Sam stepped out on the route next to Celedon. Right before he went to sleep, he was contacted. His friend Grant wanted to fight. He was to meet Grant here, to train before his Gym battle. Sure enough, Grant was waiting. "Ah. You're here...well...I'll give you 2 minutes to get ready." Grant said simply. Sam was intending to take advantage of it. He sent out Vulpix, Pidg, Umbre, Gyara and Pika. He was briefing them on the strategy, when he remembered something. He pulled out the Aerial Ace TM and used it on Pidg. He was ready to go now. "Let's do it! Vulpix, you're first!" Sam said. He had been talking with James last night to learn how to use some of James's favorite Vulpix combos. He intended to use them. "Let's go! Spheal!" Grant said, as Sam remembered something. Grant was adventuring in Hoenn. He had hoenn pokemon. Sam had to be careful. After getting a scan, Sam decided to attack. "Use Hypnosis!" Sam said. Grant was surprised, as he pulled out his pokedex to see if Vulpix could even learn that. Spheal fell asleep and Sam took advantage of a trick he had learned from James. "Use Ember on your tail!" Sam said. Vulpix lit its tail on fire and got ready to move. "Now hit it with multiple tail whips!" Sam said. Vulpix slapped Spheal with the flaming tail several times, and Spheal was having a a hard time keeping up. "Shoot...water gun!" Grant said, now that Spheal was awake. It shot a jet of water at Vulpix, who was hit and took Vulpix by surprise. "Shoot...jump over it and hit it with a close range Ember!" Sam said. Vulpix used Ember and jumped around, hitting it many times. Slowly, Spheal fell to the ground, knocked out. "Good work!" Sam said, hugging his pokemon. Pulling it into his arms, Sam said it needed a rest. "Hm...you've gotten good. Well...my next pokemon will be...this!" Grant said, throwing out a pokeball. Out came a Kirlia, Grant's second favorite pokemon. Quickly scanning it for its type, Sam had to pick the best pokemon to deal with it. He knew it was good against long range, so he'd go close! "Gyara! Go!" Sam said. His newly evolved Gyarados was his pokemon choice.

"Grr! Confusion to lift it up!" Grant yelled, obviously annoyed by Sam's choice. "Thrash to get out!" Sam said, knowing confusion's limits. The move thrashed and bashed Kirlia's limits, making it put Gyara down. "Now bite it!" Sam said. Gyara used his new attack to severly injure his opponent with a powerful supereffective attack. "Grr! Kirlia use Double Team!" Grant said. "Dang it...we're gonna have to be careful. In fact...Thrash!" Sam said. The cloned pokemon gasped and was hit quickly by the powerful attack. Hitting a tree, it fainted quickly. "Nooo!" Grant said sadly. "Well...send your next one. I can tell it was strong, but I intend to win here." "That's it! You asked for it. Go! Marshtomp!" Grant said. Sam knew this was his starter. "Return, Gyara! Go! Umbre!" Sam said. He knew that it was starter versus starter now. "Use Mud Shot!" Grant said. "Jump it! Then use Pursuit!" Sam countered. Umbre gracefully jumped and landed a couple of feet from Marshtomp, where it charged up its dark energy and hit it hard. Marshtomp flew in the grass a few feet before getting up and using Mud Shot again. Sam knew he didn't have time to jump. "Stick your Iron Tail up to guard!" Sam said. The mud was deflected two ways, onto trees behind Sam. "Now Shadow Ball, but slow." Sam said. Umbre shot a stationary Shadow Ball in front of her. "Now Iron Tail! No holding back!" Sam said. Umbre loosed a powerful attack, which hit Marshtop squarly in the face. Marshtomp flew backwards at the trees behind him. Hitting the ground, it used Water Gun on Umbre, who was hit in the face. Torrent had kicked in, which was bad for Sam. "Once more! Run and slash it with Iron Tail!" Sam said. Marshtomp was hit by the powerful attack and hit the guard house, knocking it out. Grant was down, 3 to 6. "Now...go!" Grant said, throwing out a Mighyena. "Shadow Ball!" both said at the same time. The problem? Mightyena jumped. Umbre was defeated by the attack. "Vulpix!" Sam said as his pokemon ran back in. It used the flaming tail attack all by itself.

It charged, but to no avail. Mightyena hit it with an Iron Tail attack and it flew back into Sam's arms. "Nooo! Go! Gyara!" Sam said. Grant was prepared, though. "Dark Pulse!" he yelled. Gyara was instantly defeated by the powerful attack. "What's with that thing?" Sam asked. "Its the leader of the Hoenn region. He's been trained to be so. I wish you luck." Grant said, smirking now. "Hm...Pidg could probably win, but I'm not sure...Pika!" Sam said, throwing out his Pikachu. Pika could easily win. "Shadow Ball!" Grant said. "Quick Attack!" Sam replied. Pika quickly evaded the attack and moved in. "Thunder Wave!" Sam said. Pika released static electricity. Grant didn't get it...until it all made sense. Mightyena was stuck. Pika, however, wasn't, and he was still charged frmo the night before. "Spark Combo!" Sam said. Pika charged at his opponent with quick attack, suddenly releasing Thundershock. Hitting Mightyena, it used everything it had, shocking it, tackling it and everything else it could do while Mightyena couldn't move. Sure enough, Mightyena went down. Nothing could handle that much power. "Yeah! You did it Pika!" Sam said happily. Suddenly, he heard someone. "Sam? What're you doing out here?" the voice asked. "Oh...morning!" Sam said.

"James!" Sam said happily. His friend had arrived on the scene. "Yep! The one and only!" James said happily. They were up early, too. "Helllo! You still have to beat 2 pokemon...actually...how about you and your friend double battle my last two! Swellow! Tropius!" Grant said, throwing out his last 2 pokemon. "Hm...Pidg!" Sam said. "Vulpix!" James yelled. They threw out their pokemon and there were 4 on the field now. "Let's start this with your new attack! Aerial Ace, Pidg!" Sam said. Pidg gathered speed and charged at Swellow. "Ember!" James commanded his Vulpix. Pidg hit Swellow in the head, as it was adapting to the new enviroment. Tropius was on the ground when it was hit by the flames. It quickly flew up...only to hit Swellow again. "Hm...Pidg! Fly down to pick up Vulpix!" Sam said. Pidg flew down as Vulpix jumped on. Within seconds, they were in the air, ready to go. "Use Gust!" Sam said, preparing for a combo. "Ember attack, Vulpix!" James said. The now blazing flames hit both pokemon, taking them down. "GET IN SYNC! Now! Use Whirlwind, Swellow! Tropius, use Razor Leaf!" Grant said. "No!" both trainers yelled. The high speed attack was too fast for them to stop. Vulpix was hit and was headed down. "Pidg! Save Vulpix then use Aerial Ace!" Sam said. Pidg caught Vulpix and was immediatly back in the air.

"Imprison on Tropius!" James said. The barrier that had stopped Andy's Gyarados was now stopping this pokemon. "Great! Let Vulpix down on Tropius. Take on Swellow!" Sam said. Pidg let Vulpix down and went back up. "Use Wing Attack!" Grant said. The attack was strong. Sam couldn't let it hit. "Quick Attack!" Sam said. Pidg flew under Swellow and then while it was still moving fast..."Go! Straight into Aerial Ace for max speed!" Sam said. Pidg suddenly had air moving behind it. The speed had kicked up a tailwind. This was perfect. All that speed hit Swellow at once, knocking it to the ground. "Get up and use Peck!" Grant said. Swellow was quickly back in the air and attacking Pidg. Suddenly, one hit Pidg and it started to fall. "Quickly! Use Aerial Ace to recover!" Sam said. Pidg released its wings again and was next to the ground for just a second before it hit a 90 degree turn to hit Swellow. Surprised by this attack, Swellow fell just a bit...just enough. "Gust attack!" Sam said. The wind kept blowing Swellow. "Now finish it with a high speed Aerial Ace!" Sam screamed. Pidg flew down, hitting the Swellow square on the head. It was quickly defeated by the powerful attack and was finally done. "Wow...return." Grant said sadly.

