Nor worth the gas money, considering how the prices are these days.

LOL porn bots, I remember seeing them on some phpBB sites. The closest thing to that I have seen here is some person posted Hentai of Cynthia.

45 minutes by car probably isn't worth the drive. :x

That's true, but I do go there every few weeks to get books, so another discount wouldn't hurt....../butgaspriceswillshot

I want to get a job somewhere I can actually buy things from. Like Best Buy, Borders or a clothing store :o

I remember Borders! We use to have that in the mall but now it's Books and Millions. I don't have a car either nor do I have a permit since I'm not interested at all but I'll most likely be getting it during summer. I wonder what you do when you work at a book store, organize books, be a casher?

They shouldn't discriminate that. It's illegal isn't it?
Pretty sure it's illegal to discriminate against anyone when hiring. Regardless if it's illegal or not they will just either not call back, or say "Thanks for applying, but we are evaluating our options with somebody else". Or something like that. So doing that and not flat out saying it even if it is the case is completely legal since "technically" they didn't over look you.

We're talking about jobs here, eh? School has taken over my life and I haven't had the time to go on and look for one myself. I want to work at a computer store...maybe Best Buy? Game Stop sounds pretty cool too. I agree with Charizard, I'd also like to work where I like to shop (like somewhere at the mall.)

Of course it is, hun. They would think of another reason to mask the real reason. As Kenshin noted, they usually just say something that basically can be boiled down to "thanks, but no thanks." I can't say where I work because I don't want to get sued, but the place I work does sell clothes, and unfortunately, all of the attendants range between should-get-hospitalised-thin and okay. (Sorry if I offended you, Landorus. I want to be supportive, but I don't want to white lie, y'know?)

Of course it isn't a coincidence. Given that a bulk of sales is from the fashion range, and we sell and represent so many different brands, each brand wants "attractive" people to sell their wares. The only "overweight" people are occasionally department managers. I'm sure Australia isn't the only place that hires in this manner. Frankly, I disapprove of that notion, but I work in a different department, so I'm not directly affected by the cloaked bigotry.

I wonder what you do when you work at a book store, organize books, be a casher?

It depends on how big it is. Some places divide workers between organising and customer service, but with the Borders I know, the duties typically change depending on what they need that day. The place I work also sells books (but not exclusively), and from my temporary shifts there, I can tell you that they asked me to stack, organise and serve customers. If you get upgraded to supervisor, you may have to verify orders and communicate to the department manager/manager about what is needed and what isn't.

I agree with Charizard, I'd also like to work where I like to shop (like somewhere at the mall.)

That's a very nice idea. I work where I like to sometimes shop, and the staff discounts (if you get any) are really beneficial, and incentivises your wanting to work there instead of money alone.

I work in a big box store, and I got to say, that before I worked at the store, I think I'd been in it twice in nearly 3 years. XD I use my employee discount maybe once a month, and thats usually for a Gatorade out of the cooler or something.

Gas prices >.> The pay for the first two hours of every work day go strait to the gas tank to get to and from work that day. I live 30 minutes away from work. I'm just glad my car get 30MPG I'd be so screwed if it didn't.

I don't care what happens, nobody should ever work at McDonalds...
But as far as locations go I'm really lucky. I live about 20 seconds from a tram line, on that line is work, uni, the city and my optometrist. My life resides on this one tram line... So gas has never been an issue to me
I've got my Ls but I'm way too lazy to get my hours for my Ps.

So I called my manager to ask for my paycheck (because I quit) and needless to say he was pretty ticked. I only worked there for 2 weeks tho, so I can understand why....

Charizard, I worked for Target and I have friends that work at Best Buy...its NOT worth it to work at big box retailer for what you get paid. I started working at Sherwin-Williams after Target, and it is a smaller retail store (granted they sell paint and not random stuff) and they pay wayyyy better ever for part time people. Also they are really flexible and there is more room for advancement in the company. You could probably make $1 or $2 more an hour there, and not have to worry about them cutting your hours.

Did not know that. Thanks for the heads up. While walking around my neighborhood saw a garden shop with a now hiring sign, might go there and see what they have to offer.

Is Target good other than the pay? Just wanted to know how the employees are treated and such.

Hello fellow Supporters! I just joined the ranks today! So happy.

Hey there. :) Congrats on being a supporter!

That's pretty much what I should be doing. I'm wasting $50 a week for gas when there's a bus that stops right in front of the apartment complex where I live, and takes 10 min to get to my school, and it's on the same street. :| . It's a 2-mile stretch. Plus, I beat traffic everyday after school (coincidentally, I finish the school day AT rush hour. xD)

I applied at McDonalds before...worst decision of my life. xD
