    Espeon, keep fighting!
    "C'mon Espeon, keep going." That's all Espeon needs to use Earthquake. Well, you're probably not the best influence on your Pokemon, but eh.
    "Machoke, Frustration!" calls Tabitha, and Machoke charges at Espeon. Espeon doesn't even try to dodge, and it takes the attack, sliding backwards, but not seeming to care at all. It keeps getting pounded by Machoke.
    "Camerupt, Flamethrower!" Camerupt blasts fire at Espeon. Espeon is engulfed in flame and you can't see it anymore. The fire clears and you expect to see Espeon fainted. Espeon is standing unflinchingly. You look at it - it's badly burned and injured, and by all rights probably should've fainted a while ago. It charges forward, driven by manic vengeance. It blasts Machoke with another Psybeam. Camerupt tries to use Dig, but is held in place by Starmie's Psychic. Golbat slams Team Magma's Pokemon with Wing Attack, and they sink down.
    "Eeessssssspppeeeonn!" cries Espeon as it glows and triggers another Earthquake, finishing off Camerupt and Machoke. Everybody stumbles, including the Grunts fighting nearby. The battle is over. Espeon suddenly cries out in pain, and collapses, fainted. Shelley cackles.
    "Anger and revenge are powerful motives, aren't they? Anyways, we can finish off these guys by ourselves from here, so off you run."
    "And don't think this means a thing next we meet." says Matt.
    You carry Espeon away from the fighting to take a look at it. Winona comes running over, having finished with her battle.
    "What on earth happened? This Espeon is horribly injured! It needs help, right this second. Use Tropius!" You send out Winona's Tropius and place Espeon carefully on its back. "Get it to a Pokemon Centre! Hurry!" says Winona. Tropius nods, and takes off, in the direction of Lavaridge. You fill Winona in on what happened.
    "That's terrible... but I think there's more to the story than just the abandonment... I have a feeling you'll meet that Tabitha person again... But anyway. Right now we have to take down Maxie. It seems... kinda easy, him just standing out in the open and all... Do you have any ideas on what to do?"

    -"You're the Gym Leader, you lead!"

    "Let's take the direct approach." you say. You run at Maxie, yelling a battlecry. Winona sighs, then follows suit with her Skarmory.
    Maxie chuckles.
    "You kids have all the subtlety of a freight train." He throws his Poke Balls and his two Pokemon emerge.

    "Actually, I'm surprised you made it this far, whelps. Team Magma is planning to use the power of this here Mt Chimney for something huge. Something along the lines of... volcanic eruption."
    "What? That's despicable!" says Winona, "You'll wipe Lavaridge and Fallarbor off the face of the planet! You'd kill hundreds of humans and Pokemon!"
    "But that's not all. The sheer force of the eruption should wake up the ancient Pokemon that slumbers inside... But I've said to much already. So, how will you fight, whelps?" asks Maxie, with a smile. Winona frowns.
    "I'm geting a vibe from him..." she says quietly, "That he has something big up his sleeve that he hasn't revealed yet... We have to do this carefully. She points a finger, and her Skarmory flies forward to fight. Which of your Pokemon will you use?

    If we use Swellow we may stand a chance against Crobat but we can't harm Aggron and it has Thunderbolt.
    Mr Shrooms and Kirlia are just too weak.
    If we use Swampert Crobat will just use Sunny Day while Aggron uses Protect. Surf will be weaker and Solarbeam will destroy us.
    So that is why I choose Sableye! No weaknesses and it has Night Shade for Aggron.

    You send out Sableye, who jumps out and Fake Outs on Aggron. Skarmory flies at Crobat with a Steel Wing, nailing it and sending it spinning backwards.
    "Confuse Ray!" calls Maxie. Crobat sends the beam at Skarmory, who begins flying erratically, and pecking itself with its beak. Winona moves to return Skarmory. "Now Mean Look!" Crobat fires another beam at Skarmory, and and an eye marking appears on Skarmory's chest, temporarily preventing it from returning to the Poke Ball. Skarmory continues to fly around, hurting itself, and narrowly missing flying down the volcano mouth. Aggron uses Thunderbolt, shocking Sableye, but giving him an opening to attack - what will you use?

    There's a flash of light and Aggron joins Skarmory in a state of confusion. Crobat glares at Sableye, and the two rush at each other, using Faint Attack and Poison Fang. Crobat takes more damage, becoming weaker, but you notice Sableye has a wound glowing purple - it was poisoned. Aggron and Skarmory continue to attack themselves, while Sableye and Crobat charge at each other over and over, both of them growing weaker.
    Skarmory shakes its head, regaining control of its senses. It and Sableye charge at Crobat with a twin Faint Attack and Aerial Ace, knocking it backwards and finishing it off.
    "Aggron, Thunderbolt!" Aggron blasts Sableye with another Thunderbolt, finishing it off too. "Hmph. Pathetic. How on earth did you get past my commanders?"
    "Don't move, Maxie." says Winona triumphantly, "If you want to keep your head, that is." Skarmory is above Maxie's head, razor-sharp wing to Maxie's neck. Maxie freezes. "If you or Aggron make a sudden move, Skarmory slices. Now step away from the machine and walk slowly over there…"
    "M-2, come." Says Maxie, "A Grunt appears, who was apparently hiding behind a rock. He throws a body to Aggron's feet. It's Roxanne! "Well then, if you make a move, your Gym Leader friend here gets crushed. Winona and Skarmory falter.
    "Ack, that's dirty…"
    "Hey, you started it! Thunderbolt!" Aggron blasts Skarmory with a full-power Thunderbolt.
    "Skarmory!" calls Winona, running over to her fallen Pokemon. Maxie smiles, and Aggron launches another Thunderbolt, hitting Winona. She gives a yelp of pain, spasms and collapses next to Skarmory.
    "That's what you get." sneers Maxie, "Now Aggron. First sign of movement from this kid, crush Little Miss Gym Leader here. Maxie turns back to his machine. He continues typing in complicated commands and codes, and you hear a rumbling from deep in the volcano. He turns to the Grunt. "Prepare to move out in precisely 9 minutes. Eruption is imminent... That Pokemon should awaken..." The Grunt runs off, spouting commands into his Pokenav.
    This is really bad. You don't have much time till the volcano blows, and making a move would just give Roxanne a death sentence... What are you gonna do???

    -Breloom, Mach Punch on Aggron!
    -Kirlia, Magical Leaf on Aggron!
    -Everybody out, attack!
    -Charge at Maxie!

    Well, I've been reading this for a while now without speaking up, but this is a tough decision. We need to react fast or bye bye Roxanne, and Mr.Shrooms' mach punch is the fastest option I think, so Breloom, Mach Punch on Aggron!