In the mean time, James had his hands full with Tropius. "Sunny Day!" Grant yelled. The sunlight was imminant. "Hm...use Quick Attack!" James said. Vulpix jumped down and ran, a white streak following it. "Stomp on it!" Grant said. Tropius suddenly lifted its foot. James knew it was now. "Ember on yourself! Then tackle its stomach!" James yelled, as Vulpix picked up more speed now that it was blazing. Tackling its opponent's stomach, Vulpix had to move fast if it wanted to avoid damage. It got out just in time. "Hm...Sweet Scent!" Grant yelled. Vulpix stopped to smell the wonderfuly armoa. Bad move on its part. Tropius stomped on it, knocking it a couple of inches into the ground. "No! Use Ember on your tail!" James said. The flames were up. Now it was time. "Use Tail Whip!" James yelled as the tail flew. Whipping its opponent on several sides, Vulpix dealt huge damage. Slowly but surly, Tropius fell over. "Noo! Tropius!" Grant yelled. His pokemon was done. He had lost the match. "We won!" Sam said. He and James had finished off Grant's strong team and now they were ready. Sitting there, Sam congratulated his friend. "Yeah. Great match! Well, gotta get back to Vermillion! See ya!" Grant said, leaving. They were now on their way to the gym. Or at least...they would be, after some healing at the pokecenter.

A feeling went through Sean's head, a feeling in which he'd never felt before. It felt like a pulse that shown how nervous he was, and that he was stressing about it. There was so much at stake now, and after everything Sean had done to even get this far, this was the real moment. Never mind avoiding the press, never mind defeating Diane, it was all for this, to capture the Eevee, and if the capture was not successful, he would be so under terrible emotion, so he really had to concentrate hard on the battle, not to make a wrong move, not to let Eevee escape, to catch it and only to catch it. There was no other option. Growlithe was looking competitive to, it was all the way with Sean and atleast if Sean lost Eevee, then he would not lose Growlithe. Eevee was looking back with a fearless look which made it look as if it were ready for anything to happen, but Eevee had no idea that Growlithe was a highly strong Pokemon and it survived a high level Pikachu, so if the Eevee is weaker than Pikachu then it shall not be too hard. But still, the Eevee was a Shiny and Sean could not cope with losing it. The battle had to start some time, and Sean had to start off with a smooth move, so Eevee would not run off. Unfortunately, Eevee had no trainer and could control itself, so there was no sign of the move that was about ot be used by it. Eevee was smart, and knew what exactly to do to avoid attack from Growlithe, and it was a move that Sean didn't know Eevee would learn, but it was one he knew of and it was pretty annoying. There was a sign that Eevee was using an attack though, as Sean watched Eevee shake something up within its mouth, and within seconds, after the contents in the mouth were gathered up, Eevee spat them out, towards Growlithe. This substance that was just expelled from Eevee's mouth was a sort of brownish, grainy type of sand that looked as if it would cause pain if caught in the eyes, which was the point of the attack. Sand Attack. The sand was fast travelling, and Growlithe failed to close its eyes in time before it was shot by the grains of sand that Eevee had released. Because of this, Growlithe's accuracy of its moves was decreased and there was a risk of missing a whole lot, which was a high annoyance as for Eevee to be caught, weakening it first is the key. Growlithe shook its body, so all the sand was on the ground, and returned back in battle shape.

The Sand Attack luckily did no damage to Growlithe, but it still had a bad condition on it that Sean knew about and had hated. The condition of having its accuracy lowered, meaning the chance of moves hitting is decreased so weakening Eevee would be much harder now. But there was still no damage done, and Growlithe was far from knocked out. In fact, even the condition Growlithe was in, because there was no damage done, it would be considered untouched right now. Same with Eevee, but Eevee was a lot smaller and not as strong and high-levelled as Growlithe is, so Growlithe still had the advantage and will keep that advantage. There was a large choice of moves Sean could use, with three moves that do great damage, but he did not want to knock Eevee out, he just wanted to play it smooth, so he was going to start off with a move that, yet again, did no damage but would still weaken Eevee. "Growlithe, use Leer!" the move would lower Eevee's defense, which would help because it would make the damage dealt by attacks would be higher, and that means the less attacks would be needed to be used. Saying that, the more damage would be done meaning that the higher chance of Eevee getting knocked out. As Growlithe got the command, Growlithe started to focus it's eyes right in the middle of Eevee's, and they started to go slim, glowing a sharp, gold colour. This look frightened Eevee, as it got less attentive and less focussed on battling. But just like before, no damage was dealt and everything looked as if it were normal, so both of the Pokemon got back up together, Growlithe took the Leer off its face. So once they were ready, Sean needed to think of something. Since Growlithe had already weakened Eevee with Leer, he was going to use an attacking move this time. "Good stuff. Now then, let's use Bite!" it was a smart choice, as Ember might weaken Eevee too much, and it was pretty good and accurate. But before, Sean had remembered that due to Sand Attack, there was a chance that Bite or any other attack Growlithe would use has a bigger risk of missing, as the sand had got right onto Growlithe's eyes, in which had kept Growlithe blinking. This did not stop Growlithe trying, it opened its mouth, with the sharp teeth showing, and then Growlithe sped off, ready to take a bite into Eevee. The sand in Growlithe's eyes had made Growlithe's distance changed though, and when Growlithe was close enough to Eevee, Growlithe took a big jump over it and had kept on running. "No! Eevee is behind you!" Sean tried to convince Growlithe that it was going the wrong way, but it was pointless because Growlithe then took a bite into a bush of dead leaves, Growlithe spat them out quickly as they tasted terrible. This caused no damage, so Growlithe was perfectly fine and went back to where it first was, Sean hoped that Sand Attack would not affect Growlithe again as it cost him time and power.

What had just happened with Sean trying to get Growlithe to use an attacking move even when the Sand Attack had made Growlithe less inaccurate, had backfired. Because of that, Sean had to get his head together and think of another strategy, leaving Eevee the chance to attack. But he did know that Eevee wasn't so strong, and wouldn't cause so much damage with its small amount of moves. After all, it does only have one move that does attack, and it's quite a feeble one. Eevee was ready to make an attack though, since Sean wasn't ready to command anything to Growlithe. But first, Eevee was trying to look intimidating, and it looked as if it were resting before it was preparing to make an attack, making this one a good one. That, or it could not be an attack at all, and just a weakening move like Sean did with Growlithe's Leer. So, just then, Eevee started to brush its small, furry feet against the ground and it had started to charge on up to Growlithe. Sean was not really afraid of what Eevee could do, the only one thing he was afraid of was Eevee running off, which had a low chance of happening now that it was determined to win the battle. Instantly, Eevee jumped up, right next to Growlithe, slapping its thick, brown tail across Growlithe. This was Tail Whip. Just like Leer, it had done no damage, but it had lowered Growlithe's defence, so yet again just like Growlithe, Eevee's attacks would be stronger on Growlithe. So still, no damage had been dealt yet, but both Growlithe and Eevee were weakened once, Growlithe still in the lead because of its level. Sean was still thinking of the right move to use, because Bite would probably miss. Eevee and Growlithe were still in place for battle, and Growlithe was waiting for a command to be given before it was too late and Eevee would make another attack without sign of anything before it. Sean missed that chance, and carried on deciding what he should use. Eevee started to scrape its feet against the ground again, getting ready to have a run. Sean guessed that it would be an attacking move because it could not be Tail Whip again or else it'd be a bit useless using it twice in a row. Just then, once Eevee was fully prepared, Eevee shot off yet again. The shocking dash made Sean jump, as Eevee was a small fox and foxes were known to be quite fast, like Eevee. The glow left behind though was beautiful, the shimmering white glow looked as if it were sparkling, attracting Sean's eyes. This distracted him from hat was about to happen though, as Eevee had charged faster, and then took a Tackle on Growlithe, who was looking and was not so suprised. The attack did not hurt so much, and Growlithe just shook Eevee off its body, Eevee sending itself back to position.

