat, and waited to see what was to come, sure that his Zubat would easily beat.​

Sam had just gotten back into Saffron City. As he was walking around, he spotted a boy next to the gym, explaining the strategy to his Eevee. The boy looked about the same age Sam did.

"Hey! You! You're about to go fight the gym?" Sam asked. He was curious, this trainer could use a little help. Tyron was a rude guy and some extra practice could be useful for this kid.

" What me "? James asked as he turned around to see another young boy by his side. Sam noticed that James was cradling a young Munchlax in his arms.

"Yes. You. I noticed you have an Eevee? How about a warm up battle, then? I beat Tyron and I'm about to head to Celedon for my next match. A warm up would be great. How many pokemon have you got?" Sam asked. This kid seemed strong. He'd make a great match.

" My names James and I'd love to battle you, I've got four Pokemon but this little guy can't battle yet, because he's too young ". James pointed towards his beloved Munchlax.

"I've got five, including this little guy," Sam said, pulling out an egg. "Well, I'll use these 3," Sam said, pulling out a few pokeballs. "Go! Magikarp!" Sam said, throwing out his first pokeball.

" Magi Karp Karp ". A red scaled Pokemon jumped out of the Pokeball, James quickly scanned the Pokemon with his Pokedex.

Magikarp

The fish Pokemon. It is said to be the world's weakest Pokemon. No one knows why it has managed to survive. It is unable to swim against even slow-moving currents. It always splashes about for some reason.

" Magikarp hey, well it that case it's time for you, I choose you Vulpix ". Out from a Pokeball emerged James' beautiful Red fox.

" Vul Pixx ".


"Let's go! Magikarp, use tackle!" Sam commanded, using his magikarp's newest attack. Magikarp jumped forward with a lot of power, straight at Vulpix.

" Vulpix, jump up, then when she's underneath you use Quick Attack and fall on her ". As Magikarp flopped towards Vulpix, she jumped up into the air, then when Magikarp was underneath her she jumped towards Magikarp leaving a White slipstream in her trail.

"Wait for it...NOW! Splash it out!" Sam said. His magikarp started thrashing with its splash attack to knock Vulpix back. "You can do it! Don't let it beat you cause you're not evolved! No mercy!" Sam commanded.

" Alright, Vulpix are you okay ".

" Vul Pix Vul ". Vulpix nodded back at James, she was okay.

" Brilliant, now try out that move we've been working on, use Quick Attack to get near then use Ember on your tail and then Tail Whip ". Vulpix ran towards Magikarp once she got close she stopped, then she blew fire on her tail, then with an almighty swing Vulpix's fiery tail smashed into Magikarp side sending Magikarp back to her trainers feet.

"Ugh...this isn't good. Magikarp! Ready? We're gonna test it out! Charge with your tackle!" Sam commanded. Magikarp charged in, tackling the ground right next to Vulpix. "Now! Spin at it, then use tackle!" Sam commanded. Magikarp started spinning, hitting Vulpix squarly. Vulpix went up. "Now! Tackle it!" Sam commanded. Magikarp jumped and hit his opponent, knocking it back a few feet.

" Vulpix get up ". Vulpix gradually pulled herself up, she looked at James, the look in her eyes showed James that she would back down. " Okay Vulpix, fire an ember ". A ball of fire formed inside Vulpix's mouth then she shot it towards Magikarp.

" Karp Magi ". Magikarp tried to move out of the way, but to no avail the Ember connected with the fish meaning she was flopping about more then usual, trying to get the fire to go out.

"Hm...this is quite the perdicament. Jump up and get above it! Then spin as you come down!" Sam commanded. His Magikarp went up and came down. It spun, knocking Vulpix off of its feet and causing a bit of damage. "Now! Use your tackle to knock it down!" Sam commanded. Magikarp knocked it over, dealing even more damage. This was good, he was keeping his attacks moving.

" Vulpix fire an Ember ". A ball of fire came out of Vulpix's throat and the fire ball connected with Magikarp leaving her suspectible to attacks. " Now Vulpix while we have the chance you can finish this by using Ember to cover yourself then use Quick Attack, like it's a firey tackle ". Vulpix used Ember on herself then she rapidly ran towards Magikarp, the move looked like a fire version of Volt Tackle, she then connected with Magikarp.

" Magi Karppp ". Magikarp flew towards a tree and she smashed into it fainting immediatly.

" No, Magikarp return, great First battle James can't wait to see whats next ".

" Cool you return too Vulpix, now I choose you...

[I Laugh at your Misfortune!]