Although the attack just dealt by Eevee had done some damasge, Sean didn't really care at all and he kept forgetting that this battle was important and it was crucial that he put his mind to it, preventing Growlithe from getting attacked by any of Eevee's moves and such, because if Growlithe were to be knocked out, then he would have no Pokemon left and he would have to run back to Saffron, asking for his Pokemon to get healed, in which then it will be too late, Eevee will have run off to someone else and all he will have done will be for nothing. But this wasn't such a risk right now, because the attack just done was a Tackle, which does not do much damage, escpecially on a Pokemon several levels above. It came back to Sean's head again, the feeling of him getting mroe and more nervous about losing the Shiny Eevee, which so far was not going to happen, but he was nervous that if what he had planned wouldn't work. Back to the battle, it was a choice between Bite and Ember to be used, as he did not want Leer to be used again. Finally, he made the decision. "Okay. Growlithe, use Ember!" it was probably going to be less accurate than Ember, especially with the bad, inaccurate condition it was in. On the other hand, it was pretty tough and could break a pretty hard hit on Eevee, so it was definetely worth a try. In that, Growlithe opened its mouth, starting to build up a ball of fire inside its throat. There was a bad problem with Ember which made it less inaccurate, that the ball could go in any direction with the bad accuracy in Growlithe's vision. Nontheless, once the fireball was big enough, Growlithe hurled it into the air. Sadly, it looked as if it was swerving in a different direction to Eevee which dissappointed Sean because that was another attack that had missed all beacuse of Sand Attack. This highly frustrated him now, as he thought that if he kept on missing, then it would get him nowhere and he was burning precious time which he could not afford. The battle must carry on though.

Sean was losing his nerve, and was getting less patient by the minute. He wanted to jump to the moment where he could throw the ball and catch Eevee, but it was not possible to catch it right now unless he were to weaken it first, which was going wrong so far. If he kept on missing, more and more attacks would come and possibly, the worst thing could happen, Sean losing. But he just had to move on for now and keep the battle going. He took a moment to wait for Eevee's attack first, giving the moment to decide which move to use. First off, Eevee was rubbing its foot against the ground which automatically signalled to Sean that Eevee was about to attack and he had to think fast. In the same moment, Eevee lowered its eyes, showing this attack was going to have a lot put in it. And then the final step, Eevee rushed off, striding on all four of its legs, running so fast, leaving behing yet another ray of shinieness from Eevee's white coat. Sean was still thinking, choosing from either one move which was both inaccurate, but the sound from Eevee slamming to Growlithe had made him shocked. He turned his head over, Growlithe was more affected by this Tackle than the previous one. Because of this, Sean was really angry and had to make a choice now. So he made it, choosing any random, yet pretty good move. "Growlithe! Use Ember and make sure you concentrate really hard on Eevee!" he needed to add that small bit in so Growlithe got the point, and it did. Growlithe stopped blinking, looking as if it were straining its eyes but its vision getting much clearer now, as if the sand was clearing from its eyes. After that, Growlithe had totally got its sight on Eevee fixed now, and had then opened its mouth, once again building up a fireball that was burning hard. Sean was looking hard, hoping that Ember would hit and the vision was clear, because Eevee had to be weak now. It would totally help right about now. Once the ball was the right size, Growlithe released it through the air, at better speed and much much better accuracy than previous. Sean was starting to smile in hope, as he was getting there now. The Ember had then slapped Eevee directly across the face, which had hurt a little, because it was on the ground, but it got back up in seconds. "Nice one, Growlithe!" Sean made a happy gesture with his hands, Growlithe smiling with its mouth open.

Sean's plan was going the right way now, as because of Ember hitting, Eevee was a little bit weaker, but not so much and there was a couple more attacks needed to be used before attempting the catch. However, that one Ember attack got Eevee mad and had put on a scowl on its face, as if it were trying to look scary, Growlithe failing to be scared. Sean's plan was to wait for Eevee to use an attack first, which was entirely likely to happen at the moment, and Sean to use Bite, to make Eevee flinch. Then, Sean would use any move and then that would be it, Eevee would be perfectly weak enough to be caught. Momentarilly, Eevee started to brush its foot against the ground again, which instantly gave the cue to Sean, to command Growlithe. "Ahah! Growlithe, use your Bite!" it was such a good choice now, as it would stop Eevee from making its move and would do good damage at the same time. If this would work, Sean would be only seconds away from getting what he truly deserves. So then, both Pokemon were preparing to make their move and make some action. Growlithe was baring its fangs, ready to take a chew on Eevee, while Eevee was still brushing its legs against the ground, raising speed. And just in that second, Growlithe started to go right off its feet, and dashed across the ground, faster than Eevee did before. Sean was feasting his eyes on what was going on, he had nearly won. Eevee was just about to set off, but it was too late as Growlithe was near, and then Growlithe had chrunched its sharp teeth onto Eevee's soft body. This stopped Eevee's attack, and caused a bad amount of damage. Once again, Eevee was still up for an attack though. It was small, but it could sure make a fight and a half. Sean pointed Growlithe back into position, and he thought he might aswell give one more move for perfect measure. He used any random one. "Let's get it done! Use Ember one final time!" it was a tough move, but it could just make Eevee in the perfect weak position for Sean to make a capture, but it might fail, of course, but the chances were that it was in his hands now. Growlithe sat down, opening its mouth as if it were yawning, but instead, it was once again creating a burning ball of fire, that was also fraying red sparks from it, showing that this one was tough. "Let go!" Sean told Growlithe, just incase it would be a little to powerful. Growlithe followed, and hurled the fireball directly from the toungue, across the air. Eevee was looking, but very unaware now, as it kept looking sideways. Sean was feeling very excited now, and looked as if he were jumping on both feet in excitement. And in that exact moment, because Eevee was unaware of the Ember, Eevee got hit yet again and this one had hurt really bad now. Eevee was on the ground in pain, but it was not knocked out yet, but it was very weak.

Now was the moment. He was going to go for it, now or never. If he didn't, then he would only end up wasting time and he could not try to weaken it further or else it would knock Eevee out. He took the PokeBall from his pocket, his hands trembling in sheer nervousness, and lifted it out gently. Before he was going to throw it, he raised the PokeBall to his head, closed his eyes and made a little wish that it would be a success. Then finally, once he was done, he kissed the ball lightly, and opened his eyes again. And then Sean gave the 'magic words', "PokeBall! Go!!" it was louder than he normally says it, as he was getting highly tense about it. The ball was swung over to Eevee, who was then zapped inside. The very moment that happened, Sean was shivering with intensity. He looked far back at when he was in Vermilion, where he just heard about it, how shiny Pokemon were extremely rare, and then he went back to now. Here he was, right behind that Pokemon, inside his PokeBall. The ball was shaking, as usual, but the shaking was like a countdown now.
This was it. This was the make or break moment.

(lol, I got real chills from writing the ending).

Sean was absolutely relieved that his capture of not only an Eevee, a Shiny Eevee that was now all his. Tears of joy had swept down his face, as he could not express how happy he was with simple words or speech. Growlithe was also happy as it stood, barking while wagging its tail at hyper speed. "We did it!! Yay!!" Sean shouted in total happiness. He was stroking Growlithe, praising it. "Growlithe, I never at all could've done this without you. If you weren't here, it would be too hard to catch that Eevee and I would have lost. You're the best." he was pleased with Growlithe, as Growlithe replied back with a bark in happiness again, with its tongue licking Sean's face. Sean was about to pick the PokeBall containing the shiny Eevee up, but the ball had suddenly zapped off somewhere. Sean at first was wondering where it went, but then he remembered that he already had 6 Pokemon on him, so he had to put one away. Instead, he was going to put away 2 on him that weren't so needed on his team for now.

Sean wanted to see his new and shiny Eevee, and see it now, so he returned Growlithe back inside the PokeBall, and then ran off back to Saffron. The crowd were still there, searching for Eevee. Sean was just trying to act normal though, and pretend nothing at all happened with him, of course they had no clue. All Sean could hear was, "And the ony way we haven't searched now is inbetween Celadon and Saffron. We shall be searching there now." the words of the reporter gave Sean a relief, as he was just in time to avoid the tabloids. Finally, throughout the crowded city, Sean finally ended up in the Pokemon Center. The place was just about as crowded as the city, as the people who have visited needed to rest somewhere. Sean needed privacy, as he wanted nobody to know he caught the shiny Eevee or else they'd follow him everywhere. Sean went over to Nurse Joy to ask for a room. "Hey Nurse." he got her attention, polite as normal she was. "Oh hey there. How may I help you?" Sean thought that since most of his Pokemon were still knocked out, he'd get them healed up while he was there. "Uhm, firstly, I'd like these four Pokemon healed." he gave the four PokeBalls to her, containing Growlithe, Zubat, Ekans and Horsea. "And also, I'd like a free computer room please. I need some privacy." he tried not to sound roubd about the privacy part, but she listened and understood. "Okay. There's the room over there, I think it's unoccupied. You may go inside if you wish, and I'll deliver your Pokemon once I'm done, okay sweetie?" she was polite with all her words, Sean nodded in agreement.

He walked into the small room, in which had one computer and a seat. He sat down, and turned on the computer. Once it was on, he made a call to Maple, who was the only one who he wanted to know about Eevee. The mouse clicked the call button, and he twitched his fingers a bit while he was waiting. The picture of her had came up on the screen, leaving Sean to talk, but she started off. "Ohh, Sean. It's so great to see you! And congratulations!" this shown that she must have knew about Eevee know and that he now caught it. "Oh... yeah. It took quite a bit of time, and I'm so glad. Just please don't tell anyone. Please. Please." he really wanted it to be secret, he even kept his voice really down so that nobody in the Pokemon Center could hear. "Well, I guess I could do that. But it's so adorable! And very rare." she was stroking it, Eevee looking like it liked it. Eevee even gave a friendly look back to Sean. "Aww. Yeah, it does. Listen, I need you to take Beedrill and Ponyta for me." they were not very used so much and he needed a bit of space, so these two were for Maple for now. He got the two PokeBalls out and put them in the slot in the PC. "Okay then, I have them here now. And here you go." the Shiny Eevee was returned into the PokeBall from Maple, and she sent it over. Out came the PokeBAll, which had the Shiny Eevee in it. Sean kissed the PokeBall, and put it in his bag. "Stay in touch, Prof." he waved and smiled. "Yeah. Let me know how Eevee is." she did the same, and the computer was shut off. Sean walked out of the room, shutting the door. Nurse Joy came right over. "Oh, here are your Pokemon back." she gave him the Pokemon that were gettoing healed, and Sean put them in his bag. "Thanks Nurse. Apprieciated." he smiled, and walked out of the door, and wondering where to go and what to do next. The first idea that came to his head, was to train Eevee up as it was quite low at the moment, so he went up north of Saffron.

James...I can tell what you're thinking. Yeah...training would be a good idea for you. It'd give you a chance to get ready. Still, if you could come to my match if you have time...it'd be cool." Sam said, walking away. James was planning to train. Sam, however, had a gym match to do. He slowly walked into the area of town where the gym was. Two girls waited outside. "Sorry...no stinking boys in the gym. New rule." one said. "Yeah. No boys," the other supported. "Look. I have this all scheduled. I don't have time to write in a side battle now, so if you'd move, I'd appreciate it." Sam said calmly. This didn't work well, however, as the two girls sent out pokemon. A Weepinbell and a Gloom. Fabulous... "We challenge you. If you win, you get in. If you lose, sucks for youse..." the older one rhymed. "Look...never mind. Go...Pika. Umbre." Sam said. His two pokemon emerged to face theirs. "Razor Leaf!" one said. "Stun Spore!" yelled the other. "Hm...Thunder Wave and Shadow Ball!" Sam commanded. The razor leaf attack was quickly stopped by the electricity, which also stopped both opponents in their tracks. The Shadow Ball flew in and hit both, knocking them back. "Now. Quick Attack and Iron Tail." Sam said. Pika ran quickly, hitting Weepinbell, who hit the door. Then, Umbre hit Gloom, who hit Weepinbell. "Now finish it! Thundershock and Shadow Ball!" Sam said. The two attacks hit hard, knocking out both opponents. "Nooo! YOU WON'T FORGET THIS!" the two girls said, running inside. Sam followed and found Erica. "I'm here for my battle." Sam said simply. "Of course. Shall we begin?" Erica asked.

"Go! Pidg!" Sam said. His bird pokemon came out of the ball, and stopped moving. "What's wrong?" Sam asked, as an amazing thing happened. Pidg started glowing and evolved. "Pidgeotto!" Pidg said. Sam had a new pokemon. "Hm...a Pidgeotto, huh? Well...Tangela! I choose you!" Erica said. "Hm...Pidg! Show her your Aerial Ace!" Sam said. Pidg charged and hit Tangela off the ground. "Hm...I think not. Constrict!" Erica said. Tangela grabbed Pidg, slowing it down. "Hm...this isn't going to work. Pidg! Gust!" Sam said. Pidg started flapping its wings, which knocked Tangela back. "Hm...Poison Powder!" Erica commanded. Tangela shot purple power at Pidg, who was nearly hit when Sam thought of something. "Use your Gust attack!" Sam yelled. Pidg shot the purple powder back on the opponent, who immediatly felt the effects. "Now! Aerial Ace!" Sam said, before Erica had a chance to give any commands. Pidg hit Tangela quickly and it was immdeiatly rendered injured more so than it was before. Tangela walked back to its master with a sad look on its face. For a second, Sam felt a fair bit of pity for it, but then that pity was replaced with strategy. "Quick Attack!" Sam yelled. Pidg quickly swept Tangela off of the ground. "Now! Into Aerial Ace as fast as you can!" Sam yelled. The switch was immediate and the Tangla was swept into the attack. "Now finish it off! Gust!" Sam yelled. Pidg blew Tangela back into the wall, where it was instantly knocked out. "No! Tangela! Return..." Erica said quietly. Immediatly, she threw another pokeball out. "Hold on! I need to return Pidg. Despite avoiding most attacks, Constrict did fair damage...Pidg is injured. Return." Sam said, returning his own pokeball.