"Let's go, Gastly!" Warren shouted, hurling its Pokeball into the air. But instead of the customary flash, a huge black cloud of smoke burst out of the ball, smothering the light. Warren gasped as the darkness focused itself into a ball, about the size of his head. Gastly. That thing sure knew how to make an entrance. Strangely, though, it didn't seem to be particularly excited. It just floated there, a calm smile on its face. Tyron didn't seem fazed either, he just smiled.
"You really should have done your research, you know!" he called, "Gastly might be a Ghost-type, but it's also part Poison, and Poison is weak to Psychic types!" Warren blanched - was this an accident on Danny's part, or had he been tricked into giving away Mankey? He shook his head, clearing the confusion. Whichever it was, he had a battle to win.
"Start off with Lick, Gastly!" he shouted, grateful that he had at least remembered to check with the Pokedex what moves Gastly knew. Unfortunately, it only knew two damaging moves and one was a little suicidal. On the brighter side, Gastly could use that other move very well. As Warren watched, a huge tongue appeared from Gastly's mouth, shot up to Mr. Mime and slapped it in the face. The opponent looked a little taken aback as it stumbled, but stayed upright and ready to battle.
"My turn!" Tyron shouted, "Mr. Mime, use Mimic!" True to its nature, Mr. Mime copied Gastly exactly, firing a long, powerful tongue from its mouth. Gastly, however, did not mimic Mr. Mime's reactions. As the tongue neared it, Gastly dissipated, losing its tenuous grasp on solidity and becoming nothing more than gas. The Lick attack fired right through the cloud, then was quickly retracted as Mr. Mime realised that Gastly's gas did not taste good. Laughing, Gastly reformed behind Mr. Mime, then slapped it with another lick for good measure. Angry, the red and white monstrosity swiped at Gastly, only to have its hand slip right through the ghost's fluid form.
"Concentrate, Mr. Mime!" Tyron shouted, "Use Confusion!" Smiling, it stepped back and raising its gloved hands, then cackled as an unseen force threw Gastly backwards, somehow slamming it into a wall without smashing it into gas.
Don't give up, Gastly!" Warren shouted as the ghost writhed in pain, "Use Lick again!" Nodding, Gastly spat its tongue at Mr. Mime, slapping it in the face, then pulling it over by yanking on its feet. The mime cried out once, briefly, before its head smacked the floor and it was instantly knocked unconscious.
"Alright!" Warren shouted as Tyron returned Mr. Mime, "Great work Gastly!" Gastly merely nodded modestly, but pain was evident on its face.
"Let's go, Kadabra!" Tyron called, releasing his second and final Pokémon, a large, golden fox with red symbols etched on its body. Warren gulped - this enemy seemed a lot fiercer than the comic-looking Mr. Mime.
"Use Lick!" he shouted and Gastly attacked again, but Tyron wasn't just going to take it.
"Confusion, then Disable!" he shouted and Kadabra held out its spoon. Gastly was thrown backwards , then screamed as red light surrounded it.
"Disable?" Warren gasped in shock. If Gastly couldn't use lick, then it only had one attack left...
"Use Curse!" he shouted and crossed his fingers, hoping that this would work. Gastly closed its eyes in concentration, then shrieked as its entire body exploded into a huge stream of gas, which rushed at Kadabra, streaming through its body like a lethal poison and driving it down to one knee. Finally, the gas lifted high into the air, then fell to the ground, reforming into a very unconscious Gastly.
"Return, Gastly," Warren muttered, disappointed that it had been unable to survive the attack. At least it had got to Kadabra and that curse wasn't going to get any better with time. But Warren had to choose which Pokémon to use next...
"Let's go, Beedrill!" Tyron nodded in approval as Warren released the overgrown bee. As a bug type, it should be able to compensate for its poison type weakness.
"Start with Fury Attack!" Warren shouted and quicker than anyone could see, Beedrill drew up in front of Kadabra, striking it several times with its huge spears. The Psi Pokémon stumbled back, then almost fell as a tendril of purple smoke streamed out of its left nostril. Warren grinned - Gastly's curse was taking effect.
"Poison Sting!" he shouted and Beedrill attacked again, striking with its abdomen needle this time. A purple goo jetted from the point as Beedrill struck, stinging Kadabra's wound.
"Kadabra, we have to fight back!" Tyron shouted desperately, "Confusion!" Beedrill flew back as Kadabra's eyes glowed with a multicoloured fire, but the golden fox was interrupted as more purple gas burned its way through its nostrils and mouth. Gasping, Kadabra fell to the ground and Beedrill moved in. In one final Fury Attack, it raised its right stinger and slashed at Kadabra's neck. The psychic fell to the ground, its last scrap of energy trickling out of the corner of its mouth in a dribble of black smoke.
"Alright!" Warren cried in glee, "That badge is mine!" Tyron sighed.
"Yes," he agreed, "You fought well. The Marsh Badge is yours." Sadly, he held out the small golden disc, which Warren took gladly, then turned to Beedrill.
"The fourth badge is ours!" he called, "Now nothing can stand in our way!"

The next day Rini once again walked out onto route, this time with a very determined Eevee in tow.

"Have you decided what you'd like to evolve into yet Eevee?" Rini glanced down at her most recent partner.

"Eevee vee...." she looked down at her paws.

"it's no rush. You should think it over then let me know ok?"

"Vee!" Eevee wagged her tail.

Suddenly a Rattata charged them from a nearby bush.

"Get it Eevee!" Rini winked.

Eevee charged in.

"Eevee, meet it head on in a tackle!"

The two pokemon collided together a few times until Eevee stagered back slightly dizzy. She shook her head to clear the stars from it.

Rattata took his chance and slammed into her side, knocking her over. He then pounced and tackled her again making her cry out.

"Vee!"

"Eevee, get up and tackle him again!"

Eevee pulled herself to her feet just in time to dodge another tackle by the Rattata. She flew at him and pinned him to the ground.

"Use growl!"

"Eeeeeveeee!"

Rattata gaped at the small Eevee upon him growling menincingly.

Eevee jumped back as Rattata tried to bite her in an effeort the remove the crazy Eevee.

Eevee lept back as Rattata slowly stood.

"Tackle!" Rini yelled again.

Eevee did so, and Rattata collapsed.

"Great job Eevee." Rini knelled down to pet her pokemon, who nuzzled against her hand. "Let's go buy some supplies, have lunch, then challange the gym leader."

"Eevee." her pokemon agreed.

Together they left for the pokemart, Rini once again absorbed in the breeders book.