Pulling out another one, he whispered, "Good Luck, Vulpix," to it. He threw it, and his Vulpix came out. "Hm...Gloom vs. Vulpix. You knew how I'd be fighting, didn't you? No matter, though. Sleep Powder!" Erica said. Sam had grabbed a scan of Tangela in his pokedex, which was coming along very well with how he'd been doing, and now he got one of Gloom before giving Vulpix a command. "Use Ember to stop it!" he yelled. Vulpix's flames quickly dissingrated the powder. "Now! Hypnosis!" Sam said. Erica was confused by this, which gave Vulpix time to put Gloom to sleep. "Now! Ember on your tail, then Tail Whip!" Sam said, remembering James's combo. Vulpix charged forward, hitting Gloom with a powerful attack. Gloom woke up to screech a second before calming down. In this second, Vulpix had decided to use Ember on it again. Gloom ran around the room before calming down. "Acid!" Erica yelled. Gloom shot purple liquid so fast, Vulpix had no time to dodge. It fell down injured and crying. "No! Vulpix! You can do it! Use Ember!" Sam yelled. Vulpix didn't, however, as it struggled to get up, crying. "Aww...come on Vulpix. You can get up! Use Ember!" Sam yelled. Vulpix struggled to its feet and released a powerful flalme. Gloom was gloating about how it had taken Vulpix down and was surprise attacked by the powerful move. It flew back towards the wall and took damage. Vulpix continued the attack, and soon, Gloom was down. Sam had won. "Good match. Here." Erica said, handing Sam the Rainbow Badge. "Thank you." Sam said, leaving. He had won his gym battle. Now, he wanted to rest his pokemon and himself. Still, he wondered what was going on with James, and decided to go looking, picking up Vulpix and stroking it for such a great job.

After James had split from Sam he set off to find a decent trainer to do battle with. James walked away from the Poke Center and walked east from the center and continued on to the outskirts of Celedon City. He was observing his surroundings when he noticed a strong looking man walking around obviously looking for something. James strolled over towards the trainer; about to ask him for a battle.

"Excuse me would you like to have a battle?" James asked the hardy looking man. The man looked at him in a dumb face.

"Um er I dunno have you seen any Heatran's around here?" Replied the man he kept scratching his head as if he had to really think before he said every word.

"Mate two things. One this is the Kanto region not the Sinnoh region and two; that is a legendary Pokemon so don't expect to see one walking around outside of Celedon City." Wow this man was really dumb. James looked at him and saw he wasn't going to try and make conversation "So do you want to battle then?" James yet again asked the man.

"Er okay then." The man bluntly said with no expression in his face nor voice. Boy this guy sure had some charisma.

"Okay then aren't you going to call out your first Pokemon then?" James asked the charismatic hardy guy.

"Oh yeah I forgot sorry and my name is George by the way." George said but still he made no attempt to pull out a Pokeball.

"Cool I James," replied James to the trainer he was about to battle.

"Hi James," said George but he still made no attempt to pull out a Pokeball. Despite his weirdness James knew that he must be rather good.

"Okay then so are you going to pull out a ball or not?" James asked his dopey opponent.

"Alright then I choose you go Crobat!" James could see that this bat like Pokemon was going to be strong. He pulled out his Pokedex and scanned it to get some inside information on the bat Pokemon.

    Crobat
[Best Veteran March/May 2011] A new professor in town - Kanto Adventure PG13
The bat Pokemon. It evolves from Golbat. Having four wings enables it to fly faster and more quietly. It turns active when the night comes.

"Okay then it's time for Glaceon!" James pulled out Glaceon's Pokeball and he chucked it up in the air; but not too far as he wanted Glaceon to land right by his feet. James was successful in his aim and Glaceon landed by his feet. James opened up his backpack and pulled out the TM he had won in the six trainer challenge. He placed it on Glaceon's head and soon it had disappeared; hopefully Glaceon had just learned Ice Beam.

"Er Crobat use Wing Attack!" All four of Crobat's wings turned a strong Silver colour and Crobat glided towards Glaceon ready to smack his wings into him.

"Quick Glaceon use Iron Tail when he gets close to clip his wings!" As Crobat came flying towards Glaceon; Glaceon's tail turned silver and he smashed it into Crobat's wings clipping his wings meaning Crobat's fly was a bit of a limp with a few seconds.

"Okay great work Glaceon now try using your new move; Ice Beam!" James shouted towards the majestic Pokemon. Glaceon opened his mouth and a huge continuous beam of ice moved towards Crobat.

"Crobat use Hyper Beam straight at the Ice Beam!" Crobat opened his mouth and out fired a thick orange beam towards the Ice. It smashed into the ice shattering it into every direction; the beam carried on and smashed into Glaceon hitting him across the floor.

"Okay you are strong. Time for a little strategy Glaceon use Shadow in front of yourself then jump and hit it with Iron Tail!" Glaceon conjured up a black ball of shadows in front of himself. Glaceon's tail then turned silver he started to make a run up.

"Crobat use Steel Wing on the ball before Glaceon gets there to cause damage to Glaceon!" Crobat's wings turned bright silver in fact the same colour as Glaceon's tail. The two Pokemon homed in on the ball. But because of Crobat's superior speed and reactions the bat Pokemon smashed into the ball of shadows smashing in Glaceon's direction. Because Glaceon was moving towards the ball his momentum made the attack even stronger; the ball blasted against Glaceon blasting him into the floor.

"Come on Glaceon your better than this get up then run and jump to use Iron Tail!" Glaceon got up with ease. He then ran towards Crobat and jumped up with his already silvered tail.

"Crobat stay calm and still he won't be able to reach you," this bloke didn't seem as dumb as before; was it all an act?

"He's right Glaceon. Quick bounce on your tail then you Ice Beam when your next to Crobat!" Before Crobat could react Glaceon bounced on his iron tail and jumped and till he was face to face with Crobat. Glaceon's mouth opened wide and a beam of ice flew straight towards Crobat. He was lumped against the floor; only just surviving.

"Brilliant Glaceon not long until we can finish this buddy. Now try using Icy Wind while he's down to stick his wings together!" Glaceon's mouth opened and a few particles of snow flew out. Because Crobat was still down the snow hit his wings and he was frozen to the floor. This was virtually over now.

"No Crobat try to wiggle out!" Exclaimed his trainer but alas the ice was too tough and the Crobat was well and truly stuck! James blurted out laughing because he knew this one was over.

"Okay then Glaceon run up next to him and finish this with Iron Tail straight in the face!" Glaceon calmly ran up to the battered body of George's Crobat he then used Iron Tail and smashed him round the face knocking him out in the process.

"Return Crobat well your good but my next Pokemon is better then your next Pokemon go Scyther!" Now George's voice was a bit more charismatic and seriously. James scanned the Pokemon buying himself some time to figure out who to chose.

    Scyther
[Best Veteran March/May 2011] A new professor in town - Kanto Adventure PG13
The mantis Pokemon. When it comes into contact with a Metal Coat it evolves into Scizor. Scyther is blindingly fast. Its blazing speed enhances the effectiveness of the twin scythes on its forearms. This Pokemon's scythes are so effective, they can slice through thick logs in one wicked stroke.

James was still wondering but his mind was made up for him when Munchlax jumped out in front of him. Munchlax had put himself in for the fight. What had taken James the delay to figure out what Pokemon to use was he knew George had one more strong Pokemon left and he wanted to save Vulpix for that. So it was between Munchlax and Nidoking. Munchlax had made up James' mind it was Munchlax time.

"Okay Munchlax seeing your so keen try using Tackle attack!" James yelled to his beloved eccentric baby Pokemon. Hearing James' command Munchlax ran towards Scyther in an attempt to smash into him.

"Scyther use Double Team to avoid the attack!" Before Munchlax could reach Scyther; Scyther split into around twenty five copies of herself. Munchlax looked around in bewilderment.

"Munchlax I have an idea Odor Sleuth to identify the real Scyther!" Munchlax's eyes turned purple then one of the Scyther's outline turned the same purple colour.

"Okay Munchlax that is the real Scyther now before he moves use Zen Headbutt!" Munchlax's head turned a bright purple colour he then ran and Scyther and rammed his head straight into Scyther's abdomen. Because this was a female Scyther it's abdomen was larger meaning more pain was brought to it through Munchlax's strong head that obviously contains a lot of thoughts.

"Scyther get up them use Slash!" Scyther started to run over towards Munchlax she reached out her scythes before slashing it across Munchlax's stomach. Munchlax hardly even winced in pain. He just stood there and took the attack.

"Okay now try using Wing Attack!" Scyther's back wings turned white she then smashed then into Munchlax's chest but still he didn't flinch.

"Now use Slash again!" Scyther then pulled out her scythe ready to slash Munchlax again.

"Okay Munchlax now she's close use Zen Headbutt!" As Scyther came closer Munchlax's head turned the usual purple colour and he smashed it into Scyther. One more really strong attack could finish Scyther off.

    "Munchlax use Metronome!" called James.

"Munch-Lax-Munch-Lax," said Munchlax happily, in time with the movement of his arms. James watched on hoping luck was on his side.

All of a sudden Munchlax stopped moving his arms, and then something amazing happened... Munchlax took flight. The small, chubby pokemon soared high into the air and circled briefly high above Scyther, before diving in for the perfect Sky Attack. The force of the attack knocked Scyther unconscious.

Scyther's trainer calmly returned Scyther to its Pokeball with a blank expression on his face, as if there was absolutely nothing strange about what had just happened. James on the other hand looked stunned, and I don't think his jaw could have dropped any lower if he had tried. As for Munchlax? He was jumping up and down, happily clapping his hands. He had obviously enjoyed his first experience of flying.

Munchlax walked back to James' side like he hadn't either flew. James looked at Munchlax and just wondered what the hell goes on in your head? James just singled out Vulpix's Pokeball ready for what was to come; he knew it would be George's strongest Pokemon. James noticed George pull out a peculiar Pokeball it was yellow and black in colour.

"I choose you Jolteon!" Other then the exclamation in George's chuck he still looked shocked and bewildered with Munchlax's antics. When the Pokeball popped out came a spike covered Pokemon. James pulled out his Pokedex and scanned this new Pokemon.

    Jolteon
[Best Veteran March/May 2011] A new professor in town - Kanto Adventure PG13
The lightning Pokemon. It's one of the seven evolutions of Eevee. It's shares this trait with Flareon, Vaporeon, Umbreon, Espeon, Leafeon and Glaceon. Jolteon's cells generate a low level of electricity. This power is amplified by the static electricity of its fur, enabling the Pokemon to drop thunderbolts. The bristling fur is made of electrically charged needles.

"Okay then I choose you Vulpix!" James chucked out the Pokeball he had already hand picked. And with a bright white flash out came his beautiful and strong starter Pokemon Vulpix. Vulpix then started to fire out long flames of fire. She was using Flamethrower.

"Yes Vulpix you've learnt Flamethrower. How about we try it out use Flamethrower!" Vulpix opened up her mouth and let out a long line of fire it was all heading towards Jolteon.

"Okay Jolteon dodge it by using Quick Attack to the side!" Jolteon ran away from the flames at quite some speed. Jolteon then readied for his next command.

"Alright Jolteon use Pin Missle!" Jolteon's whole body tensed and a load of needles ripped out from his skin and jolted towards Vulpix.

"Vulpix use Will-O-Wisp to burn all of the missiles!" As all of the pins flew towards Vulpix she opened her mouth and a few little fireballs came out and melted all of the pins.

"Vulpix now use Imprison!" Vulpix's eyes turned red and then Jolteon tried to move but he was stuck in a invisible like wall.

"Now Vulpix use Flamethrower!" Vulpix opened up and fired a huge line of fire towards Jolteon; who staring at the fire he was now a sitting duck. The flames flew straight at him and the flames burned on him but eventually they went out. Jolteon looked a bit battered and bruised.

"Jolteon use Thunderbolt!" Jolteon then let out a huge bolt of thunder straight towards Vulpix.

"Vulpix use Flamethrower to block off the thunder!" Vulpix let rip a huge line of flames and the two attacks met in the middle. Meaning neither Pokemon use hurt. There was a huge line of smoke in between the two Pokemon.

"Okay Vulpix use Quick Attack while Jolteon isn't expecting it!" Before Jolteon could do anything Vulpix rapidly ran through the smoke and James heard a thud. When the smoke disappeared James saw Vulpix over the top of Jolteon she was now ready to finish this.

"It's time Vulpix Flamethrower!" Vulpix opened her mouth and let rip her most powerful line of flames all of them covered Jolteon and sizzled him into an unconscious state. George pulled out a Pokeball and returned Jolteon before running off. James did likewise the returning bit anyways. He placed her Pokeball in his back pocket then walked off with Munchlax in his arms.

James who was still cradling Munchlax in his arms; walked back towards Celedon City. Every now and then James would burst out laughing; this was because he kept having flashbacks of Munchlax's most recent antics. James knew that Sam had probably won his gym battle by now so his plan for the time being was to meet him there and take on a gym cronie then it would a battle for his fifth gym battle. James already knew what Pokemon he was using; they were going to be Glaceon and Munchlax. James eventually ended up in Celedon City. He briefly visited the Pokemon Center and healed his Pokemon.

After James exited the Poke Center with his newly healed Pokemon; he started to head towards the south western corner of the city. He noticed a rather large building that was covered in flowers and other girly things. James almost walked away in disgust when he suddenly noticed the word GYM spelled out in flowers.

James sighed then walked up to the girly gym. He pushed open the door and walked in. He spied Sam in the corner of the gym shaking hands with Erika; his gym battle was obviously finished. He was about to walk over to Sam when suddenly a young girl jumped out on him.

"You can't challenge Erika yet she is busy and you must get past me first!" Exclaimed the little girl; she ripped a Pokeball from her pocket and moved her arm forwards; ready to release her first Pokemon.

"Okay then this will be quick and easy so Munchlax it's up to you!" James shouted out and he released his grip on Munchlax. Munchlax jumped out from James' arms and landed in front of him. He winked at James before continuing onto the battlefield. Munchlax was once again experiencing his calling.

"Ha a weak Munchlax. Baby Pokemon are so stupid. My Paras will take Munchlax down; I choose you Paras!" She pushed her arm forward and released her grip on on the Pokeball; chucking it up into the air. With a bright flash out emerged a Pokemon that James had never seen before. James whipped out his Pokedex and quickly scanned the new Pokemon.

    Paras
[Best Veteran March/May 2011] A new professor in town - Kanto Adventure PG13
The mushroom Pokemon. It evolves into Parasect. Paras has parasitic mushrooms growing on its back called tochukaso. They grow large by drawing nutrients from this Bug Pokemon host. They are highly valued as a medicine for extending life.

"Munchlax we'll start this off by using Zen Headbutt!" Munchlax's head turned the same purple colour that James was now getting used to. Munchlax then ran towards the Paras.

"Paras use Light Screen!" Her trainer shouted then as Munchlax was running he smashed into a invisible wall meaning the effects of the Zen Headbutt attack were negated.

"Munchlax try using Tackle attack!" James shouted towards his baby Pokemon. Munchlax then began to run towards Paras; in an attempt to use his weight against her.

"Paras wait until he gets near you then use Scratch!" Screamed the girl in an attempt to encourage her Pokemon. As Munchlax got closer he jumped at Paras. Paras reached out one of her sharpened claws and she smashed it across Munchlax's face. Pounding him into the floor.

"Okay Paras while he's still down use Spore!" Suddenly a yellowy powder kind of substance came out of Paras' back and landed on Munchlax; he immediately fell asleep.

"Munchlax buddy get up then use Zen Headbutt!" But despite James' shouting Munchlax failed to get up and just laid there on the floor. James had no idea of what to do. Until he noticed a few Poffins lying on the floor by his backpack. James threw them in front of Munchlax. Munchlax's nose started to inhale and suddenly Munchlax came to his feet and woke up he started to eat the Poffins. Munchlax was now awake and ready for battle.

"Brilliant Munchlax use Zen Headbutt again!" Munchlax's head once again turned purple before he ran towards Paras. He then jumped up and smashed his head into Paras and Paras was flipped along the floor.

"Paras use Energy Ball!" Screamed the young girl to her Paras. Suddenly Paras made a green ball of energy in front of herself. The ball then flew towards Munchlax at an alarming pace.

"Munchlax use Zen Headbutt on the ball to smash it back towards Paras!" Munchlax's head once again turned purple. He then rammed his head into the ball and sent it flying back towards the Paras. The ball flew back towards the Paras.

"Paras jump up to dodge it!" Commanded the young girl to her Pokemon. Paras just managed to avoid the ball but the Pokemon was still looking behind herself just to make sure.

"Okay Munchlax before she has time to get back into this use Metronome!" Munchlax started to wiggle his fingers. Suddenly Munchlax let out a huge blast of fire. It all hit Paras and left a star sign afterwards; Paras was knocked unconscious during this Fire Blast attack. The girl returned her Paras before running off. James walked over and picked up Munchlax he then started to wonder about what doing next.

James noticed that Sam had been observing his battle. James nodded at him before progressing and James stood in front of Erika. Erika looked at him she ushered for a match referee to come over; this battle was about to begin judgment time for James.

"This battle is between the challenger James and the gym leader Erika this battle is two on two and only the challenger may make substitutions. This battle shall begin!" The match referee announced.

"James it's time for you too lose go Tangela!" Screamed Erika as she chucked a Pokeball up into the and out emerged an odd looking Pokemon. James pulled out his Pokedex and scanned the new to him Pokemon.

    Tangela
[Best Veteran March/May 2011] A new professor in town - Kanto Adventure PG13
The vine Pokemon. It evolves into Tangrowth once it knows Ancientpower. Tangela's vines snap off easily if they are grabbed. This happens without pain, allowing it to make a quick getaway. The lost vines are replaced by newly grown vines the very next day.

"Alright then I choose you go Glaceon!" James threw out his majestic Glaceon's Pokeball and out came Glaceon from his Pokeball.

"The battle shall now commence!" Shouted the match referee to tell the battlers it was time to battle.

"Okay my darling Tangela use Vine Whip!" Tangela moved one of his feet backwards then released a long vine in attempt to slap it into Glaceon's face.

"Glaceon use Icy Wind to freeze the vine!" As the vine came closer Glaceon opened up his mouth and blew snow at the vine. In a instant the vine froze and it was vulnerable to being smashed.

"Glaceon this is our chance use Iron Tail to smash the vine!" Glaceon's tail turned a familiar metallic silver colour. He then jumped up in the air and as he came down he twisted in midair before smashing his tail into the vine. The vine shattered into thousands of pieces. Tangela flinched for a few seconds before looking calm and collected again.

Erika then rubbed her head before commanding "Tangela use Absorb!" Tangela reached out his vines. He wrapped them round Glaceon and they began to flash green. Glaceon was wincing in pain. When he released his grip on Glaceon he looked refreshed whereas Glaceon looked a lot more damaged.

"Glaceon use Ice Beam!" Shouted James too his eeveelution. Glaceon opened his mouth and let out a huge beam of ice straight towards Tangela.

"Tangela dodge it by ducking underneath the beam!" Tangela used his bendiness to bend down and avoid the icy attack; he was now ready to counter Glaceon.

"Okay Tangela use Sleep Powder!" Tangela tensed for a few seconds before releasing a load of greenish powder towards Glaceon.

"Glaceon use Icy Wind to freeze the powder!" James commanded his Glaceon. Glaceon opened her mouth and released particles of snow towards the powdery substance. Soon the powder was frozen over and it left shiny chunks of ice in the air; they soon fell to the ground.

"Tangela use Constrict!" Tangela sent out a load of vines in an attempt to grab Glaceon.

"Glaceon use Quick Attack to run away!" Before the vines could grab Glaceon he left a white slipstream and ran away from the vines; he left himself in a perfect position to attack the off-guard Tangela.

"Okay Glaceon try using Shadow Ball!" Glaceon conjured up a black ball of shadows and fired it towards Tangela.

"Tangela use Vine Whip to smash it back towards Glaceon!" Tangela pulled out a vine then whipped it. The ball flew back at Glaceon with two times the power and at two times the pace.

"Glaceon jump up then use Iron Tail!" Just as Glaceon had learned from Sam's Umbreon he jumped up and smashed his Ironized tail straight into the ball it was flying at such a pace that it was unavoidable and unblock able. The ball smashed into Tangela knocking him into the ground and leaving him susceptible to attacks.

"Alright Glaceon finish this with Ice Beam!" James shouted. Glaceon then opened his mouth and released a huge beam of ice. It covered the Tangela knocking him out in the process.

"Tangela is unable to battle; therefore Glaceon is the winner!" The match referee shouted. James and Glaceon winked at each other before she readied himself for his next opponent.

"Return Tangela. You made light work of Tangela but not my next Pokemon....

Sean was heading through the north of Saffron, up to the route which was south of Cerulean. He had been there several times, mainly when going down to Vermilion and so on. There were so many people to push past, one by one all standing by carrying drinks and having a loud chat, all different people. While Sean was nearly at the part that separates Route 5 and Saffron, Sean found two types of buldings, both looking like types of Gyms. They were identically sized, both having lots of people crowding, wither challenging the people inside or just hanging out like the rest of the people. Sean was going to take a look again after training, so he carried on up. The sky was a clear, blue, totally sunny and it was a good afternoon. Perfect weather for some training.

After approaching the large building to go outside, Sean saw guards inside, with no people in there with them. They were both rather big, and looked like they were not to be messed with or they'd be asking for trouble. "Sorry sunny boy. Nobody is allowed past. The city is as crowded as it is." one of the guards explained to him, with Sean just slapping his head. "I was leaving!" he tried to make his point, as they could not keep him cramped up inside the large city with thousands of people in there with him. "No can do." they both explained to him, Sean was furious and then explained why he was leaving. "Look. I just want to train up my Pokemon. Is that so much to ask?" he was making gestures with his hands, with the palms flat out. They still had no reason to let him through, and still carried on. "Well, you may always go to the west of Saffron. The only place which is not guarded." they looked as if they were about to shove him out, so Sean just closed his eyes and shook his head, walking back out.

The city was just like it was as he walked into the building when going out, people still crowding the west exit. There was no chance he was going to get any Pokemon to train on over there, so he thought he'd just find a place to chill as he waited. Luckily, because of Saffron's huge structure and popularity, there were so many spots to take a rest and relax. There was a place in the centre of the city, a small cafe where people were sitting at benches with parasols on them. This was a great place to rest as he needed a drink due to the weather. Sean made his way across the buildings, towards the cafe. Once he was there, he could see how many people were there. Obviously, there would be so many people because they needed a spot to rest and just chill out. So, Sean sat down at a bench and waited for somebody to come over to take his order. As he sat down on the bench, he watched the TV in the cafe. The news was on, he liked to watch it. It was so easy to hear, so he could watch TV while listening to it. There was an interesting story going on, but it then ended up finishing. Lots of people were talking, and he couldn't hear it perfect so whatever was on, he wouldn't hear it all. The next story was something about Maple, and that immediately got Sean to listen up. And just then, she was getting interviewed. Now he could hear, she was talking about what he told her not to, Eevee. The whole cafe immediately shut up and listened. Sean blushed, hoping she would not menchan his name.

Sean's eyes were wide open, and focusing on the TV so hard, just like everbody else in the cafe. Just because the shiny Eevee was menchaned. The only people who knew about Sean catching it were Sean and Maple. If she revealed his secret, then everbody would know who he was, what he did and he would officially be hated by every hopeful he knew who was also after Eevee. He could not cope with that, and just tried to act like everybody else who was just silent, waiting to hear what she was about to say. There was not much of a pause inbetween the beginning of the interview, so Sean didn't have to wait so long, but then she started to speak. "Eevee is no longer in the wild." this automatically got Sean in a scared state, but everybody else was the same. There was a whole lot of gasps as she said it. Some people even started to cry a little, while some where horrified and angry. Maple continued talking, Sean hoping that she wouldn't say anything about him. "I have recieved information from one of my Pokemon Aide's. They spotted a Pokemon Ranger capture Eevee, and it shall be brought to safety. I'm sorry to be the bare of bad news." after she was talking, Sean was relieved to hear that Maple did not name him, which pretty much saved himself, but the other people in the cafe were far from relieved; most people were depressed, and totally annoyed that they missed out. Maple then started to talk again, "Anybody looking for the siny Eevee should now give up, and go back to whatever they were doing. And never menchan this incident about the shiny Eevee ever again. Thank you." then the interview had finished, and they went back to the studio. In people's dissappointment, everybody in the cafe walked out without a word, only mumbles and stressed noises.

There was only a couple of people left in the cafe, Sean and some other guy with a purple hat on, and his hand flat over his face. Sean could tell that this guy was depressed, and was taking this so seriously. But Sean couldn't blame him. If he was the one who lost out on getting the shiny Eevee, then he'd be totally depressed. This person looked familiar to him in a way, because he was wearing purple clothes, and a dark purple hat like himself; but Sean could not see his face because his hand was flat across his face, showing nothing. Sean just turned to ignore him, as he could be an aggressive person who was in a bad state. Instead, he just turned to his glass of lemonade, which was nearly finished now. The barman came over, to collect his glass, noticing that there was not many other people around when there were loads just a few minutes ago. "Hey guy. Looks like you and that fella over there are the only ones here. I wonder why its so unpopular now. Not so long ago I heard lots of noise." he had noticed, Sean nodded in reply and started to make something up why. "Yeah, I guess they just had enough for now. Hmm." as Sean finished, the boy in the corner of the cafe who was still at the table had then folded his arms on the table, putting his head on his arms. "I guess so. Looks like something's up with that guy." he laughed a little bit, which was pretty impolite. Sean just nodded again. The strange boy at the other side of the cafe had then got up, as he had heard enough. His face was showing now, and it was looking right at Sean. Now he had knew this face, it was Callum, Diane's cousin. Sean could tell he would be angry now, because he was directly set on Eevee, and it was too late for him. Sean just tried to walk away, as Callum walked over to him, looking really distateful.

"Go Gloom I choose you!" Erika threw out a Pokeball and out emerged a weedy looking Pokemon. James quickly whipped out his Pokedex and scanned the Pokemon.

    Gloom
[Best Veteran March/May 2011] A new professor in town - Kanto Adventure PG13
The weed Pokemon. Gloom evolves by the use of a stone. The leaf stone evolves Gloom into Vileplume and the sun stone into Bellossom. Gloom releases a foul fragrance from the pistil of its flower. When faced with danger, the stench worsens. If this Pokemon is feeling calm and secure, it does not release its usual stinky aroma.

"Okay Glaceon this will be hard but hang in there as long as you can. Try using Ice Beam!" Glaceon opened his mouth and released a long beam of ice and sent it flying towards Gloom.

"Gloom use Acid to melt the ice!" Gloom bent down her head and released a stream of black acid at the icy beam. When the acid met the ice the ice melted.

"Glaceon try using Quick Attack!" Glaceon started to run at a rapid pace towards Gloom; leaving a white slipstream in his wake.

"Gloom use Stun Spore!" Gloom once again bent down her head but this time she released a sort of yellowy powder substance. Before Glaceon could hit Gloom; Gloom's powder hit Glaceon and caused Glaceon to stop moving and jerk every few seconds.

"Gloom now use Acid!" Gloom bent down her head and let loose the same black acid as before. The acid covered Glaceon before burning him out. Glaceon fell to the floor in pain.

"Okay Gloom finish it by using Absorb!" Just as Tangela did earlier Gloom started to turn green. Suddenly Glaceon turned the same colour but he started to flop around on the floor in pain. This was until he stopped moving and fainted. When the colour faded Gloom looked refreshed. James pulled out Glaceon's Pokeball; ready to return him.

"Glaceon is unable to battle; that means that Gloom is the winner. James the challenger must now choose his second and final Pokemon!" Announced the match referee.

"Glaceon return!" James calmly said. A flash of red returned him to his Pokeball. James fingered all of his Pokeballs before he settled on Vulpix's.

"Vulpix I choose you!" James threw her Pokeball. With a bright flash out emerged his graceful little fox Pokemon.

"Gloom use Absorb!" Gloom started to glow green.

"Vulpix use Confuse Ray!" Vulpix's eyes turned a bright red colour. Then Gloom's eyes turned the same colour and she began to walk around in circles.

"Alright Vulpix use Flamethrower!" Vulpix opened up her mouth and let out a continuous line of fire towards the confused Gloom.

"Gloom snap out of it then duck down and avoid the fire!" As the fire came towards Gloom; Gloom kept moving around it looked like the fire attack was going to burn Gloom to a crisp. But just before the fire hit Gloom she ducked down and avoided the fire attack but just by a smidge!

"Okay we were unlucky there. Vulpix use Quick Attack!" Vulpix started to run towards Gloom. She was leaving a white slipstream in her wake. She ended up smashing into Gloom laying her out onto the floor.

"Okay Gloom use Acid!" Gloom lowered her head and released a stream of acid towards Vulpix. Vulpix began to brace herself for a counter attack.

"Vulpix use Flamethrower to put out the acid!" Vulpix opened her mouth and released a stream of fire towards the acid. When the two substances met in the middle they both put each other out.

"Vulpix use Ember this time!" Vulpix let loose a small ball of fire and it flew towards Gloom. Gloom calmly stood still; waiting for Erika's command.

"Gloom dodge it then use Absorb!" Gloom calmly side stepped away from the small ball of fire and then started to glow green. Vulpix then turned the same green colour and started to jitter in pain. When the light faded Vulpix looked hurt whereas Gloom looked replenished.

"Vulpix we have to hit Gloom with some fire type moves use Ember on your tail then use Tail Whip!" Vulpix let loose a small ball of fire onto her own tail and soon it was covered in fire. Vulpix ran over and then smashed Gloom around the face smashing her into the floor.

"Gloom get up then use Acid straight at Vulpix!" Gloom ducked down her head then fired a load of black acid towards Vulpix.

"Vulpix use Quick Attack to get away and keep running around in circles!" Before the acid could hit Vulpix she left a white slipstream and moved away from the acid; she then began to run around in circles.

"Now Vulpix keep using Flamethrower on yourself then smash into Gloom!" Vulpix started to fire streams of fire onto herself. It looked like a very powerful imitation of Volt Tackle. Vulpix then smashed into Gloom. Gloom was left like a sitting duck on the floor. This match is almost over.

"Okay Vulpix time to finish this off. Use Flamethrower!" James screamed to his starter Pokemon. The atmosphere was tense he knew his fifth badge could be on the horizon whereas for Erika this could be her third defeat today. To the little Ninja kid, Sam the battler she had fought not long ago and now to this challenger; James was his name. Vulpix opened up her mouth and released a stream of fire. It all engulfed Gloom knocking her out in the process. James now waited for the sayings of the match referee.

"Gloom is unable to battle therefore Vulpix is the winner. Erika is out of Pokemon so this means the winner is the challenger James Bates! He is know in possession of the Rainbow Badge!" Announced the match referee. James walked over and exchanged goodbyes with Erika. She passed him a Rainbow Badge before he walked off.
